4.Be still
5.Listening
#2 Attention Grabbers
1.Teacher says “bada ba ba baaa”

2. Teacher says “Red Robin”
Students respond “yummm”
3. Teacher says “alright stop”
Students respond “collaborate and listen”

# 3 Behavior Chart
• Students start each day on green
• When students show positive
behavior they clip up, or if they make
poor choices they clip down
• Teachers can determine prizes or
give stars to those who reach “Outst-
anding”
• A very modifiable behavior plan
#4 Noise Control
• When the class is working hard they can earn
points and more recess time, but if they are
noisy the teacher earns points. If the students
have more points
than the teacher they
receive that many more
recess minutes.
#5 Name calling sticks
• Put all students names on popsicle sticks
• When you need student volunteers you can
pull sticks out of a jar
• Trick, put a smaller tube in the center of the
jar for the students you have called on
• This way students who have been called on
will still pay attention because their stick went
back in the jar and you know who hasn’t been
called on yet
#6 Job Chart
• Give each student a job for the week
• Jobs can vary per class
• Quick way to teach students
how to be accountable
#7 Classroom Boggle
• When students finish an assignment early
they can play Boggle
• All the teacher needs to do is
change out the letters every so
often.
#8 Classroom Rules
• Create the class rules together so that
students can take some ownership in them
• Try to limit the number of rules
• Post the rules for the class to see and have
everyone sign it
• If possible shrink the rules down, laminate and
give one to each student to keep at their desk
#9 Hand signals
• Students hold up fingers that show what they
need instead of interrupting a lesson
• These can be changed for your class needs:
1 finger: bathroom
2 fingers: drink
3 fingers: tissue
4 fingers: pencil
5 fingers: question
#10 Posting Daily Schedule
• It can be very helpful for students to be able
to see what they will be doing each day
• You can create picture or
word cards that can be
easily changed each morning
