The Causes Of The Korean War
Korea existed under Japanese control from 1910 until the end of World War II in 1945. After the
war, the Korean Peninsula was divided into two states along the 38th parallel. The Soviet union
controlled the communist north while the United States controlled the nationalist and anti
communist south. Soviet general Terentii Shtykov established the Provisional People s Committee
for North Koreain 1946 and Kim Il sung became chairman. Shtykov broke North Korea s stratified
class system, nationalized critical industries, and as a result many fled to the south. Later that year,
South Korean citizens resisted the rule of the Allied Military Government and continued to resist
despite violent opposition until they declared their statehood in May 1948. Shortly after this, The
Democratic People s Republic of Korea was established, and Kim Il sung became the premier
leader. Shtykov suspected President Syngman Rhee of South Korea was planning an attack on
North Korea, and so with the help of Jospeh Stalin, North Korea launched an attack on South Korea
on June 25th, 1950. This started the Korean War, which was essentially a proxy war between
America and the Soviets. The United Nations force (led by the United States) assisted South Korea
in the war. China assisted North Korea, and would continue to follow this pattern of allying with
North Korea until modern day. The war ended on July 27th, 1953. An agreement was signed that
restored the original boundary along the 38th parallel. The

Swot Approaches Of Strategic Human Resource Management Essay
Essay: SHRM Approaches Analyzing Case Study
Introduction
Strategic human resource management (SHRM) is a design and an approach for managing the
companies human resources and the needs of their employees along with goals of the company, it
requires thinking ahead and making the new ways for the organization to meet requirements of
their employees and the employees should fulfil the requirements of the organization as well as
achieving the sustainable competitive advantages(Bratton Gold,2012).The SHRM has three
approachesuniversal approach, contingency approach configurationally approach, but in this
essay there is a review of only two major approaches i.e. universal and contingency along with
their strengths and limitation as well as how these approaches are applicable in different contexts.
Next we will analyze the SHRM approaches used by Google and what were it fails and how it is
supporting SHRM.
Major SHRM Approaches
Universal Approach
The universal approach, also commonly referred to as the best practice approach, to SHRM posits
that some human resources practices are always better than others, and that all organizations should
adopt these best practices (Jamali and Afiouni, 2012).The main logic is that the entire organisation
can see improvements in work performance but only after identifying the best practice and
implementing it. The most eminent model in universal approach is by Pfeffer (1994), who
contended that practices such as incentive pay,

Presentation on DNA Vaccines Essay
Vaccines
Vaccines are one of the greatest achievements of modern medicine
In developed nations, vaccines have almost exterminated polio and smallpox and tightly controlled
diseases like hepatitis A and B or typhus
There are three generations of vaccinations
First generation vaccines are either weakened or killed forms of whole organisms
There is a problem with first gen vaccines: the pathogens can still revert to dangerous forms and
cause diseases in immunocompromised vaccine recipients.
Second generation vaccines are specific protein antigens, which are safer, but cannot generate killer
T cell responses

Delivery methods
There are currently two widely used methods of delivering DNA vaccines: injection or gene gun
In an injection, as much as 100 to 200 microliters of DNA are injected directly into muscle tissue
Muscle tissue is inefficient as an uptake site, so more DNA is needed to ensure that enough
plasmids are taken into host cells
Delivery Methods Continued
In the gene gun method, as little as sixteen nanograms of DNA are fired directly into the abdominal
epidermis
This method needs so little DNA because the DNA is directly bombarded into individual cells.
The gene gun delivery method is essentially an air gun that fires microscopic heavy metal particles
(such as gold or lead) covered with plasmid DNA
Delivery Methods Continued
Other, less common delivery methods include
Aerosol sprays on nasal or lung mucosa
Topical administration to the eye
Liposome mediated delivery
Attenuated Shigella or Listeria vectors for oral administration to the intestinal mucosa
Recombinant Adenovirus vectors

Flaws According To Socrates
Socrates is a special phenomenon in the history of philosophy, especially in the background, in
lifestyle, mode of living, style of thinking. Even to his death he also inspired poetry and
painting. That death does not end its life but incarnate in another life to continue to touch the human
heart with courage and the nobility of a person who doesn t subdued under any material temptation

divide the divine offering? He was so calm before his death so someone thinks poison does not
offered to Socrates but It was Socrates dedicated poison to himself.
When Socrates was young, he meets and argues with all kind of people. Like other educated people
in Athens, Socrates was fascinated with the study of the prevailing view of philosophical schools
during at that time. With independent thinking, he does not want to think in the traditional way. He
quickly recognized the two fundamental errors that contemporary philosophers had: First, they only
criticize, argue each other without paying attention to the method of argument so they are difficult

The Music Of Country Music
Country Music
Country music. Just saying that word ignites a train of thought to many people to think of the deep
ole American South and cowboys. What causes people to begin to imagine those things? From the
cowboys featuring in movies to the loud blaring music the hillbilly neighbor plays, country music
has brought its way to people around the world. From the 1920 s to now Country music was one of
the first genres in modern music and is still popular today in the United States. The history of
country music is so uniquely characterized that through each part of history it changes massively.
Observing, viewing, and hearing the history of country music is the only way to see how although
other music genres seem to slowly fade away country music has still stayed strong since today.
Country music was not the first name for this genre. In the 20th century when early country
music was developed it was considered hillbilly music. This hillbilly music was derived from folk
songs and popular songs from the English Scots and Irish settlers from the Appalachians and
various regions in the South. The instruments used in early country music were the fiddle, guitar,
the autoharp and a few others. The spark of country music to the public started in 1923 when
country music was first recorded. In June 14, 1923 a man with a continuing effort to discover new
acts and reach untapped markets, Ralph Peer, found John Carson, a fiddle player, who he decided
to record. This started the

Compare And Contrast Japan And Europe
Because Japan and France both existed within the genre of feudal society, they shared many
economic similarities. Both feudal systems had common qualities of fief organization, similar
inheritance customs, taxing systems and issues with debt, and the lack of social mobility
characteristic of feudalism. In feudal societies, fiefs are awarded to officials in lieu of salaries.
A fief typically was a plot of land, including household servants, agricultural laborers, and anyone
else who lived on the land; however, it was above all a diffuse bundle of loose claims on rights
with which one obtained the right to participate in the game of power present in feudal societies.
A fief did not necessarily have to be land, but it was overwhelmingly so in both France and Japan
because of the natural economy, led by agricultural pursuits; the more important part of a feudal
agreement was not the land, per se, but rather the ties between lord and recipient. Moreover, in
punishment for breach of feudal contract, forfeiture of the land was possible; the lords in France
had the right to reclaim their gifted fief if they felt they were not well served. There was also the
option of escheat, which allowed the lord to take back their fief in default of a rightful heir.
Fiefdom was common to both France and Japan. Shiki rights in Japan were defined as a right to
profit from the land ; they acted as a sort of deed or title, which could be bought, sold, inherited,
and divided as the recipient of

Persuasive Essay On Racial Profiling
In the United States racial profiling affects thousands of Americans every single day. Not many
people think about what racial profiling is, some people think it don t even think it exists or how
it affects everyday lives, but you or anyone could have possibly done it. Racial profiling is the use
of raceor ethnicity as grounds for suspecting someone to committing an offense. According to
American Civil Liberties Union, Racial profilingis a nation wide problem. Stories have been
reported across the country not only by everyday citizens, but doctors, lawyers, judges, legislators,
police/military officers, and celebrities . Even though racial profiling is widespread, it should be
stopped because of its negative effects on people and America.
So why does racial profiling affect most races or ethnicity?
In an article by Evan Horowitz from The Boston Globe, was a great point about racial profiling
Horowitz says, When police start targeting people based on their race, it effectively puts a whole
community under suspicion. What is more, it virtually guarantees that the innocent will regularly
find themselves stopped by police, for little reason beyond the color of their skin . A good example
which proves the statement he made is true is police brutality. A lot of police brutality cases have
happened in the recent past of this year in addition to starting the Black Lives Matter protesting.
But, a case of police brutality that deals with racial profiling that stands out to me

Uncertainty Reduction Theory Paper
Engaging in new Cognitive uncertainty means uncertainty related to beliefs and attitudes of people.
Strangers are not aware of each other s beliefs and attitudes on initial interaction, so uncertainty is
high at this point. Experiences for the first time can be rather daunting. Especially when meeting
someone new and of higher social standing. The degree of separation between the two parties can
leave a sense of unease or uncertainty. Charles Berger and Richard Calabrese developed what came
to be known as Uncertainty Reduction Theory. This Theory can be stated as such, When strangers
meet they focus on their level of uncertainty because it is uncomfortable. People can be uncertain
behaviorally and/or cognitively. Meaning, they may be uncertain... Show more content on

Uncertainty as an affective condition is characterized by negative feeling of anxiety, frustration,
apprehension, and worry. (Brumfield, 2008). These feelings can easily be generated with someone
new because of the uncertainty about social beliefs, common interests, political values, etc. The
importance of a first impression sets the foundation for entering a new relationship with new co
workers. Due to the important nature of this stage it can be very stressful, not to mention that these
interactions are taking place with numerous people not a singular person. Learning new
mannerisms and behaviors for every individual is the main way to reduce the uncertainty. The more
the communication takes place the more barriers will come down and the quality of the
conversations will increase. During the entry phase mainly demographics are shared, which is just
enough information to get to know the new people in the workplace. Some of the demographics
that will be shared are age, social status, economic status and topics of that nature. Development of
those conversations start the personal phase, when opinions and beliefs begin to surface that
indicates the steps into phase two. People are naturally information seeking, which decreases as
uncertainty about the other person decreases (businesstopia.net, 2018). During this phase the
conversations feel less forced and more fluid, being able to share more personal information
without the worry of upsetting the other person. In a new workplace especially a new one it is
important to establish personal relationships with people that will be working within a proximity
every day. Over time the need to share rapid amounts of information will decrease and instead more
qualitive information will be shared. Conversations will be able to be upheld for longer durations of
time and the content

about balancing their cultural heritage with the need for economic development, even after

The company also performed impact assessments, sustainable development scorecards for capital

Masculinity In The Grapes Of Wrath
In The Grapes of Wrath, the main source of their hardship is the being kicked off of their land;
however, the antagonistic force is the selfishness of the human race. John Steinbeck portrayed the
hardships of the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression for families like the Joads through this
book, and it all started off with families getting forced off of their property. That was the root of
all the hardships that would come later in the book. The Bad Guy in The Grapes of Wrathwas not
the banks, the landowners or the police. They were all bad guys in some part of the book, but they
were not the bad guys in the book, as they were not in all of the book. The characteristic that they
all shared was the selfishness, which was why the unempathetic, self centered part of humanity was
the bad guy in the book. In The Grapes of Wrath, the Joads come across many hardships and

For one, they had to start a new life with no money because they spent it all getting to California,
and when they got to California, everybody hated them. The root of all of the this was being
forced off of their land by the banks and the large landowners. This caused a snowball effect,
where everything that happened in the book happened because they got kicked out of their land.
They would have never gone to California, never had to sell most of their belongings, never had to
work out in the blistering heat for a meager twenty cents an hour. The root of their hardships is not
the Dust Bowl, or the Great Depression, because even though it might been part of the reason
they had to travel to California for work, it didn t make the bank or landowners kick the farmers
off the land. They made the decisions for themselves, and they could have chosen to be

What are you doing? What are you doing? WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?! (Bergin 209).
The world is in shambles. The human race as we know it is in danger of extinction. All that is
certain is that it will rain. The pitter patter of precipitation on a rooftop is enough to set tranquility
into even the most anxious of people; it is a soothing sound that many souls readily embrace.
However, even the rainhas its dirty little secrets. In The Rain by Virginia Bergin, fifteen year old
Ruby Morris must face an unrelenting terror from above. There is something in the rain resilient,

Ruby s first lesson in survival is a list consisting of seven fundamental rules of survival ranging
from DON T GO OUT IN THE RAIN (68) to DON T EAT ANYTHING THAT S BEEN
OUTSIDE (69). These guidelines are essential to survival, but what seems to be the most
effective is the rule simply labeled THINK (70). This is put in place in order to ensure that Ruby
takes into account the most insignificant of details before she makes decisions. It is incorporated
into her routine and she commits herself to thinking before she acts a habit that saves her life
on multiple occasions. Ruby picks up on this change herself, stating late in that book that she
didn t just look and decide Hey, it s not raining let s go! The newer version of the new [her]

and bow to the needs of all. When faced with obstacles such as infected citizens, Ruby realizes
that the sole sound way to safely surmount them is to protect her party. Such a scenario is shown
when she is promised water by a haphazard group stationed at a public pool. Upon arrival,
drunkards soak an innocent man using tainted water, infecting him. He then falls directly into the
pool, subsequently tainting the large body of water. In order to avoid being infected, she gathers
her party into a supply closet and locks the door, ultimately condemning all on the opposite side of
the barrier. Though charitable, Ruby s compassion has a limit, and that limit is reached when the
lives of her party are endangered and her instincts take control. Hereafter, she uses her honed

Humanitarian Intervention Essay
The key objections to humanitarian intervention include the conflict of interests with the self
interested state and sovereignty, the difficulty of internal legitimacy, the problematical
Responsibility to Protect (R2P) doctrine, and the debate over legality of intervention. The issue of
morality stands as an overarching issue which touches on all of these. Overall, one finds that despite
a moral imperative to intervene, humanitarian interventionshould not occur but is perhaps the lesser
of a series of evils.
In realist theory, states are self interested in that their own relative gains are favoured over absolute

intervention may aggravate the receiving state, more so perhaps in military interventions than
economic, political or social. A threatened state is arguably more likely to initiate a backlash.
However, such an argument cannot be made against a UN sanctioned intervention, where it can be
agreed that the intervention is legitimate and in the interests of the global community. The issue of
marginalising state sovereignty completely ignores the fact that sovereignty is granted by the
international community , . The arguments that states such as China may put forward, that state
sovereignty is absolute and deserving of unadulterated respect, rests on the idea that states grant
themselves sovereignty, which upon reflection, one finds to be untrue. State sovereignty can only
be realised if it is acknowledged by the global society of states. To this a realist might argue that
theoretical sovereignty is separate from actual sovereignty, and that states will defend their
sovereignty regardless of its

Put A Persons Health At Risk
put a persons health at risk. For example, pollution caused from transportation and manufacturing
plants causes a threat to ones well being and overall health. If we look at the root of this particular
problem we find that it stems from the use of natural resources to produce energy. Not only does
that reduced the amount of available resources harming the environment, it is also creating a
byproduct that reduces the quality of health. Collaborating with other researcher and tackling the
root of the problem would allow an integration of these two disciplines. Finding ways to produces

Water is essential for us to live and yet there are still so many issue linked to contamination of
water and the health of people. A large proportion of the World s population around 1.1 billion
people does not have access to improved sources of water (Thompson et al., 2003). Many people
take for granted their ability to access clean water. When in reality this problem has been occurring
for a very long time and affects a vast amount of people. The first documented attempts to treat
drinking water, which may date back to 4000 B.C., were recorded in Greek and Sanskrit writings
(Barry M and Hughes J, 2008). Even with the technology and knowledge we have today this
problem is still occurring. In order to fully understand its implications on people it has to be looked
at in a global context.
According to Thompson et al. (2003), a long term goal of Global Health is to cut in half the
number of people who do not have access to clean water. This initiative will necessitate innovative,
collaborative, interdisciplinary, and intersectoral efforts, with commitment from national leaders
and heads of international agencies and with public private partnership (Barry M and Hughes J,
2008). Blending ideas from people with different backgrounds will increase the likelihood of
accomplishing this goal. Diseases associated with the consumption of contaminated water cause

Adam Smith Greed
The Wealth of Nations
Can greed and self interest benefit our society s economy? majority of people would say, but one
man by the name of Adam Smith would ve disagreed. he believed that profit motive even greed

However, his theory shined in the right light; justified is the best solution for the economy.
Entrepreneurs, individuals who come up with an plan in means of profit while knowing the risks

Anonymous Anonymous, an infamous hacktivist group. Their slogan We are Anonymous. We are
Legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us. Now, one can come to think that they
kind of sound like an underground rebel group. Which is what they are, but they do it all via the
internet. Once must also think, well how do they do it all via internet and not get caught? They
tunnel all their nodes and logs through private networks and encrypted chats. You may ask, what
do they fight for? Well it s obvious, they all fight for one thing: Freedom and a proper Government.
You can come to this conclusion just by taking a peek at their tweets, videos, speeches, and etc. It s
obvious that Anonymouss intended audience is anyone they can reach out to, not only does this
hacktivist group focus on American problems, but they also take third world countries problems

Child Neglect Book Report
What impact on children when parents have neglected? This book is the autobiography of the
author Jeannette has been living in forced poor life through parents neglect. I think that the parents
of this family were neglect. Neglect is one of ill treatment, so I consider about the reason and
influence from three sides (the side in healthy growth of mental and body, educational side and
social side).
The first side is influence the healthy growth of the mind and body. However father chasing big
dreams he was drinker, and even if he found a job, he didn t long on the job. Mother s dream was to
become a famous painter in the artistic type, daily draw and write. Without too much housework,
she thought children should be independent and became like the neglect of children. Mother had a

The Marketing Pl Paola Amador
III.THE MARKETING PLAN
1.SWOT ANALYSIS
In this section we will cover the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to the men s
swimwear line, which also sheds light on the reasons to why this option is chosen.
1.1.Strengths
Paola Amador is the first indigenous Mexican brand that will have the product line in men s
swimwear. Though there are other famous brands like Speedo and Nike that make men s
swimwear, their main focus is on sports outfits and clothing in general rather than trendy swimwear.
Since women in Guadalajara and other large cities in Mexico are already familiar with this brand,
it will be relatively easy for the company to enter the men s swimwear category. Women who know
the brand will recommend it to men in their family and friends circle. This will lead to word of
mouth marketing in the beginning and hence help create a positive customer perception
immediately at the introduction stage.
The company can use its existing production facilities for manufacturing women s swimwear in
the production of men s swimwear. The existing swimwear line for women are hand sewn in
order to ensure the highest level of comfort. The brand has a strong social media presence (which
it uses as a medium for selling), giving it a platform to better create awareness of the new product
line.
1.2.Weaknesses
The brand symbolizes women s swimwear and hence, the designer may or may not be able to
translate her existing skills to the requirements of the men s fashion

The Importance Of Technology And Digital Media
It is evident that society has surrounded itself with technology. Technology and digital media are
mass media outlets that will ultimately affect our perception and ability to interpret and actively
analyze messages. Unfortunately, nefarious characters with shady intentions can take advantage of
this and spread false information. Thus, technology and digitalmediadegrade the most common
forms of discussion. The rapid expansion of technology and digital medialeads to poor mental
health, decreased quality of face to face communication, and the inability to discern false media
sources. It is imperative that society acknowledges our decline in face to face communication and
respond as a unified unit to strive to step away from technology and to interact with those around us
more effectively.
Technology has expanded at an unprecedented rate. Per the U.S. Census, 76% of households
reported having a computer in 2011, compared with only 8% in 1984 . (Drago, 2015, p.2).
Computers and digital media allow us to access information far more readily than ever before. From
the introduction of computers, humans have adapted to this new technology, bringing it into our
households and including them in daily routines, giving the ability to access digital information
without needing to read it from a physical direct source. Long gone are the days where painstaking
research meant going to the library and pouring through countless pages of research notes, papers,
encyclopedias, and reference material. The need to find something is brought up and the cultivated
21st century instinct reverts individuals to Google or to other digital media outlets for our
information. Digital media as well has expanded swiftly. From 2005 to 2009, participation in digital
networking sites more than quadrupled (Chou, Hunt, Beckjord, Moser, Hesse, 2009, pg.1). Digital
media is expanding at a stunning rate, but not always for the better.
From the statistics introduced, we can see the rapid expansion of technology and digital media.
Digital media stemming from technology is one of the culprits to human s issues. Digital media is
not all bad; it gives individuals the opportunity to reacquaint past relationships, express emotion,
and keep friends and

Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms ( Adr )
Within the Australian justice system, Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms (ADR) have
historically been perceived as a means whereby parties can seek to resolve a variety of disputes,
but in a non judicial manner. As we move further into the 21st century, the rising costs associated
with lengthy and often ineffective litigation, accompanied with a need to reduce burdens placed
upon our legal system have allowed for a notable shift away from the courts as the primary means
of dispute resolution, with a growing number of parties preferring ADR as the most appropriate
means to bring about a more cooperative approach to legal matters. In the past, it has been largely
up to the parties to identify the issues that are in dispute, which would then later be adjudicated in
the appropriate court. Many scholars have strongly advocated in favour of adopting pre action
requirements, whereby parties are encouraged to negotiate disputes prior to the commencement of
litigation. Lord Wolff in his 1996 report into the UK justice system importantly notes that the
present system... is too expensive in that the costs often exceed the value of the claim; too slow in
bringing cases to a conclusion and too unequal: there is a lack of equality between the powerful,
wealthy litigant and the under resourced litigant . His recommendations, alongside several others
have been given significant weight within Australia, with the Attorney General initiating the
National Alternative Dispute Resolution

For my dance history lineage project, I chose three different choreographers who helped each other

Ruth St. Denis, born in 1879, was from a small farm in New Jersey. As a child, Ruth learned

Love And A Little Malice
Come December with love and a little malice.
December is regarded the month of romance and love. The chill turns into a fire when the love
attains its climax. The rain and snow become a catalyst to warm and join the broken hearts. Lovers
admire this month for rekindling their lost dreams. December is the month of Christmas, the month
of the birth of a great prophet JESUS. This prophet of peace loved his enemies and comforted them
all. Jesus always stood with poor and disenfranchised, fed and healed them, preached against the
power bases of society and government and refused to draw weapons against the Roman soldiers
when they came to arrest him. He knew that making an enemy is not the way to make friends since
making enemies has predictable consequences, the enemies naturally fight back, he urged for
kindness and forgiveness. The believers kept alive the gesture and upheld the values he taught.
JESUS knew the world was but a hell without love and compassion. Hence, he transacted his life for
love and erased the sins of others. Muslims around the world adulate the impact this magnificent
prophet created in human history that condemned hatred and violence. Muslim also treats the
followers of JESUS as the right people of the holy book.
It is, however, bewildering to realize, in contrast, the contemporary intellectuals and politicians
untiringly demonize faith, nations and race. None of the virtues of Jesus were adhered to by the
politicians and most of the others who claim to

Political And Economic Theory Is An Often Contentious Subject
Political and economic theory is an often contentious subject as it relates to how much
interference governments should be allowed when it comes to rights and welfare of the public.
One of the most debated topics asks the question is it a part of the government s role to take
wealth away from the rich to give to the poor? John Rawlsand Robert Nozick offer two differing
theories about the role of government in distributing wealth.
John Rawls argues that a just society must have equal rights for all. He defines a society as an
organization of individuals who work together and create a social contract of moral and immoral
actions. The goal of any society is to improve the lives of those who inhabit it, contradicting Nozick
s belief that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second principle is called the difference principle which states that social or economic
inequalities are only just if they help the most disadvantaged members of society. In this portion,
Rawls does agree that material inequality is a necessity to encourage economic competition, but
states that it is only just if it is then used to help those who have been disadvantaged by their social
position. Rawls proposes that the difference principle is the core component of distributive justice
and therefore justifies the redistribution of wealth from rich to poor at the hands of the state.
Rawls develops the idea of an original position as a conception point and a justification for this
theory of distributive justice. In this original position, an individual is standing behind a veil of
ignorance which blocks out social class, economic class, sexuality or natural talents. In this place,
an individual is in the position to make the most basic moral decisions because they face no
external bias. If one knows no place in society, a rational person will make decisions that help
those who are worse off. In the original position, the principles of justice would be agreed to by any
rational human. This position supports the idea that while each person might have a different
background, they should have a fair chance to pursue goals and the equality of opportunity despite

My Life Reflection Paper
Literature and writing have had an affect on my life starting from my early childhood and
continues to influence me as I end my 11th year of school. From children s pop up books to 500
page novels reading has always taken part in developing my life. From learning to write my name
to using vigorous research and planning to construct a 7 page paper over the Scarlet Letterand the
unfortunate events little Hester Prynneis forced to deal with, along with the thrilling task analyzing
two juxtaposed literary works. Throughout my life writingand literature have helped to guide me
in life and aides in my everyday life. In grades kindergarten through seventh I attended school at
Piqua Catholic and more times than not was unsatisfactory in my writing and literature skills. I
always seemed to be the kid that fell behind when reading a book or was constantly spelling
words incorrectly. It was not that I did not care or never did my work, I tried but nothing ever
clicked for me. Tutoring was brought up in chat among my parents but they hoped that it would
click eventually. My mother acted as my own personal tutor at times. In preparation for spelling
tests we would take a cookie sheet and cover it in shaving cream. After my mom gave me a word
I would spell it out in the shaving cream. This helped me to visualize the words while
incorporating some fun into studying. First grade was nightmare for me, My teacher, Mrs.
Quarter had suggested to my parents that I be held back because I was so far behind compared
to the other children in my class. At times we would read together in class, taking turns by going
around the room. It was embarrassing when the book came to me and every other word I would
stumble and need help with pronunciation. Although Mrs. Quarter suggested I be held back a
year that was not what she wanted. At times she would stay after school with me to practice
reading with me which greatly benefited me. With Mrs. Quarters help my reading and writing
greatly improved and by the end of my second grade year I was on honor roll. As I grew older and
transferred to Troy City Schools I felt that my classes had gotten easier, especially English. I
excelled in English, I will credit my English teacher Mrs.

The Creation Of Creation In A West African Tale
In many cultures comma people have made their own stories of creation. These tales come from all
around the globe. Creation stories can come from the Bible, the Cherokee Indians, the West

believe that a different type of god created the land mass. Cherokee lore states that animals create
the Earth. A West African Tale tells how Otabala sprinkled roots from the Baobab tree and created
the terrain of the desert. These legends and tales tell how early humans explained how everything
came to be. In creation stories, many cultures showed similar themes even though most had no

The Evolution Of Logistics Within Warfare
When considering the evolution of logistics in warfare, it is important to realize that both
opportunities and problems must be recognized for the former to be capitalized upon and the latter
to be resolved. The first recorded war occurred in approximately 2700 BC; however, the prevailing
attitude towards logisticsin warfare remained largely unchanged for approximately 4,600 years,
and that is a problem. Even among recognized experts in warfare, up until the 20th century,
logistics was eschewed as a necessary evil. However, it was not considered to be an opportunity,
as evidenced by Clausewitz, so its maintenance is always a necessary condition. But, strictly

59).
The U.S. military has been one of the major if not primary innovators of logistics in warfare since
WW1, and particularly during and after WW2. In fact, during WW2 the Germans lacked
mechanized transport to a stunning degree, and to further complicate matters, the Germans
lacked standardization. The lack of standardization is shown by the Luftwaffe having over 425
models and variants of aircraft it relied on. Whereas the U.S. strove to rely on fewer models to
streamline the requirements for spare parts. Additionally, 80 to 85 percent of the Wehrmacht was
supplied by horses, in fact the Germans used more horses during WW2 than they had during
WW1. Further complicating matters, to mechanize transport for 15 percent of their military they
confiscated trucks, to the point of having 151 different types and models in service. By contrast
the U.S. used one primary truck the deuce and a half , thus reducing the strain of having the
correct spares in the correct place when needed (Tucker Tucker, 2016, pp. 1034 1035). It should
also be noted that it was the U.S. that provided mechanized transport to all allied armies, which
was largely lacking prior to this. Thus the U.S. altered how all military forces view the role of not
only logistics but of mechanized transport in warfare. One other important change brought on
during WW2 was the use of air logistics. To a limited extent

Taking a Look at Types of Disasters
According to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (n.d), the
definition of disaster is known as: an unexpected, catastrophic event that extremely disturbs the
functioning of a community or society and causes human, material, and environmental losses that
go beyond the community s ability to handle using its own resources. In addition, the disaster could
be classified into two category which are the natural disaster and also human made disaster. First, a
natural disaster is known as the naturally occurring event or changes in natural phenomenon that
has disastrous impacts towards the society. The extent of loss vary to the vulnerability of the
population, and also the scope and intensity of the disaster. Examples for natural disasters are
earthquake, typhoon, volcanic eruptions, flood and so on. Conversely, human made disaster is
known as the event that often caused by the negligence or human error which lead to a disastrous
impacts towards the society. Example of human made disasters are technological hazards such as
nuclear weapons, transportation hazards like airplane crash, and so on. Ten years ago, there was a
massive undersea earthquake which known as the Sumatra Andaman earthquake that occurred at 26
December 2004. The earthquake was classified as natural disaster that caused by the movement of
tectonic plates under the ocean which lead to a series of destructive tsunamis that hit and impacted

New York City, United Statesof America, became the art capital of the world. Why? It is arguably

an associate, soon after being appointed governor. With obedience and schooling, Long s mind
could have made him a success in many different areas. However, Huey was never disciplined or
educated in the correct way, therefore causing him to borrow other s ideas. Much to the peoples
surprise, by 1930 Long had changed state politics drastically. Chapter four begins to tell what
occurs in Long s adventurous life next. At age 34, Huey Long was the second youngest
governor in the history of Louisiana. Because of his youthfulness, Long was inexperienced in
certain areas of politics. Making some strategic errors and miscalculating legislators attitudes
along the way, Long learned from his mistakes. Long possessed the qualities of understanding
the will of the people and that his power was basically dependent on approval of the people.
Although it seemed like Long was serving his office well, Cecil Morgan decided to lead a
movement to impeach Long. Huey was outraged, and began to use his power to his advantage by
threatening the job of Morgan s father. Long also began to manipulate and gain control over city
jobs; convincing them to give five to ten percent of their paychecks to the machine . Although
many people didn t believe Long s actions and

The Salem Witch Trials And Its Impact On American Society
Did you know that the Salem witch trials resulted in the execution of only twenty people? Most
people believe that hundreds of people were executed during the Salem witch trials, which is often
a very common thought but in actuality only twenty people (mostly women) were executed. The
Salem witch trials was a huge part of American history, they are important to remember because
they are probably a crucial turning point for America, because before the trials religion and
superstition were very important and after the trials happened rational thinking became more and
more important. The Salem witch trials had such an impact on American people that they are still
remembered and talked of in today s society. These trials are still today widely thought of as being
important, because they showed an excellent example of how people hate or fear what they do not
understand, which is still a behavior that is seen in present society. The Salem Witch Trials had
many causes which all could have been prevented if the Puritan government would have taken the
time to investigate the accusations of the alleged crimes being committed. The Salem witch trials
provide many interesting aspects to discuss such as, the historical information on the Salem witch
trials, how the Puritan government could have prevented this by not accepting spectral evidence,
and why the puritan government was so willing to accept the accusations being made. The first
interesting aspect of the Salem witch trials is the

The Pros And Cons Of Texting
Since the start of communication, engineers have been searching for ways to advance the way
we connect with one another from the pictograph, to the landline telephone, even to our
revolutionary smartphones. However, one advancement that really made it s mark on our
society and culture was texting, which almost everyone from ages 10 to 50 has participated in
at some point in their lives. While texting is seen as a positive in younger people s eyes, the
older generation often feels it s a negative. John Humphrys, author of I H8 Txt Msgs , in
particular, has his own pronounced opinion on texting, and is not a strong advocate for it. David
Crystal, who has written many pieces on texting, but specifically 2B or Not 2B? , on the contrary,
believes that texting is not a bad thing, and it actually impacts texters in a positive way. Of the two
authors, David Crystal provides a much more convincing argument through providing statistics and
details, whereas John Humphrys uses his personal opinions in an attempt to convince readers.
Crystal s ability to conceptualize (or rationalize) texters motivations for abbreviating strengthens
his argument by making him sound more knowledgeable as a writer. To begin his argument,
Crystal makes the excellent point that people would not send texts that are unreadable, especially
when texting is a service that is not free. It also is not all the time that people will send text with
slanguage (Crystal 1), since not all situations will call for

how many people crossing a day, by 1961. Even John Fitzgerald Kennedy agreed that It s not a
very nice solution, but a wall is a heck lots better than a war . Life or Death The wall was built
from two concrete walls, each one hundred and sixty yards long, with hundreds of watch towers,
and other trap mechanisms. Because of these trap mechanisms people had to become more creative

I Stand Here Ironing, an Analysis Essay
I Stand Here Ironing by Tillie Olsen is a short story that talks about a handicapped child. Emily
had to struggle a whole lot on her short life, but at the end she proved to be a very strong child.
Tillie Olsen s characterization of Emily shows a strong female protagonist who overcomes
numerous odds: loneliness, humbleness, vulnerability, and her disability.
The story is based on a child named Emily that has a physical disability. Emily lived in a family of
five children. She always had a reason why we should stay home (Olsen 601). Emily is lonely.
When she was a toddler, she was left in a day care so Emily s mom could bring income to the
house. Emily is a child that, as many others, grew up mostly on day care. Emily was ... Show more

Mother, I told it to Susan) (Olson 603). Emily was a child that did not have any envy towards her
sister Susan, because she was so much different in many aspects. The difference of the age did not
interfere. Emily was always willing to play and teach her sister new things. They shared so many
things and enjoyed the company of each other. Their mother sometimes would keep Emily home so
they could spend time together. Emily would take advantage of her illnesses, so her mom would

Emily is very vulnerable mostly because of her appearance. She tormented herself enough about
not looking like the others, there was enough of the unsureness, the having to be conscious of
works before you speak, the constant caring what are they thinking of me? Without having it all
magnified by the merciless physical drivers (Olson 603). Emily is a skinny, fragile, and sick
child, and in the outer world, other kids without values would point her out. Emily is always
insecure about what she says, or does in front of others. The insecurity of not being able to be her
own person is always on her mind.

Fashion Illustration Essay
Illustration is an art that allows to create an amazing aesthetics that is hard to remake or achieve
with the same aesthetic value using digital technologies or photography because of the emotional
atmosphere, transfer of mood of the work of art and detailed visualization of images. The term
illustration itself has a several meanings, but the most known is art design . In the past, illustration
due to its characteristics been only associated with books and magazines as a support for a text.
However, as the time passed illustration became an individual type of art that no longer need to
play a supporting role for anything. This evolution leads illustration forward to the division of a
broader term into narrower subtopics, which introduced the creation of fashionillustration. From
that point, it was clear that fashion illustration is one of the oldest and most important movements
in the history of illustration. Through the time, it has always had a touch with graphic design and
fine arts, it has an undeniable influence on fashion and vice versa. Right now, it is possible to

These past few weeks of health informatics have brought to light many important aspects of
technology within the health setting. My fellow classmates and I have gotten the chance to dig
deep and learn about the use of health informatics within evidence based nursing, methods patient
s use to find health information, online Communities of Professional Practice (CoP), and the use
of Electronic Health Records (EHR) in addition to Personal Health Records (PHR). I believe
these innovations can be increasingly helpful in the care process, but they are each still

Breakdown may occur for a number of reasons including nurses removing the human aspect from
the relationship as a result of being overly reliant on online health information. This over
reliance can thereby lead to a decrease in the nurse s communication, openness, and focus on the
patient. As a result, it will be my job as a Registered Nurse (RN) to prevent this breakdown by
spending less time searching for information and more time focusing on the patient and his or
her health needs. Moreover, when searching for relevant information to use within the practice
setting, nurses and other healthcare providers are subject to the filter bubble. This concept
involves the Internet filtering information to suit one s personality as a result of storing what
someone has reviewed in the past and drawing on these characteristics in future searches
(Badenocha, Perez Gaxiola, 2015). I personally do not see any positive aspects associated with
filter bubbles. I see them as an invasion of personal privacy and a cause of unnecessary
complications, especially for nurses looking up health information. This is because the bubble
could not only remove online information critical to care, but also present biased information.
Therefore, as a RN I must be aware of this filter bubble so that I can complete a

The Usa Patriot Act By John Walker
Nonetheless, the alarm of the terrorists ought not to make Americans surrender their lifestyle.
Americans ought not to be compelled to yield what our nation is glad for, including majority rules
system and opportunity of representation. On account of the University of California San Diego
(UCSD) organization banning the connection to the terrorist site, the USA Patriot Actwas translated
mistakenly. Their choice to boycott the hyperlink was an infringement of the right to speak freely.
A connection to a site ought not to be seen as correspondences gear.

Then again, the UCSD understudies pay for the right to gain entrance, accordingly providing for
them their own particular rights to the right to gain entrance and how they utilize it. In the event
that the colleges were giving the server access to the understudies free of charge, then it would be
an alternate story. Yet, since the understudies are paying for the right to gain entrance, they get
rights through the exchange. Case in point, the vast majority would concur that the college would
not be permitted to preclude understudies from connecting to a site which condemned the college.
In spite of the fact that, if UCSD contended that they claim the server and they can confine their
clients however they see fit, how is this contention not the same as the case close by?
The Americans dread of terrorists ought not to make them surrender what their nation is about. The
United States is about vote based system and opportunity of articulation. There is no compelling
reason to yield flexibility of statement with a specific end goal to stop the terrorism. Regardless of
the fact that the terrorism is decreased on the grounds that individuals were eager to surrender their
own particular rights, then the US will wind up with an alternate real issue which could adversely
influence the nation considerably more. That issue would be that the flexibility of declaration
would be significantly more confined. In the event that higher

A Closer Look On How Foreign Doctors Are Discriminated
A Closer Look on how Foreign Doctors are discriminated A lot of people are bewildered why
more foreign doctors are not invited to work in American workplaces. There is a severe
discrimination and prejudice amongst anyone who is not an innate U.S. citizen. One of the main
reasons why Americans are trying to push foreigners away is for the safety of their nation. Some
Americans think that all foreigners are terrorists and are set out to destroy Americans but this is
not true at all. In fact, statistics show that foreigners actually bring good to the nation. Brian
Palmer, author of Slate magazine says, During the 1990s, a series of studies showed that
graduates of foreign medical colleges performed slightly worse on exams than their U.S. trained
colleagues, and program heads gave marginally better reviews to domestic physicians. By the turn
of the century, however, that gap had disappeared. International graduates now score higher than
U.S. educated doctors on many exams (Palmer). This was shocking to know that even though
foreign doctors are doing better than domestic doctors, they are still mistreated. Mistreatment of
doctors not only spans out nationwide but hits close to home as well. I know a person who had to
endure this cruel experience. I truly care for her and she inspires me to be a doctorlike she is. For
the sake of anonymity and spilling private personal information, I will call her Jane Doe and omit
some details. A couple weeks ago, I interviewed her on

inanimate accoutrements that travel with us. Maybe a collusion, maybe conspiracy or possibly it s

appears, have provided aid to abet their nefarious plans. This pattern of treacherous behavior began

Role Of Aegir In Vikirs
During the times of voyages the Vikings loved and feared the ocean. The reason behind this is
because of the god Aegir. Aegir is the god of the ocean and rules virtually every ocean in The Nine
Worlds. He is seen as a vigorous elemental god. Aegir was a huge part of the and ocean because of
this people have said when their has been a ship wreck it had gone into Aegir s jaws . He also
provoked storms and sea, either to do it carelessly or just because he liked to do it. The Vikings
loved and feared him because if he was not on your side your voyage could end badly. Because of
this the Vikings often held sacrifices for him.27

It is widely believed that the Vikings cremated the bodies of the dead which means they would burn
the body at really hot temperatures making the flesh and bones turn into ash. After the body had

that by cremating the body the smoke would help them transfer them to their legitimate destination
in the afterlife. If they did not use the method of cremation they used inhumation, which meant that
you would bury the body in its present state under the ground. If they used this method they would
usually place dirt or stones on top of the body. Historians have also stated that it is believed that the

Chandler uses his style efficiently in The Big Sleep. Chandler s style is one that seems to come

  • 2. The Causes Of The Korean War Korea existed under Japanese control from 1910 until the end of World War II in 1945. After the war, the Korean Peninsula was divided into two states along the 38th parallel. The Soviet union controlled the communist north while the United States controlled the nationalist and anti communist south. Soviet general Terentii Shtykov established the Provisional People s Committee for North Koreain 1946 and Kim Il sung became chairman. Shtykov broke North Korea s stratified class system, nationalized critical industries, and as a result many fled to the south. Later that year, South Korean citizens resisted the rule of the Allied Military Government and continued to resist despite violent opposition until they declared their statehood in May 1948. Shortly after this, The Democratic People s Republic of Korea was established, and Kim Il sung became the premier leader. Shtykov suspected President Syngman Rhee of South Korea was planning an attack on North Korea, and so with the help of Jospeh Stalin, North Korea launched an attack on South Korea on June 25th, 1950. This started the Korean War, which was essentially a proxy war between America and the Soviets. The United Nations force (led by the United States) assisted South Korea in the war. China assisted North Korea, and would continue to follow this pattern of allying with North Korea until modern day. The war ended on July 27th, 1953. An agreement was signed that restored the original boundary along the 38th parallel. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What causes people to begin to imagine those things? From the cowboys featuring in movies to the loud blaring music the hillbilly neighbor plays, country music has brought its way to people around the world. This hillbilly music was derived from folk songs and popular songs from the English Scots and Irish settlers from the Appalachians and various regions in the South. The instruments used in early country music were the fiddle, guitar, the autoharp and a few others. The spark of country music to the public started in 1923 when country music was first recorded. A fief typically was a plot of land, including household servants, agricultural laborers, and anyone else who lived on the land; however, it was above all a diffuse bundle of loose claims on rights with which one obtained the right to participate in the game of power present in feudal societies. A fief did not necessarily have to be land, but it was overwhelmingly so in both France and Japan because of the natural economy, led by agricultural pursuits; the more important part of a feudal agreement was not the land, per se, but rather the ties between lord and recipient. Moreover, in punishment for breach of feudal contract, forfeiture of the land was possible; the lords in France had the right to reclaim their gifted fief if they felt they were not well served. There was also the option of escheat, which allowed the lord to take back their fief in default of a rightful heir. Fiefdom was common to both France and Japan. Shiki rights in Japan were defined as a right to profit from the land ; they acted as a sort of deed or title, which could be bought, sold, inherited, and divided as the recipient of ... The scenes created in Forrester s apartment remain, for the most part, in the dark. The darkness expresses that deeper, unsaid emotion Forrester is holding on to. Consequently, it gives Forrester a new attitude when he is by himself versus when Jamal is there. One night, Jamal takes Forrester to a basketball game, trying to pull Forrester away of his apartment allowing him to enjoy the activities he once did when he was younger. Not many people think about what racial profiling is, some people think it don t even think it exists or how it affects everyday lives, but you or anyone could have possibly done it. Racial profiling is the use of raceor ethnicity as grounds for suspecting someone to committing an offense. According to American Civil Liberties Union, Racial profilingis a nation wide problem. Stories have been reported across the country not only by everyday citizens, but doctors, lawyers, judges, legislators, police/military officers, and celebrities . Even though racial profiling is widespread, it should be stopped because of its negative effects on people and America. So why does racial profiling affect most races or ethnicity? In an article by Evan Horowitz from The Boston Globe, was a great point about racial profiling Horowitz says, When police start targeting people based on their race, it effectively puts a whole community under suspicion. What is more, it virtually guarantees that the innocent will regularly find themselves stopped by police, for little reason beyond the color of their skin . Strangers are not aware of each other s beliefs and attitudes on initial interaction, so uncertainty is high at this point. Experiences for the first time can be rather daunting. Especially when meeting someone new and of higher social standing. The degree of separation between the two parties can leave a sense of unease or uncertainty. Charles Berger and Richard Calabrese developed what came to be known as Uncertainty Reduction Theory. (Brumfield, 2008). These feelings can easily be generated with someone new because of the uncertainty about social beliefs, common interests, political values, etc. The importance of a first impression sets the foundation for entering a new relationship with new co workers. Due to the important nature of this stage it can be very stressful, not to mention that these interactions are taking place with numerous people not a singular person. Learning new mannerisms and behaviors for every individual is the main way to reduce the uncertainty. The more the communication takes place the more barriers will come down and the quality of the conversations will increase. During the entry phase mainly demographics are shared, which is just enough information to get to know the new people in the workplace. Some of the demographics that will be shared are age, social status, economic status and topics of that nature. Development of those conversations start the personal phase, when opinions and beliefs begin to surface that indicates the steps into phase two. People are naturally information seeking, which decreases as uncertainty about the other person decreases (businesstopia.net, 2018). During this phase the conversations feel less forced and more fluid, being able to share more personal information without the worry of upsetting the other person. In a new workplace especially a new one it is important to establish personal relationships with people that will be working within a proximity every day. Over time the need to share rapid amounts of information will decrease and instead more qualitive information will be shared. That was the root of all the hardships that would come later in the book. The Bad Guy in The Grapes of Wrathwas not the banks, the landowners or the police. This is put in place in order to ensure that Ruby takes into account the most insignificant of details before she makes decisions. Ruby picks up on this change herself, stating late in that book that she didn t just look and decide Hey, it s not raining let s go! The newer version of the new [her] thought Nuh uh (329). The issue of morality stands as an overarching issue which touches on all of these. Overall, one finds that despite a moral imperative to intervene, humanitarian interventionshould not occur but is perhaps the lesser of a series of evils. However, it can be argued that the motives behind intervention are not as important as the interventions themselves the moral function of humanitarian intervention is to save lives and this can be achieved with or without altruistic motives. To this a possible reply is that seemingly unjust intervention may aggravate the receiving state, more so perhaps in military interventions than economic, political or social. A threatened state is arguably more likely to initiate a backlash. However, such an argument cannot be made against a UN sanctioned intervention, where it can be agreed that the intervention is legitimate and in the interests of the global community. The issue of marginalising state sovereignty completely ignores the fact that sovereignty is granted by the international community , . The arguments that states such as China may put forward, that state sovereignty is absolute and deserving of unadulterated respect, rests on the idea that states grant themselves sovereignty, which upon reflection, one finds to be untrue. State sovereignty can only be realised if it is acknowledged by the global society of states. Technology and digital media are mass media outlets that will ultimately affect our perception and ability to interpret and actively analyze messages. Unfortunately, nefarious characters with shady intentions can take advantage of this and spread false information. Thus, technology and digitalmediadegrade the most common forms of discussion. The rapid expansion of technology and digital medialeads to poor mental health, decreased quality of face to face communication, and the inability to discern false media sources. It is imperative that society acknowledges our decline in face to face communication and respond as a unified unit to strive to step away from technology and to interact with those around us more effectively. Technology has expanded at an unprecedented rate. Per the U.S. Census, 76% of households reported having a computer in 2011, compared with only 8% in 1984 . (Drago, 2015, p.2). Computers and digital media allow us to access information far more readily than ever before. From the introduction of computers, humans have adapted to this new technology, bringing it into our households and including them in daily routines, giving the ability to access digital information without needing to read it from a physical direct source. Long gone are the days where painstaking research meant going to the library and pouring through countless pages of research notes, papers, encyclopedias, and reference material. The need to find something is brought up and the cultivated 21st century instinct reverts individuals to Google or to other digital media outlets for our information. Digital media as well has expanded swiftly. From 2005 to 2009, participation in digital networking sites more than quadrupled (Chou, Hunt, Beckjord, Moser, Hesse, 2009, pg.1). Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms ( Adr ) Within the Australian justice system, Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms (ADR) have historically been perceived as a means whereby parties can seek to resolve a variety of disputes, but in a non judicial manner. As we move further into the 21st century, the rising costs associated with lengthy and often ineffective litigation, accompanied with a need to reduce burdens placed upon our legal system have allowed for a notable shift away from the courts as the primary means of dispute resolution, with a growing number of parties preferring ADR as the most appropriate means to bring about a more cooperative approach to legal matters. In the past, it has been largely up to the parties to identify the issues that are in dispute, which would then later be adjudicated in the appropriate court. Many scholars have strongly advocated in favour of adopting pre action requirements, whereby parties are encouraged to negotiate disputes prior to the commencement of litigation. Lord Wolff in his 1996 report into the UK justice system importantly notes that the present system... is too expensive in that the costs often exceed the value of the claim; too slow in bringing cases to a conclusion and too unequal: there is a lack of equality between the powerful, wealthy litigant and the under resourced litigant . Jesus always stood with poor and disenfranchised, fed and healed them, preached against the power bases of society and government and refused to draw weapons against the Roman soldiers when they came to arrest him. He knew that making an enemy is not the way to make friends since making enemies has predictable consequences, the enemies naturally fight back, he urged for kindness and forgiveness. The believers kept alive the gesture and upheld the values he taught. JESUS knew the world was but a hell without love and compassion. Hence, he transacted his life for love and erased the sins of others. Muslims around the world adulate the impact this magnificent prophet created in human history that condemned hatred and violence. Muslim also treats the followers of JESUS as the right people of the holy book. It is, however, bewildering to realize, in contrast, the contemporary intellectuals and politicians untiringly demonize faith, nations and race. None of the virtues of Jesus were adhered to by the politicians and most of the others who claim to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Political And Economic Theory Is An Often Contentious Subject Political and economic theory is an often contentious subject as it relates to how much interference governments should be allowed when it comes to rights and welfare of the public. One of the most debated topics asks the question is it a part of the government s role to take wealth away from the rich to give to the poor? John Rawlsand Robert Nozick offer two differing theories about the role of government in distributing wealth. John Rawls argues that a just society must have equal rights for all. He defines a society as an organization of individuals who work together and create a social contract of moral and immoral actions. The goal of any society is to improve the lives of those who inhabit it, contradicting Nozick s belief that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second principle is called the difference principle which states that social or economic inequalities are only just if they help the most disadvantaged members of society. In this portion, Rawls does agree that material inequality is a necessity to encourage economic competition, but states that it is only just if it is then used to help those who have been disadvantaged by their social position. Rawls proposes that the difference principle is the core component of distributive justice and therefore justifies the redistribution of wealth from rich to poor at the hands of the state. Rawls develops the idea of an original position as a conception point and a justification for this theory of distributive justice. In this original position, an individual is standing behind a veil of ignorance which blocks out social class, economic class, sexuality or natural talents. In this place, an individual is in the position to make the most basic moral decisions because they face no external bias. If one knows no place in society, a rational person will make decisions that help those who are worse off. In the original position, the principles of justice would be agreed to by any rational human. This position supports the idea that while each person might have a different background, they should have a fair chance to pursue goals and the equality of opportunity despite these ... From children s pop up books to 500 page novels reading has always taken part in developing my life. From learning to write my name to using vigorous research and planning to construct a 7 page paper over the Scarlet Letterand the unfortunate events little Hester Prynneis forced to deal with, along with the thrilling task analyzing two juxtaposed literary works. Throughout my life writingand literature have helped to guide me in life and aides in my everyday life. In grades kindergarten through seventh I attended school at Piqua Catholic and more times than not was unsatisfactory in my writing and literature skills. I always seemed to be the kid that fell behind when reading a book or was constantly spelling words incorrectly. It was not that I did not care or never did my work, I tried but nothing ever clicked for me. Tutoring was brought up in chat among my parents but they hoped that it would click eventually. My mother acted as my own personal tutor at times. In preparation for spelling tests we would take a cookie sheet and cover it in shaving cream. After my mom gave me a word I would spell it out in the shaving cream. This helped me to visualize the words while incorporating some fun into studying. First grade was nightmare for me, My teacher, Mrs. Quarter had suggested to my parents that I be held back because I was so far behind compared to the other children in my class. At times we would read together in class, taking turns by going around the room. It was embarrassing when the book came to me and every other word I would stumble and need help with pronunciation. Although Mrs. Quarter suggested I be held back a year that was not what she wanted. At times she would stay after school with me to practice reading with me which greatly benefited me. With Mrs. Quarters help my reading and writing greatly improved and by the end of my second grade year I was on honor roll. As I grew older and transferred to Troy City Schools I felt that my classes had gotten easier, especially English. I excelled in English, I will credit my English teacher Mrs. ... Even among recognized experts in warfare, up until the 20th century, logistics was eschewed as a necessary evil. The U.S. military has been one of the major if not primary innovators of logistics in warfare since WW1, and particularly during and after WW2. In fact, during WW2 the Germans lacked mechanized transport to a stunning degree, and to further complicate matters, the Germans lacked standardization. The lack of standardization is shown by the Luftwaffe having over 425 models and variants of aircraft it relied on. Whereas the U.S. strove to rely on fewer models to streamline the requirements for spare parts. Additionally, 80 to 85 percent of the Wehrmacht was supplied by horses, in fact the Germans used more horses during WW2 than they had during WW1. Further complicating matters, to mechanize transport for 15 percent of their military they confiscated trucks, to the point of having 151 different types and models in service. By contrast the U.S. used one primary truck the deuce and a half , thus reducing the strain of having the correct spares in the correct place when needed (Tucker Tucker, 2016, pp. 1034 1035). It should also be noted that it was the U.S. that provided mechanized transport to all allied armies, which was largely lacking prior to this. Thus the U.S. altered how all military forces view the role of not only logistics but of mechanized transport in warfare. One other important change brought on during WW2 was the use of air logistics. To a limited extent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the main reasons why Americans are trying to push foreigners away is for the safety of their nation. Some Americans think that all foreigners are terrorists and are set out to destroy Americans but this is not true at all. In fact, statistics show that foreigners actually bring good to the nation. Brian Palmer, author of Slate magazine says, During the 1990s, a series of studies showed that graduates of foreign medical colleges performed slightly worse on exams than their U.S. trained colleagues, and program heads gave marginally better reviews to domestic physicians. By the turn of the century, however, that gap had disappeared. International graduates now score higher than U.S. educated doctors on many exams (Palmer). This was shocking to know that even though foreign doctors are doing better than domestic doctors, they are still mistreated. Mistreatment of doctors not only spans out nationwide but hits close to home as well. I know a person who had to endure this cruel experience. I truly care for her and she inspires me to be a doctorlike she is. For the sake of anonymity and spilling private personal information, I will call her Jane Doe and omit some details. A couple weeks ago, I interviewed her on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Disillusion In James Windy s Exotic Hawaii Exotic Hawaii is a flyspeck in a vast ocean, a land of adventure, exploration and derring do that has provided inspiration for countless mystery and adventure tales. There s even some indication that there s been some collusion with the locals who, it appears, have provided aid to abet their nefarious plans. This pattern of treacherous behavior began innocently enough while eating lunch in one of our favorite eateries in Honolulu, an establishment long known for attracting only the most elite of clientele. We re... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It must be a preconceived plan. C.C. flies west following the flock of paper ducks. He zooms out of the dining area waving the paperwork, calling, See ya, suckers. It is widely believed that the Vikings cremated the bodies of the dead which means they would burn the body at really hot temperatures making the flesh and bones turn into ash. After the body had turned into ash the Vikings would either scatter, bury or sail it out to the sea. The Vikings believed that by cremating the body the smoke would help them transfer them to their legitimate destination in the afterlife. If they did not use the method of cremation they used inhumation, which meant that you would bury the body in its present state under the ground. A person uses a newspaper to understand, but in The Big Sleep the newspapers lie about the truth. The deceitfulness of the newspapers is seen when they lie about murders. Geiger had been slain by the Sternwood s chauffeur, Owen Taylor, but the newspapers claimed that a man named Joe Brody, who was a small time criminal, another pawn in the game, was responsible for the murder. Even bigger players, like gambling ring leader Eddie Mars states, I get them the way they happen, not the way you read them in the papers, (Chandler 131) even further showing how stories are changed by the police for their benefit and the truth is hidden from the papers, and therefore from the public. Chandler s style is one that seems to come easily to him and it also seems very natural to the reader, perhaps because there is not a lot of high, eloquent language. Rich in description and dialogue, the characters seem more realistic to the reader as a result of such details and natural speech. Chandler includes many descriptive words, similes, metaphors; yet they are not complicated or ambiguous which may lead to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
