Weather Report Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of a "Weather Report" may initially seem like a straightforward
task, as weather is a common and daily experience for everyone. However, delving deeper into
the subject reveals a complexity that makes the writing process more challenging than one might
expect.
To begin with, weather is a dynamic and multifaceted phenomenon influenced by various factors
such as atmospheric pressure, temperature, humidity, wind patterns, and geographical location.
The challenge lies in presenting these intricate details in a way that is accessible to a diverse
audience with varying levels of scientific understanding.
Moreover, capturing the essence of a weather report requires a delicate balance between technical
accuracy and engaging prose. It's not just about presenting dry facts but also about conveying
the impact of weather on individuals, communities, and the environment. This involves
incorporating real-world examples, anecdotes, and relevant statistics to make the information
relatable and meaningful to the reader.
Another difficulty arises in the ever-changing nature of weather conditions. While writing, one
must stay updated on the latest meteorological data to provide accurate and timely information.
This demands continuous research and the ability to adapt the essay to reflect the current state of
weather patterns.
Additionally, finding a unique angle or perspective to make the essay stand out can be
challenging. Weather is a common topic, and the risk of producing a generic piece is high.
Writers need to think creatively, perhaps by exploring the cultural significance of weather, its
impact on historical events, or its role in literature and art.
In conclusion, although writing an essay on a "Weather Report" may seem deceptively simple at
first glance, the task becomes intricate due to the need for scientific accuracy, engaging
storytelling, adaptability to real-time data, and the quest for a distinctive perspective.
Overcoming these challenges requires a blend of research skills, creativity, and a deep
understanding of the subject matter.

Meet Xavier, a Male Nurse Who Lost His Wife Essay
Xavier is a 32 year old, African American, widowed male. After the loss of his wife
he escaped into his work as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CAN) in order to avoid the
pain of his loss. However, because of this he also avoided processing the loss of his
wife. Approximately six months ago he was laid off from his job after 11 years as a
CNA, and as a result he was no longer able to properly care for himself or pay his
bills, which resulted in the lossof his housing. Subsequent threats of suicide led to a
month long hospitalization, and he was treated for Major Depression. After which
Xavier made arrangements to live with a friend, and upon his release from the
hospital it was recommended that he continued care in an outpatient... Show more

The therapist believes the clients are completely capable of healing themselves; he
or she just needs the proper environment in which to realize this. The therapist
focuses on the person rather than the problem, and with the aid of thorough
discussion and a caring, empathetic environment the client will realize he or she
can become self reliant in creating goals and coping with problems. The therapist
would see Xavier as someone suffering from a discrepancy between his self
concept and his experience in reality (Corey, 2009). Xavier sees himself as a
burden and not a real man due to his change in lifestyle over the last year. He has
built up a mask through socialization and he needs to remove it so that he can focus
on what he thinks of himself and become less concerned about what others think of
him. The therapist would see Xavier as completely capable of working through his
problem with the aid of their relationship. Within the structure of the relationship
between Xavier and his therapist, Xavier s self healing will be activated (Corey,
2009). All Xavier needs is empathy and acceptance and he will learn to feel those
things about his self.
What might help Xavier?
The person centered therapy approach suggests that it isn t the therapist who is
helping the client per se, but the client who has the ability to find their own solutions.
Therefore, the therapeutic process would not be an attempt to change Xavier;
Palladio s Influence On America
Prior to writing his four published book on architecture Palladio had written two
different books that was based on architecture. These books were published in
1554 in Rome while he was visiting Daniele Barbaro. Essentially the purpose of the
books was to serve as guidebooks for historical monuments within Rome. The first
book he had written contained short descriptions for travelers that discussed the
appearance and history of classical ruins. His guidebook was actually a replacement
for an older medieval guidebook, which focused more on the mythical side of Rome.
Palladio s book stood out because he pertained more to factual information rather than
fictional. Many people, who were visiting Rome, bought the first book because they

His design features such as porticos, classical orders, and dwellings have inspired
many American architects to recreate these designs in their buildings. As previously
mentioned, porticos represent the importance of the residents and enhanced the
architecture. The Frascati building in Virginia proves that the portico served as a
symbol of importance because the resident was a member of the U.S. Supreme
Court. This buildings portico is almost identical to Palladio s Villa Emo s. There are
many other buildings in America that have integrated this feature into their designs
following Palladio s principles. Nevertheless there are other modern day architects
who did not follow his principles and the porticos are unsymmetrical. Although some
have failed to follow his principles there are some buildings that portray his designs
well. An example of an American building with a portico is Whitehall. The portico is
located in the central section of the building. Along with the portico the architect of
this building incorporated Corinthian columns into the design, a classical order that
was seen in many of Palladio s

At a court hearing on Thursday evening, a lawyer representing Kodak creditors
questioned management s plan to borrow $US950 million to stay afloat during the
bankruptcy process, noting the company had burned through $US2 billion in the
past two years trying to reinvent itself. From our perspective, what s past is
prologue , said lawyer Michael Stamer. They have taken what we believe is
reckless and destructive spending and imposed them on this case . At the end of
the four hour hearing, Kodak won approval for $US650 million in interim
bankruptcy financing, led by Citigroup. Under Perez, who joined Kodak from
Hewlett Packard in 2003 and became chief executive in 2005, the company has
tried to reinvent itself by focusing on printers, packaging and workforce software.
Perez financed those efforts with billions in licensing fees from Kodak s intellectual
property, but analysts warned that Kodak was burning through cash too quickly and
could eventually run out. Kodak announced in July that it would try to sell some of
its digital imaging patents, hoping to cash in on a frenzy for intellectual property
that drove Google s $US12.5 billion takeover of Motorola Mobility. But Kodak
failed to draw enough interest among potential buyers, driven in part by fears of the
company s deteriorating financial health. Mr Perez said his turnaround efforts were
hurt by the recession, which slowed new business growth and expedited
My Writing-Year Writing, Reading, And Writing
Written word and reading came to me in the way oil is introduced to a cup of
water, a sudden disagreement. I have never Liked reading or writing, but in 6th
grade I began to truly despise it. I was always a math and science person ,but I
knew could write a well versed and attention grabbing story and essay. My downfall
however, was that I could never write them the right way. Being that I always have
went through school each year writingwrong. The description of my 6th grade year
is what conjured up my decision to change that. This is the year I buckled down,
and I told myself that this will be the year I become a better reader as well as a better
writer. My 6th grade year began at Fulton Leadership Academy in East Point
Georgia, with it being a new school I went in to the year thinking this year will be a
breeze , but little did I know the hills and valleys that were destined for me to rise
,but also fall. My Teacher s name was Ms.Hicks, she was a nice lady but she was
all about business. She loved to read, no matter what genre. The expectation from
the beginning of the year was made clear that we will be reading stories and writing
about them all year and that we will master writing about the novels we havve read..
The year went by day by day till I was assigned my first paper. Of course I can write,
but I could never write in the right context or format. I began writing the
assignment, and could not figure out why my mindcould not reproduce the
The Effects Of Self Compacting Self Cured Concrete By...
ABSTRACT Self compacting concrete with suitable chemical admixtures like Super
Plasticizer and viscosity modifying agent can be cured, alternatively by addition of
an internal curing agent instead of using large quantities of water. Steel fibers on the
other hand have been used in cement and concrete composites for more than four
decades, most of the steel fibers were introduced in the market prior to 1980. This is
in sharp contrast to the continuous progress and development in the cement matrix
itself. The proposed aim of the experiment is to examine the behavior of self
compacting self cured concreteby changing the steel fiber content. The mix
incorporated 40 % replacement of cement with fly ash. The compressive strength and
flexural strength of concrete were compared with conventional concrete by adding
0.5%, 1% and 1.5% of steel fibers and a notable accession of 79% in flexural strength
was observed without compromising with the compressive strength.

Kraft Heinz Case Study
Strategic Issues and Actions
Strategy Model
The strategy of Kraft Heinz dramatically changed after the merger in 2015. The new
strategy is considered to be iconoclastic. This is because the new leaders of the
company are not reminiscing in the past or using the former strategies that worked
for the company. They did a complete overhaul to the leadership and the strategies
that worked for the company. The new company objectives are as follows: 1.
Profitable sales growth, 2 Best in class margins, and 3. A superior return of capital.
The company will no longer let employees slip in to the cracks and gain a retirement,
it must be earned.
Since 3G Capital is the holding company for Kraft Heinz they follow the
meritocracy model set forth by 3G. Colvin (2017) discussed the fact that those
who do good move forward and up, those that do bad get fired. It is almost biblical
Don t be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows he will also reap
(Galatians 6:7, Holman Christian Standard Bible). Colvin explains this when he
discusses the new CEO:
Kraft Heinz CEO Ber¬nardo Hees, for example, first became a CEO in 2005 at a
company called All America Latina Logistica, owned by a 3G Capital predecessor.
He was then made CEO of Burger King, a 3G Capital holding since 2010. He moved
up to be CEO of Heinz in 2013 and now of Kraft Heinz.
The infamous company, 3G, uses a private equity strategy, however 3G Capital does
not operate as a traditional private equity corporation.
The Exposure Of Chronic Stress And Trauma Essay
For many of the young people at LAYN the violence and trauma they experienced
throughout their life, almost always chronic and pervasive, is unimaginable. The vast
majority of RHY and foster youth have experienced complex trauma, and the young
people at LAYN are no different. These young people come to LAYN having
experienced multiple and concurrent traumas throughout their short lifetime
including: physical, emotional and sexual abuse often within the caretaking
relationship, community violence, victimization and sexual exploitation, extreme
poverty and homelessness, parental mental illness, substance abuse and incarceration,
and abandonment, illness and death. The traumas that RHY and foster youth
experience are compounded by their attachment history, developmental stage in life
and their experiences of discrimination and oppression throughout society.
The exposure of chronic stress/trauma, most often resulting in complex trauma, has a
significant impact on LAYN s young people, disrupting their development and
placing their social wellbeing at risk (Cook, Blaustein, Spinazzola van der Kolk,
2003). Complex trauma has been identified to impair the following areas of
functioning in children and youth: attachment, biology, affect regulation,
disassociation, behavioral regulation, cognition and self concept (Cook, et al., 2003;
Courtois Ford, 2013). These impairments result in many of the problematic behaviors
that young people engage in while at LAYN including:
Regional Critique of North America
Regional Critique of North America
The North American continent is located within the Northern, and Western
Hemisphere bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the East, South America to the
Southeast, Arctic Ocean to the North, and Pacific Ocean to the west. North America
precedes Africa and Asia in largeness since it accommodates twenty three states with
diverse population and cultures. North America comprises of 41 countries with United
States of America having the highest population and Montserrat (UK) having the
lowest population. The major cities of United States of America are notably, New
York, Ottawa, Washington, New Orleans, and Detroit. These States have different
features that shape environmental and economic growth. North America therefore,
has various critiques for both human and physical geography.
In the book North America: The Historical Geography of a Changing Continent by
Thomas F. McIlwraith, and Edward K. Muller, the writer describes North America as
a continent that developed gradually over many years. However, the statement past
and present are simplifies notions of our conceptions of time is inappropriate because
developments and growth of the present precedes what happened in the past.
Furthermore, North America is a haven of archeology, culture, parks, science
museums, world s fairs, and golf courses. These properties have been elevated for
many years by tranquil environment, clean water systems together with plants, and
animals found in the

How Does Mary Shelley Use Robots In Frankenstein
Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley was an english novelist and poet, who is well known
for works such as Frankenstein and Prometheus. Shelley grew up during the
enlightenment period in england. This period was a period of question and
advancement in technology/ science. Shelley was always skeptical of this new
technology and in her novels such as Frankenstein she in directly warns people of
the dangers of what this new technology could do. Frankenstein is a novel about a
scientist named Victor Frankenstein. Victor brings to life a monster made from the
body parts of dead humans. Throughout the entire book this monster torments and
consumes Victor s life, killing everyone that he loves. That is Shelley s warning to
the reader, when you try and play god bad things will happen.... Show more content

Robotics is the branch of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and
computer science that deals with the design, construction, operation, and application
of robots, as well as computer systems for their control, sensory feedback, and
information processing. (Chen) There are many types of robots, all of which have
their pros and their cons. Robots are very similar to Victor s Monster in that each is
made of different parts and each has the ability to think for itself. In Mary Shelley s
Frankenstein, Shelley warns people of the dangers of advanced technology through
Victor Frankenstein s monster, which overtook Victor s life.If you give something the
means to think and problem solve by itself, then you have to consider the fact that it
might use that intelligence to do wrong. Like Victor s increasingly intelligent
creation, the future of robotics has the potential to overtake and ruin the lives of
many people while at the sametime changing it for the

The purpose of the experiment was to find a solution which would prevent an

effect on the browning of cut apples. My lab partners and I thought that if we

compared to other solutions. Solution A had a pH of 4, solution B had a pH 3,
solution C had pH of 4, Solution D had a pH of 4. All the solutions apples including
the no solution apples had a browning scale of 0 at the 0 minute mark. After 24
hours of soaking solution A had an average browning of 3, solution had B had an
average browning of 0, solution C had an average browning of 3, solutions D had an

The Debate Over Race And Intelligence
The debate over race and intelligence had been fueled in 1994 when Charles A.
Murray and Richard Hernstein published a book called, The Bell Curve. The Bell
Curve was an analysis on the curve between race and intelligence. Due to the book
being published, scientists began working on multiple tests to try to understand the
correlation that was indicated in this book. This is such an emotional topic to argue
about because society could stereotype themselves based on a definitive answer about
race and intelligence. A white child could earn a 90 on a test, above the score that of
a black child has earned, but then an Asian child could outdo both of them. That is
where the correlation can present itself. Due to that example, race and... Show more

His findings have concluded that environmental factors explains 58 percent of IQ
variations around the world. If IQ tests were able to compare different backgrounds
of different races, it would be more apparent. An American clinical psychologist
Terrie Moffitt, said that negative environments (low social status or ineffective
parenting) could affect a child s intelligence even more (Parker/Morton 1). There is
a way to make a child smarter and that starts from an upbringing environment that is
positive (Hurley). While bringing in the genetics of an individual based on their skin
color, there are also different environmental factors that can contribute to the
correlation between race and intelligence. The American Psychological Association
studies have shown that environmental factors can contribute to an individual s
intelligence factor. Different revolution factors, natural selection factors, and
environmental differences have an impact (Saletan 4). For example, a black kid
living in a run down neighborhood may do worse than a white kid living in a rich
neighborhood. Due to this, most children feed off of their peers, either at school or
even at home. People in disadvantaged groups generally score lower on IQ tests than
those who are not disadvantaged (Jackson 1). Different races have different
advantages due to
Control Theory
6 The Complexity of Control Travis Hirschi 1935 University of Arizona Author of
Social Bond Theory Hirschi s Two Theories and Beyond T ravis Hirschi has
dominated control theory for four decades. His influence today is undiminished and
likely will continue for years, if not decades, to come (see, e.g., Britt Gottfredson,
2003; Gottfredson, 2006; Kempf, 1993; Pratt Cullen, 2000). Beyond the sheer
scholarly talent manifested in his writings, what accounts for Hirschi s enduring
influence on criminological theory? Three interrelated considerations appear to
nourish the appeal of his thinking. First, Hirschi s theories are stated parsimoniously.
This means that his theory s core propositions are easily understood (e.g., the lack of

His goal was to start a theoretical fight; he succeeded (see also Kornhauser, 1978).
Again, as a control theorist, he argued that these two perspectives asked the wrong
theoretical question: Why are people motivated to commit crimes? For differential
association theory, the answer was that youths are enveloped by a deviant culture that
they learn in interaction with others. This positive learning that is, learning to value
crime is what moves them to break the law. For strain theory, the blockage of goals
creates a frustration that is the engine that drives individuals into crime. Hirschi,
however, asserted that these theories were explaining something that did not require
explanation motivation. If humans would by their natures seek the easy and
immediate The Complexity of Control 111 gratifications inherent in crime, then they
did not need to learn to want to commit crimes or be driven into crime by
unbearable strains in order to break the law. In effect, such criminal cultural values
and strains were redundant and thus did not explain who would be a delinquent and
who would not be a delinquent. For Hirschi, of course, the proper theoretical question
was: Why don t people break the law? What differentiate offenders from non
offenders are the factors that restrain people from acting on their wayward impulses.
The theoretical task thus
The Fuel Of Diesel Cars
Diesel Cars have never been able to take a proportional share of the Automotive
market (in the US anyway). 2 Litre TDI Volkswagen Passenger Cars did the
impossible for quite a while; until it came to light that they were cheating on
emissions tests; likely killing diesel s future as a fuel. A year before Charles and
Frank made their first car, Rudolf Diesel patented the design for diesel powered
combustion engine. He believed that this would revolutionize the industry, because
diesel fuel harbored a higher concentration of energy per gallon (132Г—106 vs
155Г—106 joules, gasoline and diesel respectively; in terms of energy density).
The problem is that the exhaust is typically dirtier due to the much oilier nature of
the fuel. Diesel however, has a potential to be just as clean as gasoline is, but the
trade off is the added efficiency; Volkswagen Passenger cars cheated and lied about
the former to pad the latter, effectively killing the fuel s future. VW AG was
installing a Robert Bosch made defeat device, despite Bosch not condoning the way
it was used. The software within had an advanced algorithm that would figure out
when the TDI engine was being tested (is the car on a dyno i.e. not moving etc.).
During testing times, the engine would optimize for clean emissions, at all other
times 2 Litre TDI Volkswagen Passenger Cars were maximizing mileage to the
detriment of the environment. Traditionally diesel cars are heavier and costlier than
their petrol powered counterparts. Not
Changing Faces Within The Workforce
Diverse Workforce Through recent years society as well as the labor force have
taken notice in regards to the acceptability of having a diversified workforce.
During the course of recent years it has been said that populace unwittingly
hypothesized that by allowing diversity, our nation could suffer financial liability
rather than an economic strength, a view point that was seen by some, but not by
all. It becomes clear and concise that diversity isn t just the color of a person s
skin; it also goes into gender, national origins, weight of a person, sexual
orientation, and religion to name a few. As a leader, ensuring that all employees
receive a fair and equitable evaluation may be a challenge for some; this has been
recognized as a crucial part of the overall success of any establishment or
corporation. Changing faces within the workforce Before anyone can truly
understand the issues surrounding diversity within our workforce, it is safe to say
that they have to understand the meaning. Workforce diversity is defined as
diversity amongst employees that represents both a challenge and opportunity for
business. Today, the U.S. workforce is as diverse as it has ever been, and it is
becoming even more so (Lawrence Weber, 2014). Some of the diversity we are
seeing are as followed, but not limited to: More women are working than ever before:
Married women, those with young children and older women, in particular, have
greatly increased their participation in
The Heart Of Change By John P. Kotter
Introduction
The Heart of Change by John P. Kotter, is a collection of stories from actual people
who implemented change with in their organization. The author starts by giving the
take away message at the beginning. People change what they do less because they
are given analysis that shifts their thinking than because they shown a truth that
influences their feelings , meaning people won t change just because you give them
data stating they need change. They change because you make them see and feel the
change. This brings you to Kotter s See, Feel, Change formula for implementing large
scale change in an organization successfully. His formula constitutes of three things,
the first is to help people see the problems in the organization. After seeing the
problem, getting people to emotionally feel the need to change. This means reducing
the emotions that block change and improve on the emotions that support change.
The last step in the formula is to actually implement the change, with the help from
the lessons we will soon review. These lessons consist of eight steps giving in the
book, to ensure successful change is met and kept. The eight lessons are: increasing
the sense of urgency for change, building the prefect team to guide the success of
change, getting the vision of what you want to change right, communicating so that
people start buying in to change, empower change so that more people act on it,
create short term wins to build momentum, don t give up on
Book of Revelation
The Book of Revelation is the last profound book in the New Testament. It conveys
the significant purpose of Christianity by describing God s plan for the world and
his final judgment of the people by reinforcing the importance of faith and the
concept of Christianity as a whole. Accordingly, this book is the written record not
of wild dreams but the dramatic God sent visions given to one of God s servants,
John the Apostle. This book was written by John in 95 or 96 A.D. at the reign of the
Roman Emperor, Domitian, and is the revelation of Jesus Christ illustrating the
events that occur before and during the second coming of Christ. By using complex
symbolism and apocalyptic metaphor, the meaning of Revelation is defined: what is,

In Latin Revelatio means unveiling and in Greek apokalypsis means the removing of
a veil. The purpose of this book is the revelation of Jesus Christ and the final
judgment of the word of God. The coming of sin into the world, the establishment of
the economy of redemption, has necessitated the making known of truths not made
known by general revelation. Therefore, God has given the special revelation brought
to us in the Holy Scriptures. The scriptures reiterate the truths proclaimed in nature, in
history, and in man himself; and, in addition thereto, declare the salvation which God
has provided for mankind in Jesus Christ (Campbell).
In retrospect, revelation unveils God s future plan for the earth and is written to be
understood. Clearly the book of Revelation is the ultimate battle between good and
evil. It is the time when all sin will be judged, demons will be cast away, and Christ
will reign over the earth.
This is the word of God showing us his plan for the retribution of his son Jesus
Christ. By sending these words to John in a vision God is warning the people of
the world to repent for their sins and that the time is drawing near. John to the seven
churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and
which was, and which is to come; and from the seven spirits which are before his

What Is The Symbolism Of Caskets
#1 Symbolism of caskets Set by her father, Portia s suitors must choose the correct

on the outside that hint to their contents. These chests are symbolic of several human

The first chest is sparkling gold and brilliantly decorated. Inscribed on the outside

all that s inside is a skull holding a taunting message of failure. The message inside
reads all that glitters is not gold. The gold casket represents greed, showing that
those who chose the gold because of their own desire are shallow and selfish. They
didn t consider what was inside, only their own wishes, and this caused those
suitors to lose the lottery. This is symbolic of the idea that a desirable outside
doesn t mean the inside is as great. The beautiful outside is deceitful, and only
accounting for one s desires can mean a greater loss and disappointment. The gold
casket holds quite a bit of trickery, for the inscribed phrase seems like the right

Identify the components of a stock s realized return. A realized return is the amount
of actual gains that is made on the value of a portfolio over a specific evaluation
period. This takes into consideration any earnings generated by each of the assets
contained in the portfolio, as well as any losses that were incurred as a result of a
shift in the value of the individual assets. It is possible to identify the realized return
associated with each asset that is held in the portfolio. Components of realized return

A negative beta means that the asset s returns generally move opposite the market
s returns. One will tend to be above its average when the other is below its average.
Beta is also referred to as a financial elasticity or correlated relative volatility, and
can be referred to as a measure of the sensitivity of the asset s returns to market
returns. Measuring beta can give clues to volatility and liquidity in the marketplace.
Investors can find the best use of the beta ratio in short term decision making, where
price volatility is important. If you are planning to buy and sell within a short
period, beta is a good measure of risk.
State what WACC measures and explain the WACC assumptions used to value a
project. A company s assets are financed by either debt or equity. The weighted
average cost of capital measures the cost of capital of a company based on two
elements. One is the cost of debt and the other is the cost of equity. By taking a
weighted average, the interest the company has to pay for every dollar it finances
can be seen. The project cost of capital is equal to the firms WACC. Its projects
cost of capital depends on its risk, when the market risk of the project is similar to
the average market risk of the firm s investments. This is when its cost of capital is
equivalent for a portfolio of all the firm s securities. The most important assumption
used in the value of a project is the average risk. This is where we assess the

Alaska Access Pipeline Research Paper
Everyone has a right to their own opinion , a fairly famous quote both true for
celebrities and ordinary citizens alike. When there s a topic getting a lot of
attention from the main media outlets, celebrities are asked for their opinion on
where they stand on the topic. Yet, whether they are asked to give a statement or
not, they are still allowed to have the right to do so. No matter how large or small
your influence is in society, your voice shouldn t be hushed away because it wasn t
as agreeable as the others. Influence is power, and it can best show the difference
between the celebrity and the average citizen. Celebrities don t always use their
influence necessarily to try and alter viewpoints. An example of the power celebrity

Sequence In Hospital By Elizabeth Jennings
Thus the early 60s proved to be a very difficult period for Jennings mentally. Her
experience left her sensitive women who had triumphed over her weaker style.
However her struggle to develop her craft and to endure the mental pressures had
now resulted in producing a positive force that is a renewed interest in religion.
Many poems of this volume were not included in the Collected Poems. The reason
could be that there was much controversy about whether these poems were
confessional or not. Elizabeth Jennings does not think so and does not want to be
thought of in relation to Anne Sexton s poetry. (Interview). The most important reason
she states is that most of the poems in the book are about other people and not about
herself. This is true but she also writes about suicide, suffering and madness. At least
some of the experiences she made during her mental breakdown seem to be
reflected in a few poems of this volume. This collection of poems won the Richard
Hillary Award in 1966.
The poems in the Sequence in Hospital attain a prominent place in this collection
which forms their own enclosure like the hospital walls. These poems objectify
Jennings relationship to the enclosed condition of an unhealthy world. Within this
world, Jennings brings in representative aspects of a ... Show more content on

She describes her social obligations in an impersonal tone: They visit me, and I
attempt to keep/ A social smile upon my face. But she is experiencing very different
emotions underneath. When they are gone,/ I shall be limp and faint (193).But the
poems themselves are direct and there are no symbols of meaning hidden in the
images and language. The bare style also adds to the general mood of sickness and
exhaustion. The only indirectness that Jennings brings is perhaps the conscious
intellectual sing of emotions; this again is related to her poetic style rather than an
The Forbidden By Beverly Jenkins
Racial and gender stereotypes are vague assumptions that are generally negative in
the novel, Forbidden by Beverly Jenkins. They are false beliefs abstracted by
judgmental people based on a person s gender or ethnicity. Each person has their
respective thoughts, ambitions and passions despite their gender or race. These
stereotypes are ignorant and do not define every single person. Most people realize
that stereotypes are inaccurate, however they continue to make presumptions based
on ethnicity or gender. The author of Forbidden, challenges racial and gender
stereotypes by explaining how they are only crude generalizations which cause
disruptions in society because of people s belief that as long as they exist that they
must follow them.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In their mind, they felt a black person should not have done as much as Rhine did.
They had this idea that he shouldn t have contributed as much as he did because as
a black person he did not have the right. Despite the fact that he was still the same
person with the business knowledge and achievements, people began to vote against
his involvement within the town (Jenkins, 328). They did not want him in the
committee, there were people who believed that they shouldn t even be stepping
inside his saloon and more. Rhine s businesses and involvement within the town
would have definitely been a huge convenience for the town financially. Trying to
put a stop to all his establishments and engagements surely puts strains on the town s
finance and more. For example, Natalie s father himself was in debt and couldn t
afford to be the owner of his house, but because Rhine had the deed Mr. Lyman did
not have to pay the debt. Mr. Lyman, however demanded he had the deed back after
he heard Rhine s confession which only lead to him paying the debts immediately to
Rhine s brother (Jenkins, 327). If he hadn t had a problem with Rhine s heritage he
could have simply continued making payments slowly. Those who didn t want Rhine
s contributions were being ignorant only because they had the impression they
needed to follow the unwritten rules of how much a black member in their
community can participate in their town s

Students meet for three hours a week for 15 weeks.
Reading and Understanding College Textbooks emphasizes improvement of the
reading process and study skills necessary for understanding and learning college
level material; it focuses on strengthening reading comprehension and encourages
critical reading skills that are necessary for successful completion of college courses.
Students learn a variety of strategies to assist them in improving vocabulary,
comprehension, test taking abilities, and flexibility in reading.
Challenges and Goals
We chose to implement MyReadingLab beginning in fall 2013 due to a number of
challenges we had been facing. Previously, students had to take division exams on
an internal web portal in our tutoring and testing center. If students did not receive an
80 percent, they would have to work with a tutor in the computer lab to improve
their skills before taking the exam a second time. We experienced high volumes of
paperwork and grading errors, and students were not getting what they needed to
succeed.
MyReadingLab offers students a flexible, convenient way to remediate wherever and
whenever they choose. It provides instructors with all the necessary content in one
location and the ability to ensure consistency of topic mastery across sections. It has
been a goal of ours to tweak our MyReadingLab implementation each semester to
improve student results and

most powerful parts of the peach are the parents who govern over the seed, i.e. the

Argumentative Essay On Save Paper
Throughout the video, Joe Smith uses various opinions and facts to persuade
viewers to save paper towels. For starters, he uses an opinion by stating that we
could reduce the usage of paper. This is an opinion since it is subjective because
Smith cannot prove that everyone will save paper. Therefore, the statement about
reducing paper is a generalization since there is no guarantee that everyone will try
to reduce paper. Furthermore, he uses hedging by using the word we could which is
used to prevent some audiences from becoming offended that some of them might
incapable of saving paper towel. Another opinion is that he states that the audience
can save paper towels by just using one paper. This can be proven as an opinion from

The Pros And Cons Of Driverless Vehicles
Throughout the history of life style altering inventions, the automobile is the
fundamental transportation unit that our modern society operates on. This one
invention has not changed over the the one hundred years that the car has been in use
by society; the same basic principle is still there, you drive the car. Maybe with this it
is the time to switch our society from manual driving automobiles into autonomous
vehicles, what could go wrong? You see, despite the obvious benefits, there are a lot
of difficulties that lurk with this technology. One such difficulty includes the limited
ability of communication between the computer and the actual human as stated by
the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cummings). If the communication
between these two systems fail, the safety of the driver and others are in jeopardy,

Analysis Of The Article The Accidents Of Nature By...
The article Redefining Normal: A Critical Analysis of (Dis)ability in Young Adult
Literature by Jen Scott Curwood discusses the importance of proper disability
representation in young adult literature for the benefit of school children. Curwood
writes young adult literature should not only provide accurate portrayals of
individuals with disabilities, but must offer themes that are not didactic,
condescending, or pedantic (Curwood, 18) because literature about disabilities and
differences can be a powerful tool to heighten the achievement of all students by
broadening attitudes and perceptions of self and other (18). She also argues that if
schools don t include diverse characters and topics, then that effectively condones
prejudice and stereotypes and continues to further the othering aspect. In contrast to
Me Before You, the book Accidents of Nature by Harriet McBryde Johnson is a
book that provides readers with both a positive representation of life with disabilityas
well as showing a wide range of disabilities. Accidents of Nature is set in the year
1970 and is about a seventeen year old girl named Jean who has cerebral palsy and
uses a wheelchair to get around. Despite her condition, Jean has always thought of
herself as the same as everyone else as she goes to a normal , abled bodied school
and has normal abled bodied friends. She has never even known another disabled
person before going to Camp Courage for a week, a camp solely for disabled youths.

The International Court Of Justice
INTRODUCTION: International court of justice is a principal judicial organ of
United Nations organization and is also known as world court which was
established in 1945 by UN charter and began work in 1946. ICJ is successor of
permanent court of international justice which was dissolved after the 2nd world

a prominent position and decides legal issues of general importance. ICJ
comprises of fifteen judges who are elected for nine years by the general assembly
and the security council, regardless of their nationality. JURISDICTION OF ICJ :
According to Article 93 of the UN charter, all members of UN can automatically be
the parties to the court. For non members states, article 93 also provides the right to
the parties of the court if they wish to and willing to be bound by the jurisdiction of
court. For example, Switzerland used this method to become the party of the court in
1948. The court has jurisdiction over the states when the states accept the jurisdiction
of the court. So the court doesn t have compulsory jurisdiction over the states, since
there cannot be a central political authority over the sovereign states. Therefore, no
international tribunal can exercise jurisdiction over the sovereign states without their
consent. The jurisdiction of ICJ is based upon the consent of the parties. The
principle of consensual basis of the jurisdiction of ICJ

The values, makoto and aware, are also deeply ingrained into The Tale of Genji

who is a paragon of sincerity. The value of aware is quite Buddhist in nature and
describes the impermanence of all things. This is definitely the most significant
religious influence on The Tale of Genji because aware is the abounding theme
throughout the tale. Genji is constantly witnessing the impermanence of life. One
such example is when he loses his wife, Aoi, to childbirth. She is very sick and
fragile after the birth of their son, and Genji is deeply moved by her fragility, The
sight of her lying there, so beautiful yet so thin and weak that she hardly seemed
among the living, aroused his love and his keenest sympathy (Tyler, 179). After
Aoi s death, Genji takes it hard and life was intolerable to him (Tyler, 180). The
feeling of aware is embodied in Genji s reaction to Aoi s sickness and death;
moreover, the fragility of life is made clear to him
Corbel Research Paper
To Corbel or Not to Corbel: That is the Question! Whether tis nobler to have a sleek
modern look Or embrace classic lines and the additonal support of pretty brackets
The bottom line is corbels are dramatic, but are they overly so like Shakespeare?
Or are they addtional support to display your prized posessions? The word corbel
comes from the Latin word corbellus or raven, which refers to the bracket that juts
out like a beak. A corbel is a piece of stone, wood or metal that goes under a mantel,
arch or any overhang to carry addtional weight. But they also can be ornate, richly
carved pieces of functional artwork. In classical architecture corbels were used to
adorn the balconies of Italy and France in the 16th century, and the Paris trained
designers of Beaux Arts architecture were downright corbel crazy.... Show more

They can be very decorative and come in a broad range of designs, from simple
elegance to elaborately carved animals, fruit and faces. Corbels are also known as
cornices or brackets and modern corbels aren t as elaborate as classic ones. They
serve 2 purposes: decorative and supportive. Some choose vintage corbels that give
an antique look and others opt for no corbels at all for a sleek modern look. Three
Styles Mission corbels take their name from the southwestern Spanish missions,
they are boxy and simple Traditional corbels are uncomplicated and used for mostly
structural support. Classic corbels have an ornate Victorian style with elegant

The Legislative Branch Of The United States Holds Two
Houses.
The Legislative branch of the United States holds two houses. The Senate and the
House of Representatives. The House of Representatives consists of four hundred
and thirty five members and the number of representatives are based on each state s
population. The state of Massachusetts has nine districts and one representative for
each of the state s nine districts. The representative in control over my district is
Stephen Lynch and over his career as a Massachusetts representative he plays a very
important part of the House of Representatives for the state of Massachusetts and
knows his constituents well enough to be re elected in the next election. The

Congressman Lynch has been elected to the eighth district in 2012, 2014 and 2016
(Lynch, 2013). Being a part of these committees make Congressman Lynch very
important within the House of Representatives. With serving on the Oversight and
Government Reform Committee, the primary investigative committee of the House
of Representative, the Departments of State, Defense and Homeland Security and the
United States Agency for International Development, Congressman Lynch has
focused on conducting meaningful oversight of political, economic and security
developments abroad that would impact U.S. national security. Also as senior
member of the House of Financial Services Lynch has helped craft the Dodd Frank
Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. These actions has helped create
consumer protections, has ended government bailouts of the financial system and
imposed transparency and accountability requirements for the most complex markets
(Lynch, 2015). With this much responsibility and importance within the House of
Representatives his actions has lead to his multiple re elections. In this past 2016

the Massachusetts eighth district. Stephen Lynch ran for the Democratic ticket
against Republican William Burke. Congressman Lynch won seventy two point four

Method Of Fractional Distillation
In this experiment, an unknown mixture was separated using the method of fractional
distillation. This was done in order to identify each of the two compounds that the
mixture consisted of. The unknown tested in this experiment was Unknown 58. The
initial amount of 15.99 g of liquid was used. The weight of the liquid was converted
into volume once the two compounds were identified. The volume of the initial
liquid was found to be 18.44 mL. Since the original mixture contained the two
compound by a 1:1 ratio, each compound had a starting amount of 9.22 mL. This was
used to calculate the percent recoveries for both compounds. In the recovery of the
compounds, three fractions were taken. The pure compounds were present in the first
and third fraction... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The boiling points recorded for both compounds were slightly off due to an error
while performing the lab. The thermometer was set too low to the vigrex column,
resulting in lower boiling points. This can be fixed by raising the thermometer in
the stillhead to height of where the glassware splits. Even with this discrepancy,
the identity of both compounds was still confirmed. For fraction A, the IR RM 03
IRA was obtained. This spectrum contains a peak at 2877 cm 1 and a peak at 1106
cm 1. The second peak shows that the compound contains an ether. The presence of
this functional group and the lack of a carbonyl group and hydroxyl group
eliminated 9 of the 13 possible unknowns. The NMR spectra eliminated the other
three possibilities. The NMR spectra obtained for fraction A are RM 03 NMRA1
and RM 03 NMRA2. The 1H NMR, RM 03 NMRA1, showed only 2 types of
protons present, one represented at 3.47 ppm and the other at 3.32 ppm. It also
showed that there was acetone in the NMR tube by the presence of the peak at 2.09
ppm. There were only two compounds left that had two types of protons, 1,2
dimethoxtethane and

The Effect Of Communication On The Satisfaction Of A...
Why take another look at communication again? because most studies that have
been done, do the same thing over and over. They use self reports that are coded
themselves or that the research will have the participants code, tons of different
questionnaires that take time for the participants to do, and it is really not relevant
for the new generations. With the studies that have been done, almost half of all
first marriage still end in divorce. It looks like the system that we use to study and
try to help curb this just isn t working, because of the measures that are used it just
speak to the generation anymore. This study is different, it will use a video game as
the measure to study the effects of communication on the satisfaction in a
relationship. The video game doesn t take much time, and time is very important to
this generation that is always on the go. It is also a lot more relevant for this
generation of couples as well. This study will also be looking at specifically
communication in a stressful situation, which the studies have not covered before.
This is important because every couple as arguments and by studying this hopefully it
will curb the amount of arguments in the relationship and help lower the first
marriage divorce rates. There was a study done just recently that looked at whether
communication predicted satisfaction or satisfaction predicted communication? The
study didn t really find whether one predicted the other.(Lavner, et al, 2016, p. 1 15)

Weather Report Essay. Weather Weather Research Report by The Teacher Team TPT

  • 1. Weather Report Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of a "Weather Report" may initially seem like a straightforward task, as weather is a common and daily experience for everyone. However, delving deeper into the subject reveals a complexity that makes the writing process more challenging than one might expect. To begin with, weather is a dynamic and multifaceted phenomenon influenced by various factors such as atmospheric pressure, temperature, humidity, wind patterns, and geographical location. The challenge lies in presenting these intricate details in a way that is accessible to a diverse audience with varying levels of scientific understanding. Moreover, capturing the essence of a weather report requires a delicate balance between technical accuracy and engaging prose. It's not just about presenting dry facts but also about conveying the impact of weather on individuals, communities, and the environment. This involves incorporating real-world examples, anecdotes, and relevant statistics to make the information relatable and meaningful to the reader. Another difficulty arises in the ever-changing nature of weather conditions. While writing, one must stay updated on the latest meteorological data to provide accurate and timely information. This demands continuous research and the ability to adapt the essay to reflect the current state of weather patterns. Additionally, finding a unique angle or perspective to make the essay stand out can be challenging. Weather is a common topic, and the risk of producing a generic piece is high. Writers need to think creatively, perhaps by exploring the cultural significance of weather, its impact on historical events, or its role in literature and art. In conclusion, although writing an essay on a "Weather Report" may seem deceptively simple at first glance, the task becomes intricate due to the need for scientific accuracy, engaging storytelling, adaptability to real-time data, and the quest for a distinctive perspective. Overcoming these challenges requires a blend of research skills, creativity, and a deep understanding of the subject matter. For those seeking assistance with essay writing, a platform like HelpWriting.net offers a range of services where similar essays and much more can be ordered to meet specific requirements.   • 2. Meet Xavier, a Male Nurse Who Lost His Wife Essay Xavier is a 32 year old, African American, widowed male. After the loss of his wife he escaped into his work as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CAN) in order to avoid the pain of his loss. However, because of this he also avoided processing the loss of his wife. Approximately six months ago he was laid off from his job after 11 years as a CNA, and as a result he was no longer able to properly care for himself or pay his bills, which resulted in the lossof his housing. Subsequent threats of suicide led to a month long hospitalization, and he was treated for Major Depression. After which Xavier made arrangements to live with a friend, and upon his release from the hospital it was recommended that he continued care in an outpatient... The therapist focuses on the person rather than the problem, and with the aid of thorough discussion and a caring, empathetic environment the client will realize he or she can become self reliant in creating goals and coping with problems. The therapist would see Xavier as someone suffering from a discrepancy between his self concept and his experience in reality (Corey, 2009). Xavier sees himself as a burden and not a real man due to his change in lifestyle over the last year. He has built up a mask through socialization and he needs to remove it so that he can focus on what he thinks of himself and become less concerned about what others think of him. The therapist would see Xavier as completely capable of working through his problem with the aid of their relationship. Within the structure of the relationship between Xavier and his therapist, Xavier s self healing will be activated (Corey, 2009). All Xavier needs is empathy and acceptance and he will learn to feel those things about his self. What might help Xavier? The person centered therapy approach suggests that it isn t the therapist who is helping the client per se, but the client who has the ability to find their own solutions. Therefore, the therapeutic process would not be an attempt to change Xavier;
  • 3. Palladio s Influence On America Prior to writing his four published book on architecture Palladio had written two different books that was based on architecture. These books were published in 1554 in Rome while he was visiting Daniele Barbaro. Essentially the purpose of the books was to serve as guidebooks for historical monuments within Rome. The first book he had written contained short descriptions for travelers that discussed the appearance and history of classical ruins. His guidebook was actually a replacement for an older medieval guidebook, which focused more on the mythical side of Rome. Palladio s book stood out because he pertained more to factual information rather than fictional. Many people, who were visiting Rome, bought the first book because they found it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His design features such as porticos, classical orders, and dwellings have inspired many American architects to recreate these designs in their buildings. As previously mentioned, porticos represent the importance of the residents and enhanced the architecture. The Frascati building in Virginia proves that the portico served as a symbol of importance because the resident was a member of the U.S. Supreme Court. This buildings portico is almost identical to Palladio s Villa Emo s. There are many other buildings in America that have integrated this feature into their designs following Palladio s principles. Nevertheless there are other modern day architects who did not follow his principles and the porticos are unsymmetrical. Although some have failed to follow his principles there are some buildings that portray his designs well. An example of an American building with a portico is Whitehall. The portico is located in the central section of the building. Along with the portico the architect of this building incorporated Corinthian columns into the design, a classical order that was seen in many of Palladio s

With the slogan you press the button, we do the rest, Kodak gave consumers the first simple camera in 1888, making a cumbersome and complicated process easy to use and readily accessible. A major multinational organisation, Kodak was listed on the New York Stock Exchange and became a powerhouse in the photography industry. At a court hearing on Thursday evening, a lawyer representing Kodak creditors questioned management s plan to borrow $US950 million to stay afloat during the bankruptcy process, noting the company had burned through $US2 billion in the past two years trying to reinvent itself. From our perspective, what s past is prologue , said lawyer Michael Stamer. They have taken what we believe is reckless and destructive spending and imposed them on this case . At the end of the four hour hearing, Kodak won approval for $US650 million in interim bankruptcy financing, led by Citigroup. Under Perez, who joined Kodak from Hewlett Packard in 2003 and became chief executive in 2005, the company has tried to reinvent itself by focusing on printers, packaging and workforce software. Perez financed those efforts with billions in licensing fees from Kodak s intellectual property, but analysts warned that Kodak was burning through cash too quickly and could eventually run out. Kodak announced in July that it would try to sell some of its digital imaging patents, hoping to cash in on a frenzy for intellectual property that drove Google s $US12.5 billion takeover of Motorola Mobility. But Kodak failed to draw enough interest among potential buyers, driven in part by fears of the company s deteriorating financial health. Mr Perez said his turnaround efforts were hurt by the recession, which slowed new business growth and expedited
  • 5. My Writing-Year Writing, Reading, And Writing Written word and reading came to me in the way oil is introduced to a cup of water, a sudden disagreement. I have never Liked reading or writing, but in 6th grade I began to truly despise it. I was always a math and science person ,but I knew could write a well versed and attention grabbing story and essay. My downfall however, was that I could never write them the right way. Being that I always have went through school each year writingwrong. The description of my 6th grade year is what conjured up my decision to change that. This is the year I buckled down, and I told myself that this will be the year I become a better reader as well as a better writer. My 6th grade year began at Fulton Leadership Academy in East Point Georgia, with it being a new school I went in to the year thinking this year will be a breeze , but little did I know the hills and valleys that were destined for me to rise ,but also fall. My Teacher s name was Ms.Hicks, she was a nice lady but she was all about business. She loved to read, no matter what genre. The expectation from the beginning of the year was made clear that we will be reading stories and writing about them all year and that we will master writing about the novels we havve read.. The year went by day by day till I was assigned my first paper. Of course I can write, but I could never write in the right context or format. I began writing the assignment, and could not figure out why my mindcould not reproduce the
  • 6. The Effects Of Self Compacting Self Cured Concrete By... ABSTRACT Self compacting concrete with suitable chemical admixtures like Super Plasticizer and viscosity modifying agent can be cured, alternatively by addition of an internal curing agent instead of using large quantities of water. Steel fibers on the other hand have been used in cement and concrete composites for more than four decades, most of the steel fibers were introduced in the market prior to 1980. This is in sharp contrast to the continuous progress and development in the cement matrix itself. The proposed aim of the experiment is to examine the behavior of self compacting self cured concreteby changing the steel fiber content. The mix incorporated 40 % replacement of cement with fly ash. The compressive strength and flexural strength of concrete were compared with conventional concrete by adding 0.5%, 1% and 1.5% of steel fibers and a notable accession of 79% in flexural strength was observed without compromising with the compressive strength. Index terms: Self Compacting, Self Curing, Steel Fiber, Reinforced, Concrete, Superplasticiser, Viscosity Modifying agent пЃµ 1 INTRODUCTION S elf compacting concrete (SCC) is a flowing type of concrete that is able to consolidate under its own weight. It is a high performance concrete that has the ability to spread readily and fill the restricted sections including congested reinforcement structures without using mechanical consolidation. SCC was first conceptualized by Prof. Okamura of Japan in
  • 7. Kraft Heinz Case Study Strategic Issues and Actions Strategy Model The strategy of Kraft Heinz dramatically changed after the merger in 2015. The new strategy is considered to be iconoclastic. This is because the new leaders of the company are not reminiscing in the past or using the former strategies that worked for the company. They did a complete overhaul to the leadership and the strategies that worked for the company. The new company objectives are as follows: 1. Profitable sales growth, 2 Best in class margins, and 3. A superior return of capital. The company will no longer let employees slip in to the cracks and gain a retirement, it must be earned. Since 3G Capital is the holding company for Kraft Heinz they follow the meritocracy model set forth by 3G. Colvin (2017) discussed the fact that those who do good move forward and up, those that do bad get fired. It is almost biblical Don t be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows he will also reap (Galatians 6:7, Holman Christian Standard Bible). Colvin explains this when he discusses the new CEO: Kraft Heinz CEO BerВ¬nardo Hees, for example, first became a CEO in 2005 at a company called All America Latina Logistica, owned by a 3G Capital predecessor. He was then made CEO of Burger King, a 3G Capital holding since 2010. He moved up to be CEO of Heinz in 2013 and now of Kraft Heinz. The infamous company, 3G, uses a private equity strategy, however 3G Capital does not operate as a traditional private equity corporation.
  • 8. The Exposure Of Chronic Stress And Trauma Essay For many of the young people at LAYN the violence and trauma they experienced throughout their life, almost always chronic and pervasive, is unimaginable. The vast majority of RHY and foster youth have experienced complex trauma, and the young people at LAYN are no different. These young people come to LAYN having experienced multiple and concurrent traumas throughout their short lifetime including: physical, emotional and sexual abuse often within the caretaking relationship, community violence, victimization and sexual exploitation, extreme poverty and homelessness, parental mental illness, substance abuse and incarceration, and abandonment, illness and death. The traumas that RHY and foster youth experience are compounded by their attachment history, developmental stage in life and their experiences of discrimination and oppression throughout society. The exposure of chronic stress/trauma, most often resulting in complex trauma, has a significant impact on LAYN s young people, disrupting their development and placing their social wellbeing at risk (Cook, Blaustein, Spinazzola van der Kolk, 2003). Complex trauma has been identified to impair the following areas of functioning in children and youth: attachment, biology, affect regulation, disassociation, behavioral regulation, cognition and self concept (Cook, et al., 2003; Courtois Ford, 2013). These impairments result in many of the problematic behaviors that young people engage in while at LAYN including:

Regional Critique of North America Regional Critique of North America The North American continent is located within the Northern, and Western Hemisphere bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the East, South America to the Southeast, Arctic Ocean to the North, and Pacific Ocean to the west. North America precedes Africa and Asia in largeness since it accommodates twenty three states with diverse population and cultures. North America comprises of 41 countries with United States of America having the highest population and Montserrat (UK) having the lowest population. The major cities of United States of America are notably, New York, Ottawa, Washington, New Orleans, and Detroit. These States have different features that shape environmental and economic growth. North America therefore, has various critiques for both human and physical geography. In the book North America: The Historical Geography of a Changing Continent by Thomas F. McIlwraith, and Edward K. Muller, the writer describes North America as a continent that developed gradually over many years. However, the statement past and present are simplifies notions of our conceptions of time is inappropriate because developments and growth of the present precedes what happened in the past. Furthermore, North America is a haven of archeology, culture, parks, science museums, world s fairs, and golf courses. These properties have been elevated for many years by tranquil environment, clean water systems together with plants, and animals found in the

  • 11. How Does Mary Shelley Use Robots In Frankenstein Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley was an english novelist and poet, who is well known for works such as Frankenstein and Prometheus. Shelley grew up during the enlightenment period in england. This period was a period of question and advancement in technology/ science. Shelley was always skeptical of this new technology and in her novels such as Frankenstein she in directly warns people of the dangers of what this new technology could do. Frankenstein is a novel about a scientist named Victor Frankenstein. Victor brings to life a monster made from the body parts of dead humans. Throughout the entire book this monster torments and consumes Victor s life, killing everyone that he loves. Robotics is the branch of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and computer science that deals with the design, construction, operation, and application of robots, as well as computer systems for their control, sensory feedback, and information processing. (Chen) There are many types of robots, all of which have their pros and their cons. Robots are very similar to Victor s Monster in that each is made of different parts and each has the ability to think for itself. In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, Shelley warns people of the dangers of advanced technology through Victor Frankenstein s monster, which overtook Victor s life.If you give something the means to think and problem solve by itself, then you have to consider the fact that it might use that intelligence to do wrong. Like Victor s increasingly intelligent creation, the future of robotics has the potential to overtake and ruin the lives of many people while at the sametime changing it for the

  • 13. The Debate Over Race And Intelligence The debate over race and intelligence had been fueled in 1994 when Charles A. Murray and Richard Hernstein published a book called, The Bell Curve. The Bell Curve was an analysis on the curve between race and intelligence. Due to the book being published, scientists began working on multiple tests to try to understand the correlation that was indicated in this book. This is such an emotional topic to argue about because society could stereotype themselves based on a definitive answer about race and intelligence. A white child could earn a 90 on a test, above the score that of a black child has earned, but then an Asian child could outdo both of them. That is where the correlation can present itself. Due to that example, race and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His findings have concluded that environmental factors explains 58 percent of IQ variations around the world. If IQ tests were able to compare different backgrounds of different races, it would be more apparent. An American clinical psychologist Terrie Moffitt, said that negative environments (low social status or ineffective parenting) could affect a child s intelligence even more (Parker/Morton 1). There is a way to make a child smarter and that starts from an upbringing environment that is positive (Hurley). While bringing in the genetics of an individual based on their skin color, there are also different environmental factors that can contribute to the correlation between race and intelligence. The American Psychological Association studies have shown that environmental factors can contribute to an individual s intelligence factor. Different revolution factors, natural selection factors, and environmental differences have an impact (Saletan 4). For example, a black kid living in a run down neighborhood may do worse than a white kid living in a rich neighborhood. Due to this, most children feed off of their peers, either at school or even at home. People in disadvantaged groups generally score lower on IQ tests than those who are not disadvantaged (Jackson 1). Different races have different advantages due to
  • 14. Control Theory 6 The Complexity of Control Travis Hirschi 1935 University of Arizona Author of Social Bond Theory Hirschi s Two Theories and Beyond T ravis Hirschi has dominated control theory for four decades. His influence today is undiminished and likely will continue for years, if not decades, to come (see, e.g., Britt Gottfredson, 2003; Gottfredson, 2006; Kempf, 1993; Pratt Cullen, 2000). Beyond the sheer scholarly talent manifested in his writings, what accounts for Hirschi s enduring influence on criminological theory? Three interrelated considerations appear to nourish the appeal of his thinking. First, Hirschi s theories are stated parsimoniously. This means that his theory s core propositions are easily understood (e.g., the lack of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His goal was to start a theoretical fight; he succeeded (see also Kornhauser, 1978). Again, as a control theorist, he argued that these two perspectives asked the wrong theoretical question: Why are people motivated to commit crimes? For differential association theory, the answer was that youths are enveloped by a deviant culture that they learn in interaction with others. This positive learning that is, learning to value crime is what moves them to break the law. For strain theory, the blockage of goals creates a frustration that is the engine that drives individuals into crime. Hirschi, however, asserted that these theories were explaining something that did not require explanation motivation. If humans would by their natures seek the easy and immediate The Complexity of Control 111 gratifications inherent in crime, then they did not need to learn to want to commit crimes or be driven into crime by unbearable strains in order to break the law. In effect, such criminal cultural values and strains were redundant and thus did not explain who would be a delinquent and who would not be a delinquent. For Hirschi, of course, the proper theoretical question was: Why don t people break the law? The Fuel Of Diesel Cars Diesel Cars have never been able to take a proportional share of the Automotive market (in the US anyway). 2 Litre TDI Volkswagen Passenger Cars did the impossible for quite a while; until it came to light that they were cheating on emissions tests; likely killing diesel s future as a fuel. A year before Charles and Frank made their first car, Rudolf Diesel patented the design for diesel powered combustion engine. He believed that this would revolutionize the industry, because diesel fuel harbored a higher concentration of energy per gallon (132Г—106 vs 155Г—106 joules, gasoline and diesel respectively; in terms of energy density). The problem is that the exhaust is typically dirtier due to the much oilier nature of the fuel. Diesel however, has a potential to be just as clean as gasoline is, but the trade off is the added efficiency; Volkswagen Passenger cars cheated and lied about the former to pad the latter, effectively killing the fuel s future. VW AG was installing a Robert Bosch made defeat device, despite Bosch not condoning the way it was used. The software within had an advanced algorithm that would figure out when the TDI engine was being tested (is the car on a dyno i.e. not moving etc.). During testing times, the engine would optimize for clean emissions, at all other times 2 Litre TDI Volkswagen Passenger Cars were maximizing mileage to the detriment of the environment. Traditionally diesel cars are heavier and costlier than their petrol powered counterparts. Not

Changing Faces Within The Workforce Diverse Workforce Through recent years society as well as the labor force have taken notice in regards to the acceptability of having a diversified workforce. During the course of recent years it has been said that populace unwittingly hypothesized that by allowing diversity, our nation could suffer financial liability rather than an economic strength, a view point that was seen by some, but not by all. It becomes clear and concise that diversity isn t just the color of a person s skin; it also goes into gender, national origins, weight of a person, sexual orientation, and religion to name a few. As a leader, ensuring that all employees receive a fair and equitable evaluation may be a challenge for some; this has been recognized as a crucial part of the overall success of any establishment or corporation. Changing faces within the workforce Before anyone can truly understand the issues surrounding diversity within our workforce, it is safe to say that they have to understand the meaning. Workforce diversity is defined as diversity amongst employees that represents both a challenge and opportunity for business. Today, the U.S. workforce is as diverse as it has ever been, and it is becoming even more so (Lawrence Weber, 2014). Some of the diversity we are seeing are as followed, but not limited to: More women are working than ever before: Married women, those with young children and older women, in particular, have greatly increased their participation in

The author starts by giving the take away message at the beginning. People change what they do less because they are given analysis that shifts their thinking than because they shown a truth that influences their feelings , meaning people won t change just because you give them data stating they need change. They change because you make them see and feel the change. This brings you to Kotter s See, Feel, Change formula for implementing large scale change in an organization successfully. His formula constitutes of three things, the first is to help people see the problems in the organization. After seeing the problem, getting people to emotionally feel the need to change. This means reducing the emotions that block change and improve on the emotions that support change. The last step in the formula is to actually implement the change, with the help from the lessons we will soon review. These lessons consist of eight steps giving in the book, to ensure successful change is met and kept. The eight lessons are: increasing the sense of urgency for change, building the prefect team to guide the success of change, getting the vision of what you want to change right, communicating so that people start buying in to change, empower change so that more people act on it, create short term wins to build momentum, don t give up on

It conveys the significant purpose of Christianity by describing God s plan for the world and his final judgment of the people by reinforcing the importance of faith and the concept of Christianity as a whole. Accordingly, this book is the written record not of wild dreams but the dramatic God sent visions given to one of God s servants, John the Apostle. This book was written by John in 95 or 96 A.D. at the reign of the Roman Emperor, Domitian, and is the revelation of Jesus Christ illustrating the events that occur before and during the second coming of Christ. In Latin Revelatio means unveiling and in Greek apokalypsis means the removing of a veil. The purpose of this book is the revelation of Jesus Christ and the final judgment of the word of God. The coming of sin into the world, the establishment of the economy of redemption, has necessitated the making known of truths not made known by general revelation. Therefore, God has given the special revelation brought to us in the Holy Scriptures. The scriptures reiterate the truths proclaimed in nature, in history, and in man himself; and, in addition thereto, declare the salvation which God has provided for mankind in Jesus Christ (Campbell). In retrospect, revelation unveils God s future plan for the earth and is written to be understood. Clearly the book of Revelation is the ultimate battle between good and evil. It is the time when all sin will be judged, demons will be cast away, and Christ will reign over the earth. This is the word of God showing us his plan for the retribution of his son Jesus Christ. By sending these words to John in a vision God is warning the people of the world to repent for their sins and that the time is drawing near. There are three options for them to choose from: gold, silver, and lead. All three chests are inscribed with short phrases on the outside that hint to their contents. These chests are symbolic of several human natures and beliefs that become clear when the contents of the chest are revealed. The first chest is sparkling gold and brilliantly decorated. Inscribed on the outside is, who chooseth me shall gain what many men desire. When chosen and opened, all that s inside is a skull holding a taunting message of failure. The message inside reads all that glitters is not gold. The gold casket represents greed, showing that those who chose the gold because of their own desire are shallow and selfish. They didn t consider what was inside, only their own wishes, and this caused those suitors to lose the lottery. This is symbolic of the idea that a desirable outside doesn t mean the inside is as great. However her struggle to develop her craft and to endure the mental pressures had now resulted in producing a positive force that is a renewed interest in religion. Many poems of this volume were not included in the Collected Poems. The reason could be that there was much controversy about whether these poems were confessional or not. Elizabeth Jennings does not think so and does not want to be thought of in relation to Anne Sexton s poetry. (Interview). The most important reason she states is that most of the poems in the book are about other people and not about herself. This is true but she also writes about suicide, suffering and madness. At least some of the experiences she made during her mental breakdown seem to be reflected in a few poems of this volume. This collection of poems won the Richard Hillary Award in 1966. • 42. The International Court Of Justice INTRODUCTION: International court of justice is a principal judicial organ of United Nations organization and is also known as world court which was established in 1945 by UN charter and began work in 1946. ICJ is successor of permanent court of international justice which was dissolved after the 2nd world war. ICJ is located in The Hague, Netherlands. In judicial settlement, ICJ occupies a prominent position and decides legal issues of general importance. ICJ comprises of fifteen judges who are elected for nine years by the general assembly and the security council, regardless of their nationality. JURISDICTION OF ICJ : According to Article 93 of the UN charter, all members of UN can automatically be the parties to the court. For non members states, article 93 also provides the right to the parties of the court if they wish to and willing to be bound by the jurisdiction of court. For example, Switzerland used this method to become the party of the court in 1948. The court has jurisdiction over the states when the states accept the jurisdiction of the court. So the court doesn t have compulsory jurisdiction over the states, since there cannot be a central political authority over the sovereign states. Therefore, no international tribunal can exercise jurisdiction over the sovereign states without their consent. The jurisdiction of ICJ is based upon the consent of the parties. On one such occurrence Genji is pursuing a woman named YЕ«gao, who is of lower grade (Tyler, 62). He visits her only at night in secret, and doesn t call on her until everyone in the house is asleep (Tyler 63). The values, makoto and aware, are also deeply ingrained into The Tale of Genji and are a recurring theme within the work. The men are always searching for women with sincere characteristics, and the women are always chasing after Genji, who is a paragon of sincerity. The value of aware is quite Buddhist in nature and describes the impermanence of all things. This is definitely the most significant religious influence on The Tale of Genji because aware is the abounding theme throughout the tale. Genji is constantly witnessing the impermanence of life. One such example is when he loses his wife, Aoi, to childbirth. She is very sick and fragile after the birth of their son, and Genji is deeply moved by her fragility, The sight of her lying there, so beautiful yet so thin and weak that she hardly seemed among the living, aroused his love and his keenest sympathy (Tyler, 179). After Aoi s death, Genji takes it hard and life was intolerable to him (Tyler, 180). The feeling of aware is embodied in Genji s reaction to Aoi s sickness and death; moreover, the fragility of life is made clear to him

This was done in order to identify each of the two compounds that the mixture consisted of. The unknown tested in this experiment was Unknown 58. The initial amount of 15.99 g of liquid was used. The weight of the liquid was converted into volume once the two compounds were identified. The volume of the initial liquid was found to be 18.44 mL. Since the original mixture contained the two compound by a 1:1 ratio, each compound had a starting amount of 9.22 mL. This was used to calculate the percent recoveries for both compounds. In the recovery of the compounds, three fractions were taken. The pure compounds were present in the first and third fraction... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The boiling points recorded for both compounds were slightly off due to an error while performing the lab. The thermometer was set too low to the vigrex column, resulting in lower boiling points. This can be fixed by raising the thermometer in the stillhead to height of where the glassware splits. Even with this discrepancy, the identity of both compounds was still confirmed. For fraction A, the IR RM 03 IRA was obtained. This spectrum contains a peak at 2877 cm 1 and a peak at 1106 cm 1. The second peak shows that the compound contains an ether. The presence of this functional group and the lack of a carbonyl group and hydroxyl group eliminated 9 of the 13 possible unknowns. The NMR spectra eliminated the other three possibilities. The NMR spectra obtained for fraction A are RM 03 NMRA1 and RM 03 NMRA2. The 1H NMR, RM 03 NMRA1, showed only 2 types of protons present, one represented at 3.47 ppm and the other at 3.32 ppm. It also showed that there was acetone in the NMR tube by the presence of the peak at 2.09 ppm. There were only two compounds left that had two types of protons, 1,2 dimethoxtethane and

They use self reports that are coded themselves or that the research will have the participants code, tons of different questionnaires that take time for the participants to do, and it is really not relevant for the new generations. With the studies that have been done, almost half of all first marriage still end in divorce. It looks like the system that we use to study and try to help curb this just isn t working, because of the measures that are used it just speak to the generation anymore. This study will also be looking at specifically communication in a stressful situation, which the studies have not covered before. This is important because every couple as arguments and by studying this hopefully it will curb the amount of arguments in the relationship and help lower the first marriage divorce rates. There was a study done just recently that looked at whether communication predicted satisfaction or satisfaction predicted communication? The study didn t really find whether one predicted the other.(Lavner, et al, 2016, p. 1 15)
