12. 1. Evaporation/heating - You can apply this to the mixture of salt
and water. We heat water and then it evaporates
leaving the salt substance.
2. Filtration – separating substances by filtering out undissolved
materials from the mixture
3. Sieving – a way which uses a sieve. A sieve is a wooden or metal
frame covered with wire screen through which loose material is
refined or a material containing liquid is strained.
Example: small rocks and sand
4. Sifting – separating and retaining coarse part like powdery substance
with a sieve.
Example: flour
5. Straining – to draw off or remove by filtration by filtering agent such
as a strainer.
6. Winnowing – separating the chaff from rice grains by wind.
