Calyx Corolla Report
Problem Statement
Calyx Corolla, as a company, has enjoyed considerable success since its humble beginnings in
1988. As we move forward, our goal is to solidify our presence in the flower market by evolving
our current business model. By examining our current marketing techniques and market
environment, our aim is to develop a new and successful business approach which will ensure long
term financial growth and stability. Our foundation on the creativity of Ruth Owades has set us
apart from traditional retailers, and our greatest asset has been our ability to be there for our clients
for the simple and meaningful moments in their lives. Our long term prosperity will entail engaging
in a new and different marketing campaign, which will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The FTD business model is based on receiving orders at an originating florist, and transmitting
the order to a florist local to the delivery address. There are several key differences between FTD
and Calyx Corolla. FTD retains about 7% of the final sale price, with the majority going to the
receiving and delivering florists. By comparison, Calyx Corolla retains 80% of the price of the
flowers, with 20% going directly to the grower. However, the principle difference between Calyx
Corolla is that while FTD retains over 20,000 florists within the United States, Calyx Corolla is
not directly affiliated with florists, but has strong ties to the fresh flower growers themselves.
Calyx Corolla have decided to go the other way from the traditional model of selling fresh flowers,
somewhat side stepping direct competition with major retail players.
Traditional retail stores cannot strictly be classified as competitors, because of their different
operating methods. While retailers rely on consumers setting foot into their stores, Calyx Corolla
reaches out to its target market by way of catalogs, telemarketing, and in some cases, promotional
tie ins with selected retail stores. Even the approach of FTD follows more closely the traditional
retail model than that of Calyx Corolla. It is precisely for this reason that Ruth Owades saw an
opportunity to delve into an unexplored market. However, while Calyx Corolla enjoy a much
higher operating gross per sale,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Biometrics
One major disadvantage of usual authentication techniques, they can t confirm that the demand
identification of user is from the legal owner [11]. Therefore, there was a need for a kind of
technique that can t be forgotten or lost and can identify users based on their unique characteristic
[37]. Biometric is an automated method for easily verifying and recognizing the identity of a living
person based on his physiological or behavioral. Biometricsare excellent candidates for providing an
extra level of security, especially when used in conjunction with traditional methods for
authentication [10].
Generally, most biometric based authentication systems consist of two phases, Enrolment Phase and
Verification Phase Figure 5. In the Enrolment/ Training Phase, users deal with different kind of
sensors depends on the kind of biometric used for authentication system. Those biometric sensors
scan and capture the repeated user s basic login data till finishing the system number of training
sessions for specific number of time to train the system. After that the feature extractor extracts the
features from the scanned biometric data using an algorithm. The feature vector used for
generating a template for each user of the system. This template is encrypted using the public key
obtained from cloud server then send back to cloud server to be stored in the template database for
later use.
In the verification/ Testing phase, the biometric sensor, the feature extractor and generator

The Numerous Themes in Othello Essay
The Numerous Themes in Othello
The Shakespearean tragedy Othello contains a number of themes; their relative importance and
priority is debated by literary critics. In this essay let us examine the various themes and determine
which are dominant and which subordinate.
A. C. Bradley, in his book of literary criticism, Shakespearean Tragedy, describes the theme of
sexual jealousy in Othello:
But jealousy, and especially sexual jealousy, brings with it a sense of shame and humiliation. For
this reason it is generally hidden; if we perceive it we ourselves are ashamed and turn our eyes
away; and when it is not hidden it commonly stirs contempt as well as pity. Nor is this all. Such
jealousy as Othello s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has been pointed out that he has no intelligible plan for destroying Othello, and he never asks
himself what good it will do him to ruin so many people. It is enough for him that he hates the
Moor. . . .(133)
Act 1 Scene 1 opens with an expression of jealousy and hatred: Roderigo is upbraiding Iago
because of the elopement of the object of his affections Desdemona with the Moor: Thou told st
me thou didst hold him in thy hate. Iago responds with an expression of hatred, saying that he
does indeed hate the general because he Nonsuits my mediators; for, Certes, says he, / I have
already chose my officer. Lily B. Campbell in Shakespeare s Tragic Heroes indicates the palpable
hatred:
It is then on a theme of hate that the play opens. It is a hate of inveterate anger. It is a hate that is
bound up with envy. Othello has preferred to be his lieutenant a military theorist, one Michael
Cassio, over the experienced soldier Iago, to whom has fallen instead the post of his Moorship s
ancient . Roderigo questions Iago:
Thou told st me thou didst hold him in thy hate.
And the reply is a torrent of proof of the hatred for Othello that has almost exceeded the envy of
Cassio because he possesses the prize which Iago has sought to obtain for himself. (153)

in a vain effort to have him

Kim Kardashian Analysis
From the start, people have said , you know we have the right to edit and to approve all footage,
said Kim Kardashian about Keeping up with the Kardashians , a show that started in October in
the year of 2007. Based on this quote from Kim Kardashian, I think that the show is not real. In
addition to this opinion, I think this show is bad because it only shows what the family wants
people to see and not the real version of them. Keeping up with the Kardashians is negatively
affecting teens around the U.S by showing girls that they need to fix themselves to seem beautiful
to others. Due to the fact that people, especially girls, watch this particular program, influences girls
on how to act and how to make them feel beautiful. As you

Lear feels pain of death when he sees his joy Cordelia has died. Lear could not bear this inevitable
pain and ceases breathing.
As a matter of fact Lear is not completely sinless but Lear s claim that I am a man more sinned
against than sinning (Act 3.2, p. 79) is convincing on the grounds that his evil daughters more
sinned him than he wronged with Cordelia and Kent and even his malicious daughters endeavour to
murder him. In this manner, King Lear suffers excessive punishment even though meets his death
toward the end of the play.
This project is following the method of qualitative research and it would be based on 3 chapters.
Foolishness of Lear: In the first chapter of the project I will discuss the love test and will
additionally analyze the character of Lear relating to his poor fatherhood.
Suffering of Lear: This chapter emphasizes on the pitiless treatment which Lear receives from his
ungrateful daughters after distributing territory furthermore explores Lear s sufferings in the wild
storm.

Elastigirl Research Paper
Elastigirl is a very well known superhero in the movie, The Incredibles. She has the flexibility
superpower, and she can stretch any part of her body up to 100 (30 m) and to a minimum
thickness of 1 mm, and mold it into several shapes and sizes as well. Elastigirl also has the
superpower of invulnerability, meaning she can withstand large amounts of pain and discomfort. It
is mind boggling to think about how Elastigirl has these superpowers that she possesses. The only
answer to this is biology. Elastigirl has an evolved extraordinary body system, giving her the ability
to do these extraordinary things. Flexibility is the ability to stretch a joint to the limit of its range of
movement. Unlike Elastigirl, humans have internal limitations... Show more content on

For example, some joints in humans simply are not meant to be flexible, there is internal resistance
within a joint, there are bony structures which limit movement, the elasticity of muscle tissue
differs and muscle tissue that is scarred due to a previous injury is not very elastic. Also, the
elasticity of tendons and ligaments is very limited. Ligaments do not stretch much and tendons
should not stretch at all. The elasticity of skin actually has some degree of elasticity, but not much.
Also, the temperature of the joint and associated tissues are musically more flexible at body
temperatures that are 1 to 2 degrees higher than normal. Unlike normal humans, Elastigirl has an
evolved extraordinary body system. There are many biological difficulties that Elastigirl would
encounter if she did not have this body system, which would hindering her flexibility. As previously
stated, she would encounter many issues involving her joints, bony structures, muscle elasticity,
tendons, ligaments, and skin that would limit her range of motion and flexibility. There are a few
biological findings that can explain how Elastigirl has these abilities. For example, Elastigirl s skin
is very stretchy. Collagen is a form

The Culture Of Geek Culture
Globalization has intertwined us up to the point where the whole world has become one entity.
Consequently, different cultures have been integrated to what we today known as popular culture.
The Internet has converted everything instantly viral like movies, series, book sagas, comics,
anime and video games. There is no place on social media where you cannot feel identified with
someone with an affinity of your resemblance. Today, being a geekis not an oddity, to the contrary,
being a geek has become part of pop cultureup to the point where it has turned into a part of our
identity. As the evolution of technology has connected identities from all around the world, geek
culture has created a network of individuals with mutual values in spite of their race, ethnicity and
cultural traditions.
Before the internet became the network that we know today, geek was a term that our society
looked down upon. Geek used to be related to people who had knowledge about technology, in
other words those who were classified as nerds . These kind of classifications were seen as a bad
characteristic. Being a geek made you an outcast, geeks and nerds couldn t even think of being
accepted into the popular groups due to their weird personalities and preferences. Nevertheless, as
technology evolved and the creation of the Internet interconnected our world, the word geek has
been deconstructed up to the point where its past meaning makes no relevance to today s
definition. Geek, as today s

The Watergate Scandal Of Nixon
The Watergate Scandal
Abstract
On November 5, 1968 Richard M. Nixon was elected the 37th president of the United States. In
1972 Nixon was reelected in a landslide victory. However, His undoing was already in the works.
A few months prior to Nixon s reelection a group of men linked to the Nixon administration were
arrested in the Democratic party headquarters in Washington s Watergate complex and what
followed was one of the biggest scandals in presidential history. The Watergate scandalwas revealed
as a cover up by the Nixon administration to hide involvement in illegal activities against their
opponents and ultimately lead to Nixon s resignation from his presidency on August 9, 1974.
Nixon was granted a full pardon from the Ford administration a month later. A few years later
Nixon was paid $600,000 by British TV personality David Frost for a string of in depth television
interviews. The last decades of Nixon s life were spent rebuilding his reputation. He will always be
remembered as the face of the embarrassing Watergate scandal. Due to these events no president
will ever be trusted.

because of the Bolsheviks policies. A chaos starts to begin a lot of people weren t happy. The

One of the Bolshevik enemies was the social revolutionary (Johndclare). They became an enemy to

the Bolsheviks and the social revolutionary, both entered that election (Johndclare). The Bolsheviks

Lenin used the Red guards to close the assembly and they killed anyone who resists (Johndclare).
The social revolutionary fought back by attacking the Bolshevik part and because of that the social

Good And Evil Characters In The Disney Film Mulan
For my fairy tale I chose the Disney film Mulan. I chose Mulan because it is an entertaining
movie that delivers a good moral lesson. Mulan has your classic characters, the hero, the evil
villain, but Mulan also pays homage and respect to the sacred spirits of her people. In this paper I
will discuss Mulan s story of courage, prayer, and determination. I will cover some important
symbolism, imagery, and messages found within the film. I will also identify good and evil
characters in the film and their respective roles in the movie.
Mulan
The story of Mulan was inspired by an ancient Chinese ballad from the Song Dynasty, called the
Ballad of Mulan (ancientstandard.com). In the movie Mulan s homeland is being attacked by
The Huns. Everyone is here village is afraid and begins to gearing up for an imminent war. Every
family is required to provide a member from their respective families to help defend themselves
against the invading Huns. Mulan s father is the only male in her family and decides he must
fight and defend his village against their approaching enemy. The problem is he is old and has
previous war wounds that makes his chances of surviving such a war is unlikely. Recently rejected
by her matchmaker and potential husband Mulan decides to disguise herself as a male and
represent her family in her father s place. This decision leads Mulan on an uncertain and dangerous
journey that teaches her and the movie viewers many valuable lessons.
The Sacred
Before Mulan heads to war she prays to her deceased ancestors for protection on her journey. The
term used for praying to ancestors is called ancestor veneration (religionfacts.com). Prayers to
ancestors is based on the belief that family members who have died have an interest in present life.
These ancestors possess the ability to influence what happens in the lives of their family members
still on earth. Mulan and her family seek the guidance from their ancestors throughout the movie.
Mulan s ancestors grant her protection and a small dragon named Mushu who they communicate
with in regards to Mulan s best interest. Mulan reverenced the spirits of her ancestors in the same
way people reverence God, Allah, and other god like entities.

Amr Alhemiary
Abstract
This research aims at emphasizing the use of literature as a popular technique for teaching both
basic language skills (i.e. reading, writing, speaking and listening)and language areas(i.e.
vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation) in our times. Reasons for using literary text in a foreign
language classroom, suitable situations for teaching literature and main criteria for selecting
suitable literary texts in foreign language classes are stressed so as to be familiar with the
underlying reasons, situations and criteria for language teachers using and selecting a literary text.

Such texts help students develop strategies and create conditions for successful learning of all
language skills. Not only that, they can facilitate in perceptive students the acquisition of sense
making procedures and sensitize them to all kinds of lexical, structural, formal, stylistic, symbolic,
pragmatic, semiotic and conventional aspects which are in a dynamic interplay to form a literary
text. This will naturally lead them to learn how a text is formed. Also as a metalinguistic discourse,
a literary text illustrates textual skills like cohesion, coherence, reference, inference and provides
examples of deixis, implicature, presupppositon and speech acts.
Collie and Slater (1987: 3 6) support the inclusion of literature in the language classroom as it
provides valuable authentic material, develops personal involvement and help contribute to readers
cultural as well as language enrichment. These advantages, they move on to assert, can be achieved
provided teachers use relevant and appealing material to learners through the use of activities that
promote involvement, reader response and a solid integration between language and literature.
Practitioners, that is, teachers indicate that they use Literature in their English teaching practices

Rap Music Rap music has never been seen as a positive artistry by the media, but maybe the
media is just doing what it always does and portrays everything with a poor opinion and rap
music really doesn t influence someone s behavior as much as the media would like you to think.
Socially everyone thinks that kids that listen to rap music are more prone to violence and abuse
towards women and that is how it has been looked at in our culture, when really it s not the actually
listening of the music than it is the rap videos themselves that portray the misogynistic views and

Since culture is our shared reality, created and sustained through common experience, American
experience is now largely that which is shaped and maintained by the mass media... Violent
music lyrics have been shown to increase aggressive thoughts and feelings.... This creation of
culture through popular media was sadly exemplified recently when radio personality Don Imus
referred to a college women s basketball team as nappy headed ho s. Sadder still, many
responded that the racist and sexist language was acceptable because that type of language is
used by minorities in rap music. Unfortunately racist and sexist slurs influence real people, for
example sending the message to girls that this is how our society views them and causing issues
with self esteem and identity. (Karen Dill, 2013) As she said above the radio host described
college basketball girls nappy headed ho s which would get any radio host now fired immediately
without a second thought. Later on in her article she explains how people believe that the media
does not affect them, when in saying that it still does. Karen list s five reasons why people
misperceive that the media affects them: Person s natural tendency to reject the notion that our
habits are harmful, a mistaken view of how media effects work, that media are produced primarily
to entertain us, that media do not affect the viewer. She ends the writing with wise saying. Our

Japanese Female Divers Essay
On the other hand, the history of Japanese female divers stretches back far longer than that of the
Koreans. The practice originated at least two thousand years ago, and may have a connection to
the migration of Japanese. As fishermen were moving along the southwest islands of Japan and
towards the main island, women were reported to have collected shellfish and seaweed. Such
catches would provide much needed salt in the diet and some items such as abalone or turbo
play a part in religious ceremonies, and also could be traded for other products. Jewelry could
also be made out of the pearls and abalone shells they collected. The Japanese have a wide variety
of diving practices and even wear different types of clothing depending on the region; such
diversity is evidence of free diving as a long standing tradition with older origins.... Show more

Underwater googles also vary by region, but all ama do carry a kaigane. The kaigane is a metal
scoop or pallet...used to remove the abalone or other shells from the rocks, and serves as a
counterweight during descent (Rahn 29). Like the Koreans, free diving did not start out as a
female dominated profession. It is significant to note that the male characters for ama, (diver in
Japanese) have the connotation of sea warrior or more appropriately, samurai of the sea. But the
female characters for ama simply mean sea woman, and the term itself is now assumed to refer to
females. The difference in meaning is most likely due to the fact that men would use their hands or
spears to grab fish, while the women collected shellfish and

Study Of All Aspects Of Life And Living Things
Biology provides students with the opportunity to examine the study of all aspects of life and living
things (Audesirk, et al. 905). In the classroom that the group volunteered to clean up, the educator
teaches environmental science. By organizing papers, filing assignments, and cleaning desks the
group helped the educator to effectively teach her students to care for the environment, which saves
living organisms. By the classroom being organized and clean, the teacher will be able to have
better time managementskills, which will allow her to spend more time teaching her students about
environmental science rather than wasting time searching for assignments. The teacher gives her
students a broader understanding of the impact human development and influences have made on
the environment, which relates to Biology in the way that knowledge about living organisms can
help preserve their habitats. In addition to organizing papers so that the teacher can effectively
manage lecture time, our group also filed assignments. We filed papers based on the corresponding
chapters and types of assignments that were relevant to the state standards. Filing assignments
based on different characteristics reflects the natural order of different classifications. In Biology,
classifications go from the biosphere, which is inclusive of all living and nonliving organisms, to
the species level, which is specific to each organism.( Audesirk et al. ) Similarly, the assignments the

The Hobbit Compare And Contrast Bilbo And The Dwarves
Saruman believes it is only great power that can hold evil in check, but that is not what I have
found. I found it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay.
Gandalf claims in the quote above from The Hobbit that great power isn t always necessary to
accomplish great feats. If ordinary people can work as a team, the outcome can defeat an
individual with great power. Bilbo and the dwarves assisted each other, and got help from other
sources in order to accomplish their goal and grow as characters. This teamwork and growth is
shown throughout the scenes of Rivendell, Mirkwood, and with Smaug.

Without the joint effort between Thorin and Bilbo, the group wouldn t have made it into the

Analysis Of The Book Julius Caesar With My Class
Recently I have gotten the chance to read the book play, Julius Caesar with my
class. Although it s hard to understand at times, and it s long and boring. I ve learned a
lot from the play already. Throughout this paper, I m going teach you and explain to you
one of the things I learned. This one thing I learned is going to be the main point of my
paper, with extras around it, that one thing is What is a roman tribune? and Why are
Marullus and Flavius, worried about Caesar? This play is full of twist and turns, by the
end of this paper, you will have an answer to both the questions.
In this play there are several different types of Roman Tribunes, some that hold
higher powers than others. One of the highest tribunes is Brutus, then there s
Cassius, and several more. I named these two mainly because they play a huge part in
this play. They are one of few that actually hold some type of power in the play, and their
close to one of the highest powers there is. This higher power you might ask? Goes by
the name of Julius Caesar.
Since Pompey died, the head person in charge, the king. Since he died, Caesar has
attempted to take his place. Although Caesar is the new highest power, he isn t as high a

The I-Other Duality
Zygmunt Bauman best describes the self/other duality where identities are set up in dichotomies in
this quote:
Woman is the other of man, animal is the other of human, stranger is the other of native,
abnormality the other of norm, deviation the other of law abiding, illness the other of health,
insanity the other of reason, lay public the other of the expert, foreigner the other of state subject,
enemy the other of friend.
The question of the Other the one different from yourself and those similar to yourself is ideal for
exploration within science fiction, which has always stretched the boundaries of what is possible
and imaginable. The Other can be different from the Self in its sex, income, language, race,
anatomy, etc., and Le Guin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Gethenians, being unique in the Hainish universe should by all accounts be the ultimate Other,

The Truth about Marie Antoinette
Marie Antoinette was born on November 2, 1755, in Vienna, Austria. Marie Antoinette was a
queen that ruled with a powerful, wealthy, fist. She was a foreign wife and queen once she married
King Louis XVI of France. Throughout her rule over France, Marie Antoinette was kept under a
light of ignorance by the people, and therefore, should not be blamed for their suffering, the French
Revolution, and the failures of her husband. She was hated by the people of France the moment
she became queen, which ultimately led her to her downfall. Queen Marie Antoinette is known
for her infamous quote let them eat cake , in a scandal where she supposedly turned a blind eye
to the famished. The people of France pointed their fingers at Marie Antoinette, and believed she
frankly participated in the scandal they accused her of: the scandal that led to her death by
guillotine: the Affair of the Diamond Necklace. Marie Antoinette was also blamed for The French
Revolution and the suffering of the poor people, but the citizens of France were already poor long
before she became queen. The French Revolution was a time of political and social disruption, and
the change of their absolute monarchy. Marie Antoinette was part of the monarchy, so she was
disliked, but she was not the cause of The French Revolution. Her husband, King Louis XVI, made

In 2007, the ministry of Women and Child development released a study report on on child abuse.
The report discusses incidence of child abuse nationwide. It is estimated that 150 million girls
and 73 million boys under 18 have been subjected to forced sexual intercourse or other forms of
sexual violence .[4] In 2013, India s Hell Holes: Child Sexual Assault in Juvenile Justice Homes,
the Asian Centre for Human Rights said that sexual offences against children in India have reached
epidemic proportion. [5] The report stated that more than 48,000 child rape cases were recorded

cases) to 2011 (7,112 cases).[6]

Fishing Is Fishing
Fishing had never been a hobby until I considered until this past summer. Fishing has an
importance that goes way back since my great grandpa back in Mexico. My great grandpa used
to take my father fishing to a nearby lake near their home where they would spend hours fishing
for that night s dinner. As a kid, I remember my family would take trips to the lake or rivers to
have a family gathering and a carne asada. This is where my uncles and grandpa would fish, but at
the time playing soccer with my cousins was more exciting. When I turned 13, my grandpa invited
me to go fishingto Lake Buena Vistathat Saturday morning. I immediately thought tedious but
decided to open up and try a new activity and at the end of the day, I would have a story to tell my
friends. Once at the lake, I asked my grandpa, What is so cool about fishing and he responded, It
s not about catching fish, it is about relaxing and being away from everything and enjoying
nature. Anyone can go to the market to buy a fish, but can they have the patience to battle one
and reel it in? . As the day progressed we caught a couple of catfish which my grandpa took home
and made soup with. Although that day I enjoyed myself I also found out fishing was not my
hobby. Fishing is for those who have patience and don t dread being in the sun all day. Flash
forwarding to this past summer, my friend Froilan wanted to go fishing after he saw some
YouTube videos about fishing. After he told me we should go fishing to do

The Cinematic Interpretations of The Lord of the Flies by William Golding
The two cinematic versions of William Golding s Lord of the Flies are very different. They still
both deal dramatically with the basic theme, of a group of boys who have come from a strict
and ordered background to becoming like savages, hunting, and killing like blood thirsty animals.
The book deals with issues which relate to the Cold War between the United States of America
and Russia which is better reflected in the Brook version rather than the Harry Hook version. I
generally think this is because at the time when the Brook version was made, the world was under
nuclear threat which made it easier for people to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most basic and apparent themes is that society holds everyone together, and without
these conditions, our ideals, values and the basics of right and wrong are lost. Without humanity s
rigid rules, anarchy and savagery can come to light. Brook and Hook are also showing as the book
does that morals come directly from our surroundings, and if there is no civilisation around us, we
will then lose these values.
I personally as a young viewer see that Hook s version is more exciting to an audience because it
can be viewed with more technical advances to the film. Also in the Hook version it is easy to see
another theme which is not made that obvious in the Brook version. The fear of the unknown (in
this case the beast is unknown and is put into the boy s heads by their imaginations) can be a
powerful force, which can turn people to either insight or hysteria. The boys end up killing Simon
because the happenings which have occurred have lead them to believe that there is a beast on the
island with them, when in fact it is just the pilot. However the black and white version does have
some advantages which the colour version does not have. These include benefits such as the story,
which is virtually the same as the book so you get the same idea that the book gives you. An
additional advantage of the Brook cinematic

Selfishness In Spider-Man

Malicious Prosecution
Discussion I. Can our client satisfy the first requirement for a malicious prosecution suit that
requires that the termination of the earlier suit be in the plaintiff s favor when in our client s case
their termination was due to a voluntary dismissal by the initial plaintiff who changed her mind
about her claim?
To meet the first element favorable termination a plaintiffcannot rely on a settlement of the case that
both parties agree to. Once the litigation ends by settlement there is no favorable termination for the
purpose of pursuing a malicious prosecution. A favorable termination is satisfied by abandonment
or dismissal and without any final determination merits. However there are preceding cases that

The judgment entered by the trial court on the motion to dismiss was reversed because a
termination must be in favor of the person against whom civil proceedings are brought.
To have an action for malicious prosecution, our client must prove that a favorable termination has
taken place. In the Colli case it establishes that a voluntary dismissal without prejudice of a will
contest is a favorable termination. In the Frey case it is stated that when a termination or dismissal
indicates in some fashion that the accused is innocent of wrongdoing it is a favorable termination.
Also a termination without a trial on the merits may be a favorable termination of litigation if the
circumstances indicate the innocence or freedom from liability of the defendant. In a case where
there is no adjunction on the merits the existence of favorable termination of the prior proceeding,
you must look at the facts to determine what actually occurred and whom the termination
benefitted. II. Can our client show a special injury from another earlier suit against him, as
required to have an action for malicious prosecution, when his charter boat was seized pending the
suit as allowed by state, and when his professional reputation was damaged because of the suit?
To meet the fourth element special injury a plaintiff must show a special injury from the previous
malicious suit. A special injury can be met by

The Necklace Character Analysis
What would you do if you were in Loisel s shoes the night of the ball? Loisel in The Necklace
has three distinct traits; greed, selfishness, and insecurity. Loisel, is an interesting character with
many traits. The first trait that stands out was greediness in Loisel. She is married to a rich man
that works in the Department of Education. One night after work the husband came home with
an invitation to a ball. Despite his pride when he came with the invitation, she opened it and
threw the invitation on the table with annoyance, saying What do you want me to do with that?
She was aggravated with the fact she can t go because she did not have anything to wear and
didn t want to look poor in front of all the rich women. After discussing the invitation, she asked
her husband What do you want me to put on my back to go there? He says But the dress in
which you go to the theater. That looks very well to me. He stops resisting when she began
crying about not having anything to wear. As she cries, he asks how much would this cost, a
proper dress, which would do on other occasions; something very simple? , consequently giving
in to her greediness to buy her a new dress. After providing her with a nice dress she became
even greedier, desiring a new necklace. Her husband replied, You will wear some natural flowers.
They are very stylish this time of the year. For ten francs you will have two or three magnificent
roses. Her husband tries to give her as much as he can but

Jesse Vs Agnus
Growing old is inevitable, it is something that everyone goes through, well unless you are the
Tuck s. The Tuck s some how lucked up and gained every lasting life, is it luck or is it a curse?
That depends on which Tuck you ask. There is no pain from growing old and no dying. Agnus,
Mae, Miles, and Jesse all have accepted their eternal life differently but, the two that differ the
most are Agnus and Jesse. Agnus has a difficult time dealing with the fact that he will never die,
whereas Jesse has embraced his longevity of life. You can t have living without dying. So you
can t call it living, what we got. We just are, we just be, like rocks beside the road. (Babbit, p. 64).
Growth is a major part of life and the Tuck s don t get to experience that anymore so Agnus feel s
stuck. He wants to experience getting old and dying because it is the cycle of life. He has
watched people he knew die and how much things have changed around him and he is envious of
the ones that get to have that. According to Zastrow, most elder adults reflect on their livesand
conclude what was meaningful about it and with that try to accept that their years left are limited
(p 647). It seems that Agnus has already participated in this idea of life review many times but,...

Psychological and Sociological Factors in Smoking Addiction
Psychological and Sociological Factors in Smoking Addiction
Understanding the habit of smoking tobacco
The essay will discuss how smoking tobacco became a habit among people; what are the factors that
affect the thinking of individuals in experimenting tobacco smoking; and what makes them think of
quitting smoking. It will address both psychological and sociological ideas and will attempt to
apply each idea in order to understand people s lifestyles.
Introduction
Tobacco is a green and leafy plant and mostly grows in a warm environment. When it is fully

According to the Department of Health (2003), Cancer Research UK (2010) and the Office of
National Statistics (2004), despite of the drop of statistics of smokers, there are still individuals
who would try smoking especially the young people between the ages of eleven to sixteen. In the
report of the three offices they listed the main reasons why young people smoke and these are
experimentation, to look mature or part of their image, there are older people smokes around
them, especially their parents, and peer pressures (DH, 2003) (ONS, 2004) (CR UK, 2010).
This experimentation can be attributed through social learning theory, where psychologists and
theorists Julian Rotter and Albert Bandura describe it as how we learn from others. Watching
others can provide information on which kind of behaviour leads to what consequences (Adams
and Bromley, 1998). Parents have strong influence among us. If we are surrounded by our
family who smokes, there is a strong possibility that we will imitate them. We also looked at
other people such as our peers, actors and singers. Seeing these people smoking can also lead us
to emulate them and try smoking. Once we learn to smoke, we keep smoking until it will be hard
for us to stop.
Another motive in experimentation among the young people came from advertising. One example
from one Tobacco Company which says I am no longer my mother s

Reasons For The Hostages Were Journalists And Aid Workers
ISIL continued to demand ransom payments and other concessions from foreign governments in
exchange for the return of hostages, and it executed the hostages if the governments refused.
Most of the hostages were journalists and aid workers, but in late December 2014 the group
captured a Jordanian pilot after his fighter jet crashed during a mission against ISIL in Syria.
News of the pilot s capture met with consternation in Jordan, where a large proportion of the
public had opposed the country s participation in the anti ISIL coalition. Support for military
action surged in February 2015, however, after an ISIL video showed the pilot being burned to

To help mitigate the manpower losses, IS has turned to conscription in some areas. Iraqi expert
Hisham al Hashimi believes only 30% of the group s fighters are ideologues , with the remainder
joining out of fear or coercion. A significant number of IS fighters are neither Iraqi nor Syrian. In
October 2015, National Counterterrorism Center Director Nicholas Rasmussen told Congress
that the group had attracted more than 28,000 foreign fighters. They included at least 5,000
Westerners, approximately 250 of them Americans, he said. Studies by the London based
International Centre for the Study of Radicalization and Political Violence (ICSR) and the New

West, the majority are from nearby Arab countries, such as Tunisia, Saudi Arabia and Jordan
and Morocco ( What Is Islamic State ? ). By late 2014, cells of militants claiming to be affiliates

Moral Courage In Roger Rosenblatt s The Man In The Water
People have moral courage whether they realized it or not. It is in our everyday lives and we
used it. Moral courage could be something small or big in different cases. The Man in the Water
is a Formal essay written by Roger Rosenblatt. It is about a plane crash in Washington D.C. and
an unknown man risked his life to save others. In The Man in the Water , Roger Rosenblatt:
moral courage is developed through the use of symbolism and conflict. Moral Courage is
developed through conflict which the main character goes against the opposing force. When the
plane crashed in the water, there were only a few survivors. Several people were surrounding the
plane crash site with news reporters and the police. The rescue helicopter came and tried to save
other people in the plane. When the helicopter came, the unknown man went around trying to
save the survivors. He came back in forth rescuing one people at a time knowing that he risked
his life. Every time they lowered a lifeline and flotation ring to him, he passed it on to another of
passengers (Rosenblatt). The man in the water fought against nature to save the people and he
put his fear a side. His enemy was nature and nature tried to took the survivor s lives away. He
put nature into a hold for a long moment to save other people. Near the end, he saved all of the
people except himself. He purposely sacrifice himself which he knew from the start. He knew that

others help manage mental disorder/illness like depression or bipolar disorders. Throughout
chronicle of events regarding counseling, many individuals perceived the term counseling in the
wrong manner. People believed that counseling was used as a way of guidance rather than a
person who listens and help resolve issues. Counseling was not properly introduced until the late
1890s, where it was considered less of assistance and more of a form of advice. It was during the
Industrial Revolution, when the concern to improve the lives of the citizens involved increased the
need of counseling. During this period, large array of individuals such as teachers and social
reformers focused on educating the younger generations about the world around them CITATION

major difference between the two. Counseling is used primarily to help the

Isabel Allende, The Goddaughter Of Salvador Allende
Jonathan Pinela Lebron Ms. Linda M. Goddard Comp II ENC 1102 10108 November, 15 2017
Title Isabel Allende was born on August 2, 1942, in Lima, Peru, to TomГ
Ўs and Francisca Allende.
Isabel Allende is the goddaughter of Salvador Allende, the first socialist president of Chile who
was her father s cousin. Allende s father was a diplomat and deserted the family when Allende was
just two years. Allende, her siblings, and mother then moved in with her grandfather in Chile.
Allende remembers herself as a rebellious child during those years living with her grandfather. We
lived in an affluent house with no money, (Allende, Telegraph). My grandfather would pay for
what was necessary but my mother did not even have the cash to buy us an ice... Show more content

This perseverance could be related to Allende s perseverance in life such as becoming a
journalist and author. Throughout the three Fortunato generations, there was the desired result
of a successful circus. The first Fortunato persevered through times of catastrophe and turmoil
(105) and for years Horacio s grandfather bore the sole responsibility for the spectacle (105). His
desire to save and maintain his circus came to the point where he had to perform almost all of
the acts. However, he managed somehow to survive bad times while many other circuses
succumbed and were thus obliterated(106). The first Fortunato s desire to keep his circus buoyant
left him to persevere through all the hard time and come out stronger. The first Fortunato s son,
Fortunato II, was left a debt free enterprise. He too persevered with an unshakable prudence and
under his direction the circus grew in size and prestige until it was the largest in the nation.
(105) He made it so that the enormous caravan no longer drifted aimlessly, as it had in his father
s day, but steamed purposefully (106). The second Fortunato was able to make the circus a
greater success. His father before him allowed him to do so through his perseverance and thus
created a new, higher goal for his son to reach. Horacio, the third Fortunato, intended to be rich
from the time he was a young boy (108). His goal was predetermined and he eventually lived a
good life.

Memory Is an Antimuseum
The memory is an antimuseum, an invisible art that transforms each individual. It is ever
developing, much related to spaces, in fact, memory is strictly related to spaces. They are
formed in context of space and time, as I will later develop. Ever since the notion of memory
came to be it was closely related and developed and explained using places, spaces, buildings. The
perfect metaphor for memories is the city. The memorystarts from something simple and by
cumulating information it develops and grows. This metaphor connects the idea of memory and
Architecture on a different, deeper level that normal. There are moments in history that are better
recollected form the ruins of sculptures or of buildings than from the written stories.
Greeks we re the ones to invent the art of memory, then it passed, like all the other arts, on to Rome
and into European tradition. The technique was to impress places and images in to memory. At its
time, a trained memory was of great value. Frances Yates describes the process in the book The Art
of Memory: the process begins with imprinting on the memory a series of loci and places through
the mnemonic type of place system. The person travels through a building a creates memories in
the form of images that he stores in his mind, then he has to describe the visited place in the same
sequence and with as many details as possible.
The soul never thinks without a mental picture Aristotle

The way Jeff Corwin wrote it was a mix of scientific facts and journalistic approach. It was like
reading a story and learning more than you expect. It also differs from other books that present
the same types of facts because this book is more of a wakeup call. He specified human activity as
the root of all of it and has presented actual, hard, cold facts about its effects on our own species.
Jeff Corwin s experiences were the most engaging parts of the book. He has done so much to
help save the animals and the way he tells his stories shows his passion for these animals and his
love for what he does. There were intense moments in his stories and they were very exciting as
he brought readers into his adventure. It can be seen that his facts can be verified. His sources
were specifically listed in over 60 pages of bibliography. The average global temperature rose 1.3
degrees Fahrenheit from 1906 to 2005, according to the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel
on Climate Change (IPCC), which predicts there will be an increase of 3.2 to 7.2 degrees
Fahrenheit in this century, depending on how effectively greenhouse gases are curbed. He sourced
this based on a book by the World watch Institute, State of The World 2009: Into a Warming World.
From this information it can be derived that his statement is very much true. According to the

Moral Panic
According to Stanley Cohen (1972, pg. 9), moral panics occur when a condition, episode, person
or group of persons emerges to become defined as a threat to societal values and interests , and is
useful for explaining the hysteria in Western society towards the pandemic of HIV/AIDS.
Sociologists argue that there was a social construction around it s meaning and the way in which it
was perceived caused by an apparent social anxiety or prejudice against homosexuals and other
minority groups. This essay will attempt to recognise the definition of moral panics and its
application to HIV/AIDS and its social construction.
A moral panic can be defined as the common characteristics of social problems that suddenly

Simon Watney ([1988] cited in Moral Panics and the Media, 2006, p. 251 252) argues that in the
example of AIDS posed a significant challenge to any moral panic model . He proposed five
major criticisms: firstly, he argues that moral panics place blame on the state as a prime mover
in moral panics. Whilst this may lend itself to be true in the case of the U.K. government, it does
not consider that British society was naturally prejudice against the minority groups inflicted by
the virus before its arrival. Thus, the campaign to warn the public on the virus did not directly
influence the public into a moral panic but was instead a factor. Secondly, a model which
separates out individual moral panics cannot appreciate how they may overlap and reinforce
each other . Thirdly, it does not recognise the significance of dominant discourse. During the
1980s, Britain had already gained a significant prejudice against these minority groups as
mentioned above and thus it may not be useful to describe the pandemic as a moral panic as the
dominant discourse of society at that time was naturally homophobic and racist. Therefore, it can
be argued that HIV/AIDS only heightened the social anxiety of, for example, gay people, because
the anxiety was already in place. The fourth criticism to be made by Watney (1988) is that the
theory does not allow for folk devils resisting the status. Folk devils are

Rhetorical Analysis Of Ronald Reagan s Challenger Disaster...
On January 28th, 1986, the Challenger shuttle exploded shortly after liftoff killing all seven of
the crew members. Almost everyone in America, including hundreds of thousands of
schoolchildren were watching. This disaster meant that Ronald Reagan would have to address
the issue. He answered this call with the Challenger Disaster Address. In this speech, he not only
comforted the families of the astronauts, but also the rest of the nation by rebuilding faith in the
space program. Reagan exibited empathy in his tone, while keeping a strong demeanor. He
demonstrated empathy in many ways. The first is when he says Nancy and I are pained to the
core. He not only shows that he is hurt by this statement, but also his wife, First Lady Nancy.
From there, he goes on to say We share this pain with all of the people of our country. Reagan
expands his subject to all of America as he also shows that even though he is the president, he still
feels pain. He then talks about the significance of the Challenger Disaster and how, in the past 19
years, Americans never witnessed anything like this happen to an American shuttle after it had been
launched. He does, however, point out that the Challenger Seven knew what the risks of having this

The ballista, or shield piercer, was first developed by the Greeks using the same principles as a
bow and arrow. Its primary use was to, as the name suggests, pierce enemy shields, since normal
bows lacked the power to do so. Early versions of the ballista include the gastrophetes, which is
nothing more than an enlarged bow that can be braced against the users body. http:/

Using this relationship assumes that the force constant is constant, or that moving the arms back 2
meters gives twice the force that moving them back 1 meter would do, which is most likely not
correct, but close enough for a general assumption of the force to be made. When the force is
applied, the projectile is accelerated to the end of the ballista, at which point it released with a
velocity v and an angle q from the horizontal. The velocity can be found using the kinematic
equation v2=2ax, where a is the acceleration and x is the length of the ballista that the projectile
is accelerated upon. Since F=ma and F in this case is kd, the equation can be simplified into v2=2
kdx/m. After it is released, the projectile obeys the laws of projectile motion, disregarding air
resistance. Therefore, the range of the ballista can be given by the equation
R=v2sin2q/g,
where g is the accleration due to gravity.
Mangonel History
The Romans, finding the ballista difficult to construct, simplified the design and created the onager.
It had one arm instead of two, and is what is most commonly identified as a catapult today. http:/

Colonisation In A Passage To India
This paper highlights the problematic relationship between the coloniser and the colonised in a
colonial context as manifested in Forster s novel, A Passage to India. It also reveals the
stereotypes with which Orientals are depicted and the constant process of formatting or
brainwashing to which newcomers are subjected, in order to generate colonisers who are all the
same. Further, it deals with the image of the land as being hostile to the colonisers, fighting them
and intensifying their feelings of alienation and exile. The article particularly applies Albert

philosophers. Hopefully, this paper would generate further... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However, the analysis of the text of the novel from a post colonial perspective reveals the
precision with which Forster depicted the socio psychological dilemma of Anglo Indians during
the period of the British Raj. A close examination of Forster s depiction of India will further our
understanding of the psychological dilemma of Anglo Indians who wish to call India home. In this
article, I will highlight the process of formatting (i.e. the process by which is created the coloniser
and his demonised other which is the colonised), without which Anglo Indians would not be
accepted into the community of the colony. I will also highlight those moments when Forster could
not help but feel the gulf that separates him from the Indians. Further, I will focus on the problem
of race relations. Such analysis is vital for understanding the deep thematic meaning of the literary
text and appreciating the problems of identity formation and the complexities of colonial discourse.
At a time when the colonial era is showing signs of a strong comeback, highlighting the traumatic
effects of colonisation becomes even more

Ozzie Freedman Portrayed as a Hero Essay
Ozzie Freedman Portrayed as a Hero
A hero can be defined as one who inspires through manners and actions; who leads through
personal example. Under this definition, the character Ozzie Freedman from Philip Roth s The
Conversion of the Jews (1959) can be classified as a hero. The sections of Discoveries: Fifty
Stories of the Quest (Schechter amp; Semekis 1992): The Call, The Other, The Journey, Helpers
and Guides, The Treasure, and Transformation, can be applied to the story about Ozzie to support it
s inclusion in this class, entitled Myth of the Hero .

When Ozzie tells his mother, Mrs. Freedman, why she must meet with the rabbi, she hit Ozzie
across the face with her hand (Roth, 385). The next week, he stood up to the rabbi once more
saying he believed God could do anything, and the rabbi hit him squarely on the nose (387).
Rabbi Binder and Mrs. Freedman have blind faith in their religion, and are not open to change or
accepting of other beliefs. They are so appalled by Ozzie s questioning that they turn to violence
to try to snap him out of it. Ozzie, however, realizes they are wrong and that one should always be
able to follow their personal beliefs on God. He tells his mother, You shouldn t hit me about God
Mamma. You should never hit anybody about God (394).
A Helper and Guide is supposed to be a figure who assist[s] the protagonist along the difficult road
(Schechter amp; Semekis, 9). In The Conversion of the Jews , Rabbi Binder is supposed to Ozzie
s spiritual leader in the Jewish faith. However, he lashes out at Ozzie for asking intelligent and
perceptive questions about God and the Jewish religion. By being defensive and non
understanding, the rabbi winds up turning Ozzie away from the Jewish religion and in turn is
given a message about religion and faith from Ozzie while he is up on the roof of the synagogue.

Rose For Emily Isolation
A Rose for Emily is a short story written by William Faulkner. The story follows a southern town
after the civil war and with the death of Miss Emily. As the town gossips about the mysterious
house that no one has been inside for the past ten years, the secrets that Miss Emily had been
hiding in the house is also discussed. The story then picks up before Emily s death when her
father dies. After being in denial that her father is gone, she meets a man, Homer, and begins
dating him. Shortly after, Emily buys an arsenic and invites Homer to her house, even though he
is not the marrying type. The town never see s Homer after that night and rarely sees Emily. A
smell starts to arise from the house and her taxes pile up. Ten years later, Miss Emily dies and the
town finally goes inside. What they find is a man s skeleton on a dusty bed and, next to it, a strand
of gray hair. Faulkner s story demonstrates to readers how isolation and living the past can... Show

The South said goodbye to slavery and started to become industrialized. Many, including Miss
Emily, did not like it. Faulkner pays close attention to the dying south and uses specific
elements, like the old southern house, to symbolize living in the past. In addition to the house,
Homer, a Yankee, is introduced into Emily s life. Perhaps she killed Homer because he
represented change and the north, or perhaps she was just crazy. Either way Miss Emily had an
issue of clinginess. For three days after her father s death, she refused to believe that he was
gone. She also kept Homers body for ten years, maybe because she was upset that her father was
taken away. Although Emily s father rejected any man that she brought over, perhaps keeping
Homer was a way to get what she always wanted, a man in her life. The reasons behind Emily s
psychological behaviors vary. Although Miss Emily was already crazy, isolating herself was the
true cause of her destruction and sick

Some of the most common cybersecurity technologies that exist today include: Intrusion detection
systems, Intrusion prevention systems, Encryption, and Firewalls for network protection, as well
as, biometric measures like fingerprint scans for access control. These technologies offer a baseline
of security protection against the most common threats.
Intrusion detection and prevention systems monitor traffic/ logs either on the individual host or on
the network in real time looking for signatures of common attacks or anomalies that will trigger an
alarm either of an attack in motion or an attack that has already occurred.
Firewalls monitor network traffic in real time and either allows or denies certain traffic into or out
of the network based on the type of firewall and the rules they are programmed to follow. Firewalls
are a very important baseline in system infrastructure and design.
Encryption is one of the most important technologies of cybersecurity designed to protect the
confidentiality of data. Encryption uses a complex mathematical formula and a key which
randomizes and creates a coded or encrypted message. Only the party that the message or data is
originally intended for can read in plain text by using the appropriate key to decrypt the data. Some
encryption algorithms such as AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) are very complex

Turbulent Flow Essay
MM4TTF: Introduction to Turbulence and Turbulent Flows
Case Study 1: Turbulent Boundary Layer Structure
Turbulent coherent structures are flow patterns that can be distinguished from each other, as
opposed to motions such as eddies which are subject to the phenomenon of superpositioning.
Several of these occur in the near wall region:
Low speed streaks refer to the regions of relatively slow flow spaced out in a pronounced
manner. They generally occur between the legs of hairpin vortices, where flow is displaced
upward from the surfaces so that it convects low momentum fluid away from the wall. [2]. Streaks
have been found to occur in the sublayer region by Kline and Runstandler (1959)[1] and have been
shown to occur at a distance of y+ ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another type of coherent structure are rolls , which are pairs of counter rotating streamwise
vortices that are the dominant vertical structures in the near wall region defined by y+ 100 [2].
They account for streak production also, as the fluid being pushed outwards between the rolls has
reduced axial velocity, creating a velocity profile which is inviscidly unstable, and also associate
with bursting and lift up.
Bursting may be described as a characteristic behaviour of the low speed streaks. It generally refers
to the whole process of a streak undergoing lift up from near the wall, beginning to oscillate, and
subsequently undergoing break up and ejection
Firstly the streaks slowly begin moving downstream and drifting outwards; this is the process
known as lift up . After the streak reaches a distance of around y+ = 8 12, it begins to rapidly
oscillate, which increases in amplitude as outflow progresses. This ends in a sudden breakup,
generally when y+ is between 10 30. After breakup, the streak lifts away from the wall by a
vigorous and chaotic motion. This process ejects low speed fluid into a region of the boundary layer
with a faster streamwise velocity. [3]. This process of bursting can be shown graphically, with a
representation of a dye streak in a turbulent boundary layer; a typical example is shown below: The
pressure gradient has been observed to have an effect on the bursting phenomenon; it has been
observed that a positive

It restricts the usage of data collection methods such as email survey and internet survey. These
methods have numerous advantages such as geographic flexibility, accurate real time data
capture, and cost effectiveness (Zikmund et al. 2012, p. 164 167). Accordingly, associated risks
influencing decision maker are outdated data, expensive data collection cost and less integration
of data between various markets (Cooper Schindler 2008, p. 6). On the other hand, limited
accessibility of infrastructure condition also adversely impact geographic coverage of the research
(Greenland Kwansah Aidoo 2012, p. 19). For instant roads are dominant transportation in
Indonesia but many road networks are in poor condition and plugging gaps (States News Service
2011). It is, therefore, difficult for researchers to access particular consumer groups while the
heterogeneity of emerging market population is extreme (Burgess Steenkamp 2006, p. 345). Such
non probability sampling could lead to the representation bias from decision makers in which
managers draw similarity and see identical situations where they do not exist (Robbins et al. 2015,
p. 216). Solutions The alternative data source could be a valuable solution for decision maker to

Essay on September 11 and America’s Careless Diplomacy
For the past century, Americans have viewed the United States as standing as a symbol of strength,
freedom, and prosperity. Recently, however, this perceived symbol of a higher society has been
directly attacked by those who strongly disagree with the values projected by the United States.
This is the first timesince the Cold War that the stance of America has even been questioned. The
most deliberating issue resulting from this atrocity has been how America shouldretaliate, or if the

actions from Washington. This action, however, has caused the emergence of even more questions.

Osama bin Laden and his supporters have claimed their hostility toward the West is partly a result
of the United States past support and involvement with Israel. U.S. involvement began during the
conflict between Egypt and Israel, Great Britain, and France when their diplomatic intervention
persuaded the countries to withdraw. The United States, however, continually supported Israel by
aiding them financially and militarily. Israel proceeded to engage in the Six Day War of 1967,
which caused the oil producing Arab States to issue a 15 percent reduction of oil production and
an embargo of shipments to the United States. The October War soon broke out in 1973, and the
same countries issued yet another reduction, this time a 25 percent reduction, causing the United
Nations to call a cease fire. The Arab nations and Israel both refused direct diplomatic relations
with one another, solidifying their conflictual positions. American administrations however
became intent on breaking the diplomatic barriers between the two groups. This brought the Arab
nations and Israel into the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union. Large
advances in the acclimation of peace were facilitated by America s Henry Kissinger in 1973. The
Camp David Accords were drafted, facilitated by U.S. President Jimmy Carter, and Israel and
Egypt were promised large amounts of amounts of military aid, and the two countries signed a peace

  • 2. Calyx Corolla Report Problem Statement Calyx Corolla, as a company, has enjoyed considerable success since its humble beginnings in 1988. As we move forward, our goal is to solidify our presence in the flower market by evolving our current business model. By examining our current marketing techniques and market environment, our aim is to develop a new and successful business approach which will ensure long term financial growth and stability. Our foundation on the creativity of Ruth Owades has set us apart from traditional retailers, and our greatest asset has been our ability to be there for our clients for the simple and meaningful moments in their lives. Our long term prosperity will entail engaging in a new and different marketing campaign, which will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The FTD business model is based on receiving orders at an originating florist, and transmitting the order to a florist local to the delivery address. There are several key differences between FTD and Calyx Corolla. FTD retains about 7% of the final sale price, with the majority going to the receiving and delivering florists. By comparison, Calyx Corolla retains 80% of the price of the flowers, with 20% going directly to the grower. However, the principle difference between Calyx Corolla is that while FTD retains over 20,000 florists within the United States, Calyx Corolla is not directly affiliated with florists, but has strong ties to the fresh flower growers themselves. Calyx Corolla have decided to go the other way from the traditional model of selling fresh flowers, somewhat side stepping direct competition with major retail players. Traditional retail stores cannot strictly be classified as competitors, because of their different operating methods. While retailers rely on consumers setting foot into their stores, Calyx Corolla reaches out to its target market by way of catalogs, telemarketing, and in some cases, promotional tie ins with selected retail stores. Even the approach of FTD follows more closely the traditional retail model than that of Calyx Corolla. It is precisely for this reason that Ruth Owades saw an opportunity to delve into an unexplored market. However, while Calyx Corolla enjoy a much higher operating gross per sale, ... The Numerous Themes in Othello Essay The Numerous Themes in Othello The Shakespearean tragedy Othello contains a number of themes; their relative importance and priority is debated by literary critics. In this essay let us examine the various themes and determine which are dominant and which subordinate. A. C. Bradley, in his book of literary criticism, Shakespearean Tragedy, describes the theme of sexual jealousy in Othello: But jealousy, and especially sexual jealousy, brings with it a sense of shame and humiliation. For this reason it is generally hidden; if we perceive it we ourselves are ashamed and turn our eyes away; and when it is not hidden it commonly stirs contempt as well as pity. Nor is this all. Such jealousy as Othello s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It has been pointed out that he has no intelligible plan for destroying Othello, and he never asks himself what good it will do him to ruin so many people. It is enough for him that he hates the Moor. . . .(133) Act 1 Scene 1 opens with an expression of jealousy and hatred: Roderigo is upbraiding Iago because of the elopement of the object of his affections Desdemona with the Moor: Thou told st me thou didst hold him in thy hate. Iago responds with an expression of hatred, saying that he does indeed hate the general because he Nonsuits my mediators; for, Certes, says he, / I have already chose my officer. Lily B. Campbell in Shakespeare s Tragic Heroes indicates the palpable hatred: It is then on a theme of hate that the play opens. It is a hate of inveterate anger. It is a hate that is bound up with envy. Othello has preferred to be his lieutenant a military theorist, one Michael Cassio, over the experienced soldier Iago, to whom has fallen instead the post of his Moorship s ancient . Roderigo questions Iago: Thou told st me thou didst hold him in thy hate. And the reply is a torrent of proof of the hatred for Othello that has almost exceeded the envy of Cassio because he possesses the prize which Iago has sought to obtain for himself. Kim Kardashian Analysis From the start, people have said , you know we have the right to edit and to approve all footage, said Kim Kardashian about Keeping up with the Kardashians , a show that started in October in the year of 2007. Based on this quote from Kim Kardashian, I think that the show is not real. In addition to this opinion, I think this show is bad because it only shows what the family wants people to see and not the real version of them. Keeping up with the Kardashians is negatively affecting teens around the U.S by showing girls that they need to fix themselves to seem beautiful to others. As the evolution of technology has connected identities from all around the world, geek culture has created a network of individuals with mutual values in spite of their race, ethnicity and cultural traditions. Before the internet became the network that we know today, geek was a term that our society looked down upon. Geek used to be related to people who had knowledge about technology, in other words those who were classified as nerds . These kind of classifications were seen as a bad characteristic. Being a geek made you an outcast, geeks and nerds couldn t even think of being accepted into the popular groups due to their weird personalities and preferences. Nevertheless, as technology evolved and the creation of the Internet interconnected our world, the word geek has been deconstructed up to the point where its past meaning makes no relevance to today s definition. • 11. Good And Evil Characters In The Disney Film Mulan For my fairy tale I chose the Disney film Mulan. I chose Mulan because it is an entertaining movie that delivers a good moral lesson. Mulan has your classic characters, the hero, the evil villain, but Mulan also pays homage and respect to the sacred spirits of her people. In this paper I will discuss Mulan s story of courage, prayer, and determination. I will cover some important symbolism, imagery, and messages found within the film. I will also identify good and evil characters in the film and their respective roles in the movie. Mulan The story of Mulan was inspired by an ancient Chinese ballad from the Song Dynasty, called the Ballad of Mulan (ancientstandard.com). In the movie Mulan s homeland is being attacked by The Huns. Everyone is here village is afraid and begins to gearing up for an imminent war. Every family is required to provide a member from their respective families to help defend themselves against the invading Huns. Mulan s father is the only male in her family and decides he must fight and defend his village against their approaching enemy. The problem is he is old and has previous war wounds that makes his chances of surviving such a war is unlikely. Recently rejected by her matchmaker and potential husband Mulan decides to disguise herself as a male and represent her family in her father s place. This decision leads Mulan on an uncertain and dangerous journey that teaches her and the movie viewers many valuable lessons. The Sacred Before Mulan heads to war she prays to her deceased ancestors for protection on her journey. The term used for praying to ancestors is called ancestor veneration (religionfacts.com). Prayers to ancestors is based on the belief that family members who have died have an interest in present life. These ancestors possess the ability to influence what happens in the lives of their family members still on earth. Mulan and her family seek the guidance from their ancestors throughout the movie. Mulan s ancestors grant her protection and a small dragon named Mushu who they communicate with in regards to Mulan s best interest. Reasons for using literary text in a foreign language classroom, suitable situations for teaching literature and main criteria for selecting suitable literary texts in foreign language classes are stressed so as to be familiar with the underlying reasons, situations and criteria for language teachers using and selecting a literary text. Unfortunately racist and sexist slurs influence real people, for example sending the message to girls that this is how our society views them and causing issues with self esteem and identity. • 15. Japanese Female Divers Essay On the other hand, the history of Japanese female divers stretches back far longer than that of the Koreans. The practice originated at least two thousand years ago, and may have a connection to the migration of Japanese. As fishermen were moving along the southwest islands of Japan and towards the main island, women were reported to have collected shellfish and seaweed. Such catches would provide much needed salt in the diet and some items such as abalone or turbo play a part in religious ceremonies, and also could be traded for other products. Despite his pride when he came with the invitation, she opened it and threw the invitation on the table with annoyance, saying What do you want me to do with that? She was aggravated with the fact she can t go because she did not have anything to wear and didn t want to look poor in front of all the rich women. After discussing the invitation, she asked her husband What do you want me to put on my back to go there? He says But the dress in which you go to the theater. That looks very well to me. He stops resisting when she began crying about not having anything to wear. As she cries, he asks how much would this cost, a proper dress, which would do on other occasions; something very simple? , consequently giving in to her greediness to buy her a new dress. After providing her with a nice dress she became even greedier, desiring a new necklace. Her husband replied, You will wear some natural flowers. They are very stylish this time of the year. According to the Department of Health (2003), Cancer Research UK (2010) and the Office of National Statistics (2004), despite of the drop of statistics of smokers, there are still individuals who would try smoking especially the young people between the ages of eleven to sixteen. In the report of the three offices they listed the main reasons why young people smoke and these are experimentation, to look mature or part of their image, there are older people smokes around them, especially their parents, and peer pressures (DH, 2003) (ONS, 2004) (CR UK, 2010). This experimentation can be attributed through social learning theory, where psychologists and theorists Julian Rotter and Albert Bandura describe it as how we learn from others. Watching others can provide information on which kind of behaviour leads to what consequences (Adams and Bromley, 1998). Parents have strong influence among us. If we are surrounded by our family who smokes, there is a strong possibility that we will imitate them. We also looked at other people such as our peers, actors and singers. Seeing these people smoking can also lead us to emulate them and try smoking. Once we learn to smoke, we keep smoking until it will be hard for us to stop. Moral courage could be something small or big in different cases. The Man in the Water is a Formal essay written by Roger Rosenblatt. It is about a plane crash in Washington D.C. and an unknown man risked his life to save others. In The Man in the Water , Roger Rosenblatt: moral courage is developed through the use of symbolism and conflict. When the helicopter came, the unknown man went around trying to save the survivors. He came back in forth rescuing one people at a time knowing that he risked his life. Every time they lowered a lifeline and flotation ring to him, he passed it on to another of passengers (Rosenblatt). It is ever developing, much related to spaces, in fact, memory is strictly related to spaces. They are formed in context of space and time, as I will later develop. Ever since the notion of memory came to be it was closely related and developed and explained using places, spaces, buildings. The perfect metaphor for memories is the city. There are moments in history that are better recollected form the ruins of sculptures or of buildings than from the written stories. Greeks we re the ones to invent the art of memory, then it passed, like all the other arts, on to Rome and into European tradition. The technique was to impress places and images in to memory. At its time, a trained memory was of great value. Frances Yates describes the process in the book The Art of Memory: the process begins with imprinting on the memory a series of loci and places through the mnemonic type of place system. Sociologists argue that there was a social construction around it s meaning and the way in which it was perceived caused by an apparent social anxiety or prejudice against homosexuals and other minority groups. Simon Watney ([1988] cited in Moral Panics and the Media, 2006, p. 251 252) argues that in the example of AIDS posed a significant challenge to any moral panic model . He proposed five major criticisms: firstly, he argues that moral panics place blame on the state as a prime mover in moral panics. Whilst this may lend itself to be true in the case of the U.K. government, it does not consider that British society was naturally prejudice against the minority groups inflicted by the virus before its arrival. Thus, the campaign to warn the public on the virus did not directly influence the public into a moral panic but was instead a factor. Secondly, a model which separates out individual moral panics cannot appreciate how they may overlap and reinforce each other . Thirdly, it does not recognise the significance of dominant discourse. During the 1980s, Britain had already gained a significant prejudice against these minority groups as mentioned above and thus it may not be useful to describe the pandemic as a moral panic as the dominant discourse of society at that time was naturally homophobic and racist. Therefore, it can be argued that HIV/AIDS only heightened the social anxiety of, for example, gay people, because the anxiety was already in place. The fourth criticism to be made by Watney (1988) is that the theory does not allow for folk devils resisting the status. Folk devils are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When the force is applied, the projectile is accelerated to the end of the ballista, at which point it released with a velocity v and an angle q from the horizontal. The velocity can be found using the kinematic equation v2=2ax, where a is the acceleration and x is the length of the ballista that the projectile is accelerated upon. Since F=ma and F in this case is kd, the equation can be simplified into v2=2 kdx/m. After it is released, the projectile obeys the laws of projectile motion, disregarding air resistance. The chapter on The Call describes that a hero may be on the brink of a decisive change (21) and they perceive the danger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Ozzie tells his mother, Mrs. Freedman, why she must meet with the rabbi, she hit Ozzie across the face with her hand (Roth, 385). The next week, he stood up to the rabbi once more saying he believed God could do anything, and the rabbi hit him squarely on the nose (387). Rabbi Binder and Mrs. Freedman have blind faith in their religion, and are not open to change or accepting of other beliefs. They are so appalled by Ozzie s questioning that they turn to violence to try to snap him out of it. Ozzie, however, realizes they are wrong and that one should always be able to follow their personal beliefs on God. He tells his mother, You shouldn t hit me about God Mamma. You should never hit anybody about God (394). A Helper and Guide is supposed to be a figure who assist[s] the protagonist along the difficult road (Schechter amp; Semekis, 9). In The Conversion of the Jews , Rabbi Binder is supposed to Ozzie s spiritual leader in the Jewish faith. However, he lashes out at Ozzie for asking intelligent and perceptive questions about God and the Jewish religion. By being defensive and non understanding, the rabbi winds up turning Ozzie away from the Jewish religion and in turn is given a message about religion and faith from Ozzie while he is up on the roof of the synagogue. • 48. Rose For Emily Isolation A Rose for Emily is a short story written by William Faulkner. The story follows a southern town after the civil war and with the death of Miss Emily. As the town gossips about the mysterious house that no one has been inside for the past ten years, the secrets that Miss Emily had been hiding in the house is also discussed. The story then picks up before Emily s death when her father dies. After being in denial that her father is gone, she meets a man, Homer, and begins dating him. Shortly after, Emily buys an arsenic and invites Homer to her house, even though he is not the marrying type. The town never see s Homer after that night and rarely sees Emily. A smell starts to arise from the house and her taxes pile up. Ten years later, Miss Emily dies and the town finally goes inside. What they find is a man s skeleton on a dusty bed and, next to it, a strand of gray hair. Faulkner s story demonstrates to readers how isolation and living the past can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The South said goodbye to slavery and started to become industrialized. Many, including Miss Emily, did not like it. Faulkner pays close attention to the dying south and uses specific elements, like the old southern house, to symbolize living in the past. In addition to the house, Homer, a Yankee, is introduced into Emily s life. Perhaps she killed Homer because he represented change and the north, or perhaps she was just crazy. Either way Miss Emily had an issue of clinginess. For three days after her father s death, she refused to believe that he was gone. She also kept Homers body for ten years, maybe because she was upset that her father was taken away. Although Emily s father rejected any man that she brought over, perhaps keeping Homer was a way to get what she always wanted, a man in her life. The reasons behind Emily s psychological behaviors vary. Although Miss Emily was already crazy, isolating herself was the true cause of her destruction and sick ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Kants On Crimina Carnis By Immanuel Kant Crimina Carnis Serious violations of our duty towards ourselves produce an aversion accompanied either by horror or by disgust; suicide is of the horrible, Crimina Carnis of the disgusting (Kant, 300). In the philosophical argument pertaining to suicide entitled Suicide and Duty by Immanuel Kant, Kant defines and argues the immorality of suicide. Labelling suicide a kind of Crimina Carnis (300) Crimina of/pertaining to a crime (Latin Dict.) and Carnis which is related to the flesh, Kant avows that every living thing even an injured tree in nature seeks some sort of preservation (300); thus deeming suicide immoral. In relation to suicide, Kant argues that instead of focusing on the aspect of a human being sacrificing their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some of the most common cybersecurity technologies that exist today include: Intrusion detection systems, Intrusion prevention systems, Encryption, and Firewalls for network protection, as well as, biometric measures like fingerprint scans for access control. These technologies offer a baseline of security protection against the most common threats. Intrusion detection and prevention systems monitor traffic/ logs either on the individual host or on the network in real time looking for signatures of common attacks or anomalies that will trigger an alarm either of an attack in motion or an attack that has already occurred. Firewalls monitor network traffic in real time and either allows or denies certain traffic into or out of the network based on the type of firewall and the rules they are programmed to follow. Firewalls are a very important baseline in system infrastructure and design. Encryption is one of the most important technologies of cybersecurity designed to protect the confidentiality of data. Encryption uses a complex mathematical formula and a key which randomizes and creates a coded or encrypted message. Only the party that the message or data is originally intended for can read in plain text by using the appropriate key to decrypt the data. Some encryption algorithms such as AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) are very complex ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Turbulent Flow Essay MM4TTF: Introduction to Turbulence and Turbulent Flows Case Study 1: Turbulent Boundary Layer Structure Turbulent coherent structures are flow patterns that can be distinguished from each other, as opposed to motions such as eddies which are subject to the phenomenon of superpositioning. Several of these occur in the near wall region: Low speed streaks refer to the regions of relatively slow flow spaced out in a pronounced manner. They generally occur between the legs of hairpin vortices, where flow is displaced upward from the surfaces so that it convects low momentum fluid away from the wall. [2]. Streaks have been found to occur in the sublayer region by Kline and Runstandler (1959)[1] and have been shown to occur at a distance of y+ ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another type of coherent structure are rolls , which are pairs of counter rotating streamwise vortices that are the dominant vertical structures in the near wall region defined by y+ 100 [2]. They account for streak production also, as the fluid being pushed outwards between the rolls has reduced axial velocity, creating a velocity profile which is inviscidly unstable, and also associate with bursting and lift up. Bursting may be described as a characteristic behaviour of the low speed streaks. It generally refers to the whole process of a streak undergoing lift up from near the wall, beginning to oscillate, and subsequently undergoing break up and ejection Firstly the streaks slowly begin moving downstream and drifting outwards; this is the process known as lift up . After the streak reaches a distance of around y+ = 8 12, it begins to rapidly oscillate, which increases in amplitude as outflow progresses. This ends in a sudden breakup, generally when y+ is between 10 30. After breakup, the streak lifts away from the wall by a vigorous and chaotic motion. This process ejects low speed fluid into a region of the boundary layer with a faster streamwise velocity. [3]. This process of bursting can be shown graphically, with a representation of a dye streak in a turbulent boundary layer; a typical example is shown below: The pressure gradient has been observed to have an effect on the bursting phenomenon; it has been observed that a positive ... Numerous factors committing business opportunities in Indonesia such as high consumer market, remarkable consumer growth, and abundant natural resources (Global Indonesian Voices 2013). From managers perspective, marketing information and deep customer insights are remarkably crucial for building customer value and relationship (Kotler et al. 2013, p. 150). Marketing research in emerging market as Indonesia indeed poses several challenges to researchers and therefore negatively impact the efficiency of business decisions. This paper would analyse these challenges in term of infrastructure, socio culture,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It restricts the usage of data collection methods such as email survey and internet survey. These methods have numerous advantages such as geographic flexibility, accurate real time data capture, and cost effectiveness (Zikmund et al. 2012, p. 164 167). Accordingly, associated risks influencing decision maker are outdated data, expensive data collection cost and less integration of data between various markets (Cooper Schindler 2008, p. 6). On the other hand, limited accessibility of infrastructure condition also adversely impact geographic coverage of the research (Greenland Kwansah Aidoo 2012, p. 19). For instant roads are dominant transportation in Indonesia but many road networks are in poor condition and plugging gaps (States News Service 2011). It is, therefore, difficult for researchers to access particular consumer groups while the heterogeneity of emerging market population is extreme (Burgess Steenkamp 2006, p. 345). Such non probability sampling could lead to the representation bias from decision makers in which managers draw similarity and see identical situations where they do not exist (Robbins et al. 2015, p. 216). Solutions The alternative data source could be a valuable solution for decision maker to collect extensive data in limited infrastructure condition. Three alternative data sources ... • 53. Essay on September 11 and America’s Careless Diplomacy For the past century, Americans have viewed the United States as standing as a symbol of strength, freedom, and prosperity. Recently, however, this perceived symbol of a higher society has been directly attacked by those who strongly disagree with the values projected by the United States. This is the first timesince the Cold War that the stance of America has even been questioned. The most deliberating issue resulting from this atrocity has been how America shouldretaliate, or if the US should even retaliate at all. Within the past few weeks this question has been answered by actions from Washington. This action, however, has caused the emergence of even more questions. There are many deeply rooted problems to address that go... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Osama bin Laden and his supporters have claimed their hostility toward the West is partly a result of the United States past support and involvement with Israel. U.S. involvement began during the conflict between Egypt and Israel, Great Britain, and France when their diplomatic intervention persuaded the countries to withdraw. The United States, however, continually supported Israel by aiding them financially and militarily. Israel proceeded to engage in the Six Day War of 1967, which caused the oil producing Arab States to issue a 15 percent reduction of oil production and an embargo of shipments to the United States. The October War soon broke out in 1973, and the same countries issued yet another reduction, this time a 25 percent reduction, causing the United Nations to call a cease fire. The Arab nations and Israel both refused direct diplomatic relations with one another, solidifying their conflictual positions. American administrations however became intent on breaking the diplomatic barriers between the two groups. This brought the Arab nations and Israel into the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union. Large advances in the acclimation of peace were facilitated by America s Henry Kissinger in 1973. The Camp David Accords were drafted, facilitated by U.S. President Jimmy Carter, and Israel and Egypt were promised large amounts of amounts of military aid, and the two countries signed a peace ...
