Sources of energy in LPU
• The energy which we are continuously using in LPU Hostels is the
ELECTRICAL ONE.
• There are mainly two type of resources that we are currently using in
LPU. And these are:-
• Renewable resources- that are those resources which can be
used repeatedly and replaced naturally. In LPU we are using solar
power plant as a renewable source of energy.
• Non-Renewable Resources- It’s a natural resource that is used up
faster than it can be made by nature. It cannot be produced, grown or
generated on a scale which can sustain how quickly it is being
consumed. And here the source which we are using is through the
power supply form Punjab Government.

Energy Consumption
• WHAT IS ENERGY CONSUMPTION ?
• Its’ nothing but the usage of
energy for fulfilling our need.
• Here, we are consuming energy
mainly in the form of electrical
energy.
 It is used for-
 Charging our electronic
gadgets.
 The fan the ac which we use
on the daily basis in summers.
 The tube light or in CFLs.
Wastage of electricity
Energy At LPU Because of our carelessness ,a huge
amount of energy is getting wasted in just few seconds.
So, let us see how energy is being getting wasted in LPU.
• Leaving electrical and electronic appliances on standby
mode:-
• The traditional bulbs and tube -lights consume alight amount
of energy and makes a contribution of almost 10 -15% in the
electrical bill.
• Lights and fans are open when class is not going on.
Image of classroom 38-807
• Energy is also consumed by electrical appliences
An electrical heater uses 1500 watts
and will use 1.5 units per hours.
An A.C of 1.5 ton consumes
about 8 units per hour.
An Hair Dryer uses
300 to 600 watt in
30 minute which is
0.03Kwh.
An Water cooler uses
200 to 350 watt in 3
hours which is 0.2Kwh.
A Laptop use 70 to 80 watt
in 4 hours per day which is
0.2Kwh.
• Lights are open during day time.

• SUBSTATION OFFICER SAID THAT:-
• Most of the Electricity which we are
consuming in LPU is supplied by Punjab
government.
• We collected the readings of current
which is consumed in last few months in
LPU.
• Punjab Government is supplying 4 Mega
watt every month.
• Sub-Station officer said that this
year(2018) bill of month August is
approximately 3 crore 50 lacs which is
highest amount to pay till now.
• He also said that the electricity bill is
approximately 1 crore every month.

• In LPU mostly we use CFLs and Florescent Bulbs
which consume more electricity then LED’s
• Use solar Geyser instead of Ordinary Geyser
• In LPU we are using electric Geysers which consume more energy.
Ordinary Geyser

New Measures that can be taken.
• Energy control Unit
Conclusion
•If you really want to make the difference the just don’t
conserve electricity but start to generate electricity in
our college. May not on large scale but even but if u can
in initial phase generation in small amount even that will
make considerable amount of difference.
•Although we are having solar power plants which are
producing little amount electricity, if we increase
electricity production through solar panel we can save
non-renewable resourses.
