● The history of Washington includes thousands of
years of Native American history before
Europeans began to establish territorial claims.
● Celebrated their 100th year
anniversary last year
● In 1889, Washington Became
the 42nd state of the United
States.

● The Lewis and Clark expedition, under
direction from President Thomas Jefferson,
entered the state on October 10, 1805.
● The first European record of a landing on the
Washington coast was in 1774 by Spaniard
Juan Pérez.
● Animal and human bones 13,000 years old
