2. VÂLCEA COUNTY
Vâlcea county has an area of 5765 km2, which represents
2.43% of România, and is divided into the following
administrative-territorial units: 2 municipalities (Râmnicu
Vâlcea - County resident and Drăgăşani), 8 cities (Brezoi,
Govora Baths, Olăneşti Baths, Călimăneşti, Horezu mines and
Mari, which were added Băbeni Bălcesti and that cities were
declared in 2002).

3. VILLAGE MUSEUM
The village museum has been outlined its topical profile
since 1974, like a form of a village museum destinated to
reconstitute, on a 8 hectars area, the functional image of a
traditional rural settlement with all its social - cultural
institutions.

4. NICOLAE BĂLCESCU
MEMORIAL MUSEUM
The museum is located in a mansion that belonged to the
Bălcescu family with special interior decorations and elegant
furniture, found in a good state.

5. GOVORA
It is a All-season resort, famous for the variety and rich
therapeutical properties of chlorine, sulfur (for external
coures) sodium, iodine, bromine, and the hypotonic rich in
calcium, magnesium, sulfur less (for internal cures) known
and used since 1866.

6. GOVORA MONASTERY
Govora Monastery,(XIX) in 1640 was printed "Rule of Govora“
first book in Romanian law.

7. GOVORA MUSEUM
The archaeology collection comprises over 4,000 pieces,
from the pre-ice period represented by mammoth fossils,
Ursus arctes and Ursus spaeleos exhibits from the Upper
Paleolithic, the Neolithic Age, the transition period towards
the Bronze Age, the early and classic Bronze Age.

9. The Oltenian Bistriţa, the monastic endowment built by
the almighty family of Craioveşti, at Costeştii Valcei,
attracts thousands of pilgrims every year, who choose,
as touristic destination of excellence, the Horezu Basin
or cross the Valcea County

11. CĂLIMĂNEŞTI
In 1893, mineral water from Călimăneşti-Caciulata
won THE GOLD MEDAL at the international exhibition
of food and mineral water in Brussels.

12. COZIA MONASTERY
Cozia Monastery is a medieval monastic complex, located
in Călimăneşti by the river Olt. It was founded by Mr.
Mircea the Old, expanded and renovated over the
centuries of its history.

14. SURUPATELE MONASTERY
The Brâncovenesc style, also known as Wallachian
Renaissance and Romanian Renaissance, is an art and
architectural style that evolved during the administration of
Prince Constantin Brancoveanu in the late 17th and early
18th centuries.

15. The museum was established due to the 1970 donation made
by Alexandru Bălintescu to his native village. It is located in
the Cultural Centre of Costeşti.

16. TROVANTS – the living stones – unique phenomenon in the
world in Costesti, Valcea county. The “Trovants” are stones or
sandstone concretions that secrete cement and appear to
grow by themselves. They consist of a stone core with an
outer shell of sand believed to be the result of cementation
that occurred millions of years ago.

24. MĂLDĂREŞTI MUSEUM
The Museum Măldăreşti was held in a picturesque natural
environment at about 3 kilometers from Horezu and
gathered together Greceanu, Duca and Memorial House I.G.
Duca.

26. In 1873 at the urging of Dr. Carol Davila were
sent samples of mineral waters from Olăneşti at
the International Exhibition in Vienna, where he
won THE GOLD MEDAL.

27. OCNELE MARI SALT
The mines Ocnele Mari is arranged at 225 meters above sea level
lies on a area of 10,000 square meters. The park has a church, a
museum, restaurant, souvenir shops, bars, a soccer field,

28. TURNU MONASTERY
Turnu Monastery is one of the most sacred Christian monastic
dwellings of the Ramnic Diocese. Secluded on the left
bank of the Olt River, sheltered by Cozia Mountain and located
nearly 2 km away from Cozia Monastery, also built by an
ancient Romanian ruler, Mircea The Old, Turnu Monastery was,
for centuries, a very remote and unreachable place.

29. STĂNIŞOARA MONASTERY
Stănişoara Monastery, called "Nucet" until XVIII th
century, is situated at the foot of Cozia massif, on the
south versant, on the territory of Calimanesti city.

30. COZIA MOUNTAIN
Cozia Mountain stands on the left Olt river, ne
ar Călimăneşti, 1668 m, a monolithic rock in the central -
southern Carpathians.

It is surrounded by forests of pine, spruce and beech in any
season resort offers an atmosphere of tranquility and
relaxation.

39. PĂTRUNSA MONASTERY
Found in Barbatesti village union, Valcea department, Romania,
7 km away from the village, the abbey celebrates its feast day
as “Pious Paraschiva”; it lies on the lap of Buila Mountain.

40. FRĂSINEI MONASTERY
The priests' life from here is just like the one from the Holly
Mountain Athos. The most powerful exorcizes from Romania take
place at Frasinei Monastery in Valcea. In this Saint Monastery,
women don't have access.

42. PAHOMIE HERMITAGE
The founding document of the hermitage states that the
founders are Pahomie the monk and Sava The Outlaw, in 1520,
thus the name of “Pahomie Hermitage of the Beautiful Spring”.

43. SĂRĂCINEŞTI MONASTERY
At the confluence with the river Olăneşti key, key in the middle
of Valley Village until 1964 was called Sararcinesti as it

NATIONAL PARK
The Buila-Vânturariţa Massif is located in the central-northern
part of Valcea County is one of the Căpăţânii Mountains massifs.
