2. The settlement is situated in the eastern part
of the Hârtibaciu Plateau, between gorges and
marshes that have been sanitized throughout
the centuries.
The village is situated at the watercourse
between the watersheds of Târnava Mare and
Olt. Relief is formed mostly from gentle hills.

3. When the Saxons colonized the Viscri area, there
was a small chapel here. Over time, it has undergone
several transformations. The present church in Viscri
is a church in the roman style, enlarged at the
beginning of the XVIth century, to form a trapezoidal
vessel with many valuable artistic elements.
The museum inside the fortress includes particularly
interesting objects.

4. Viscri became known throughout Europe after
Prince Charles bought a house here in 1996 and
spoke in many interviews about the beauties of the
village in Transylvania. The royal house of Viscri is
rented over the year to tourists, who have to take
out 670 pounds a week from their pocket. Charles

annually by more than 15,000 tourists, most
foreigners.
