  3. 3. An interesting building, vigorous, popular with architectural character, is the former Administrative Palace. Today is the headquarter of Dolj Prefecture and County Council. Is the work of the architect Petre Antonescu. This building was constructed between the years 1912-1913. DOLJ PREFECTURE
  4. 4. A special building is the former Bank of Commerce, now City Hall of Craiova. Designed by architect John Mincu, is finished in 1916. The building has a rich interior decorated with stucco, Venetian mosaics and wrought iron grill. CITY HALL
  5. 5. The National Theatre “Marin Sorescu” of Craiova, founded in 1850, occupies a special place in the history of the Romanian theatre. This theater is the first in Eastern Europe which joined the European Theater Convention. NATIONAL THEATER "Marin Sorescu"
  6. 6. PHILHARMONIC "Oltenia" Prestigious institution in Romanian musical landscape, Philharmonic Oltenia Craiova was founded in 1904 and it was recognized in 1947 by royal decree. The artistic activity is carried out on several levels, including Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra "Craiova virtuosos" Academic choir and several chamber groups.
  7. 7. The oldest building - Craiova area - which has been preserved, certified as such, is the Monastery Cosuna. It falls into the category of religious buildings-monuments in the Romanian Country. An old mapping maintains that the monastery was built in 1483. MONASTERY COSUNA

MUSEUM OF ART Brancusi Cabinet "Vitellius" (plaster, 1898) "Ego" (1905) "Head boy" (1906) "The Kiss" (Stone, 1907) "Female Tors" (marble, 1909) This work is a bronze copy of the Stork collection. "Miss Pogany" Born in Hobita, Dolj County, Constantin Brancusi (1876-1957) has found vocation in Craiova, where he attended the School of Arts and Crafts and created his first work. He often said that in this city he "was born for the second time”.
  13. 13. OLTENIA MUSEUMS Department of History and Archeology BANIE HOUSE Department of Ethnography Department of Natural Sciences Banie House is the oldest building in town, dating from 1699. Restored by Constantin Brancoveanu in the architectural style carrying his name, Banie House has two floors, with rooms with brick vaults downstairs, with bedroom and balcony upstairs. This is the place where the Divan of Craiova used to meet.
