Together we are the best
The students realized that we are actually the same,
that we have the same interests, that we listen to the
same music or that we watch the same movies. The
only thing that separates us is just a border.
The sixth grade
Etapa salutului virtual
 The first meeting with our partners. We talked about
our schools, what we do, what we like and dislike. The
10th question were icebreakers in our future
partnership.

This is our town
Pașcani is a municipality in Iași County, Moldova, Romania, consisting of the component localities Blăgești, Boșteni, Gâștești, Lunca,
Pașcani (residence) and Sodomeni. It is the second largest urban center in the county, with a population of 33,745 inhabitants (2011).
It is an important railway junction.
 LOCATION The city is located in the northwestern part of the county, in the south of the Suceava Plateau, on the
banks of the Siret River. It is crossed by the national road DN28A, which connects it to the east of Târgu Frumos
(further to Iași on DN28) and to the west to Moțca (further to Suceava on DN2). This road intersects at Pașcani with
the county road DJ208, which connects it to the south with Stolniceni-Prăjescu, Mogoșești-Siret, Hălăucești, Mircești
and further in Neamț de Săbăoani county (where it ends in DN2 which leads further to Roman); and north of Valea
Seacă, Lespezi, and further in Suceava County to Dolhasca, Dolhești, Preutești and Fălticeni (where it also ends in
DN2). [4] Also from DN28A, in Blăgești, the county road DJ281C branches, which leads to the northeast to
Hărmănești, Todirești, Balș and Cotnari (where it ends in DN28B). [5] The city is a railway junction, its station on the
Suceava-Roman railway being the point from which another important railway branch to Iași (Highway CFR 606)
branches, as well as a secondary one to Târgu Neamț. Climate Due to its geographical position, the town of Pașcani has
a fairly pronounced continental climate, integrating into the climate of the high hills. Apart from geographical position
and relief, the climate of the Siret Valley in the Pașcani sector is related to other factors, more important being the
solar radiation and the general circulation of the Atlantic anticyclonic air masses - and the direction of the Siret Valley
(NS), which channels air currents. requires citation] Vegetation The vegetation is characteristic of the plateau areas. In
places where the forest has been destroyed, the vegetation is steppe-like. The forest occupies small areas, in the East
and West of Pașcani municipality, on the nearby hills, at Moțca, Miroslovești, Valea-Seacă. It is dominated by beech,
hornbeam, sessile oak, lime, birch and less frequently, maple, maple, elm, oak, silver lime, scorch and wild cherry.
 Fauna Taking into account all the natural aspects, we can talk about a fauna of beech forests and an aquatic fauna.
Among the common mammals, characteristic of the surrounding forests, we have the squirrel, the deer, the wild boar.
To these are added the wolf, the fox, the rabbit, the wild cat, the ferret, the squirrel, the mice. Among the birds we have
the sparrow, the blackbird, the woodpecker, the wild pigeon, the quail, the pupa, the starling, the owl, the hawk.
Reptiles are represented by the forest snake, the lizard. The ponds in Lunca Siretului are home to the wild duck, the
wild goose, the lizard, the blue gull, the heron. In the water live the carp, the pikeperch, the crucian, the redstart.
 The first documentary attestation of the name of the city dates from April 8, 1419, when it appears inscribed as the
name of an estate in a deed of donation from the time of Alexander the Good, at that time there was a village with this
name. At the beginning of the 19th century, a small town appeared near the village. With the construction of the Lviv-
Chernivtsi-Iasi railway, which passed through the area, the small town, which in 1879 had only two inns and a few
shops, flourished.
 At the end of the 19th century, Pașcani was a rural commune, residence of the Siretul de Jos plateau of Suceava county,
a commune formed by the villages Târgușorul Pașcani, Gara Pașcani, Fântânelele, Brătești, Sodomeni, Boșteni, Gâșteni
Sea, Topile , Blăgești and Lunca, with a total of 10498 inhabitants living in 2302 houses. There were eight Orthodox
churches in the commune and the Roman Catholic Church in Pașcani, six mixed schools in Câscești, Lunca, Târgu
Pașcani, Sodomeni, Topilele, Valea Seacă, a CFR mixed urban primary school at Pașcani Station and two rural schools
in Blat. Bratesti, six mills and a soap factory. The main landowners were the heirs of Colonel Eugen Alcaz, who had
purchased them from N. Rosetti-Roznovanu. The Socec yearbook from 1925 records the commune as the residence of
the Pașcani plateau in the same county, with 10,404 inhabitants in the villages of Blăgești, Boșteni, Brătești, Fântânele,
Lunca, Pașcani-Gară, Pașcani-Vatra, Sodomeni and Pașcani-Târg commune, primary schools - one for boys, one for
girls, one for CFR and one for the Jewish community - as well as a railway workshop with over 1000 employees. [9] In
1931, Pașcani received the status of urban commune within Baia county, having in administration also the suburban
commune Topile. In 1950, Pașcani received the status of district city, residence of Pașcani district in Iași region. In 1968,
it lost its status as an administrative center, returning to Iași County, re-established. In 1995, it received the title of
municipalityauna allows hunting and sport fishing.
 If Romania is one of your next destinations to visit, make sure you take
some time to do some research about the special places you will find
here, including one of its most amazing regions – Bucovina (north-east
Romania). Bucovina is well known as a spectacular area for its
wonderful landscapes and national parks, so if you’re planning to do
some hiking, this is definitely the place for you to go. Also, Bucovina
has many UNESCO World Heritage Sites (especially painted churches,
considered the symbol of this region), famous monuments and
extremely praised gastronomy. Here are the top 5 places not to miss if
you go to Bucovina!
 Voronet Monastery
 Also named the Sistine Chapel of the East, Voronet Monastery is part
of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the most popular cultural
attraction in Bucovina.
 Built in a very short time, by Stephen the Great, the church of the
Monastery of Voronet is famous for its beautiful frescoes that highlight
moral stories of the Bible. A particular color that you will notice here is
the “Voronet blue”, a shade extremely hard to replicate nowadays.
The Bucovina Village Museum
Located in Suceava city, the museum reflects the organization and the activity of the traditional Bucovina villages, along with the
architecture of the households and community constructions.
 You will also find here several hydraulic technical installations such as Mănăstirea Humorului water mill, the mill
machine, the hackle for wool processing and you can learn how traditional working techniques looked like in the past.
 Transrarau Road - known as the "road of treasures" in Bucovina
 If you want to combine driving with hiking, or just want to see the beauty of this area while sitting in your
car, Transrarau is reaching its highest point at 1.400 meters and offers you a great view.
 The road is a 28 kilometers pass between Porojata village and Chiril Village, across the Rarau Mountains.
 Don’t forget that the road is closed during the winter season, so it is better to visit this area during late spring,
summer or early fall.
 Suceava Fortress
 Also known as the Princely Fortress of Suceava, the fortification was built at the end of the 14th century, by Moldavian
ruler Peter Musat (Petru II), to protect the place from the threat of the Ottoman Empire.
 The fortification has seen many bloody battles, and hosted some of the most powerful leaders in the world, ages ago.
 Every year, the Suceava Fortress hosts festivals and concerts that bring in tourists from all over the world.
 The Painted church of Sucevita Monastery
 The colorful paintings of Sucevita Monastery, included on the UNESCO World Heritage list, will be one of the most
impressive things you will see in Bucovina.
 The church was built in the 16 century and has exterior walls with paintings that look almost intact, despite the bad
weather conditions and the time’s mark.
 Don’t forget to check on the “Prayer of all Saints” painting here, considered the largest of all Moldavian wall paintings.
 The capital of Romania’s region of Moldavia, Iași is a charming city full of attractions that speak of its
rich culture and glorious past. Traditionally one of the leading centres of Romania’s social, artistic and
academic life, the city’s profile is slowly on the rise again.
 Museums
 With its picturesque 55 meter (180 ft) clock tower, which offers great views over the city, Iași’s
majestic Palace of Culture is the city’s main landmark. Built in Gothic revival style between 1906 and
1925, it features 298 rooms and hosts four major museums, all worthy of a visit. The History Museum
of Moldova has a great display beautiful ceramics, such as enigmatic figures from the Cucuteni
culture and bowls painted in earthly tones. History buffs will also appreciate the museum’s extensive
collection of Dacian, Sarmatian and Roman artefacts, as well as a 70,000-year-old mammoth skull.
Iași’s Art Museum, the oldest and largest in the country, has an impressive painting collection by
Romanian and international artists, while the Moldova Ethnographic Museum gives visitors a glimpse
into how the lives of the inhabitants of the area evolved over the centuries. The Stefan Procopiu
Museum of Science and Technology should not be missed either, as it has an impressive
crystallography section.
 Dating from 1896, The Vasile Alecsandri National Theatre is the country’s oldest, and according to many, also the most
beautiful. Its elegant and richly adorned interior, a blend of Baroque and Rococo styles, features a ceiling painted by
Viennese painter Alexander Goltz decorated with nymphs and cupids. The curtain, also painted, shows an allegory of
the three stages of life as well as an allegory of the Romanian Unification.
The 1418 electric lights and a huge chandelier with more than 100 Venetian crystal lamps, add a touch of elegance to the
main auditorium.
 More info
 Elisabeta Esplanade
 Due to its significant elevation, the Elisabeta Esplanade offers great views over the city. Built at the beginning of the
20th century, it facilitated pedestrian transit in the area connecting the Iași Central Station, Copou Hill and the city
centre. Interestingly, before the esplanade was built, the area, which was rich in clay, provided local potters in the
nearby potters’ neighbourhood with the best material.
 Moldavian Metropolitan Cathedral
 Cathedral
 Share
 View
 Add to Plan
 Once called ‘the city of a hundred churches,’ Iași is home to several churches and monasteries that are still important
religious and cultural centres. The Moldavian Metropolitan Cathedral, built between 1833 and 1839, was designed by
Alexandru Orăscu, who also designed the University of Bucharest. The interior, painted by one of the most important
Romanian painters, Gheorghe Tattarescu, the co-founder of the National School of Fine Arts of Bucharest.
The cathedral is one of the most important destinations for pilgrims, who flock to the city every October to honour the
relics of Saint Parascheva, the patron saint of Moldova.
