In this thought-provoking and practical workshop session, Vicki Allpress Hill will facilitate a discussion about ways that we can invite, curate, create and distribute digital content in the form of text, images, video and audio in order to share our stories, and those of our audiences, opening the way for conversation as a result.
Vicki will draw on her current work in the area of content marketing with arts organisations here and internationally to present examples of the ways artists and arts organisations are now using digital content to generate audience engagement. As part of this session, you will participate in a creative brainstorming session with your peers to unearth the stories that exist within and around your own organisations.

- 2. Why our brains love images!???? When I This image shows the activity in the brain when it’s in LOVE
- 3. Being in love changes how we feel because of certain chemicals/hormones that are released into the body. Cortisol is one it’s a stress releasing chemical that also riggers being more alert while it is also a pain killer. Other “happy hormones” also released like dopamine, seratonin, oxytonin. Why is this important for you, for us? As a visual artist you’re creating images that can attract, intrigue, inspire, and even irritate! So, you have the ability to create good feelings and ugly feelings too!!!
- 4. “I love infographics so much that I’ve written a blog about them. An infographic is short for ‘information graphic’ and is a visual representation of information data or knowledge. They are the perfect tool for presenting complex information quickly and clearly. How much information do you receive on your average day? For most of us it’s more that our brains can process. As we become increasingly connected through use of mobile and online technology our attention spans are becoming shorter as we try to process increasing amounts of information. As we flit from task pretending ‘multi-task’, the ability to filter information is becoming more and more important. So the task for anyone getting their message to stand out amongst all the background noise is becoming harder than ever. I think infographics are a good way to grab attention and they tend to be shared widely via digital media.”

- 7. Then, as I am preparing all this I realize that I am getting over-loaded.! As was just posted “too much to take in and in a short period of time.” Ya, just too much! Then it occurred to me. Is this the opportunity for just having one image.? And maybe this is the reason for having a an “old style work of art?” as part of your installation. Or should there be two images that you post and display at your “installation site.” Maybe your audience should have the opportunity to make their own art? What about giving something to someone. Do you make your art to sell or if someone really liked it, liked what you made would you give it away? How does it feel to give away your artwork? How does it feel to have someone critique your art work. What do you think of allowing others to change what you’ve started?
