Importance of information system in raising public awareness about domestic v...Masum Hussain
Across the globe, information system tools have helped fuel social movements. Information system has been shown to strengthen social actors’ ability to challenge and change power relations in society, providing platforms for debate, reflection, influencing and mobilizing people. To better understand the potential of information system to engage especially young people in efforts to prevent domestic violence the Partners for Prevention regional project, Engaging Young Men Through Information system for the Prevention of Domestic violence’ which supported information system awareness campaigns designed to raise awareness and motivate young people to take action to prevent domestic violence has revealed practical lessons from three awareness campaigns on the effective use of information system tools for violence protection.

Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on domestic violence
Domestic violence and sexual exploitation, which is already an epidemic across the world, spike when households were placed under the increased strains that come from security, health and money worries, and cramped and confined living conditions. Prior to the pandemic, it was estimated that one in three women will experience violence during their lifetimes, a human rights violation that also bears an economic cost of US$1.5 trillion.[3][4][5] Many of these women are now trapped at home with their abusers and are at increased risk of other forms of violence as overloaded healthcare systems and disrupted justice services struggle to respond.[3][4][5] Women especially essential and informal workers, such as doctors, nurses, and street vendors are at heightened risk of violence as they navigate deserted urban or rural public spaces and transportation services under lockdown.mid the COVID-19 pandemic many countries have reported an increase in domestic violence and intimate partner violence. Domestic violence, sexual violence against women and human trafficking are the three most pervasive problems women rights activists from the Good Shepherd Sisters Congregation encounter in the 72 nations in which they operate. To better understand how women fall prey to this cycle of violence and abuse the New York-based NGO, Good Shepherd International Justice Peace Office (GSIJP) undertook a globe-spanning survey to determine who’s most at risk and how this pattern can be broken. This chapter describes the process by which governmental policy is made, including its phases, the importance of stratification, and the role of influential organizations. The public policy process is important because many social welfare policies are established by government, and decisions by federal and state agencies have a direct bearing on the administration and funding of social welfare programs that assist millions of Americans and employ thousands of human service professionals.

Domestic violence is the obstinate terrorization, physical stabbing, battery, sexual attack, and other abusive behavior as part of an organized model of power and control perpetrated by a close partner against another.
Gender, Mental health and Violence Against Women Ranjani K.Murthy
This presentation looks at the inter-linkages between gender, mental health, violence against women and girls. It argues that it is only recently that International Conventions and Declarations have started looking at three variables together.
The presentation calls for strategies to address the linkages at the policy, protocol development, capacity building (of service providers), programmes (for women's empowerment) and at the level of understanding perpetrators.and engaging with men and boys.
Primary Care and Behavioral Health Integration – Leveraging psychologists’ ro...Michael Changaris
Background and Importance: Violence stands as a significant cause of death in the United States, contributing to various health and mental health issues. The role of psychologists has evolved into an essential component of healthcare.
Despite a decrease over several decades, rates of violence have begun to rise again. However, the prevailing approach often focuses on managing the aftermath of violence rather than tackling its underlying causes. Each community possesses its own distinct profile of factors that either elevate or mitigate the risk of violence.
Primary Care Behavioral Health Integration presents a broadly applicable method for preventing violence, offering a hyper-local approach that targets the specific health needs of individuals, families, and communities. By adapting established evidence-based strategies for healthcare improvement, primary prevention can significantly reduce violence.
Methods and Description: This presentation will provide practical tools and general measures to effectively merge behavioral healthcare with primary care systems, fostering violence reduction at the levels of the community, healthcare facility, and healthcare providers. The implementation of universal precautions for violence reduction will be outlined, along with a structured approach to establish violence reduction advocates and teams. These teams will be equipped to assess the unique local risks, manifestations, and impacts of violence within the community they serve.
Outcomes: Through the incorporation of a 7-factor violence risk reduction strategy within primary care behavioral health, collaborative multidisciplinary teams can effectively diminish instances of interpersonal, individual, and community violence. The application of the "four Ts" model (Training, Triage, Treatment, Team Care) empowers primary care clinicians and integrated healthcare settings to enhance individual clinical outcomes, overall clinic population health, and actively champion community-wide violence reduction.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
Acetabularia Information For Class 9 .docxvaibhavrinwa19
Acetabularia acetabulum is a single-celled green alga that in its vegetative state is morphologically differentiated into a basal rhizoid and an axially elongated stalk, which bears whorls of branching hairs. The single diploid nucleus resides in the rhizoid.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

10. Violence Prevention Objectives
Suggestion
#1. Rename/reframe this from
violence prevention to humanity &
peace literacy education & promotion
“We can’t CREATE what we can’t see.”
“What we focus on, grows”
11. IMAGINE these objectives…
•Increase the number of schools that teach peace and
humanity literacy, as part of the standard curriculum.
•Increase the number of social agencies who
teach/deliver/oversee peace education in their
community.
•Increase the number of places of worship that adopt and
teach peace and humanity literacy.
•Increase the number of undergraduate and graduate
programs in peace and humanity literacy, education &
promotion.
•Develop a peace leadership competencies/matrix that
creates a vision for 21st century leadership in government,
public and private sectors.
12. This really happened/is happening…
A bill, proposing the establishment of a US
Department of Peace. (Dennis Kucinich, 2012)
The Department of Peacebuilding Act of 2017
(multiple sponsors)
Objective: to make “nonviolence a national
organizing principle and gives peace an
institutional platform in our government.”
13. What do you see as some of the
possible unintended effects of
peace/humanity education &
promotion?
Might we be able to:
Reduce rates of homicide?
Rates of violent crimes?
Physical assaults?
Bullying?
(see current HP2020 Objectives)
14. Violence, Health & Humanity
A multi-factorial problem
A long-term problem
Cross-cutting implications
Massive in scale
Where do we even start?
16. Why? How?
“The quality of the results that we create
in any kind of social system is a function
of the quality of awareness, attention, or
consciousness that the participants in the
system operate from.”
Otto Scharmer
17. The quality of awareness,
attention, or consciousness…
As health educators (and any other professional charged
with educating and leading people and groups), we have
a duty to promote awareness of behaviors that are
conducive to health, peace, and productivity
for individuals and communities.
“DO NO HARM”
The New Human Oath
18. A call to action
#1 That we learn and understand how violence and fear
impacts every aspect of health and functioning for
individuals.
#2 That we strive to assess for, plan, deliver,
communicate and evaluate whole health education
programming.
#3 That we work to elevate the awareness, attention, and
consciousness of the populations we serve, by practicing
and embodying the 21st century leadership competencies.
