Jane Eyre And A Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man
The novels Jane Eyre, by Charlotte BrontГ«, and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, by James
Joyce, both exemplify the bildungsroman style, showing the growth of the characters over the
course of each book. As bildungsroman novels, both texts share elements common to the genre,
such as focusing primarily on character thoughts and reactions. They also share traits like periods
of character development being tied to a particular place. However, they differ in other areas like
narration style, conflict, and dialogue. The literary techniques that BrontГ« and Joyce use cause
them to approach the development of self as shown in the characters coming of age, in different
ways, while still being in essence the same type of book, reflecting... Show more content on

Helen s devotion to her beliefs has a significant influence on Jane s development as she retains
strong ties to her principles throughout the book, as shown when she refuses to live with Rochester
as his wife after the revelation of Bertha Mason s continued existence. In Portrait, Christianity is
tied to Stephen Dedalus growth as well, but not in the same manner, as he does not increasingly
embrace religion as he matures. He instead maintains an off and on relationship with the church, as
he is at times wholly devoted to maintaining himself in the manner dictated by the Catholic
leadership and at others is as far as can be from what they give as standards of goodness and purity.
His conflict with establishment versus individuality culminates in Stephen rejecting the church s
teachings in favor of viewing the world through his own eyes, leaving the strictly scripted trappings
of traditional religion behind him, a major event in his development from childhood into adulthood.
Jane Eyre and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Manalso use distinct ways to show the growth of
identity in their characters. One of these is the narrator: in Jane Eyre, the story is told in first
person through Jane s own eyes. By writing in the first person, BrontГ« creates an effect by which
Jane s point of view is the only one that is available in its entirety

Trophy Hunting Essay
Every year, trophy hunters kill tens of thousands of animals, some of them threatened or
endangered, exclusively for the thrill of bringing home a trophy . In order to acquire trophies,
trophy hunters tend to work with outfitters that arrange equipment, supplies, and often trained
guides. This section will further elaborate on the business of trophy hunting.
Working with a Trophy Hunting Outfitter
Trophy hunting outfitters facilitate trophy hunting outings and thereby make such outings
accessible to novices and experts alike, provided clients are willing to pay the often substantial
financial fees. Outfitters are often able to customize each trophy hunting trip to individual needs
and can assist with and advise clients about outing logistics with which they may not be familiar,
including licensing and permitting processes, identifying target species, recommending necessary
equipment, and even suggesting best hunting techniques. Established outfitters can provide an
experienced guide that, in most cases, helps garner a successful kill.
How Much Does it Cost?
Trophy hunting is an extremely expensive sport. Generally, the high price for a trophy hunting
packages includes travel, lodging, meals, on the ground hunting guides, permits, some supplies, and
preparing the kill for taxidermy. Equipment like hunting rifles, shotguns, bows, ammunition,
shipment of the kill, taxidermy, and gratuity are often considered additional costs. Some high
profile hunt costs reported by

Mother In A Refugee Camp And Prayer Before Death
Human suffering is a poignant part of life and takes many forms. Explore this idea, referring to
three poems in detail and to at least three other poems drawn from your wider reading. Human
suffering is feeling pain, distress or hardship in life. The three poems chosen all share the
definition of human suffering. While reading the poems War Photographer, Mother in a Refugee
Camp and Prayer Before birth it clearly shows how the horrors of war are the most magnified of
human suffering. Each poem is reflecting a form of suffering that was created due to the violence
of war. Carol Ann Duffy reflects the life of a war photographer developing his pictures, showing

No Madonna and child could touch her tenderness for a son . Madonna represents Virgin Mary
and child represents Christ. Chinua Achebe is implying that the mother in the poem loves her
son more than Mary loved Jesus Christ; this shows how strong the bond between the mother and
her son is. In the Catholic Church it is believed than Mary watched Jesus die and her prayer did
not help him. This may be the reason why Achebe chose this metaphor to describe what the
mother is going through as her prayer also did not help her son. Throughout the poem the reader
can see that during the course of the death of the son the mother is praying for him to be okay.
Rubbed him down with bare palms. Because palms are usually used to pray, it reminds the
reader that the mother is praying to try and save her son s life. Visual imagery was used to
represent the predictable death of the son in line fifteen: the rust colored hair left on his skull .
The adjective rust colored shows that the son has been dying for a while. Achebe also uses
olfactory imagery to further describe the conditions of the refugee camp. The air was heavy with
odors of diarrhea , this shows the unhygienic conditions of the

Electric Car Advantages And Disadvantages
Coffman, Makena, Paul Bernstein, and Sherilyn Wee. Electric vehicles revisited: a review of
factors that affect adoption. Transport Reviews, vol. 37, no. 1, (2017): 79 93. This article discusses
the factors that has effected electric car adoption. The main claim the author makes is electric car
adoption is declining through high costs, range anxiety, judgement of peers and consumer
characteristics. The first reason is the cost of owning the electric carvehicle. He uses research
studies that have been done to describe how important cost is when considering adopting the
electric car. Costs must be relatively similar to internal combustion cars. The authors analyzed a
survey where consumers mentioned if they have to pay higher prices over time, they expect a
luxury type of vehicle. The second reason the authors give is driving range and charging time is
another factor electric car adoption is declining. To support this reason, researchers have conducted
more surveys specifically in urban areas, to find out how many people are concerned with the
driving range of an electric vehicle. Most respondents mention how the electric car is a major
disadvantage when it comes to driving range. The third reason has to do with consumer
characteristics. To support this reason, they mentioned several studies showing that consumers with
a high education level correlated with the likelihood of purchasing an electric car vehicle. They also
mentioned through different surveys that were conducted, consumers were most concerned with
utility of the car, not the environmental impact electric cars would have. A fourth reason is
consumers are concerned with social norms and the opinions of others when it comes to owning
an electric vehicle. To support this reason, they also use surveys that ask consumers what they
think of owning an electric car vehicle and what they might think of others owning one. They
believe owning an electric car shows someone s prestige. Through surveys, they discovered people
view electric car vehicle owners as intelligent, responsible people who support the environment. The
fifth reason is raising awareness. To support this reason, surveys were given and it showed that
consumers are not told about the

The Importance Of Instant Gratification
Instant gratification plaguing the U.S workplace?
Since the late 20th century the temptation to fulfill Instant gratification has become more prevalent
in society which has put America in a precarious predicament. In Robert Paul s novel The Impulse
Society: America in the Age of Instant Gratificationhe claims America has found itself in an era
where we desire extensive indulgence which has made us culturally narcissistic , blinding us from
the value of investment and inducing a high risk lifestyle. This currently has managed to raise
concerns regarding the problems that serve as a detriment to the labor force. with instant
gratification even shaping a newer generation of workers, Millennials who were born in an age
where they are used to technology and social media giving them immediate feedback and results in
almost every aspect of their life. with one notable problem being that decisions influenced by instant
gratification seem to be leading to higher rates of unemployment seen with machines threatening to
replace laborers (Derek Thompson). Former president Nixon goes into claim how work ethic is
what allows us to be a industrial nation and is what allowed us to change from a poor nation to a
powerful one over the course of two centuries (Address to the Nation on Labor Day,1). with this
claim, it is pivotal to see the that contemporary times have encouraged instant gratification which
has spread egocentrism in the workforce. This has resulted in the

The Nature Of Modern Corporations
In 1868, the 14th amendment to the constitution officially declared those born on U.S soil citizens
of the state, and forbade the states to deny any person the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of
happiness (Berger). This amendment, originally created for newly freed African American slaves
as a means to declare them as equal individuals under the law, has somehow been manipulated as a
tool for large corporations (The Corporation). The Corporation, a 2003 documentary written by
law professor Joel Bakan, examines the pathological character of modern corporations. The
documentary analyzes the behaviors and economic influence of many common North American
corporations such as Nike Inc., Coca Cola Co. and Sears Co and the increasing awareness of the
harm many of these corporations are causing both locally and nationally. The Corporation pleads it
s viewers to recognize lack of social responsibility, and hold modern corporation s accountable for
their actions (Bansal).
Noam Chomsky describes the corporation as designed by law to be only concerned for their
stock holder as opposed to the community it serves (The Corporation). As corporations are legally
considered individuals , it raises the question; What kind of person are they? The Corporation
suggests that corporations can be analyzed as individuals similarly to how a psychiatrist would
analyze and form a diagnosis for his/her patient. Studying specific case histories certain corporations

There is something alluring about traditions. No matter how far away from home one gets, they
will always cherish the manner in which things are done back at home. They retain even the
slightest things that will help them hold on to the past or the way of life that they have left

came in just in time for the commencement of the first piece. I sat and stared at the front at this
lady who was doing a solo performance. I could already tell that the night was only going to pick

Understanding Of Cultural And Contextual Consideration Of...
Throughout the interactive orals, my understanding of cultural and contextual consideration of
Antigone by Sophocles has developed. You must receive further information about the playwright,
the role of women, and the symbols used in Antigone to have a full understanding of the play.
Without the knowledge provided from the interactive orals, the play would not have been
understood as well as it is now.
To understand the importance and meaning of Antigone, you must understand the playwright and
his purpose of writing the play. In his play, Sophocles illustrates the rival claims of the state and
the individual conscience. He does so by using the dramatic story of a young woman, Antigone,
who refuses to follow the law of her uncle, King Creon, on behalf of her brother s burial.
You must also understand the role of a woman during this time period to better understand this play.
Men were superior to women. Women were considered as the property of their husbands. This
meant women were expected to obey any and everything men said without questioning. This helps
readers understand why Antigone is going against her uncle s law to not bury her brother, which
resulted in such a punishment. Without this knowledge, the readers would not understand what
caused all of the conflict that resulted in the play.
To better understand Antigone, you must understand the symbols included in the play. Several very
significant symbols are represented by Antigone and Creon. These symbols are woman

In A Wrinkle in Time Meg, her younger brother Charles Wallace, and her friend Calvin travel

teenagers faced, and their struggles throughout the journey. With the help of Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs.
Who, and Mrs. Which the three teenagers are able to travel through space, arrive at Camazotz and
rescue their father safety, and then arrive back to earth. At the end the family is reunited and

play Meg did not get along with Calvin because he would make fun of Charles Wallace, Meg s
younger brother. Meg was a strong, independent girl who used her faults to help rescue her father.
She was protective over her younger brother, and was determined to help her father. It wasn t until
part way through the play that it became obvious that Meg and Calvin changed their opinions of
each other. Meg, and Calvin began to fall in lovewith each other. Calvin s characteristics changed
throughout the play. At the beginning of the play Calvin was a bully to Charles Wallace, but
throughout their journey he became very protective of both Meg, and Charles Wallace. He wanted

Difference Between Cricket And Cricket
Baseball vs Cricket
To many people think baseball and cricket are very similar, but the rules of hitting, fielding, and
running are completely different. They bother having someone hitting the ball and throwing, but
the traditions of the sports are what separate them completely. The two sports are argued which one
is the greatest of all time. Baseball is more common in America then Cricket. Baseball is known
as the pastime of American. It began in the late 1800 s and is very popular today. There are
many different types of baseball played all over. They go from tee ball to Major league baseball.
Kids basically grew up playing this sport in American. Hitting in baseball starts when the pitcher
toes the rubber. The pitcher throws the ball however he wants, as long as he does not deceive a
runner that is on base with his motion toward home plate. The hitter uses a round bat to hit the
round ball squarely. The batter can hit the ball wherever he wants or can. For the batter to be
called safe he has to reach first before the ball reaches first before he does. Each person who
touches home is considered one run. The hitter can hit the ball and stop at first base to get a
single, stop at second for a double, third for a triple, or home for a home run. A hitter can also get
a home run by hitting the ball over the fence. That is the ways a hitter can score in baseball.
Fielding is completely different in baseball then cricket. There are 9 fielders on the field at once.

How Is Victoria Woodhull Blood Martin Successful
Victoria Claflin Woodhull Blood Martin, Victoria Woodhull for short, started out as a young girl
with very little, who wanted much. She is most well known for being the first woman to ever run
for President of the United States of America. As well as being a Presidential canidate for the 1872
election, she was also a women s rightsleader, a businesswoman, and a medium. She lived a very
controversial life, from being the breadwinner of her family, to being thrown in jail. She was a
radical reformer, she believed in self governing, and that all women have the right to choose what
s best for them, and in some cases, if that meant being a prostitute, then that was perfectly fine.
Victoria was a fire cracker. She became very involved in everything she believed in. In this paper I
intend to summarize breifly the life of Victoria Woodhull, while also discussing her views on self
governing, the impact she made on the women s suffragemovement, and also the obstacles she
encountered through this turmoilous journey.
Victoria Claflin was born September 23, 1838 in Homer, Ohio. She was the daughter of Buck
Claflin and Anna Claflin. In her later years she had painted her childhood as white picket fence,
perfect home, but, in reality it was far from it. Her dad was the town s crook, and her mother was
looked at differently because of her ability to speak with spirits, a talent that Victoria found she
also had. From a young age she possessed great leadership skills. Her nickname was the

For children, the promise of health and successful personal development lies where they, and their
parents, can be meaningfully engaged with one another and with other families for mutual benefit.
A child who is not being stimulated by being played with, and who has very few opportunities to
explore things within their surroundings may fail to link up fully and this may lead to neural
connections and pathways which are required for lateral thinking (Sutton Smith, 1997).
Children are motivated to engage in active play because they perceived it to be enjoyable, to
prevent boredom, to have physical and mental health benefits and to provide freedom from adult
control, rules and structure. However, children s active play can be constrained by a number of
factors, including weather. Some features of the physical environment facilitated children s active
play, including the presence of green spaces and cul de sacs in the neighbourhoods (Brockman and
colleagues, 2011). Physically active play can make unique contributions to children s development
which cannot be obtained from more structured forms of physical activity.

A Happy Marriage By Fawn Weaver
A Happy Marriage:
New York Times Bestselling Author, Fawn Weaver, points out that The greatest marriages are
built on teamwork. A mutual respect, a healthy dose of admiration, and a never ending portion of
love and grace (Weaver). The quote helps give examples on what defines a happy marriage.
According to the Oxford Dictionary, the word happy is defined as feeling or showing pleasure or
contentment and the word marriage is defined in this context as The legally or formally recognized
union of a man and a woman (or, in some jurisdictions, two people of the same sex) as partners in
a relationship. The CDC s National Center for Health Statistics reports that as of 2011 in the
U.S. there were 2,118,000 marriages, with a marriage rate at 6.8 per 1,000 total population and
divorce rates at 3.6 per 1,000 population. (CDC) But what actually makes a happy marriage? In
order for a marriage to be a happy one, honesty, patience, communication, love, and respect must
be present from both parties. Out of these criteria, love and respect are the two most important
aspects to happiness in a marriage. All other criteria depend on those two very basic principles
being met first. Without love and respect in a union, none of the other attributes of a happy
marriage will even be able to exist. Think of marriage much like a house, with love being the
foundation, respect being the supporting frame, patience and honesty being the windows and walls,
and communication as the roof. Each

John Hart Sacrifice
I think the 3 major signers who made the biggest sacrifice are, John Hart, Richard Stockton and
Francis Lewis. I uprightly believe that John Hart had the worst of all. This man has been
through it all, he tried returning home to see his wife who lay on her death bed to find soldiers
ruining his farm and wrecking his homestead. He had to sleep in caves and woods and was
hunted across the countryside. When in the end embeded by hardship he managed to sneak home
to find he wife already buried and his 13 children removed from his home, he never saw them
again and died in 1779 without ever finding his family. Richard Stockton, Judge. He rushed back to
his home in effort to evacuate his wife and children. The family had found a place to stay with

Critical Role In Crime Statistics
Over centuries there has been a great deal of discussion concerning problems that relate to
criminals, crime, and the in succession of justice in the United States. The desire to have factual
information has been a concern for a long time. According to Hurst (2013:277), the Federal Bureau
of Investigation (FBI) has been keeping track of all crimes in the United States. Crimerates are
categorized and stored in a crime index. The FBI crime Index stores every property and violent
crime report in the world. By utilizing standard definitions and procedures established by national
programs the information is placed in the form of a statistical value to inform citizens of crime
rating in their communities. Criminal statistics has become a... Show more content on

However, they also have their limitations and don t procure statistics useful for local crime
prevention, often ignore offenses against children and do not count offenders brought before the
criminal justice system. Problems also lie in interpreting data that is supposed to provide prolific
information. Statistics can be used to make the government look good, to see how successful a
police force is and used by the media to create moral panics. One issue with characterizing the
current crime statistics is the perception about racial groups that affect individuals fears and views
of crime ratings.
Another critical problem that plays a role in crime statistics is racial stereotyping. Hurst
(2013:277) suggests that racial stereotyping and fear may affect crime reports which lead to
racial profiling. Consequently, cities have attendance to provide crime rates solely based on
misleading bias information. A big issue when it comes down to stereotyping is that people tend
to believe that in a lot of black areas, the crime rate is affected by high levels of crime. In studying
the social consequence of inequality, evidence has shown that perception is a reality when it comes
to socio economic

Brief Explanation of the Basic Framework of the Principal...
PRELIMINARIES
This section expands a brief explanation of the basic frame work of the principal component
analysis and fuzzy logic, along with some of the key basic concepts.
A. The principal component analysis (PCA)
The Principal component analysis (PCA) is an essential technique in data compression and feature
reduction [13] and it is a statistical technique applied to reduce a set of correlated variables to
smaller uncorrelated variables to each other. PCA is considered as special transformation which
produces the principal components (PCs) Known as eigenvectors. PCs are sorted decreasing i.e. the
first prin cipal component (PC

to reduce redundancy and uncertainty. So this paper used the PCA as the preprocessing step on the

B. Fuzzy logic
Zadeh [15] introduced the concept of fuzzy logic to present vagueness in linguistics, and to
implement and express human knowledge and inference capability in a natural way. The fuzzy
logic starts with the concept of fuzzy sets which is defined as a set without a crisp. It is clearly
defined boundary and can contain elements with only a partial degree of member ship. The main
power of fuzzy logic image processing is in the middle step (membership function) [16] A
membership function defines how each value in the input space is mapped to a membership
value (or degree of membership) between the range of 0 and 1. LetXbe the input space andxbe a
generic element ofX. A classical set Ais defined as a collection of elements or objectsx2X, such that
each xcan either belong or not belong to the setA, AvX.

The War On The Islamic State Of Iraq And Syria Essay
In January 11, 2002, Guantanamo Bay (Gitmo) was opened as a prison camp at the Naval
Military Base in Cuba to detain terrorist suspects during the Bush Administration. Since
President Obama took office in 2008, continued operations of the prison camp has been largely
debated between both the Obama Administration and Congress ( Barrack ). Currently, there are
91 remaining detainees housed at Gitmo. President Obama, in his 2016 State of the Union
address, stated that he will continue to work towards closing the prison because, ...it s
expensive, unnecessary, and serves as a recruitment tool for American enemies. Members of
Congress, on the other hand, rejected President Obama s plan to close the facility because his
plan includes integrating a number of high risk detainees into our U.S. Federal prisons which
threatens the safety of the American people. The war on the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria
(ISIS) has developed over the last several years while our military base has been reduced ( 2014
Trending ). Closing the prison camp will only send a message to our enemies that the U.S. is,
once again, retracting efforts to end the war. Gitmo should remain open as long as the war on
ISIS exists and it should continue to serve as a prison camp to terrorist groups but, the prison
should be reformed from its reputation of torturing detainees and serve primarily as a prison to
house those who are a threat to our United Sates citizens. As of now, the plan to transfer the 91

The Mystery Of Capital By Hernando De Soto
Efficient institutions are essential factors that enhance the economic growth, especially real estate
is an important sector of the overall economic growth. However, real estate investment and
development various from countries to countries. For example, there is a huge difference between
real estate development in the west and elsewhere. In this paper, I will discuss about Hernando de

Women s Clothing Advertisements Analysis
A) The four advertisements I chose are all women s clothing. The first pattern I noticed in the
advertisements was that all four of them showcased just one woman by herself and the second
pattern was that each woman had quite a bit of skin showing. In each of them they were doing
something slightly different though. In the Bottega Veneta advertisement the woman is posing
with her arm up and looking off at something out of the shot and her legs seem to be never
ending and completely revealed. In the Ann Taylor advertisement the model is Kate Hudson and
she is sitting down on a chair with her legs crossed and is leaning a bit forward and resting her
head on her arm. The slit of her dress goes up very high and reveals most of her legs and a
slightly deep cut around her neck revealing part of her chest as well as all of her right arm. Also
this advertisement is specifically for the new little black dress line. In the Express advertisement
girl seems to be walking with her hand on her neck while simultaneously swirling the bottom of
her dress around from walking. Her arm is uncovered and you see a good amount of her legs and
the movement of the dress draws your eyes to that. In the Levi s advertisement the woman is
facing away from the camera so we see her from behind. She is pulling up her Levi s shorts,
which draws the eyes to her bottom half. B) I think the idea that the producers of these images
want us to get is that if we buy their clothes we will be pretty, thin women

This is really exemplified in one character, Bonaparte. Bonaparte is very young and very naive,
not even knowing why that the Englishmen were his prisoners until being told so. And when it
comes to the executions, he does not act the way Donovan does. For instance, when Donovan is
about to shoot Hawkin, Bonaparte begins to pray and closes his eyes so as not to see his friend
die (1066). He doesn t do this because the death disgusts him, he does it because he knows that it
should not be happening. Hawken is a good man in his eyes and does not deserve to be
slaughtered like an animal. Not to mention the shot did not fully kill Hawkin. He is seen
twitching on the ground by Belcher, who would not let the killing proceed until he was put out of
his misery. Bonaparte was the one to do this, leaning down and shooting him once more out of
mercy. While doing this, he thinks, By this time I didn t seem to know what I was doing (1067).
This shows his vulnerability and questioning of whether or not what he is doing is the right thing
to do. His moral compass is telling him that taking these orders blindly may not be what is right for
him. After the executions, both Bonaparte and Noble have immense trouble coping with what they
have seen and done. The scene keeps playing in their minds, leaving scars of what happened and

According to Chronicles magazine, Woolf was undeniably a brilliant writer. Woolf s work of Mrs.

The final narrative deals with Clarissa Vaughn. Clarissa lives in a Manhattan apartment in the
1990s with her 19 year old daughter and lesbian lover. She is overwhelmed with planning a party
for a local poet whom she is the publisher. The local poet, Richard, once had a relationship with
Clarissa, but is now a dying homosexual with AIDS.
When I look up the meaning of metaphors in Webster it says a figure of speech in which a work for
one idea or thing is used in place of another to suggest a likeness between them. The Hours by
Michael Cunningham is enriched with many complex metaphors. While intertwining three different
woman s lives, Cunningham uses a wide range of metaphors to help mean something in one story
and tie into the next woman s story. Using deconstructive interpretation to investigate these
strategically placed metaphors can be difficult and exciting, yet challenging.
The flow of the novel starts as Woolf finds the opening line of her new novel: Mrs. Dalloway
decided she would buy the flowers herself. The flowers would proof an important metaphor in
the book. This thought of buying the flowers herself would link Woolf and Clarissa. Clarissa
states the same words to her lover in preparing for Richard s party. And yet the flowers would
reappear in Laura Browns life as her husband buys flowers for his own birthday. Flowers that
normally represent life and color ironically represent sadness and loneliness in this novel.

Persuasive Paper On Self Driving Cars
PERSUASIVE PAPER ON SELF DRIVING CARS
By Ricardo Villar
Introduction
As technology progresses, so do the needs and wants of people, societies, and governments. Since
the first car was created in 1885 by Karl Benz, there have been significant improvements over time
such as the brake, radio, air conditioning, seat belt, and air bag. In today s world, the use of self
driving cars has progressed from a dream into a reality. Companies like BMW and Tesla have
already implemented the self driving feature into their cars. The use of self driving cars will
continue to become more popular and will eventually become an essential part of society.
The purpose of this persuasive paper is to analyze the advantages, disadvantages and future of self
driving cars and to invite the audience to support the self driving car industry by voicing their
public opinion. Specifically, the following questions will be answered:
1.What are the advantages of self driving cars?
2.What are the disadvantages of self driving cars?
3.What is the future of self driving cars?
The findings of this persuasive paper will come mostly from periodical publications published in
the last two year.
Advantages of Self Driving Cars
With the world s roads becoming more fast paced and dangerous, there is hope at the end of the
tunnel for drives, passengers, and civilians. Fortunately, we live in a time in which technology
makes dreams become a reality. The idea of self driving cars first started in the 1920s and has been
slowly progressing until now.
Current Advantages According to the U.S. Department of Transportation (2016), The Nation lost
35,092 people in crashes on U.S. roadways during 2015, an increase from 32,744 in 2014. Self
driving cars would eliminate driver error, which is primarily caused by alcohol, drugs, and
aggressive driving (Naughton, 2016). Other forms of driver error include texting and driving, not
looking in your blind spot, running a red light and not figuring out who has the right of way.
Many accidents are also caused by the driver s inattentiveness or slow reaction time. Many cars
with brands like Tesla, BMW and Audi already have self driving assistance. This feature allows
cars to maintain speed making it a more emissive

Leadership Vs. Roman s Legacy
I have had 20 leaders during in my years in the Army. Some good and some bad, but none have

decided that CSM Gregory Roman is my leader of influence. If there were more leaders like
CSM Roman, then the Army as we know it would be in a much better position. My first
interaction with CSM Roman was very brief, not to mention very embarrassing. I was attending
a NCO of the Quarter board just before he took over responsibility of my battalion. I wanted to
leave a lasting impression on him, but that was not the way I wanted. I wanted him to see a hard
working Staff Sergeant who was confident and knowledgeable. Needless to say, I failed
miserably. The look on his face when I walked out of that room is an image that I ll never forget.
A few days passed before our next encounter. He pulled me aside, spoke to me about my
performance, and told me I know you can do better than that . Here is a man who has only seen
me once and has well over 100 NCOs in his battalion, yet remembered my face after only being in

Why I Am A Bad Writer
From the time I was in about fourth or fifth grade I began to dislike certain subjects in school. I
loathed everything about writing assignments. I didn t write at home before that the thought of
writing for myself never really occurred to me. I hated the deadlines the length requirements and I
just tried to get them done and had no intention of writingwell because I told myself I was a bad
writer. I have never really known whether or not I truly am a bad writer. I continued these habits of
just writing something down to get a decent gradeall throughout school. I usually got an okay
grade because I followed the prompt closely and did the minimum amount of work for the paper.
I didn t start the assignments until either the night before it was due. As I got older I would type
the paper on my phone in school that day then print it off in the library moments before class. I
continued writing in that awful ritual of complacency until the end of 11th grade. We had to
write a paper on The Great Gatsby a book that I never read. I read couple of notes on the internet
and then wrote the paper and never reread it or edited it all. I did my usual routine and followed the
prompt and turned my paper in. When I got my paper back I was shocked to find out I didn t get
even a half decent grade I was given a zero. I went to my teacher after class to speak with him
about the grade and he told me I got the grade that I deserved. He said I was lazy and never tried to

Understanding Vigilante Justice
The use of vigilante justice is illegal but, at times it can be understood. Vigilante justice is
considered legal when dealing with it as self defense.. The term vigilante justice means someone
has gone outside the law to carry out a punishment for a crime. In other words vigilante justice
means that a citizen has taken justice into their own hands. One of the defining elements of
vigilantism is a response that involves violence that exceeds the legitimate use of force in self
defense. These people who take justice into their own hands are called a vigilante.
Our legal system does not permit vigilante justice (Grisham 137). Self defense, though, is the
only type of vigilante justice that is legal because it is one of the rights written in the constitution.
It is considered legal because self defense is one of the rights given to American citizens in the
Constitution. Our legal system also cannot condone men who take the law into their own hands .
This means that the government cannot over look a case of vigilante justice because it will cause
problems in our society. The legal system also cannot over look it because the society cannot have
people just running around with guns shooting other people who did them wrong. The world
would be chaos if that was allowed to happen because everyone would be taking justice into their
own hands because they are unhappy with the outcome of the case.
Most of the time the act of vigilante justice is taken because the legal system isn t

According to Webster s Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary, civilization is a relatively high level of
cultural and technological development, specifically the stage of cultural development at which

It is taken from the fossils of these people that language may well have began in this form of human

when the Homo erectus began evolving into the Homo sapien. Some say it was in 28,000 BCE

workplace bullyinghas rapidly increased internationally including Australia. Since its first study in
the UK, following studies agree on the fact that workplace bullying has become a hazard

It found that 6.8 percent of Australian workers have been bullied at work six months prior to being

Also, the news article on the human cost of workplace bullying claimed that such conditions were
costing Australian economy between 6 to 36billion dollars a year. The major reasons pinpointed
were the reduced productivity, increase in number of absenteeism and turnover. In addition to its
impact on economy, workplace bullying has a devastating effect on the individual employees.
Bullying can bring significant damage to the victim s wellbeing, which in extreme cases leads to
suicide. Regarding a research conducted by Toni Mellington, an Australian health psychologist,
there is a direct negative relationship between bullying and health. (Gregor 2015) Employees who
claimed to have been bullied reported poorer health, with an increase in severity of bullying
increasing the chance of poorer health. The finding also suggested that the experience of merely
witnessing bullying can also have a negative impact on one s health, backing up the fact that
bullying affects not only the individual but the entire firm.
The eye catching studies above urge a prompt reaction towards resolving workplace bullying.
Currently everyone at workplace is potentially at the risk of being bullied. Knowing the prevalence

A Byzantine Fault
Introduction
Faults occur in every system which may halt the systems functionality. A fault that presents
different symptoms to different observers is called a Byzantine fault. These Byzantine faults form
the reason for the loss of a system service and are called Byzantine failures. A Byzantine failure
may occur due to arbitrary problems like corruption in their local state, production of incorrect
outputs or by processing requests incorrectly instead of the general situations like crashing or
stopping. The ability of a system to defend itself from Byzantine failures is called Byzantine fault
tolerance which is a sub field of fault tolerance.
A reliable computer system is a system that overcomes failures, one such failure is the Byzantine
Generals problem. This problem is rare and generally overlooked by the people who are unfamiliar
with the problem. It brings down the entire network if not tackled properly. This problem is most
common in distributed dependable network. This paper aims at explaining the Byzantine Generals

My motivation to write this topic comes from the wide usage of distributed systems in various
fields like particle physics, bioinformatics, weather, climate, visualization and graphics, economics
and finance etc., and the need to protect such systems. Failure of distributed systems leads to huge
loss of resources, time and money. Thus protecting from these kinds of failure is a challenging task

Analyzing The Film Story Of The Ark In PEI
In a world that is focused on consumption, living sustainably means living against the grain. Our
final lecture reflection studied different lifestyles that oppose traditional norms and embrace
sustainability. Minimalism is a documentary on people who defy the idea that possessions bring
happiness and choose to live with as little as possible. Toke Miller emphasises the importance of
changing our ways, to see the world with kindness, love, and consciousness. Finally, Steve
Mannell shares the story of the Ark in PEI which promotes a self sufficient alternative to modern
housing. By examining and changing the ways that we live our lives we can approach a way to
live sustainably. Minimalism, a documentary directed by Matt D Avella, explores... Show more

Combining his two disciplines, Steve explains the PEI Ark. The Ark was built in the 1970 s and
strived to change the way people thought about and interacted with technology and the
environment. It is a greenhouse home which re invents modern housing norms. Committed to
living lightly on the earth, the Arc is self sufficient as it is designed to harvest and conserve
energy through the use of solar and wind power. The house desires not have have segregated
systems of production, but many systems which all work together. The greenhouse allows
residents to simply go and harvest foods instead of having to refrigerate and buy foods.
Residents are able to grow foods all year long due to the heat conserving design which can store
heat for up to six months that warms the house and allows food to grow. The house also avoids
using pesticides through integrated pest management! Plant clippings were thrown into an algae
tank which feeds fish that are then sold or eaten. The algae tank also helped with heating the
house, as algae is really good at absorbing and radiating heat. The Ark also had other features
such as a barn and self composting toilets and in total cost only $350 000 in 1975 which converts
to $130 per square foot today (Mannell, S., 2017, March, 30)! I found this lecture to be very
interesting, as I always worry about how my living situation impacts my level of sustainability. In
my home we have two fridges and a large freezer and they use up too much energy. My family
could learn more on how to live lightly on the earth from the Arc, which allows residents to
make dinner from the food in their greenhouse and the fish in their pond, and their food waste
can be thrown into their self composting toilets. If we learned to grow some of our own food,
and to store less in our fridges, we could waste less energy! This reminds of Ruth Forsdyke s
lecture where she spoke about the

Social Issues On Abortion
Abortion is a current social problem that has affected the lives of many women, their friends, and
their families. Numerous policies have been implemented in regards to the legality of abortion, the
timeframe in which abortions can occur, required services prior to receiving an abortion, the
funding sources for abortion, and requirements for facilities providing abortion services. These
policies may vary from state to state, but are similar in that they attempt to dissuade a woman
from aborting and often make getting an abortion more difficult. While abortion and abortion
policy tends to be a fairly common topic during elections, it seems to remain a taboo topic for
many people to talk about openly. Women who have chosen to abort a child often will not admit
it or discuss it due to the shame, guilt, and fear of judgment. Early research suggested very few
negative side effects for women following an abortion. However, current research now shows
links between mental health diagnoses, substance abuse disorders, suicide, and abortion. There
are many policies in place in regards to services before and during an abortion, but what about
after? An analysis of policies throughout the United States indicates there are very few, if any,
policies in place to assist post abortive women with mental health or substance abuse services.
Policies and requirements for post abortive women need to be developed and implemented to help
support these women and aid in this social welfare

  • 2. Jane Eyre And A Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man The novels Jane Eyre, by Charlotte BrontГ«, and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, by James Joyce, both exemplify the bildungsroman style, showing the growth of the characters over the course of each book. As bildungsroman novels, both texts share elements common to the genre, such as focusing primarily on character thoughts and reactions. They also share traits like periods of character development being tied to a particular place. However, they differ in other areas like narration style, conflict, and dialogue. The literary techniques that BrontГ« and Joyce use cause them to approach the development of self as shown in the characters coming of age, in different ways, while still being in essence the same type of book, reflecting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Helen s devotion to her beliefs has a significant influence on Jane s development as she retains strong ties to her principles throughout the book, as shown when she refuses to live with Rochester as his wife after the revelation of Bertha Mason s continued existence. In Portrait, Christianity is tied to Stephen Dedalus growth as well, but not in the same manner, as he does not increasingly embrace religion as he matures. He instead maintains an off and on relationship with the church, as he is at times wholly devoted to maintaining himself in the manner dictated by the Catholic leadership and at others is as far as can be from what they give as standards of goodness and purity. His conflict with establishment versus individuality culminates in Stephen rejecting the church s teachings in favor of viewing the world through his own eyes, leaving the strictly scripted trappings of traditional religion behind him, a major event in his development from childhood into adulthood. Jane Eyre and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Manalso use distinct ways to show the growth of identity in their characters. One of these is the narrator: in Jane Eyre, the story is told in first person through Jane s own eyes. By writing in the first person, BrontГ« creates an effect by which Jane s point of view is the only one that is available in its entirety ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Trophy Hunting Essay Every year, trophy hunters kill tens of thousands of animals, some of them threatened or endangered, exclusively for the thrill of bringing home a trophy . In order to acquire trophies, trophy hunters tend to work with outfitters that arrange equipment, supplies, and often trained guides. This section will further elaborate on the business of trophy hunting. Working with a Trophy Hunting Outfitter Trophy hunting outfitters facilitate trophy hunting outings and thereby make such outings accessible to novices and experts alike, provided clients are willing to pay the often substantial financial fees. Outfitters are often able to customize each trophy hunting trip to individual needs and can assist with and advise clients about outing logistics with which they may not be familiar, including licensing and permitting processes, identifying target species, recommending necessary equipment, and even suggesting best hunting techniques. Established outfitters can provide an experienced guide that, in most cases, helps garner a successful kill. How Much Does it Cost? Trophy hunting is an extremely expensive sport. Generally, the high price for a trophy hunting packages includes travel, lodging, meals, on the ground hunting guides, permits, some supplies, and preparing the kill for taxidermy. Equipment like hunting rifles, shotguns, bows, ammunition, shipment of the kill, taxidermy, and gratuity are often considered additional costs. Some high profile hunt costs reported by ... While reading the poems War Photographer, Mother in a Refugee Camp and Prayer Before birth it clearly shows how the horrors of war are the most magnified of human suffering. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No Madonna and child could touch her tenderness for a son . Madonna represents Virgin Mary and child represents Christ. Chinua Achebe is implying that the mother in the poem loves her son more than Mary loved Jesus Christ; this shows how strong the bond between the mother and her son is. In the Catholic Church it is believed than Mary watched Jesus die and her prayer did not help him. This may be the reason why Achebe chose this metaphor to describe what the mother is going through as her prayer also did not help her son. Throughout the poem the reader can see that during the course of the death of the son the mother is praying for him to be okay. Rubbed him down with bare palms. Because palms are usually used to pray, it reminds the reader that the mother is praying to try and save her son s life. Visual imagery was used to represent the predictable death of the son in line fifteen: the rust colored hair left on his skull . The adjective rust colored shows that the son has been dying for a while. Achebe also uses olfactory imagery to further describe the conditions of the refugee camp. The air was heavy with odors of diarrhea , this shows the unhygienic conditions of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Electric Car Advantages And Disadvantages Coffman, Makena, Paul Bernstein, and Sherilyn Wee. Electric vehicles revisited: a review of factors that affect adoption. Transport Reviews, vol. 37, no. 1, (2017): 79 93. This article discusses the factors that has effected electric car adoption. The main claim the author makes is electric car adoption is declining through high costs, range anxiety, judgement of peers and consumer characteristics. The first reason is the cost of owning the electric carvehicle. He uses research studies that have been done to describe how important cost is when considering adopting the electric car. Costs must be relatively similar to internal combustion cars. The authors analyzed a survey where consumers mentioned if they have to pay higher prices over time, they expect a luxury type of vehicle. The second reason the authors give is driving range and charging time is another factor electric car adoption is declining. To support this reason, researchers have conducted more surveys specifically in urban areas, to find out how many people are concerned with the driving range of an electric vehicle. Most respondents mention how the electric car is a major disadvantage when it comes to driving range. The third reason has to do with consumer characteristics. To support this reason, they mentioned several studies showing that consumers with a high education level correlated with the likelihood of purchasing an electric car vehicle. They also mentioned through different surveys that were conducted, consumers were most concerned with utility of the car, not the environmental impact electric cars would have. A fourth reason is consumers are concerned with social norms and the opinions of others when it comes to owning an electric vehicle. To support this reason, they also use surveys that ask consumers what they think of owning an electric car vehicle and what they might think of others owning one. They believe owning an electric car shows someone s prestige. Through surveys, they discovered people view electric car vehicle owners as intelligent, responsible people who support the environment. The fifth reason is raising awareness. To support this reason, surveys were given and it showed that consumers are not told about the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since the late 20th century the temptation to fulfill Instant gratification has become more prevalent in society which has put America in a precarious predicament. The Nature Of Modern Corporations In 1868, the 14th amendment to the constitution officially declared those born on U.S soil citizens of the state, and forbade the states to deny any person the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (Berger). This amendment, originally created for newly freed African American slaves as a means to declare them as equal individuals under the law, has somehow been manipulated as a tool for large corporations (The Corporation). The Corporation, a 2003 documentary written by law professor Joel Bakan, examines the pathological character of modern corporations. The documentary analyzes the behaviors and economic influence of many common North American corporations such as Nike Inc., Coca Cola Co. and Sears Co and the increasing awareness of the harm many of these corporations are causing both locally and nationally. The Corporation pleads it s viewers to recognize lack of social responsibility, and hold modern corporation s accountable for their actions (Bansal). Noam Chomsky describes the corporation as designed by law to be only concerned for their stock holder as opposed to the community it serves (The Corporation). Without the knowledge provided from the interactive orals, the play would not have been understood as well as it is now. To understand the importance and meaning of Antigone, you must understand the playwright and his purpose of writing the play. In his play, Sophocles illustrates the rival claims of the state and the individual conscience. He does so by using the dramatic story of a young woman, Antigone, who refuses to follow the law of her uncle, King Creon, on behalf of her brother s burial. You must also understand the role of a woman during this time period to better understand this play. Men were superior to women. Women were considered as the property of their husbands. This meant women were expected to obey any and everything men said without questioning. This helps readers understand why Antigone is going against her uncle s law to not bury her brother, which resulted in such a punishment. Without this knowledge, the readers would not understand what caused all of the conflict that resulted in the play. They bother having someone hitting the ball and throwing, but the traditions of the sports are what separate them completely. The two sports are argued which one is the greatest of all time. Baseball is more common in America then Cricket. Baseball is known as the pastime of American. It began in the late 1800 s and is very popular today. There are many different types of baseball played all over. They go from tee ball to Major league baseball. Kids basically grew up playing this sport in American. Hitting in baseball starts when the pitcher toes the rubber. The pitcher throws the ball however he wants, as long as he does not deceive a runner that is on base with his motion toward home plate. The hitter uses a round bat to hit the round ball squarely. The batter can hit the ball wherever he wants or can. For the batter to be called safe he has to reach first before the ball reaches first before he does. Each person who touches home is considered one run. The hitter can hit the ball and stop at first base to get a single, stop at second for a double, third for a triple, or home for a home run. A hitter can also get a home run by hitting the ball over the fence. That is the ways a hitter can score in baseball. Fielding is completely different in baseball then cricket. A mutual respect, a healthy dose of admiration, and a never ending portion of love and grace (Weaver). The quote helps give examples on what defines a happy marriage. According to the Oxford Dictionary, the word happy is defined as feeling or showing pleasure or contentment and the word marriage is defined in this context as The legally or formally recognized union of a man and a woman (or, in some jurisdictions, two people of the same sex) as partners in a relationship. The CDC s National Center for Health Statistics reports that as of 2011 in the U.S. there were 2,118,000 marriages, with a marriage rate at 6.8 per 1,000 total population and divorce rates at 3.6 per 1,000 population. (CDC) But what actually makes a happy marriage? In order for a marriage to be a happy one, honesty, patience, communication, love, and respect must be present from both parties. Out of these criteria, love and respect are the two most important aspects to happiness in a marriage. All other criteria depend on those two very basic principles being met first. Without love and respect in a union, none of the other attributes of a happy marriage will even be able to exist. The Mystery Of Capital By Hernando De Soto Efficient institutions are essential factors that enhance the economic growth, especially real estate is an important sector of the overall economic growth. However, real estate investment and development various from countries to countries. For example, there is a huge difference between real estate development in the west and elsewhere. In this paper, I will discuss about Hernando de Soto s, the author of The Mystery of Capital, arguments regarding real estatedevelopment in the West and elsewhere. Also, I will discuss four key points from this book regarding the importance of propertyrights. Lastly, I agree with de Soto s main argument that capital is the main forces that drives productivities, and public policies promotes legal economic activities and settlements. According to Soto, property ownershipis essential in a capitalism where it create economic growth. 1.What is the difference between development in the West and elsewhere? First, I will discuss the difference between development in the West and elsewhere. • 31. Women s Clothing Advertisements Analysis A) The four advertisements I chose are all women s clothing. The first pattern I noticed in the advertisements was that all four of them showcased just one woman by herself and the second pattern was that each woman had quite a bit of skin showing. In each of them they were doing something slightly different though. In the Bottega Veneta advertisement the woman is posing with her arm up and looking off at something out of the shot and her legs seem to be never ending and completely revealed. In the Ann Taylor advertisement the model is Kate Hudson and she is sitting down on a chair with her legs crossed and is leaning a bit forward and resting her head on her arm. The slit of her dress goes up very high and reveals most of her legs and a slightly deep cut around her neck revealing part of her chest as well as all of her right arm. Also this advertisement is specifically for the new little black dress line. In the Express advertisement girl seems to be walking with her hand on her neck while simultaneously swirling the bottom of her dress around from walking. Her arm is uncovered and you see a good amount of her legs and the movement of the dress draws your eyes to that. In the Levi s advertisement the woman is facing away from the camera so we see her from behind. She is pulling up her Levi s shorts, which draws the eyes to her bottom half. B) I think the idea that the producers of these images want us to get is that if we buy their clothes we will be pretty, thin women ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Guests Of The Nation Duty War requires a lot out of soldiers. They give themselves wholly to their country, including their mind, body, and soul. However, one thing that seems to vary among these men is their sense of duty. In Frank O Connor s Guests of the Nation, three Irish soldiers form an unlikely friendship with their British prisoners of war. However, things take a turn when they are given orders to execute their new found friends. When the order reaches the men, the three of them interpret their new duty in various ways. Through the orders of execution, Guests of the Nation emphasizes how people react to a sense of duty in varied ways from embracing it with pride, carrying out their duty with confusion and regret, and disobeying by limited participation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is really exemplified in one character, Bonaparte. Bonaparte is very young and very naive, not even knowing why that the Englishmen were his prisoners until being told so. And when it comes to the executions, he does not act the way Donovan does. For instance, when Donovan is about to shoot Hawkin, Bonaparte begins to pray and closes his eyes so as not to see his friend die (1066). He doesn t do this because the death disgusts him, he does it because he knows that it should not be happening. Hawken is a good man in his eyes and does not deserve to be slaughtered like an animal. Not to mention the shot did not fully kill Hawkin. He is seen twitching on the ground by Belcher, who would not let the killing proceed until he was put out of his misery. Bonaparte was the one to do this, leaning down and shooting him once more out of mercy. While doing this, he thinks, By this time I didn t seem to know what I was doing (1067). This shows his vulnerability and questioning of whether or not what he is doing is the right thing to do. His moral compass is telling him that taking these orders blindly may not be what is right for him. After the executions, both Bonaparte and Noble have immense trouble coping with what they have seen and done. The scene keeps playing in their minds, leaving scars of what happened and ... Parallel Experiences of Three Troubled Women in Cunningham s, The Hours According to Chronicles magazine, Woolf was undeniably a brilliant writer. Woolf s work of Mrs. Dalloway was read by fifteen year old Michael Cunningham in order to impress an older girl in school. As he stated, the book really knocked me out. Once older, Cunninghamwanted to write about Mrs. Dalloway, but thought not too many people would want to read a book about reading a book. He then thought he might want to read a book about reading the right book. Hence, The Hours was written. Cunningham would incorporate Mrs. Dalloway into a book about reading a book. Clarissa lives in a Manhattan apartment in the 1990s with her 19 year old daughter and lesbian lover. She is overwhelmed with planning a party for a local poet whom she is the publisher. The local poet, Richard, once had a relationship with Clarissa, but is now a dying homosexual with AIDS. When I look up the meaning of metaphors in Webster it says a figure of speech in which a work for one idea or thing is used in place of another to suggest a likeness between them. The Hours by Michael Cunningham is enriched with many complex metaphors. While intertwining three different woman s lives, Cunningham uses a wide range of metaphors to help mean something in one story and tie into the next woman s story. Using deconstructive interpretation to investigate these strategically placed metaphors can be difficult and exciting, yet challenging. The flow of the novel starts as Woolf finds the opening line of her new novel: Mrs. Dalloway decided she would buy the flowers herself. The flowers would proof an important metaphor in the book. This thought of buying the flowers herself would link Woolf and Clarissa. Clarissa states the same words to her lover in preparing for Richard s party. And yet the flowers would reappear in Laura Browns life as her husband buys flowers for his own birthday. Flowers that normally represent life and color ironically represent sadness and loneliness in this novel. Death hangs over this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Persuasive Paper On Self Driving Cars PERSUASIVE PAPER ON SELF DRIVING CARS By Ricardo Villar Introduction As technology progresses, so do the needs and wants of people, societies, and governments. Since the first car was created in 1885 by Karl Benz, there have been significant improvements over time such as the brake, radio, air conditioning, seat belt, and air bag. In today s world, the use of self driving cars has progressed from a dream into a reality. Companies like BMW and Tesla have already implemented the self driving feature into their cars. The use of self driving cars will continue to become more popular and will eventually become an essential part of society. The purpose of this persuasive paper is to analyze the advantages, disadvantages and future of self driving cars and to invite the audience to support the self driving car industry by voicing their public opinion. Specifically, the following questions will be answered: 1.What are the advantages of self driving cars? 2.What are the disadvantages of self driving cars? 3.What is the future of self driving cars? The findings of this persuasive paper will come mostly from periodical publications published in the last two year. Advantages of Self Driving Cars With the world s roads becoming more fast paced and dangerous, there is hope at the end of the tunnel for drives, passengers, and civilians. Fortunately, we live in a time in which technology makes dreams become a reality. The idea of self driving cars first started in the 1920s and has been slowly progressing until now. Current Advantages According to the U.S. Department of Transportation (2016), The Nation lost 35,092 people in crashes on U.S. roadways during 2015, an increase from 32,744 in 2014. Self driving cars would eliminate driver error, which is primarily caused by alcohol, drugs, and aggressive driving (Naughton, 2016). Other forms of driver error include texting and driving, not looking in your blind spot, running a red light and not figuring out who has the right of way. Many accidents are also caused by the driver s inattentiveness or slow reaction time. Many cars with brands like Tesla, BMW and Audi already have self driving assistance. • 35. Leadership Vs. Roman s Legacy I have had 20 leaders during in my years in the Army. Some good and some bad, but none have left a lasting legacy that I would want to emulate. None until spring 2014, when CSM Roman took over as my Battalion Command Sergeant Major and changed my outlook on what a true expert and professional is supposed to exemplify. Due to my interaction with him, I have decided that CSM Gregory Roman is my leader of influence. If there were more leaders like CSM Roman, then the Army as we know it would be in a much better position. My first interaction with CSM Roman was very brief, not to mention very embarrassing. I was attending a NCO of the Quarter board just before he took over responsibility of my battalion. I wanted to leave a lasting impression on him, but that was not the way I wanted. I wanted him to see a hard working Staff Sergeant who was confident and knowledgeable. Needless to say, I failed miserably. The look on his face when I walked out of that room is an image that I ll never forget. A few days passed before our next encounter. He pulled me aside, spoke to me about my performance, and told me I know you can do better than that . I have never really known whether or not I truly am a bad writer. I continued these habits of just writing something down to get a decent gradeall throughout school. I usually got an okay grade because I followed the prompt closely and did the minimum amount of work for the paper. I didn t start the assignments until either the night before it was due. As I got older I would type the paper on my phone in school that day then print it off in the library moments before class. I continued writing in that awful ritual of complacency until the end of 11th grade. We had to write a paper on The Great Gatsby a book that I never read. I read couple of notes on the internet and then wrote the paper and never reread it or edited it all. I did my usual routine and followed the prompt and turned my paper in. When I got my paper back I was shocked to find out I didn t get even a half decent grade I was given a zero. • 38. Understanding Vigilante Justice The use of vigilante justice is illegal but, at times it can be understood. Vigilante justice is considered legal when dealing with it as self defense.. The term vigilante justice means someone has gone outside the law to carry out a punishment for a crime. In other words vigilante justice means that a citizen has taken justice into their own hands. One of the defining elements of vigilantism is a response that involves violence that exceeds the legitimate use of force in self defense. These people who take justice into their own hands are called a vigilante. Our legal system does not permit vigilante justice (Grisham 137). Self defense, though, is the only type of vigilante justice that is legal because it is one of the rights written in the constitution. It is considered legal because self defense is one of the rights given to American citizens in the Constitution. Our legal system also cannot condone men who take the law into their own hands . This means that the government cannot over look a case of vigilante justice because it will cause problems in our society. The legal system also cannot over look it because the society cannot have people just running around with guns shooting other people who did them wrong. The world would be chaos if that was allowed to happen because everyone would be taking justice into their own hands because they are unhappy with the outcome of the case. Depicted as a form of psychological violence, there have been continuous cases resulting in serious mental injury or even death. Accordingly over the past decade, research against workplace bullyinghas rapidly increased internationally including Australia. Since its first study in the UK, following studies agree on the fact that workplace bullying has become a hazard affecting people in their daily work life. Special attention is required as it is not a matter exclusive to a certain region or industry. Its negative impacts being evident, managing and preventing it is a major task for all workplaces concerned.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It found that 6.8 percent of Australian workers have been bullied at work six months prior to being surveyed, with more than half experiencing bullying for longer than six months period. (Dollard 2012) Also, the news article on the human cost of workplace bullying claimed that such conditions were costing Australian economy between 6 to 36billion dollars a year. The major reasons pinpointed were the reduced productivity, increase in number of absenteeism and turnover. In addition to its impact on economy, workplace bullying has a devastating effect on the individual employees. Bullying can bring significant damage to the victim s wellbeing, which in extreme cases leads to suicide. Regarding a research conducted by Toni Mellington, an Australian health psychologist, there is a direct negative relationship between bullying and health. (Gregor 2015) Employees who claimed to have been bullied reported poorer health, with an increase in severity of bullying increasing the chance of poorer health. The finding also suggested that the experience of merely witnessing bullying can also have a negative impact on one s health, backing up the fact that bullying affects not only the individual but the entire firm. The eye catching studies above urge a prompt reaction towards resolving workplace bullying. Currently everyone at workplace is potentially at the risk of being bullied. • 41. A Byzantine Fault Introduction Faults occur in every system which may halt the systems functionality. A fault that presents different symptoms to different observers is called a Byzantine fault. These Byzantine faults form the reason for the loss of a system service and are called Byzantine failures. A Byzantine failure may occur due to arbitrary problems like corruption in their local state, production of incorrect outputs or by processing requests incorrectly instead of the general situations like crashing or stopping. The ability of a system to defend itself from Byzantine failures is called Byzantine fault tolerance which is a sub field of fault tolerance. A reliable computer system is a system that overcomes failures, one such failure is the Byzantine Generals problem. This problem is rare and generally overlooked by the people who are unfamiliar with the problem. It brings down the entire network if not tackled properly. This problem is most common in distributed dependable network. This paper aims at explaining the Byzantine Generals problem and providing a possible solution to that problem. My motivation to write this topic comes from the wide usage of distributed systems in various fields like particle physics, bioinformatics, weather, climate, visualization and graphics, economics and finance etc., and the need to protect such systems. Failure of distributed systems leads to huge loss of resources, time and money. Thus protecting from these kinds of failure is a challenging task ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Committed to living lightly on the earth, the Arc is self sufficient as it is designed to harvest and conserve energy through the use of solar and wind power. The house desires not have have segregated systems of production, but many systems which all work together. The greenhouse allows residents to simply go and harvest foods instead of having to refrigerate and buy foods. Residents are able to grow foods all year long due to the heat conserving design which can store heat for up to six months that warms the house and allows food to grow. The house also avoids using pesticides through integrated pest management! Plant clippings were thrown into an algae tank which feeds fish that are then sold or eaten. The algae tank also helped with heating the house, as algae is really good at absorbing and radiating heat. The Ark also had other features such as a barn and self composting toilets and in total cost only $350 000 in 1975 which converts to $130 per square foot today (Mannell, S., 2017, March, 30)! I found this lecture to be very interesting, as I always worry about how my living situation impacts my level of sustainability. • 43. Social Issues On Abortion Abortion is a current social problem that has affected the lives of many women, their friends, and their families. Numerous policies have been implemented in regards to the legality of abortion, the timeframe in which abortions can occur, required services prior to receiving an abortion, the funding sources for abortion, and requirements for facilities providing abortion services. These policies may vary from state to state, but are similar in that they attempt to dissuade a woman from aborting and often make getting an abortion more difficult. While abortion and abortion policy tends to be a fairly common topic during elections, it seems to remain a taboo topic for many people to talk about openly. Women who have chosen to abort a child often will not admit it or discuss it due to the shame, guilt, and fear of judgment. Early research suggested very few negative side effects for women following an abortion. However, current research now shows links between mental health diagnoses, substance abuse disorders, suicide, and abortion. There are many policies in place in regards to services before and during an abortion, but what about after?
