Phillips West neighborhood presentation
This document summarizes the results of a survey of neighborhood organizations conducted by interns from the American Swedish Institute. The interns identified 153 organizations in the Phillips West neighborhood of Minneapolis and conducted interviews with 61 of them. They gathered information on the types of programs and services offered and identified opportunities for collaboration between the organizations and ASI. Based on the survey results, the interns determined 29 organizations that seem like new prospective partners for ASI. They created maps and spreadsheets to organize the information collected to help ASI identify potential partners for specific projects.

Collaboration not conflict
Knowing and upholding organizational values is key to successful collaboration. Values should be clearly defined, openly discussed, and referenced regularly to guide decision making and resolve conflicts. Partnerships also benefit from setting standards, responsibilities, and codes of conduct to facilitate open communication and ensure all parties are heard. Preventing issues from arising is better than dealing with conflicts once they emerge. Building understanding and finding the best shared solutions requires ongoing hard work from all involved.

Heston West Big Local
The workshop focused on developing youth engagement strategies. They presented their strategy developed by young people, including case studies of their Big Local Youth Action Team. Their story showed growing the team from 48 to 75 dedicated volunteers over 4 years through diverse activities, events, and opportunities for youth involvement and leadership.
