VERB CONSISTENCY
refers to keeping the same tense throughout a clause
Verb tense consistency on
the sentence level
Keep tenses consistent with sentences
1. During the movie, Sam stood up and then
drops his popcorn.
2. During the movie, Sam stood up
and dropped his popcorn.
Do not change tenses when there is no time
change for the action.
1. When Mary walks into a
room, everyone will stare.
2. When Mary walks into a
