The document proposes a vehicle tracking system using RFID and GSM for child safety. The system aims to track the exact location of school buses using RFID tags placed at bus stops and a GPS device on the bus. RFID readers on buses would read the tags and send the bus location to a school server via GSM. Parents would receive SMS messages when their child enters or exits the bus, and about the current location of the bus. The system is intended to address issues of child safety and ease parents' worries regarding their children's transportation to school.

A Model for Car Plate Recognition & Speed Tracking (CPR-STS) using Machine Le...CSCJournals
The transportation challenges experienced in major cities as a result of influx of people in search of greener pastures is increasing on a daily basis. This results in an increase in the number of cars plying and competing for driving space on narrow roads. Many drivers violate traffic laws as a result of this and how to prosecute them without chasing them remains an issue to be addressed. Therefore, this research presents a model that can be used to solve this challenge using machine learning algorithms. The model consists of recognition modules such as image acquisition, Gaussian blur, localization of car plate, character segmentation and optical character recognition of car plate. K-NN Algorithm was used for training licensed plate font type spanning A-Z and 0-9 while the speed tracking module used a camera which is automatically self-initiated to track the speed of any moving object within its range of focus. The performance of the model was evaluated using metrics such as recognition accuracy, positive prediction value, negative prediction value, specificity and sensitivity. A tracking accuracy of 82% was achieved.
City i-Tick: The android based mobile application for students’ attendance at...journalBEEI
This paper presents City i-Tick, the android based mobile application for students’ attendance at a university. In this study, we developed mobile application for lecturers to take students’ attendance in City University, Petaling Jaya. Managing students’ attendance during lecture periods has become a difficult challenge. The research objectives for this study are to identify user requirement for City i-Tick, to design and develop City i-Tick, and to demonstrate the prototype of City i-Tick. The study is a narrative participatory design and exploits Design Thinking as the research methodology. City i-Tick was successfully validated by 14 lecturers and System Usability Scale (SUS) was used to determine the findings of the study. We found that City i-Tick is effective for lecturers in taking attendance because it is easy to use, easy to learn, and the users feel confident when using this application.

Poster presentation on Smart School Bus project.Judy T Raj
A research poster presented on the completion of my major project, Smart School Bus, as part of my course work in B.Tech,CS,CUSAT.
Smart School Bus is an IoT project that tracks school buses in real time and notifies parents through push notifications when their wards enter and exit.
This paper presents a system to monitor drop-off/pick up of school children to enhance the safety of children during the daily transportation from and to school. The system consists of two main units that are school unit and bus unit. The bus unit is used to detect when a child boards the bus or leaves the bus. This information is communicated to the school unit to identify the children did not board or leave the bus. The system has a developed web-based database-driven application which facilities its management and provides useful information about the children to authorized personal. A complete prototype of the proposed system was tested and implemented to validate the system functionality. The proposed system facilitates to know about the area where the vehicle has crossed the path using RFID Formulated by merging Global Positioning System (GPS) and Radio Frequency Identification. The GPS technology connected with this system helps in acquiring updates on student’s real time location. This proficient tracking structure with enriched features is designed and implemented for the purpose of protection in various streams. It is up and coming technology in the field of communication and network. The “TAGS ON ROAD” model is an evolving and justifiable technique in future world. The projected system here is planned to be implemented in school vehicles for the safety of the students and it can also be installed in the professional security system for VIP‟s and politicians.

Application of Micro Controller in Vehicle Monitoring and Security Systemijtsrd
As a result of the advancements in information and communication technology ICT , people can now lead more comfortable lives. Vehicle monitoring while parked or driving is an example of a problem that needs to be addressed. Car owners, especially those whose hard earned money was spent on a vehicle or whose loss would cause significant hassles to their family and workplaces, need to be aware of the importance of vehicle security. Every vehicle owners major issue is now compounded by these factors. Using GSM and GPS technologies, the Microcontroller based Car Security System with Tracking Capability is a system that can trace the position of a missing vehicle and provide authorities with solid evidence that the vehicle has been stolen. Real time tracking and monitoring of cars in a specific area is provided by this technology. For future reference, the system keeps track of a moving vehicles travel patterns, which can be used if necessary. The systems functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintenance friendliness, and portability were all taken into account during the evaluation process. As a result of this study, it appears that the system is both feasible and effective for this particular application. In order to send the vehicles location Latitude and Longitude , a GSM modem is utilised. Using a GPS modem, the vehicles location will be constantly updated. However, just the data coming out of the GPS modem is read and forwarded to the users phone number. M.Tech.-VLSI & ES
Under the Guidance of :
Dr. Priyabrata Pattanaik
Dr. Sushanta kumar Kamilla
3. Introduction
• In India a child goes missing for eight minutes according
to the data from National Crime Records Bureau.
• In Coimbatore 2010, two children were kidnapped when
they were waiting for school van.
• Child safety is major concern among parents.
• Parents are worried about their child when they go for
school and also their school bus or pool cars.
• Due to safety and security issues, we are more preferring
personalized mode for their transport.
4. Motivation
• Main aim is to develop a bus safety system using
RFID and GSM.
• The proposed system is to track exact location of bus
using RFID and GPS.
• System must be in a cost effective way, so it could be
implemented in small scale school.
5. Experimental Framework
• RFID is now an emerging technology in security and
process management.
• RFID is for identifying an object with wireless radio
link.
• Data can be stored in RFID Tags.
• RFID and GSM based system helps in tracking the
vehicles.
6. I. Existing Model
• RFID Tags are given to each student which contain the
student’s details.
• RFID reader is kept on the bus.
• Reader reads the serial number of tag.
• Information is stored to microcontroller.
• It sent to school server via GSM modem.
• Simultaneously, a message is sent to parents.
8. II. Proposed Model
• RFID tags are preprogrammed with exact location of
area and placed in the bus stops.
• RFID Reader reads the tag.
• The information is sent to school server via GSM
modem.
• A message about current location of bus is sent to
parents mobile.
9. • GPS provides only the latitude and longitude value.
• RFID model provides exact location of bus.
• RFID and GSM based system helps in tracking the
vehicles.
• Zigbee is used for the communication between
vehicle unit and main server.
11. III. Database server
• School server maintains a database which contain
details of student and location of bus.
• Server can be accessed by parents anytime.
• Parents can know the entry and exit of child and the
current location of bus.
12. Design & Implementation
• The system is formed by microcontroller, hardware
and software design techniques.
• Embedded C program is written, compiled and saved
into flash memory of Atmel microcontroller.
• KEIL μVision IDE is used for compile.
• Final code is dumped using flash magic software.
14. • When student enters or leaves the bus, RFID reader
reads the Tag information, a message is sent to parents.
• Current bus location is also read and send SMS using
GSM.
• Wrong route of bus is also tracked using GPS.
• Database is updated in school server.
• Parents can go through the database at any time.
15. Figure 5: Entry and Exit SMS
to parents & school unit
Figure 6: Wrong Path Detection
using RFID and GPS
16. System Validation
• Testing done for analyze the functionality.
• Tested using KEIL vision software.
• Tested system is designed, developed and
implemented as a prototype model.
18. Conclusion
• The proposed system can be smartly used for Kid’s
safety during daily outing.
• RFID detects the child at bus and exact area of bus
and GPS is used to track the bus position.
• Traffic congestion may be improved using this
system.
• It can also be used as professional security system for
VIP’s and politician.
