that is a crowd favorite with very few party poopers.
Anyway, what is it actually?
Manchow soup is one of the popular hot soups from Indo-Chinese cuisine. Stir-fried
vegetables are immersed in a pot of water/stock enriched with aromatics and
seasonings to create a flavorful dish full of nutrients.
But what makes a man chow soup so special?
The smoky aroma, umami taste, crunchy vegetables, and the right balance of all the
tastes are what makes this so good. Moreover, the garnish isn’t simply your everyday
ingredients but crunchy fried noodles that make you want to eat more.
For a vegetarian version, vegetable broth is often used to provide extra flavor. For a
chicken version, sometimes chicken stock is used. However, for a homemade version,
we can simply use water & yet make it taste good.
If you’ve enjoyed hot and sour soup (another Chinese restaurant favorite), you’ll definitely
relish this man chow soup. While both soups employ similar elements, man chow
contains more stir-fried vegetables and is less sour.
The best thing about making these restaurant-style soups at home is that you can
control the ingredients that go into them. This is a nutritious hot soup (if you discount
the fried noodles) with fresh foods.

About this recipe
I’ve made this the simplest way by using basic vegetables you find in most Chinese
recipes. More than the ingredients it is the method and the carbon steel wok that
actually imparts the magical smoky aroma to your man chow soup.
So I highly suggest using a carbon steel wok for the true Chinese flavors. If you don’t
have one, use a bare cast iron pot but refrain from stirring vinegar into the pot. Pour it
directly into your serving bowl instead.
You can make this soup anytime you want. But you can prepare this in no time if you’re
already cooking vegetables for other Chinese dishes like fried rice or noodles.

Instructions:
1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add in the extra virgin olive oil. Once hot,
add in the minced garlic. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes or until soft.
2. Add the chicken into the skillet. Cook for 10 minutes on each side or until the
chicken is cooked through.
3. Drain the excess oil from the skillet.
4. Season the chicken with the smoked paprika and light brown sugar.
5. Pour the red wine around the chicken. Cover and continue to simmer for 15 to
20 minutes. Baste the chicken with the wine mixture while it cooks.
6. Season the mixture with a dash of salt and black pepper. Remove from heat
and serve immediately.

Vegetable Fried Rice-Hypnotizing and tempting
1. Vegetable Fried Rice is a Chinese dish which has over a period of time evolved
into an Indo-Chinese cuisine.
We had a family get together few days back. It was my nephew’s birthday. I
prepared a lot of dishes, some of which almost took a day for me to prepare
them and some which were prepared in the blink of an eye. Of all the dishes, I
was surprised to see that kids loved Vegetable Fried Rice more than anything.
Its aroma was truly hypnotizing and had a tempting look which left almost
everyone spellbound.
In fact, I had to prepare more of it, but it was not at a problem as this dish takes
less than 5-10 minutes to cook provided you have all ingredients at home and

2. Use 2 small bowls to cook(Make sure they are not fully
cooked. There should be no lumps and each grain should
be distinct and separable)
4 medium sized diced
2 (medium sized) Chopped
½ a cup
1 tsp
3 tsp
1 inch finely chopped
5-6 cloves finely chopped
3-4 finely chopped
As per taste
2 tsp
Cooked (Boiled)
Rice
Carrots
Onion
Beans
Black Pepper
Powder
Soya Sauce
Ginger
Garlic
Green Chillies
Salt
Oil
3. 1). Take a non stick pan and heat it.
2). After the pan is heated, add oil, ginger, garlic and onion. Stir it for a few
seconds.
3). Now, add vegetables, carrots and French beans. (If you want you can
include more vegetable like peas, cabbage and capsicum…I prefer to keep it
simple)
4. 4). Then, add soy sauce, salt and black pepper.
**** (Soy sauce contains salt therefore accordingly add)
5). Now add boiled rice slowly and stir. Then add more of rice and stir.
5. Mix it well and if color of the rice is still white then feel free to add more of soy
sauce.
*** (All the above steps should be done on high flame.)
6) Let it heat for 4-5 minutes on medium flame till the mixture gets hot.
7) Garnish it with spring onions & serve it with gravy Manchurian or savor it
with Red chilli sauce.
