- #4 This is what many customer share as the marco-level IT challenge: With new demands being placed on IT departments every day, enterprises need to smartly connect their infrastructure, software applications, data and operations capabilities in order to become agile, intelligent, digital businesses. IT budgets (broadly speaking) remain low to flat LoB budgets for technology growing very fast Digital initiatives driving demand Digital business initiatives = mobile, ecommerce, customer experience, analytics Your LoBs are technically savvy, they know what they want to get done IT operating at a digital deficit, the ability fulfill, not keep up with pace of demand The industry experts also see this pattern, and estimate that by 2019, LOB spending on tech will increase to 75% of all IT spending.
- #5 Hybrid Cloud - opportunity to increase business agility, while also lowering costs and mitigating risks. Increase agility and speed, by delivering resources to the LoBs faster Increase control and reduce security risks, by maintaining consistent set of standards and policies between your on-premises environment and your cloud environment Reduce costs, by consolidating or optimizing your use of on-premises resources via a SDDC based architecture. VMware is the best suited to attack these issues; lower the cost of what you have today, improve agility to help LoB address needs faster, build application to help grow revenue. One company that provides a cloud service, while also selling the software stack to run your own private data center.
- #7 Realizing Hybrid Cloud is extremely challenging. When evaluating public cloud services, most customer find they are constrained by the amount of change or rework need to get their applications to run on most public cloud services. Customers that chose a generic cloud service realize that they can’t managing IT as one fungible pool of resources. Security rules are compromised, there are multiple tool sets, your control and policies for allocating IT becomes complex. You start losing the TCO and economic benefits originally perceived with public cloud computing.

I have a vApp running somewhere It’s not a desirable long-term platform: too expensive, aging, hard to maintain, static I’d like to take the application and run it somewhere better, when I want to, and under my own terms. I’d like the app to perform just a well, if not better And I’d like a strategy where I can manage my IT platform, just as I do my on-premises or current data center option Essentially, I want all the benefits of running my app on the cloud as a do today But I don’t want all the headache and non-essential spend of managing and securing and networking a different platform.

- #16 Talking points VMware commissioned benchmarking tests from Principled Technologies, who determined that vCloud Air delivers 7X the storage performance than equivalent instances on AWS, and 2X the compute power over equivalent instances on Microsoft Azure. This comparison also ignores the free redundant compute capacity that is built into every vCloud Air virtual data center for High Availability and load balancing purposes. To achieve this level of redundancy and performance management in Azure would require twice as many instances – the recommended Azure approach is to double up to get redundancy. All of this means you get more compute and storage performance for what you pay. OR you pay less to get the same level of performance you get on other clouds.
