A customer purchases a product because it provides satisfaction. Marketers create much of a product's utility by shaping perceptions. There are different forms of utility, including time utility where a product is available when wanted, form utility which is a product's shape and size, task utility when a product performs a service, place utility when a product is accessible, and possession utility which is the transfer of ownership when a product is purchased.
