1. Using Photoshop Elements to Create a Logo
By adding different effects to a picture you can create some spectacular results very quickly.
1. Open Photoshop Elements and create a new canvas
850 pixels wide and 850 pixels high. (Make sure you
are in pixels and not in cm!)
Set the colour mode to RGB Colour and the
Background Contents to white.
2. Make a background that looks like brushed steel.
Select Filter - Noise - Add Noise from the menu bar.
Copy the settings in the screenshot on the right.
If you want to, you can experiment with different settings to see which
ones look best.
Now select Filter - Blur - Motion Blur from the menu bar.
Set the angle to 0° and the distance to 35 pixels.
Again, you can experiment to see what looks best.
If you want to, you can use the clone stamp tool to
tidy up the edges.
3. You now need to make a new layer to put the logo on.

2. You do this by clicking on the New Layer icon in the Layers Palette
on the right hand side of the screen (see the screenshot on the right).
If the Layers Palette isn’t open, click on the little arrow
to the left of the word Layers.
4. Click the Shape Tool near the bottom of the toolbox on the left.
Alternatively, you can press U on the keyboard.
Select the Custom Shape Tool in the Options Bar at the top.
Choose the shape you want. If necessary, click on the little arrow to the right and select All Elements
Shapes.
You can also choose the colour.
You can draw more than one shape in your logo. Each one will be on a separate layer.
See if you can make your logo look something like this.
Hints:
You can move each shape using the Move Tool on the top of the toolbox.

3. You can also change the order of the layers by dragging them
around in the Layers Palette.
The higher the layer is in the Layers Palette, the nearer
the top it will be in the graphic.

5. Adding a shadow to the shield
Select the shield background shape by clicking it in the
Layers Palette (1).

Select drop Shadows from the dropdown menu in the Layer
Styles Palette (2).
Click on High (3).
Finally click on the f icon (4) to edit the layer style that has
just been applied. Copy the settings shown in the screenshot
below.

6. Saving your work
Save your work in your own area. Use the name and format shown in the screenshot below.
Save it again, this time with the name Logo flattened.
