Newton's laws of motion describe the relationship between an object and the forces acting upon it. Newton's first law states that objects in motion will remain in motion unless acted upon by an outside force. Newton's second law asserts that acceleration is proportional to force and inversely proportional to mass. Newton's third law states that for every action force there is an equal and opposite reaction force.
