Background
o Urban Water Management Planning Act
• Enacted by Assembly Bill 797
• Created Water Code Section 10610
• Mandates that all water suppliers providing
water for municipal purposes to more than
3,000 customers prepare an Urban Water
Management Plan

Purpose
o Ensure efficient use of water
o Promote conservation programs and
policies
o Ensure sufficient water supplies are
available for future beneficial use
o Provide a mechanism for response during
drought conditions

History
o City Council previously adopted the City’s
first plan in 2010
o Since then, Senate Bill X7-7 passed in
November of 2009
• Deals with water conservation
• Includes new requirements for the Plans
including mandating a reduction of per capita
water use statewide of 20% by 2020

o Water Conservation Baseline and Target
• City baseline per capita water use is 262 gallons
per capita per day
• 2015 actual per capita water use vs. interim 2015
capita water use confirmed City achieved a per
capita water use of 163 gallons per capita per day
• Exceeded the 20% by 2020 goals

• Corona has a diverse water supply portfolio,
including:
• Imported water from Colorado River and Sacramento
Delta
• Groundwater from 3 local basins
• Coldwater
• Arlington
• Temescal
• Reclaimed water for landscape irrigation

o Water Supply Reliability
• Assessed/Projected for normal years, single dry years and
multiple dry years
• Projected supply was compared to projected demand
under normal and drought conditions to verify adequacy
of supply
• All of the City’s sources of supply are sustainably managed
and projected to exceed demand through 2040

• AKA: Water Conservation Best Management Practices
• Refers to water conservation projects and programs
implemented by City to reduce water use/loss
• City is a member of the California Urban Water
Conservation Council
• City reports progress on water conservation regularly as part
of this coordinated effort
