Rockstar Logos
Rockstar is a song by Post Malone released in 2017. The song is about how rappers the current
generation of rock stars because of their growing popularity. The song consists of famous rock
star moments in history to show how similar they are to what is happening to rappers currently. I
think the purpose of the song is mostly for entertainment, however I think that there is a hidden
message about how he is starting to go down the road of being a rock star. It is not entirely
pleasant however, because it can be full of drugs and death for certain individuals. The song
Rockstar by Post Malone uses ethos, pathos, and logos as persuasive tools to push the message that
rappers are the new rock stars of this generation and it is not entirely pleasant.... Show more content

This is logos because it uses historic events. People are persuaded by this because of the idea that
history repeats itself. People are more open to something when they know that is has happened
before, so by using history, he can get people to take him seriously.
It uses ethos because the song mentions famous rock star who the listeners could identify with
if they were fans of them. The line Rest in peace to Bon Scott is a tribute to the lead singer of
ACDC who died of alcohol poisoning. She ask me light a fire like I m Morrison is about Jim
Morrison, who was in the band The Doors, who s most popular song was Light a Fire. It even
brings up a book called I m With the Band by $#$#2$#$#. Which is about the life of a rock band
groupie.
It uses pathos in one of the songs advertising schemes. Hs recording company, Republic Records,
posted a YouTube video of a 3 minute long loop of the chorus instead of the actual song. Since
the chorus was catchy, it leads people to keep listening and look up the actual song. It used the
emotion of a catchy beat to get people curious about the song, kind of like a trailer for a movie.
This combined with the media coverage it received because of it created a lot of views. This lead it
to debut at number 2 and eventually reach number 1 extremely

Bernice Pauahi Bishop Research Paper
Bernice Pauahi Bishop was a Hawaiian princess, the last direct descendant of the Royal House
of Kamehameha. Her bequest endowed the Kamehameha Schools, which specialize in
educating the children of native Hawaiians to this day. In 1846, Charles Reed Bishop arrived in
Hawaii. The 24 year old clerk had sailed from New York en route to Oregon; after rough passage
through Cape Horn, the ship put in at Honolulu for provisions. Bishop decided to wait out the
winter in the Islands. He found work with local Yankee merchants, soon becoming a clerk at the
U.S. consulate. He met Pauahi and soon began regularly calling on her at the Royal School.
Though her family firmly reminded her of her obligation to marry Hawaiian royalty, Pauahi
resisted. In June 1850, in a small ceremony which her parents refused to attend, Pauahi... Show

With it came a wide range of responsibilities. Throughout her mid 20s, Bishop served as a
traditional Hawaiian philanthropist, offering guidance, support, and assistance to those who
approached her. She spent many working hours in her garden, seated under a tamarind tree,
taking visits from fellow islanders and working through their problems in her native Hawaiian
tongue. She was a leader in several American charitable organizations, including the Stranger s
Friend Society, which aided sick travelers, and the Women s Sewing Society, which provided
clothing for the poor. An accomplished contralto singer and pianist, she conducted performances
of the works of Haydn and Verdi with the Amateur Musical Society, and gave music lessons at the
Royal School. A devout Protestant, Bishop regularly taught Sunday school at KawaiahaК»o

Chlorophyll And The Concentration Of Chlorophyll
Plankton are aquatic organisms that drift throughout their environment as they posses no true motor
capabilities. Within their respective aquatic habitats plankton form the productive basis of their
ecosystem and are divided into two subcategories: zooplankton and phytoplankton, the later will be
the primary focus of this paper. Phytoplankton, as well as other photosynthetic organisms poses
pigments called chlorophyll. These pigments allow phytoplankton to convert carbon dioxide and
water to oxygen and sugar, which provides the phytoplankton with energy. Due to the fact that all
phytoplankton posses chlorophyll scientists have developed methods that use chlorophyll testing in
order to understand more about phytoplankton as a whole. Phytoplankton posses different types of
chlorophyll but scientists usually samplechlorophyll a as it is the most abundant form (YSI
Environmental, Cullen 1982, Santos 2003). Several different methods have been developed to
analyze the concentration of chlorophyll a.
One method of analyzing chlorophyll a that has been developed is through chlorophyll extraction.
In order to perform this method one must first collect a fairly large water sample (see Plankton Web
citation for surface water sampling techniques). This sample must then be filtrated in order to
concentrate the chlorophyll containing organisms (see Plankton Web for filtration methods).
Finally mechanical rupturing of the collected cells, and extraction of the chlorophyll from the

Homeland Security And Infrastructure (NPPD)
When people think of Homeland Security most people think of Border Protection, Immigration
agents, TSA, and maybe FEMA but there are many more aspects of Homeland Security which often
get overlooked. When the Department of Homeland Security was established in 2002, there were
22 different Federal agencies which were combined and absorbed into this one department. This
consolidation was intended to streamline the exchange of information and cooperative efforts
towards the mission of securing this nation. This vision of cooperation has helped create a safer
environment in the United States, and helped prepare emergency personnel in the detection,
prevention, and response to both natural and man made disasters. As part of the cooperative effort...

Media Portrayals Of Media Affecting Women
Media can be seen as a channel of communication in whereupon millions of people frequently use
in their daily lives. So, with all of this technology around, how is the media portrayal of beauty
affecting women? According to Cheryl J. Haas, Laura A. Pawlow. Jon Pettibone, and Dan J.
Segrist, Research has shown media exposure to unattainable physical perfection is detrimental to
people, especially women and that inimical effects are currently more the rule than the exception
(1). When a person feels as if they do not compeer with the standard of beauty media has set, that
individual develops negative emotions towards themselves which can lead to ailing eating habits
including binge eating, purging, or starving. Several studies further reveal a show in a decrease of
self esteem, including other psychological distress, following exposure to idealized media
portrayal. Moreover, the media portrayal of beauty has a detrimental effect on the way young
women perceive themselves. Media bombards our everyday life with unrealistic images and drills
in our minds what the ideal girl looks like; this leads to individuals developing unhealthy habits and
negative self perception based on their appearance. However, understanding media has helped in the
long run. When females view images of the idealized thin woman, they often alter their eating
habits in attempt to match the unrealistic photo they have witnessed. Every girl strives to be and
feel beautiful. In consequence, when they see an

Similarities Between The Giver And Jonas
Ned, from Code Talker and Jonas from The Giver, are two unique characters. Although they lived
in hugely different societies there many similarities can be drawn between the two. There are
obvious differences between Ned and Jonas. For example, Ned and Jonas lived in completely
different societies with extremely different cultures. Jonashome was very orderly and peaceful,
whereas Ned s gave free will and was experiencing a time of war. Ned could decide what he
wanted for his future, but Jonas had his future chosen for him. There is also a significant
difference in the age of the characters, with Ned being 16 for most of the book and Jonas being
around 12. Another very different cultural aspect of their lives was how their history and ancestry...

Because Ned was a Navajo, he was always looked down upon by white people, even though he
was a Marine. The day Ned returned to America, he went to a bar to get a Coke, but was thrown
out military uniform and all because he was Navajo. After Jonas was chosen to be the next
Receiver of Memories, he was always treated with respect and was even given special privileges.
Although there are many differences between Ned and Jonas, some of what they experienced is
alike. Ned and Jonas both went experienced wartime, just in different ways. On page number 119
of The Giver, Jonas receives a memory of the aftermath of a battle in a war before his time. Ned
traveled all over the Pacific going from battle to battle fighting alongside other Marines.
The two characters are also similar in that they both have unique abilities. Both Ned and Jonas had
traits that set them apart from the rest of their world. Jonas had the ability to see beyond that
distinguished him from the community. Ned was a part of the Navajo tribe and could speak the
Navajo language. Jonas used his gift to enlighted the rest of the community about the past, and Ned

Understanding Down Syndrome
Understanding Down Syndrome
Down syndrome is one of the most commonly occurring genetic chromosomal disorder. One in
every 800 babies in the United States is born with Down syndrome. It has been estimated that
approximately 400,000 people are living with Down syndrome in the United States (Center for
Disease Control and Prevention). I have a family member and a friend who have given birth to
babies born with Down syndrome. Neither my family member or friend was screen for Down

Machiavelli s The Prince And Leviathan
Although misunderstood when introduced to society during their time, Niccolo Machiavelli s
The Prince and Thomas Hobbes Leviathan have been two of the most influential political works
in history. The Prince and Leviathan, although seen as immoral and almost wicked works of
their time, have guided many political thinkers, even America s own Thomas Jefferson, on the
subject of governance and power. This paper will compare the similarities and differences
between both works in terms of the historical settings in which they were written as well as
between the two distinct political philosophies presented by each man. More specifically, this
paper will differentiate the purpose of power between Machiavelli s theory of an absolute ruler
separated from morals and ethics compared to Hobbes reasoning for a necessary and absolute ruler
to put an end to the chaotic state of nature he presents.
Identification of Documents
The Prince, written by Niccolo Machiavelli in 1513 in his native Italian language, was a book
dedicated to Florence s then leader Lorenzo de Medici in an effort for Machiavelli to gain a
position in Florence s new government. The book was intended to help guide Lorenzo and other
present and future leaders in gaining and maintaining power, more specifically to aid Lorenzo in
unifying Italy under one ruler. Machiavelli lived during a time of great political strife in Italy as
the small city states of Italy, the Papal States, and the powerful states of Spain and

The Disaster Planning Or Management
Although there were numerous predictions that a category 4 or 5 could hit New Orleans, very
little disaster planning or management was accomplished before Katrina hit in August 2005
(Lalwani, et al., 2007, p10). After Katrina made landfall August 29th, several sections of the
levee system collapsed including levees protecting the Ninth Ward (Lalwani, et al., 2007, p10).
The manmade MRGO channel caused the problems it was predicted; the channel increased the
power and the size of the waves that destroyed many levees (Heerden, Kemp, Bea, Shaffer, Day,
Morris, Fitzgerald, and Milanes, 2009, p306). By early September, people were forcibly
evacuated and the storm displaced more than 1.5 million people (Lalwani, et al., 2007, p10).
According to Lalwani, et al. (2007, p10), Katrina was the most destructive and costliest natural
disaster in the history of the United States, with an estimated $75 billion worth of damage. Months
after the hurricane, 3,200 people were unaccounted for and many of the low lying areas, most of
which were poor and minority neighborhoods, were still under water. People were stranded in their
homes or at evacuation centers without food or water. Those in charge did not supply those in need
with aid in a timely manner that is expected. According to Ripley, Bennett, Thomas, Calabresi,
Donnelly, Thompson, Tumulty, Waller, Zagorin, Chu, DeQuine, and Klarreich (2005), The first 72

Why Is Migration Important To Economic Prosperity In The...
Does immigration contribute a substantial amount to economic prosperity in industrialized
countries, specifically the United States, or are they a deterrent? Throughout the years there has
been a shift in people s perspectives about the contributions of immigration to their own and foreign
countries. Immigrants contribute a substantial amount to the economic prosperity in industrialized
countries, specifically the United States. Since the Gilded Age, countries like the United States were
developed by immigrants. These immigrants are the ones who take those tough jobs which the
native citizens do not want to do, such as working for long hours in industry plants, in the
construction industry, landscaping and several other jobs. This controversial... Show more content

Immigration contributes to rising wages for natives. Since the natives are the ones with more
education and higher skill set, they can argue until both parties agree on a specific figure or
salary, helping make natives work become more valuable. Finally, another major critic from anti
immigration advocates say that the primary type of immigration is for family reunification ...
Spouses, children and parents of citizens may be unskilled, uneducated, and thus likely to become
public charges, the bane of immigration , (Foster, 1). This argument does not make sense because
if your are illegal you do not have any of the rights that citizens have, meaning they can not ask for
aid due to their illegal status not being a charge to the national economy. So, immigration is not a
deterrent, but a positive situation for those slowing and shrinking economies in the world because a
redistribution of the population could help balance the world, solving the economic crisis the world

Ronald Reagan on the 40th Anniversary of D-Day Pointe Du...
Before I get to the analysis portion of this assignment, the speech I have decided to go with is
former President Ronald Reagan s speech on the 40th Anniversary of D Day that was delivered
at Pointe du Hoc, Normandy, France, on June 6, 1984. This is the speech I wanted to use for my
analytical paper because I have always been extremely interested in World War II and anything
affiliated with it. Also, I actually had two grandfathers that served in the Philippines fighting
alongside American soldiers as guerilla fighters against the Japanese invaders during the war.
President Reagan was the one who presented the speech but to my slight disappointment, he did
not actually prepare it himself. The speech was actually written by Peggy Noonan, the primary
speechwriter and special assistant to President Reagan. After reading and watching footage of
the speech, I found it to be a great collaboration between the speaker and the writer. President
Reagan s 40th Anniversary of D Day speech was given exactly forty years after D Day, the
Normandy beach landings that took place on June 6, 1944 in Normandy, France. More
specifically, he delivered the speech at Pointe du Hoc, Normandy, France where United States
Army Rangers scaled the cliffs to take out German artillery emplacements that were raining shells
on Omaha, Utah, Gold, Juno, and Sword beach where other Allied forces were landing. Despite the
German artillery not being there once they got to the top, the artillery replaced by

The Impact on a Student s Performance from a Highly...
INTRODUCTION
Consider a student running so swiftly from boarding house to school for his/her class. And in the
time that he/she is right there in front of the door, the teacher welcome him with an eyes wide
open and uttered, Did I ever fail to tell you not to enter my class if you are late even in a single
minute? And the pitiful student left with nothing but a teary eyes. As you put your shoe to the
students situation, what would you feel? Will you feel discouraged or will you take it as a
challenge not to be late again? Supporting to that, this paper aims to appeal who are these teachers
are and their effectiveness on enhancing the students learning, the pros and cons of a high standard
teacher, and the feedbacks of the students once handled by a high standard teacher. To implement
this study, the method to be used is by interviewing some students once handled by a high standard
teacher. We will know how and what do they think and feel whenever these teachers enter to the
classroom and how these happenings affect their performance on that particular subject. Education
is considered as learning itself. In education, a teacher has its own way to make it profound,
realistic, and a peculiar one. This may vary from person to person or from teacher to teacher.
Moreover, learning is a two way process. There is an interaction between the educator and the
learner. In every learning condition, you have to consider the barriers also, and such barriers

Henry eventually gets his red badge of courage by getting hit in the head with a rifle. In Knowle s
novel, the symbol is the giant tree on the Devon campus. The giant tree represents fears and
obstacles of boys growing to be men. When Gene was younger the giant tree always gave him
chills, because that is where his friend Finny fell and broke his leg. Finny died because of the
broken leg. Gene visits Devon Boarding School around 15 years later. This time Gene is grown
and in his mid thirties. Gene notices the huge tree that gave him chills when he was younger.
This time when Gene saw the huge tree it seemed not as big as he expected it to be. The tree did
not bring as much chills neither. It is easy to infer that the tree brought a little discomfort to him
because that is where his friend broke his leg. A quote that proves the tree symbolizes fears and
obstacles of boys says This was the tree, and it seemed to me standing there to resemble those
men, the giants of your childhood, whom you encounter years later and find that they are not
merely smaller in relation to your growth, but that they are absolutely smaller, shrunken by age. In
this double demotion the old giants have become pigmies while you were looking the other way.
(Knowles 14). The quote represents fears and obstacles, because the giants can be scary. The giants
also can get in the way of your life.

An anarchist is seen as someone whose aim is to overturn any form of government or law
system conversely creating a system free state (1). Although their main aim was to create a

commonly used to abolish government authority. Anarchist had a strong belief, that all humans
wanted to live in a state of harmony and peace, where law and government was not forced upon
them (3). In order to initiate this a movement referred to as a wave was used. A wave is a series
of movement within a time period which occurs in various countries, where all participants are all

The approach of this article with today evangelism deals with the counterfeit faith of some people
proclaiming Jesus as their savior. However, if this faith does not show evidence by transforming
their lives, then does not deserved to be called saving faith. Such transformation has to show a
change on their behaviors. This does not stop there. A true Christian need to perform daily self
examination of its own testimony. Another false gospel is to separate incarnational from
informational apologetic. They go hand in hand as an absolute truth of Jesus Christ in
evangelism. Some would have us believe that incarnational apologetic is not necessary in our
society. But, they stand very far from the truth. Both incarnational and informational apologetic
are interlaced and important tools for our daily life. The practical application is to be able to
balance both terms in our daily life. What I m trying to say is that we should view it as a daily
self examination to authentically show the love of Christ in once life. In fact, the will of God
has never been that his children live under a colossal failure day by day due to this counterfeit
incarnational apologetic way of leaving. On the contrary, John said, for He who is in you is
greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). So, the connection between the two terms is very
clear. Therefore, God s message to us has not changed a bit. It remains

The Effect Of Biofeedback On Basketball Players And Effect...
2. Background Information
This study analyzes the use of biofeedback in basketball players and the effect on their on court
performance. Athletes need to have the capability to modify, learn, and correct their muscle
memory. Enhancing an athlete s performance depends on the ability for the central and peripheral
nervous systems to communicate in response to an active stimulus. This study has some variables
measured including the reaction time: the time between the stimulus and a bodily movement; the
movement time: the time taken in the middle of the onset and completion of the bodily movement;
and the response time: the aggregate time of the reaction and movement. There have been previous
studies that look at the use of Electromyographic Biofeedback (EMG BFB) and
Electroencephalographic Biofeedback (EEG BFB) and found correlations between improvement in
performance and responsiveness to stimuli. However, there has not been an analysis of the use of
Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback (HRV BFB) which measures an increase in the response time
and attention deficit in athletes. The most important aspect of an athlete s performance is the
ability to tune out outside disturbances during a game or match. If an athlete can master that skill,
then they can perform at their optimum output. Having the ability to enhance their techniques is
important for achievement in sports, especially in basketball, where there are a multitude of
offensive and defensive skills. Most notably,

Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder was first mentioned in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual

of a diagnosis that was originally in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 3rd edition (DSM III).
That diagnosis was the Late Luteal Phase Dysphoric Disorder (LLPDD), which had been found to

gene is sex linked and if it appears frequently in both sexes it is most likely autosomal. Using
Drosophila melanogaster, also known as the fruit fly, we will determine whether the gene is sex

The Habits Of Time Management In High School
Time management had always been a problem for me. Stemming back to high school, I would
procrastinate on everything I had to do. From studying for exams to getting my drivers license,
procrastination always took over my responsibilities. While it was a terrible habit to have, I was
able to bounce back from my stupid mistakes back in high school. This, unfortunately, was not the
same story in college.
In my first quarter at UCSB, I vowed to change my nasty habits of procrastinating on all my
responsibilities. Throughout the course of the quarter, I was doing fairly fine; getting decent
grades on exams, doing my homework, and even finishing readings before they were due. While
I was doing better than I expected, it was primarily due to the fact that I was fairly dedicated to
my work, and not that I was managing my time any better than I did in high school. In other
words, I was still procrastinating, but the topics were not yet too difficult to truly affect my GPA.
That is, until my first finals came around. One thing that future first year students need to
understand is that finals weeks is not just one week; the grind starts on week ten, otherwise
known as dead week . This is one bit of information that did not come across to me on my first
attempt at my college finals. As one could easily guess, I spent my entire dead week having fun,
sleeping, and watching television. At the time, I did not think that I was doing any harm to myself,
as I would still have a day to study

Case Analysis Of Worldcom
Worldcom s senior management used fraudulent accounting methods to hide the company s
decreasing earnings by recording expenses as capital expenditures and inflating the entity s
revenue from 1999 to 2002. In total, Worldcom s estimated asset inflation was $11 billion. The
company filed for bankruptcy on July 21, 2002.
The WorldCom fraudresulted in a $9 billion restatement, which is the largest in history.
WorldCom s fraudulent reporting totaled over $11 billion over a period of 5 years (Rockness,
p.39) It started initially by using reserves to absorb expenses. When the reserves ran out, a
variety of fraudulent accounting activities were used to enhance the company s revenue and
decrease expenses. This was referred to as a straight forward capitalization of expenses because
there were no complex accounting rules broken (Rockness, p. 39). WorldCom s company culture
was an issue as promotions were only given to those who were willing to cheat their ways to the
top (with faulty promises, twisting reality, or stealing credit. WorldCom manipulated employees by
promoting the greatest common good for workers, shareholders, community, raising fears of losing
their jobs if they did not comply with the management s requests to falsify records (Rockness, p.

A Brief Note On The Uk Market Industry
Oligopoly in UK supermarket industry
The main factor in an oligopolistic market is that there are only a few dominant competitors in the
marketplace. According to Anderton (2008: 322), An oligopolistic market is one where a small
number of interdependent firms compete with each other . For this assignment I ve chosen to focus
on the UK super market industry as there is clear evidence that the UK supermarket sector is
increasingly dominated by four main firms. These are Tescos, Sainsbury s Asda and Morrison s.
Firstly I will look into the four main firms. Lets start with Tesco s the front leader in market shares
for the UK supermarket industry. Tesco s is a multinational grocery and general merchandise
retailer headquartered in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An illustrating example of the big chains competing with each other is Brand Match . This idea,
developed by Sainsbury s in an effort to compete with Asda s low and very competitive prices,
was replicated in all the other major supermarkets after it was noticed and obvious that this was a
successful way to attract customers. Morrison s, taking the concept substantially further, launched
a Match and More card, offering to credit the difference in points if you would have paid less for
your shopping at Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, Sainsbury s or Asda.
A solution, universally favored by each, to distinguish themselves from one another and thus
attempt to assert a level of dominance within the marketplace, has been the development of their
own premium range of food. A brand within a brand. This is seen, with obvious success, in
Sainsbury s Taste the Difference . The Taste the Difference range is competing very well with
even the higher end companies like Waitrose and Marks Spencer s. To go one step further each
supermarket also has a more economic range, marketed towards the thrifty shopper. Once again
using Sainsbury s as an example we can see that the value brand within a brand would be the
Sainsbury s Basics which successfully competes with discount chains such as Aldi and Lidl. Many
of the products in both the higher end and more value targeted end of each range from all

Attracting Non-Traditional Students in Post-Secondary...
Despite the similarities between traditional and non traditional students, differences in adult
students experience of and perceptions about education make their transition to college unique. In
order to be successful in recruiting and retaining non traditional students, universities need to
provide resources and incentives to this sector of students. In American in the mid 1970 s, only
30% of all jobs required higher education(Gonzalez). Today, the reality is that 63% now require
post secondary education(Gonzalez). The immense number of job losses in the last few years due
to the declining economy has had a large impact on the non traditional student population. With this

defer the cost. Not only does this help the student afford care, but it would cut down the cost of this
program by reducing the amount of paid staff that would be on site. In addition, to defer the cost of
this program to the University, internships could be offered to students that are pursuing a degree in
Elementary Education or Human Development and Family Studies. For children that are in
elementary school UC Berkeley also offers transportation to and from the campus to your child s

these make attending classes easier on the non traditional student that may not be available at the

For a non traditional student, financial aid is difficult to find. Most grants are tailored toward the
traditional student. A substantial amount of non traditional students are unable to quit or cut back

hardship. Penn State University offers a 30+ program (30+ Program). This program allocates

Spanglish Language
Nowadays, with the globalization process, people are closer to get to know new languages and

Being close to information is crucial in the languages world since people are already involved and

advertisement, films and the like. In this understanding, English learning has become a necessity
for some countries, especially those which are influenced politically, socially or even ideologically

Early Childhood Dementia
Dementia
What exactly is dementia? By definition, Dementia, which is from the Latin word dement meaning
without mind, is a progressive deterioration and eventual loss of mental ability that is severe
enough to interfere with normal activities of daily living, lasts more than six months, not present
since birth, and not associated with a loss or alteration of consciousness (Thomasson, 2014).
Dementia is usually caused by a loss of brain cells in the cerebral cortex of the brain, the part
responsible for thoughts, memory, actions, and personality (Thomasson, 2014). The loss of brain
cells in this part of the brain usually leads to what is called cognitive impairment which can at

Strong National Museum Case Study
The Strong National Museum of Play was originally founded in 1968 as the Margret Woodbury

Treatment Of Veterans With Suds And Co Occurring...
The VA runs the largest substance use disorder treatment program in the world. Treatment of
veterans with SUDs and co occurring psychiatric disorders is one of the following three paradigms;
parallel, sequential, and integrated. Most VA programs are parallel, where the patient receives
treatment for SUD in one program and treatment for PTSDin another. Many SUD PTSD veterans
may be unable to navigate the separate systems or make sense of the disparate messages about
PTSD treatment and recovery. One challenge to dissemination and implementation of EBTs is that
of dual disorders, particularly SUD and PTSD. These patients use costly inpatient services, tend to
have frequent relapses, and are less likely to adhere to or complete treatment.
Cook, Walser, Kane, and Woody (2006) did a study that had a goal of getting clinicians to accept
Seeking Safety and evaluate its efficacy when treating veterans, in hopes of bridging the gap of
parallel services at the VA to treat comorbid SUD PTSD. This study reinforced the old ways of
cannot teach an old dog new tricks because of how difficult it is to influence clinician behavior in
routine medical care. A more passive approach was taken via a daylong interactive staff training in
Seeking Safety, where clinicians were informally surveyed on their willingness to co lead groups
with the study. Four therapists volunteered. And thus, four Seeking Safety groups were formed
with 25 veteran volunteers whom had comorbid SUD PTSD. Of those, 18

Analysis Of Olive s View Verena
In Olive s view Verena is a good and decent creature on whom she is able to influence easily
especially Verena is still young (eighteen years). This wrong understanding of Verena causes
Olive to be haunted... with the fear that Verena would marry, a fate to which she was altogether
unprepared to surrender her (James, Bostonians 118). But her sister, the widowed Mrs. Luna, is
convinced of the fact that marriage is normal and necessary for any woman. She states that:
[Verena] would stay with Olive as long as she served her purpose ... she will give Olive the
greatest cut she has ever had in her life ... [But] she will run off with some lion tamer; she will
marry a circus man [when she has the chance] (James, Bostonians 206). So when Mrs. Burrage
wants to propose Verena for her son, Olive feels she must defend her attachment to Verena and,
taking a superior tone, becomes hostile toward Mrs. Burrage: You do believe though you
pretend you don t that I control her actions, and as far as possible her desires and that I am
jealous of any other relations she may possibly form (James, Bostonians 312). Olive puts herself
as the guardian or caretaker for Verena and this is not her real role; it is the role of Verena s
father. It is the patriarchal role Olive wants to play. Hence Olive Chancellor represents the true
believer of the feminist right to replace man s patriarchal role in family and in society at large. She
herself plays it with Verena Tarrant. At the same time

Analysis Of The Exorcist By Stephen King
With the development of our society, the ideas and concepts of lots of things have been changed.
Feminist s act is an important hallmark on our path to improve our society. But stereotypes against
the role of female could still be found in many literatures. Looking back into our history, the
appearance of women has been always weak and helpless in different time period, compare to man.
Although, people s attitude towards women has been advancing, but there is still a space for
improvements and developments. Therefore, individuals must challenge their own false impression
regarding the role of female, if our society were to truly abridge the gap between genders. For
example, there are some literatures demonstrating sexism perfectly. In Christine, Stephen King
illustrates a car that processes the personality of a woman, which often turns violent, driven by envy
and wrath; The Exorcist creates the character of Regan, which satisfy the public s expectation of
the weak and helpless; and Draculais a classic vampirestory, where the author emphatically
deprecates the woman s status in the common society. Overall, by comparing with these three
novels, the authors have used some specific opinions to enhance the issue of feminism. The
authors of Christine, The exorcist and Dracula are considered as sexist writers from the portrayal
of Leigh Cabot, Regan and Lucy Westenra s characterization. They often portray the figure of
female in a discriminative way, debase and objectify women in

In addition, it is advisable to have a performance budget. Performance budget determines the limit
on the page load speed and the size of the requests. It should address if there are more elements to
accommodate how to handle it.
Page Optimization
Minifying the elements
CSS, Images, and JS files are the core elements for the better performance. Minifying the CSS,
Images, and JS files will leads to huge performance improvement. E.g. if the website built on
WordPress framework, there would be many of number of CSS, Images, and JS files scattered
across various location. This would lead to more time to load in the devices.
However, by integrating all the files into one single location, user can feel better load time. It will

Page Size
Also, size of the each request matters for the performance. Assume that if the end user bandwidth

Mence of Dengue
Menace of Dengue
Dengue is an arbovirus disease caused by any one of four closely related viruses that do not
provide cross protective immunity; a person can be infected as many as four times, once with each
serotype. Dengue viruses are transmitted from person to person by the Aedes aegypti mosquito in
the domestic environment. Periodic epidemics have occurred in the Western Hemisphere for over
200 years. In the past 20 years, however, dengue transmission and frequency of epidemics have
increased greatly in most tropical countries of the American, African and Asian region. As this has
occurred, dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) has emerged and produced epidemics in many countries

Reasons:
The transmission of the virus to mosquitoes must be interrupted to prevent the illness. To this end,
patients are kept under mosquito netting until the second bout of fever is over and they are no
longer contagious.
The prevention of dengue requires control or eradication of the mosquitoes carrying the virus that
causes dengue. In nations plagued by dengue fever, people are urged to empty stagnant water from
old tires, trash cans, and flower pots. Governmental initiatives to decrease mosquitoes also help to
keep the disease in check but have been poorly effective.
To prevent mosquito bites, wear long pants and long sleeves. For personal protection, use
mosquito repellant sprays that contain DEET when visiting places where dengue is endemic.
There are no specific risk factors for contracting dengue fever, except living in or traveling to an
area where the mosquitoes and virus are endemic. Limiting exposure to mosquitoes by avoiding
standing water and staying indoors two hours after sunrise and before sunset will help. The Aedes
aegypti mosquito is a daytime biter with peak periods of biting around sunrise and sunset. It may
bite at any time of the day and is often hidden inside homes or other dwellings, especially in urban

Odours And Memory Lab Report

peppermint was shown to produce a significant improvement in the quality of memory when

seem support past research done on such matters. Several confounding variables identified could
be the reason for this incongruity. First, the way the odors were introduced into the room is done
differently with past research and with this experiment. Moss et al. (2008) applied 4 drops of the

Many people also believe that legalizing same sex marriages will lead to a huge portion of the

Equal Rights, Benefits, and Financial Implications
Although they currently are not the reality is that marriage benefits should be accessible to all
couples. Gay couples are unfairly denied the countless benefits enjoyed by heterosexual couples
that are able to marry. For instance, they are not eligible for tax benefits, insurance benefits and
are sometimes denied joint ownership of property. Furthermore, Same sex couples are even
denied the right to make certain medical decisions with regards to their partner. For example, a
gay couple that has been together for 25 years is not allowed to visit their partner in the hospital
after visiting hours due to the fact they are not considered family. They each are considered legal
strangers. A common belief among opponents of same sex marriage is that businesses would be
forced to provide benefits to same sex couples. (Bidstrup, 2004) This is not necessarily the case,
and many businesses already voluntarily offer marriage benefits to same sex couples as a matter of
good business sense. The businesses that offer these benefits recognize the importance and
invaluable support spouses make to their working partners; these companies are generally viewed
as progressive and are attractive to investors

Galapagos Islands Research Paper
Discovered in 1535, the Galapagos Islands have been a place of mystery and wonder for
centuries. The Galapagos Islands are a group of volcanic islands located approximately 1000
kilometers west of the South American coast on the equator. Thirteen main islands make up the
island chain, along with 6 smaller islands and numerous other islets, small rocks, and pinnacles,
with a total land surface area of approximately 8,000 square kilometers. The islands are known for
their unique species of countless different animals, found nowhere else in the world, and for the
discoveries made by Darwin at this island chain. The Galapagos Islands are unique in many aspects,
including the hot spot underneath, the plate tectonics, the two different volcanotypes... Show more

These crater like volcanoes are quite an uncommon occurrence, although they are not unique to
just the Galapagos. However, the unusual part of these calderas is their size, especially
compared to their relation to the size of the volcano. Calderas form after a collapse of a magma
chamber located under the surface. The magma in these chambers give support to the volcano,
but after the magma withdraws, the surrounding rock becomes unsupported and cannot bear the
weight above them, and therefore they collapse. These calderas do not form in just one
collapse; they slowly grow after many collapses. This was proven after a partial collapse of the
caldera on Fernandina in 1968, as part of the crater dropped nearly 200 meters. Several other
smaller collapses have occurred on Fernandina as well as other islands since the collapse in
1968. These calderas can also be refilled with magma, partially or all the way, and then reform. An
example of this is Isla Marchena, located in the northeast, which has nearly been filled all the way
with lava. If these calderas drop below sea level and part of the rim breaks, the caldera can form a
bay just as Genovesa s caldera

Why Japan s Education System
In 8000 BCE, a small nation emerged in East Asia, in the Pacific Ocean. It has grown to an
archipelago made out of over 6,000 islands, with 4 main islands. These islands have a tropical
climate in the south and a temperate climate in the north. The land is mountainous and rocky, with
volcanic or seismic activity almost every day. It began as a place full of hunters and gathers. Then
in 300 BCE, rice production rose and allowed these groups to form a conglomerate nation known as
Japan. After the nation was formed, Japan went through a multitude of wars (both civil and
foreign), movement of the capital city, changes in governmental systems, rise and fall of dynasties,
creation or introduction of religions, and improvement of technology and... Show more content on

The people of Japan work carefully to be successful in school, excel in the workplace, and to keep
traditions in practice, and that is why the Japanese are industrious. The term industrious can
describe Japan s education system for a few of reasons. The foremost reason is that Japan is diligent
when educating their students. During primary education, what Americans consider elementary
education, the students are grouped into four person teams. In each group, the students are paired
by strengthens and weaknesses, in hopes that they can learn from and help each other to further
their education. The Japanese education system is also diligent throughout their secondary education
, which includes their middle and high school levels. They meticulously select what classes the
students take, to ensure that each student is taking the needed academic courses, while also
making sure they are taking an arts course. These are required because the Japanese believe that a
mix of academics and arts creates a well rounded citizen.
The Japanese education system can be categorized as industrious also because of the work ethics
that are imparted during the students years. Japan has a highly regarded school system that pushes
its students to excel. It does this by giving them the motivation to complete tasks they are given
and more. This is evident in the widely used cram school , which is instruction after the normal
school day to prepare for exams. The Japanese education

The Is A Spiritual Journey Of A Student s Education
Generativity Versus Stagnation Formation occurs in every aspect of a student s education.
Students are formed by all they do, read, perceive, and interpret. This includes their taken for
granted assumptions and expectations. Formation occurs in the gaps as one values the questions
(Benner et al., 2010) and attending during these gaps can break the habit of hearing only what we
already understand (Heidegger , 1971, p. 54). Palmer (2009) described a tragic gap, the space
between hard realities and what one knows to be possible. Transformational: Core Strength
Spirituality The transformational development from learner to leader is a spiritual journey. It is a
renewing of the mind. It is an awakening to and acceptance of multiple ways of knowing Truth. It
is a transformational process of becoming which is a singularly powerful lived experience. More
importantly, this spiritual journey is a deconstruction and reconstruction of self; it is a movement
from individualistic academic pursuit toward scholarship embodied. The process and processes by
which learners develop into leaders are critically important to advancing the global health and
education priorities of the 21st century. The globalization and interconnectedness of industry,
healthcare, and education in higher learning institutions demand the development of astute,
inspired, and effectual thought leaders. According to Boyer (1990), without the vigorous pursuit of
free and open inquiry this country simply will

Essay about Gaap and Ifrs Convergence
GAAP and IFRS Convergence
Kenneth DeWitte
Strayer University
1. Describe IFRS and GAAP and what convergence means.
The International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is the accounting framework used by the
European Union, Japan, Canada, and other world economic leaders. The IFRS is based on the
tenets of understandability, reliability, and comparability. It is based off the International
Accounting Standards (IAS) and had the opportunity to be built from accounting ideas and
principles used across the world. In recent years it also has had the chance to look at the United
States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles(GAAP) and modify the rules to enhance clarity
and consistency, intentionally setting itself apart from U.S. ... Show more content on

2. Analyze how convergence will affect public companies, accounting firms, and small and medium
companies.
I can see the convergence making life much simpler for public companies. There will now be no
need to have two sets of financial data when doing business overseas. This means less accounting
staff and saved revenue. Also there will be a level of comparability between domestic and foreign
companies that will allow for sound analysis and investing. This will lead to better decisions being
made and hopefully some growth. For smaller businesses there will not be much change other than
the change in presentation form. As for accounting firms though, there will be a need for training
as each new rule is implemented by FASB. This means a rise in the demand for accountants versed
in both GAAP and IFRS. 3. Evaluate at least three significant differences and similarities between
IFRS and GAAP and the impact these similarities and differences can have on financial statements.
Three very significant differences between the IFRS and GAAP are revenue recognition, expense
recognition, and inventory costing methods. The revenue recognition for GAAP is a broad
system having many categories, but for IFRS revenue can fall into four distinct categories. The
GAAP presentation is much clearer as to where the money is coming from. This leads to a much
easier to read format. Expense recognition for GAAP is that you would record the

Bias Against The Rom Genocide Analysis
A timeline of bias against the Roma and introduction of the genocide. In 1899 in Bavaria, an
organization was formed that was the pinnacle of targeting the Gypsies ( Gypsies 82). A little
over 20 years later, in 1922, in Baden, Germany began systematically identifying and classifying
the Roma ( Romanies 2240). This is comparable to the first and second stage of Genocide,
classification and symbolization. The Roma were called Gypsies and, as shown in ( Romanies
2240), identified by the Germans. In 1926, Bavaria passed laws that registered the Roma and
stopped them from roaming or camping in bands ( Romanies 2240). In Bavaria none were allowed
to travel in family groups or to own firearms. Those [Gypsies] over sixteen were liable for

John Smith And Pocahontas Comparison
Love and compassion merely describes the surface of the story of Pocahontas. An individual
might only be able to see Disney s version, but upon further analysis, an individual can find that
the story is much more political and not as happy as it seems. In John Smith s account of
Pocahontas, Pocahontas is a woman who falls in love with him even against her father s warnings.
He was captured and supposed to be killed. This did not happen, as Pocahontasjumped in front of
Smith to save him. This is from the account of John Smith, and for generations, most of us have
watched the movie Pocahontas and fell for its plot. Deeper into the plot, it seems that Smith saves
Jamestown and the village in which Pocahontas resides in. Although John Smith is painted as a...

This event occurred in the early 1600 s, and as many stories are passed down, the content changes.
John Smith was a self promoter, and would lie in order to maintain his image. In fact, the story of
John Smith s romance with Pocahontas was fabricated simply because Smith wanted to maintain a
positive public identity. Smith was known to be an abrasive, ambitious, self promoting mercenary
soldier by his fellow colonists. Pocahontas s name meant the naughty one, and her real name was
Matoaka. She was simply named that because it fit in with Smith s account of Pocahontas.
According to Sally Jones, some contend that the Englishman probably made up the story after
reading previously published accounts of Ortiz s ordeal. Historians believe that Smith borrowed the
account of Juan Ortiz

Queen Isabella
Queen Isabella once said, I will assume the undertaking for my own crown of Castile, and am
ready to pawn my jewels to defray the expenses of it, if the funds in the treasury should be found
inadequate. She may be most famous for funding Christopher Columbus on his expedition to the
New World, but she was so much more than the provider of that trip. She had a complicated
childhood and became a great ruler. Isabella I of Castile, was born April 22, 1451, she was half
Spanish and half Portuguese. Isabella s mother was not cared about even though Isabella s father
was of royal status. Since there was already an heir to the throne, Isabella s half brother, Enrique,
no one cared much about Isabella s birth or baptism. Isabella s childhood... Show more content on

After Alfonso s death Isabella was not sure if she would be able to rule Spain as a woman. Many
people doubted and even her herself doubted. Enrique and Alfonso were planning on arranging a
marriage for Isabella eventually, but Isabella had her interest somewhere else. Living as a
woman, Isabella wanted equality and equity for women. In the book it says, Issues that affected
women were always of particular interest to Isabella, and gender relations also colored the
perceptions of people living in Spain. All three great faiths Judaism, Christianity, and Islam
honored women in certain ways but were also patriarchal and made women second class citizens
in other significant ways. (p 22) When there was a possibility for Isabella to become queen she
wanted to truly impact the way things in her world ran. Enrique eventually accepted that
Isabella as his heir and announced it to the kingdom. Even though Isabella was often alone there
was a time where Enrique sent her to another town where Isabella was considered a stranger. In
the book, Isabella the Warrior Queen it says, It is just as likely that the marital alliance was
Enrique s attempt to remove Isabella from the direct line of succession in Castile and relocate her
to a distant land. (p 47) Luckily, Gonzalo and his nephew were around which helped her mood.

Romeo And Juliet And Tybalt s Death
If you stabbed someone in the chest and the person dies doesn t that mean you killed said
person. One Hundred percent of deaths caused by a other person is called murder. Romeo is the
cause of Tybalt s death because Romeo stabbed him, Romeo did not walk away, and Romeo acted
out of pure anger and revenge. One example that Romeo is the cause of Tybalts death because he
stabbed him. Tybalt straight took a blade to the chest from Romeo. After the death of Mercutio
Romeo got into a fight with Tybalt and ended up stabbing him. They was first fighting with swords
but then they both ended up losing them in the fight so they started using their hands. Tybalt was
on the floor while Romeo got up and found a sword and stabbed him while he was defenseless.

What Is The Mood Of The Tower Of Babel
The Tower of Babel found in Genesis 11:1 9 tells the story of humanity s movement eastward and
settling in the region of Babylon; where at that time, all the people spoke the same language. What
unfolds is their quest to build a tower that would extend high into the heavens in order to make their
name great and keep them from being scattered all over the earth. Also, the people s ingenuity is
highlighted with the process of baking bricks rather than using traditional stone. As they are
building, the LORD comes down, and views their effort as a problem; in which he proceeds to
confuse their language and scatter them all over the face of the earth. Through this short narrative,
the author communicates a profound transition between the depravity... Show more content on

First of which, Gary Schnittjer says, The human race defied God s instruction to multiply and fill
the earth because they wanted to make a name for themselves (Schnittjer 1737). God has always
been a sending God. He instructed Adam and Eve to fill the earth. He called Abraham to go to the
land he would show him so that he could be a blessing to all nations. Jesus told the disciples to wait
in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit came on them, and then they would be his witness to the ends of
the earth. Yet in the early church, what unfolds is mini Babel building. The disciples stay in
Jerusalem, perhaps not to make their name great, but they are not fulfilling God s command to go
and bless. Therefore, persecution breaks out. What can be learned from Genesis 11 and the rest of
the Bible, is the church today must give attention going and blessing rather than codling and tower
building. The church is to be sent into every neighborhood with the good news of the Gospel,
rather than only care for themselves. God s mandate has never changed since Genesis

  • 2. Rockstar Logos Rockstar is a song by Post Malone released in 2017. The song is about how rappers the current generation of rock stars because of their growing popularity. The song consists of famous rock star moments in history to show how similar they are to what is happening to rappers currently. I think the purpose of the song is mostly for entertainment, however I think that there is a hidden message about how he is starting to go down the road of being a rock star. It is not entirely pleasant however, because it can be full of drugs and death for certain individuals. The song Rockstar by Post Malone uses ethos, pathos, and logos as persuasive tools to push the message that rappers are the new rock stars of this generation and it is not entirely pleasant.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is logos because it uses historic events. People are persuaded by this because of the idea that history repeats itself. People are more open to something when they know that is has happened before, so by using history, he can get people to take him seriously. It uses ethos because the song mentions famous rock star who the listeners could identify with if they were fans of them. The line Rest in peace to Bon Scott is a tribute to the lead singer of ACDC who died of alcohol poisoning. She ask me light a fire like I m Morrison is about Jim Morrison, who was in the band The Doors, who s most popular song was Light a Fire. It even brings up a book called I m With the Band by $#$#2$#$#. Which is about the life of a rock band groupie. It uses pathos in one of the songs advertising schemes. Hs recording company, Republic Records, posted a YouTube video of a 3 minute long loop of the chorus instead of the actual song. Since the chorus was catchy, it leads people to keep listening and look up the actual song. It used the emotion of a catchy beat to get people curious about the song, kind of like a trailer for a movie. This combined with the media coverage it received because of it created a lot of views. This lead it to debut at number 2 and eventually reach number 1 extremely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Bernice Pauahi Bishop Research Paper Bernice Pauahi Bishop was a Hawaiian princess, the last direct descendant of the Royal House of Kamehameha. Her bequest endowed the Kamehameha Schools, which specialize in educating the children of native Hawaiians to this day. In 1846, Charles Reed Bishop arrived in Hawaii. The 24 year old clerk had sailed from New York en route to Oregon; after rough passage through Cape Horn, the ship put in at Honolulu for provisions. Bishop decided to wait out the winter in the Islands. He found work with local Yankee merchants, soon becoming a clerk at the U.S. consulate. He met Pauahi and soon began regularly calling on her at the Royal School. Though her family firmly reminded her of her obligation to marry Hawaiian royalty, Pauahi resisted. She was a leader in several American charitable organizations, including the Stranger s Friend Society, which aided sick travelers, and the Women s Sewing Society, which provided clothing for the poor. An accomplished contralto singer and pianist, she conducted performances of the works of Haydn and Verdi with the Amateur Musical Society, and gave music lessons at the Royal School. • 4. Chlorophyll And The Concentration Of Chlorophyll Plankton are aquatic organisms that drift throughout their environment as they posses no true motor capabilities. Within their respective aquatic habitats plankton form the productive basis of their ecosystem and are divided into two subcategories: zooplankton and phytoplankton, the later will be the primary focus of this paper. Phytoplankton, as well as other photosynthetic organisms poses pigments called chlorophyll. These pigments allow phytoplankton to convert carbon dioxide and water to oxygen and sugar, which provides the phytoplankton with energy. Due to the fact that all phytoplankton posses chlorophyll scientists have developed methods that use chlorophyll testing in order to understand more about phytoplankton as a whole. Phytoplankton posses different types of chlorophyll but scientists usually samplechlorophyll a as it is the most abundant form (YSI Environmental, Cullen 1982, Santos 2003). Several different methods have been developed to analyze the concentration of chlorophyll a. One method of analyzing chlorophyll a that has been developed is through chlorophyll extraction. In order to perform this method one must first collect a fairly large water sample (see Plankton Web citation for surface water sampling techniques). This sample must then be filtrated in order to concentrate the chlorophyll containing organisms (see Plankton Web for filtration methods). Finally mechanical rupturing of the collected cells, and extraction of the chlorophyll from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Homeland Security And Infrastructure (NPPD) When people think of Homeland Security most people think of Border Protection, Immigration agents, TSA, and maybe FEMA but there are many more aspects of Homeland Security which often get overlooked. This consolidation was intended to streamline the exchange of information and cooperative efforts towards the mission of securing this nation. This vision of cooperation has helped create a safer environment in the United States, and helped prepare emergency personnel in the detection, prevention, and response to both natural and man made disasters. • 6. Media Portrayals Of Media Affecting Women Media can be seen as a channel of communication in whereupon millions of people frequently use in their daily lives. So, with all of this technology around, how is the media portrayal of beauty affecting women? According to Cheryl J. Haas, Laura A. Pawlow. Jon Pettibone, and Dan J. Segrist, Research has shown media exposure to unattainable physical perfection is detrimental to people, especially women and that inimical effects are currently more the rule than the exception (1). When a person feels as if they do not compeer with the standard of beauty media has set, that individual develops negative emotions towards themselves which can lead to ailing eating habits including binge eating, purging, or starving. Several studies further reveal a show in a decrease of self esteem, including other psychological distress, following exposure to idealized media portrayal. Moreover, the media portrayal of beauty has a detrimental effect on the way young women perceive themselves. Media bombards our everyday life with unrealistic images and drills in our minds what the ideal girl looks like; this leads to individuals developing unhealthy habits and negative self perception based on their appearance. However, understanding media has helped in the long run. When females view images of the idealized thin woman, they often alter their eating habits in attempt to match the unrealistic photo they have witnessed. Every girl strives to be and feel beautiful. In consequence, when they see an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jonashome was very orderly and peaceful, whereas Ned s gave free will and was experiencing a time of war. Ned could decide what he wanted for his future, but Jonas had his future chosen for him. • 9. Machiavelli s The Prince And Leviathan Although misunderstood when introduced to society during their time, Niccolo Machiavelli s The Prince and Thomas Hobbes Leviathan have been two of the most influential political works in history. The Prince and Leviathan, although seen as immoral and almost wicked works of their time, have guided many political thinkers, even America s own Thomas Jefferson, on the subject of governance and power. This paper will compare the similarities and differences between both works in terms of the historical settings in which they were written as well as between the two distinct political philosophies presented by each man. More specifically, this paper will differentiate the purpose of power between Machiavelli s theory of an absolute ruler separated from morals and ethics compared to Hobbes reasoning for a necessary and absolute ruler to put an end to the chaotic state of nature he presents. Identification of Documents The Prince, written by Niccolo Machiavelli in 1513 in his native Italian language, was a book dedicated to Florence s then leader Lorenzo de Medici in an effort for Machiavelli to gain a position in Florence s new government. The book was intended to help guide Lorenzo and other present and future leaders in gaining and maintaining power, more specifically to aid Lorenzo in unifying Italy under one ruler. • 10. The Disaster Planning Or Management Although there were numerous predictions that a category 4 or 5 could hit New Orleans, very little disaster planning or management was accomplished before Katrina hit in August 2005 (Lalwani, et al., 2007, p10). After Katrina made landfall August 29th, several sections of the levee system collapsed including levees protecting the Ninth Ward (Lalwani, et al., 2007, p10). The manmade MRGO channel caused the problems it was predicted; the channel increased the power and the size of the waves that destroyed many levees (Heerden, Kemp, Bea, Shaffer, Day, Morris, Fitzgerald, and Milanes, 2009, p306). By early September, people were forcibly evacuated and the storm displaced more than 1.5 million people (Lalwani, et al., 2007, p10). According to Lalwani, et al. (2007, p10), Katrina was the most destructive and costliest natural disaster in the history of the United States, with an estimated $75 billion worth of damage. Months after the hurricane, 3,200 people were unaccounted for and many of the low lying areas, most of which were poor and minority neighborhoods, were still under water. People were stranded in their homes or at evacuation centers without food or water. Those in charge did not supply those in need with aid in a timely manner that is expected. Does immigration contribute a substantial amount to economic prosperity in industrialized countries, specifically the United States, or are they a deterrent? Throughout the years there has been a shift in people s perspectives about the contributions of immigration to their own and foreign countries. Immigrants contribute a substantial amount to the economic prosperity in industrialized countries, specifically the United States. Since the Gilded Age, countries like the United States were developed by immigrants. Spouses, children and parents of citizens may be unskilled, uneducated, and thus likely to become public charges, the bane of immigration , (Foster, 1). This argument does not make sense because if your are illegal you do not have any of the rights that citizens have, meaning they can not ask for aid due to their illegal status not being a charge to the national economy. • 12. Ronald Reagan on the 40th Anniversary of D-Day Pointe Du... Before I get to the analysis portion of this assignment, the speech I have decided to go with is former President Ronald Reagan s speech on the 40th Anniversary of D Day that was delivered at Pointe du Hoc, Normandy, France, on June 6, 1984. This is the speech I wanted to use for my analytical paper because I have always been extremely interested in World War II and anything affiliated with it. Also, I actually had two grandfathers that served in the Philippines fighting alongside American soldiers as guerilla fighters against the Japanese invaders during the war. President Reagan was the one who presented the speech but to my slight disappointment, he did not actually prepare it himself. The speech was actually written by Peggy Noonan, the primary speechwriter and special assistant to President Reagan. After reading and watching footage of the speech, I found it to be a great collaboration between the speaker and the writer. President Reagan s 40th Anniversary of D Day speech was given exactly forty years after D Day, the Normandy beach landings that took place on June 6, 1944 in Normandy, France. More specifically, he delivered the speech at Pointe du Hoc, Normandy, France where United States Army Rangers scaled the cliffs to take out German artillery emplacements that were raining shells on Omaha, Utah, Gold, Juno, and Sword beach where other Allied forces were landing. Despite the German artillery not being there once they got to the top, the artillery replaced by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

And in the time that he/she is right there in front of the door, the teacher welcome him with an eyes wide open and uttered, Did I ever fail to tell you not to enter my class if you are late even in a single minute? And the pitiful student left with nothing but a teary eyes. As you put your shoe to the students situation, what would you feel? Will you feel discouraged or will you take it as a challenge not to be late again? Supporting to that, this paper aims to appeal who are these teachers are and their effectiveness on enhancing the students learning, the pros and cons of a high standard teacher, and the feedbacks of the students once handled by a high standard teacher. To implement this study, the method to be used is by interviewing some students once handled by a high standard teacher. We will know how and what do they think and feel whenever these teachers enter to the classroom and how these happenings affect their performance on that particular subject. Education is considered as learning itself. In education, a teacher has its own way to make it profound, realistic, and a peculiar one. This may vary from person to person or from teacher to teacher. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Henry eventually gets his red badge of courage by getting hit in the head with a rifle. In Knowle s novel, the symbol is the giant tree on the Devon campus. The giant tree represents fears and obstacles of boys growing to be men. When Gene was younger the giant tree always gave him chills, because that is where his friend Finny fell and broke his leg. Finny died because of the broken leg. Gene visits Devon Boarding School around 15 years later. This time Gene is grown and in his mid thirties. Gene notices the huge tree that gave him chills when he was younger. This time when Gene saw the huge tree it seemed not as big as he expected it to be. The tree did not bring as much chills neither. It is easy to infer that the tree brought a little discomfort to him because that is where his friend broke his leg. A quote that proves the tree symbolizes fears and obstacles of boys says This was the tree, and it seemed to me standing there to resemble those men, the giants of your childhood, whom you encounter years later and find that they are not merely smaller in relation to your growth, but that they are absolutely smaller, shrunken by age. How do you balance incarnational and informational approaches to evangelism? Is there a connection? In addition, based on McRaney Chapter 8, how would the distinction between Informational and Incarnational approaches to evangelism relate to the barriers you have in witnessing? For instance, do your struggle relating to people on an incarnational level; or are you afraid on an informational level that people might ask a question that you cannot answer? The approach of this article with today evangelism deals with the counterfeit faith of some people proclaiming Jesus as their savior. However, if this faith does not show evidence by transforming their lives, then does not deserved to be called saving faith. Such transformation has to show a change on their behaviors. This does not stop there. A true Christian need to perform daily self examination of its own testimony. Another false gospel is to separate incarnational from informational apologetic. They go hand in hand as an absolute truth of Jesus Christ in evangelism. Some would have us believe that incarnational apologetic is not necessary in our society. But, they stand very far from the truth. Both incarnational and informational apologetic are interlaced and important tools for our daily life. The practical application is to be able to balance both terms in our daily life. What I m trying to say is that we should view it as a daily self examination to authentically show the love of Christ in once life. In fact, the will of God has never been that his children live under a colossal failure day by day due to this counterfeit incarnational apologetic way of leaving. On the contrary, John said, for He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). So, the connection between the two terms is very clear. • 18. The Effect Of Biofeedback On Basketball Players And Effect... 2. Background Information This study analyzes the use of biofeedback in basketball players and the effect on their on court performance. Athletes need to have the capability to modify, learn, and correct their muscle memory. Enhancing an athlete s performance depends on the ability for the central and peripheral nervous systems to communicate in response to an active stimulus. This study has some variables measured including the reaction time: the time between the stimulus and a bodily movement; the movement time: the time taken in the middle of the onset and completion of the bodily movement; and the response time: the aggregate time of the reaction and movement. There have been previous studies that look at the use of Electromyographic Biofeedback (EMG BFB) and Electroencephalographic Biofeedback (EEG BFB) and found correlations between improvement in performance and responsiveness to stimuli. However, there has not been an analysis of the use of Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback (HRV BFB) which measures an increase in the response time and attention deficit in athletes. The most important aspect of an athlete s performance is the ability to tune out outside disturbances during a game or match. If an athlete can master that skill, then they can perform at their optimum output. Having the ability to enhance their techniques is important for achievement in sports, especially in basketball, where there are a multitude of offensive and defensive skills. Most notably, ... From studying for exams to getting my drivers license, procrastination always took over my responsibilities. While it was a terrible habit to have, I was able to bounce back from my stupid mistakes back in high school. This, unfortunately, was not the same story in college. In my first quarter at UCSB, I vowed to change my nasty habits of procrastinating on all my responsibilities. Throughout the course of the quarter, I was doing fairly fine; getting decent grades on exams, doing my homework, and even finishing readings before they were due. While I was doing better than I expected, it was primarily due to the fact that I was fairly dedicated to my work, and not that I was managing my time any better than I did in high school. In other words, I was still procrastinating, but the topics were not yet too difficult to truly affect my GPA. That is, until my first finals came around. One thing that future first year students need to understand is that finals weeks is not just one week; the grind starts on week ten, otherwise known as dead week . This is one bit of information that did not come across to me on my first attempt at my college finals. The WorldCom fraudresulted in a $9 billion restatement, which is the largest in history. WorldCom s fraudulent reporting totaled over $11 billion over a period of 5 years (Rockness, p.39) It started initially by using reserves to absorb expenses. When the reserves ran out, a variety of fraudulent accounting activities were used to enhance the company s revenue and decrease expenses. According to Anderton (2008: 322), An oligopolistic market is one where a small number of interdependent firms compete with each other . For this assignment I ve chosen to focus on the UK super market industry as there is clear evidence that the UK supermarket sector is increasingly dominated by four main firms. An illustrating example of the big chains competing with each other is Brand Match . This idea, developed by Sainsbury s in an effort to compete with Asda s low and very competitive prices, was replicated in all the other major supermarkets after it was noticed and obvious that this was a successful way to attract customers. Morrison s, taking the concept substantially further, launched a Match and More card, offering to credit the difference in points if you would have paid less for your shopping at Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, Sainsbury s or Asda. A solution, universally favored by each, to distinguish themselves from one another and thus attempt to assert a level of dominance within the marketplace, has been the development of their own premium range of food. A brand within a brand. This is seen, with obvious success, in Sainsbury s Taste the Difference . The Taste the Difference range is competing very well with even the higher end companies like Waitrose and Marks Spencer s. To go one step further each supermarket also has a more economic range, marketed towards the thrifty shopper. Once again using Sainsbury s as an example we can see that the value brand within a brand would be the Sainsbury s Basics which successfully competes with discount chains such as Aldi and Lidl. Treatment of veterans with SUDs and co occurring psychiatric disorders is one of the following three paradigms; parallel, sequential, and integrated. Many SUD PTSD veterans may be unable to navigate the separate systems or make sense of the disparate messages about PTSD treatment and recovery. [But] she will run off with some lion tamer; she will marry a circus man [when she has the chance] (James, Bostonians 206). So when Mrs. Burrage wants to propose Verena for her son, Olive feels she must defend her attachment to Verena and, taking a superior tone, becomes hostile toward Mrs. Burrage: You do believe though you pretend you don t that I control her actions, and as far as possible her desires and that I am jealous of any other relations she may possibly form (James, Bostonians 312). Olive puts herself as the guardian or caretaker for Verena and this is not her real role; it is the role of Verena s father. It is the patriarchal role Olive wants to play. Hence Olive Chancellor represents the true believer of the feminist right to replace man s patriarchal role in family and in society at large. She herself plays it with Verena Tarrant. • 38. Analysis Of The Exorcist By Stephen King With the development of our society, the ideas and concepts of lots of things have been changed. Feminist s act is an important hallmark on our path to improve our society. But stereotypes against the role of female could still be found in many literatures. Looking back into our history, the appearance of women has been always weak and helpless in different time period, compare to man. Although, people s attitude towards women has been advancing, but there is still a space for improvements and developments. Therefore, individuals must challenge their own false impression regarding the role of female, if our society were to truly abridge the gap between genders. For example, there are some literatures demonstrating sexism perfectly. In Christine, Stephen King illustrates a car that processes the personality of a woman, which often turns violent, driven by envy and wrath; The Exorcist creates the character of Regan, which satisfy the public s expectation of the weak and helpless; and Draculais a classic vampirestory, where the author emphatically deprecates the woman s status in the common society. Overall, by comparing with these three novels, the authors have used some specific opinions to enhance the issue of feminism. The authors of Christine, The exorcist and Dracula are considered as sexist writers from the portrayal of Leigh Cabot, Regan and Lucy Westenra s characterization. They often portray the figure of female in a discriminative way, debase and objectify women in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mence of Dengue Menace of Dengue Dengue is an arbovirus disease caused by any one of four closely related viruses that do not provide cross protective immunity; a person can be infected as many as four times, once with each serotype. Dengue viruses are transmitted from person to person by the Aedes aegypti mosquito in the domestic environment. Periodic epidemics have occurred in the Western Hemisphere for over 200 years. In the past 20 years, however, dengue transmission and frequency of epidemics have increased greatly in most tropical countries of the American, African and Asian region. As this has occurred, dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) has emerged and produced epidemics in many countries of the region. What is Dengue? The first reported epidemics of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reasons: The transmission of the virus to mosquitoes must be interrupted to prevent the illness. To this end, patients are kept under mosquito netting until the second bout of fever is over and they are no longer contagious. The prevention of dengue requires control or eradication of the mosquitoes carrying the virus that causes dengue. In nations plagued by dengue fever, people are urged to empty stagnant water from old tires, trash cans, and flower pots. Governmental initiatives to decrease mosquitoes also help to keep the disease in check but have been poorly effective. To prevent mosquito bites, wear long pants and long sleeves. For personal protection, use mosquito repellant sprays that contain DEET when visiting places where dengue is endemic. There are no specific risk factors for contracting dengue fever, except living in or traveling to an area where the mosquitoes and virus are endemic. Limiting exposure to mosquitoes by avoiding standing water and staying indoors two hours after sunrise and before sunset will help. The Aedes aegypti mosquito is a daytime biter with peak periods of biting around sunrise and sunset. It may bite at any time of the day and is often hidden inside homes or other dwellings, especially in urban areas. There is currently no vaccination available for dengue fever. Additionally, peppermint was shown to produce a significant improvement in the quality of memory when compared to the control and ylang ylang group (Moss et al., 2008). These crater like volcanoes are quite an uncommon occurrence, although they are not unique to just the Galapagos. However, the unusual part of these calderas is their size, especially compared to their relation to the size of the volcano. Calderas form after a collapse of a magma chamber located under the surface. The magma in these chambers give support to the volcano, but after the magma withdraws, the surrounding rock becomes unsupported and cannot bear the weight above them, and therefore they collapse. These calderas do not form in just one collapse; they slowly grow after many collapses. This was proven after a partial collapse of the caldera on Fernandina in 1968, as part of the crater dropped nearly 200 meters. Several other smaller collapses have occurred on Fernandina as well as other islands since the collapse in 1968. These calderas can also be refilled with magma, partially or all the way, and then reform. An example of this is Isla Marchena, located in the northeast, which has nearly been filled all the way with lava. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The people of Japan work carefully to be successful in school, excel in the workplace, and to keep traditions in practice, and that is why the Japanese are industrious. The term industrious can describe Japan s education system for a few of reasons. The foremost reason is that Japan is diligent when educating their students. During primary education, what Americans consider elementary education, the students are grouped into four person teams. In each group, the students are paired by strengthens and weaknesses, in hopes that they can learn from and help each other to further their education. The Japanese education system is also diligent throughout their secondary education , which includes their middle and high school levels. They meticulously select what classes the students take, to ensure that each student is taking the needed academic courses, while also making sure they are taking an arts course. These are required because the Japanese believe that a mix of academics and arts creates a well rounded citizen. The Japanese education system can be categorized as industrious also because of the work ethics that are imparted during the students years. The IFRS is based on the tenets of understandability, reliability, and comparability. It is based off the International Accounting Standards (IAS) and had the opportunity to be built from accounting ideas and principles used across the world. I can see the convergence making life much simpler for public companies. There will now be no need to have two sets of financial data when doing business overseas. This means less accounting staff and saved revenue. Also there will be a level of comparability between domestic and foreign companies that will allow for sound analysis and investing. This will lead to better decisions being made and hopefully some growth. For smaller businesses there will not be much change other than the change in presentation form. As for accounting firms though, there will be a need for training as each new rule is implemented by FASB. This means a rise in the demand for accountants versed in both GAAP and IFRS. 3. Evaluate at least three significant differences and similarities between IFRS and GAAP and the impact these similarities and differences can have on financial statements. Three very significant differences between the IFRS and GAAP are revenue recognition, expense recognition, and inventory costing methods. The revenue recognition for GAAP is a broad system having many categories, but for IFRS revenue can fall into four distinct categories.
