TEACHER IN DIGITAL ERA
The role of teachers has changed from the past to the present. In the past, teachers were seen as the sole source of knowledge and authority figures, while now they take on facilitator, supporter, and advisor roles. As technology and information access has increased, teachers are expected to develop students' skills, understand individual needs, and continually expand their own knowledge base. The ideal 21st century teacher will be understanding, well-prepared in their subject and teaching methods, able to facilitate both classroom and online learning effectively, and open to students' needs in a changing digital world.

Understanding Transformation and Linking Technology to Student Learning
This presentation demonstrates our district’s professional development process for technology that is based on a district technology grant process. It will include the research behind the vision that I used to establish our goals for technology. I will share the continuum for learning as well as the teacher reflections throughout the process. Last, I will share how our technology integration is linked to student learning and has developed teacher leaders. This has been a 6-year process and shows how our teachers transformed from using a PC lab environment to a personalized learning environment.

Twenty-five tools are listed that allow students to create content, curate information from the web, and collaborate with others. Popular free tools include Google Apps, Prezi, Storybird, and Piktochart which enable creation of documents, presentations, stories, and infographics. These tools are appropriate for a range of ICT skill levels and can be integrated at different stages of the teaching and learning process.
