This document outlines a unit on migration that includes 7 learning outcomes. It describes activities for students to research types of migration, factors influencing migration using maps and videos. Students will debate and write about effects of population movement on society and economies in and outside the Caribbean in a discussion forum. They will examine implications of population movement for development planning and survey migration policies of two Caribbean migrant host countries. Assessments include a concept map, blog, wiki, editorial, and discussion forum comment evaluating factors of and impacts from migration.

• Within a discussion forum debate the effects of population movements on the society and
economy of a selected country (a) inside and (b) outside the Caribbean region. (Write a news
article)
• Explain and assess the social and economic impact of migration on (a) donor and (b) host
countries.
• Examine the various implications of population movement for developmental planning by
governments.
• Survey the migration policies of at least TWO host countries of Caribbean migrants.
