3. Rough sketches
The masthead head will be from
the top left corner at the top of the
page going across. I did this
because it is clearly visible.
The main image will be the main
focal point of my magazine and will
be place in the centre of the page
or will be the biggest image to show
it is the main focus.
The barcode will be at the bottom
of the page so that it will be visible
for the audience to scan the
barcode to pay for it.
The cover stories will be down the
side of the magazine so that it
doesn’t take the attention away
from the main image.
The strapline is placed in the
masthead, it is a catchy slogan
4. The main image will be the main
focal point of my double page
spread and will be place in the
centre of the page.
The stand first is above the the
main image so that they can see the
introductory about the story.
The drop capital makes the page
more appealing to view.
The headline will be at the top for
the reader to know what the article
is about.
The page number is at the bottom
of the page to indicate what page
you’re on, to then later on go back
and read that page again.
5. Final sketches
The front cover shows I would have the masthead clearly at the top. With the main image being in the centre of the
page so everyone knows that the person on the front is the focal point of the magazine. My headline will be in the
middle of the image also buy around the artists neck area so that it is at a point on the page that you can clearly see the
artists name and the main headline.
The DPS shows will have the masthead at the top of the page to the left. This then allows the audience to become more
aware with the logo and that is why I wanted to include the masthead within my double page spread. I'm going to
implement a stand first in it as well, as a stand first is where you put the headline of the double page spread. I'm going
to separate the image and interview. Putting the image on one side and the interview on the other.
6. House style
The colour scheme of Mixer magazine is red, black and grey. I think that these
three colours contrast well together and will bring out the best of my magazine.
These three colours connote bold, big and startling colours which I think that will
bring out the best of my magazine when put on the shelves and when people see
the magazine, they will instantly want to buy it.
8. Masthead ideas
Here are some of the ideas that
I came up with for my masthead
name ideas. They are all music
related and short so that the
audience can remember it. The
masthead name that I chose in
the end was Mixer.
9. Images of influence
This image was my main image of influence. When
making my magazine I tried to implement as much as I
could from the magazine of influence into my
magazine.
11. Draft articles
1. Hello Harry, how are you?
I’m very good, thank you, how are you?
2. Yes I am good to thank you for asking. To start off, I hear that you’re bringing out a debut album?
Yes, indeed I am, it’s called “H” and it’s going to be a major hit and I think this is really going to kick start my career. It’s got some great songs on there
that I think a lot of people are going to love. There are also features from major artists from the R&B industry.
3. What’s the best part about being such a massive artist?
I guess it’s the support from the crowd and your fans that really gets you going as an artist. Once they’ve shown that they’re interested your music you
can really kick start your music career and start to produce more music, for example, my new album. Meeting the fans is also a big part in your rise to
fame, as they are the ones that are supporting you the whole way through. I remember one time, I had offered VIP tickets to one of my shows and I
had a couple of children come back stage and I had greeted them. One of them had Cerebral Palsy and the other had just been diagnosed with cancer.
My heart sunk as soon as I heard the story and the only way I could thank them was by giving them VIP tickets to my world tour and an all inclusive stay
at the Hotel that I’m also going to be staying at.
4. I just heard you say that you’re going to be touring the world in the major cities, please tell us more?
Yes, I want to tour the world, go to the massive cities and perform for the people that support my music. I feel that touring the world will allow me to
explore the world not just as apart of my music but personally, taking in loads of ideas that I could use for a next album. Touring the world will
obviously be a surreal experience and I am pleasured that arenas are available for me to do my tour and show to the people of the world what I can
offer when I’m performing.
5. What inspired you to start a singing career?
Umm… I guess it was the fact that when I was younger I saw many R&B artists doing their thing on stage or in their music videos and this inspired me to
get up and start my career as an artist. I felt I could put my own style onto my music if I were to start my singing career, with the tracks that are on my
album I believe this has shown why I started my career.
6. Are there any famous artists you admire?
Yes, there are I admire many artists but I think the one that stands out to me is Drake. I feel that he is a lot of younger peoples favourite artists and I
feel that to me he is my inspiration, as one day I want to achieve what he has achieved. If I were to get even a percentage of what he achieved I would
be very thankful and blessed, but my aim is to be known world wide for music and known as a public figure also.
14. Test photography
These images are just three of the images that my
photographer took. These were the best three in my opinion.
With the white background it made it easier for me.
15. Prop list
The only prop that I used was a camera and that came to a cost of £356.50. The
camera is the only piece of equipment that I used as they’re wearing the clothes of
their choice and we are going to find somewhere where it has a white wall. As it is
then easier to edit the photo.
16. Production plan
My magazine will be published at the beginning of January 2017 (January 1st) because
it is the start of a new year and it is the start of something new for me and the making
of my magazines through the year.
17. Resources needed
I am going to need a lot of resources for my new office as it is currently empty. The
image on the right indicates the different pieces of equipment that I am going to need
in the office for the designing and I need all of this stuff so that we can all work. The
image on the left shows the members of staff that I need to get in order for the
magazine to be put together. Next to each equipment and staff it shows how much
they are going to cost and how much they’re going to cost a year on the staffs salary.
18. Conclusion
Each slide on the presentation is a key factor that will need to be implemented
into my magazine in order to make it one of the best magazines created.
The first two slides are me analysing my rough and final sketches for both
magazine and DPS. This is because it gives myself a rough idea of what I want my
magazine to look like when creating it in Photoshop. Having an idea of what I'm
going to do will reduce the time spent on creating the magazine as you have set
out everything that you are going to put into the magazine.
The test photography slide gives you an insight into what images my photographer
was taking during our photoshoot. I only sampled a couple of the many images he
took but they were the three that I were going to in the end choose from.
