Urban Development Inc. would be a single focused company to channel corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds towards addressing major urban development issues in India like access to drinking water, sanitation, pollution control, and planned development. It would function as an implementation body for various ministries and municipal corporations. CSR funds from large companies would be its main source of funding, estimated at 120 billion rupees annually. This would help mobilize investments towards improving civic amenities and infrastructure in cities. Some challenges around conflicts over policies and funds between different bodies would need to be addressed, but overall Urban Development Inc. aims to provide an effective platform for utilizing CSR to create world-class cities.

Agriculture in India is at a crossroads and major challenge of the policy makers is to reverse the
trend of deceleration in agricultural growth which is directly associated with the declining of public investment
in agricultural research and development, fragmentation of holdings, lack of infrastructure and structured
markets, outdated technology and inappropriate input pricing policies of the government. The crisis of
agricultural stagnation needs immediate attention and treatment on the part of planners and policy makers.
Recognizing the continuous deceleration of agricultural growth, the present study attempts to analysis the trend
and growth of flow of credit to agriculture after 1991in India. The study based on secondary sources of data
compile from several sources, revealed that structure of credit outlets has witnessed a significant change and
commercial banks have emerged as the major source of institutional credit to agriculture in recent years, but
the declining share of investmental credit in total credit may constrain the sustainable growth of agriculture in
India. The situation calls for concrete efforts to augment the flow of credit to agriculture, alongside to exploring
the new innovations in the farming practices, product design and methods of delivery through better use of
technology and related processes. Facilitating credit through processor, NGOโs and input dealers that are
vertically integrated with farmers for providing them critical inputs or processing their produce, could increase
the credit flow to agriculture significantly.

Dhaka is one of the fastest growing cities but also faces high poverty, poor infrastructure, and environmental challenges from climate change. ChristianAid aims to strengthen livelihoods, advocacy, and social protection for marginalized groups like Dalits, who suffer discrimination. The presented project seeks to document Dalits' socioeconomic conditions, enhance their rights awareness and participation, and establish community organizations to meet their needs and defend human rights. Collaboration with government, civil society, and corporations through CSR programs could help address structural inequities facing urban poor communities in Bangladesh.
[Urban Management Program City Paper : Rajshahi City, Bangladesh]
Rajshahi is the fourth largest city in Bangladesh located in the northern region. It has a population of around 475,000 people and gained status as a City Corporation in 1987. There are several development agencies working in Rajshahi with overlapping responsibilities including the Rajshahi City Corporation, Rajshahi Development Authority, and others. The first master plan for Rajshahi was developed in 1968 by the Urban Development Directorate and the most recent plan called the Rajshahi Metropolitan Development Plan was prepared in 2004. This plan took a GIS-based, tiered approach to development. However, challenges remain around coordination between agencies, adequate infrastructure and services, and attracting more investment and development to the city.

As per Global Liveability Index rankings released in 2019, by Economic Intelligence Unit, two major cities of India Delhi and Mumbai, found itself slipping in the rankings. It measures the living conditions in 140 cities. It is the direct result of Urban Planning and Development. Urban Planning is a professional way of developing urban areas by making physical plans and development regulations. Urban Planning is a combination of social, economic, environmental, and constructive efforts to make an urban dwelling a good, healthy place to live, work, and to move around. It was done to ease the negative physical and social effects on people that arose with the industrial revolution, particularly in urban areas. Urban local bodies or local governments implement urban development strategies. Urban Local Bodies are elected by the people. Planning and development for major cities and urban regions are done by urban metropolitan regional development authorities. These authorities are functionaries institutions under the state government. On the state government level, urban planning and development administration is administered by the State Town Planning Act and other relevant legal frameworks of each state. Currently, all states have ministries responsible for urban planning, urban development, housing, and governance. Spatial plans need to be accounted for to address issues on integrated land connectivity, landfills, urban drainage networks, land requirements, and a range of related urban complexities.Without spatial plans, it is extremely difficult to completely address the issues plaguing infrastructure in Indian cities. Impact Assessment โข Impact to be assessed on additional investments generated via channeling of CSR โข Current CSR investments according to Company Bill norms by top 1000 corporations in India is INR 120 billion per year โข According to a study by CII, India needs to invest USD 70 billion on water supply and sewage between 2011-20 โข CSR investments over the next 10 years (taking into account an assumed total uniform increase of 200% CSR investment) will be USD 30 billion which amounts to, for example, 42% of required investments on water supply and sewage Future Cities 6

Challenges and Mitigation Future Cities 7 Challenges โข There might be conflicts between the Centre and State Governments as well as between two State Governments regarding the policy โข There might be a conflict of funds by various organizations. Since, currently certain functions are conducted by parallel bodies for example, between Central Pollution Control Board and UDI โข Attaining uniformity in terms of implementation โข Resistance from people regarding the penalties imposed on them Mitigation โข UDI will have a strong constitution with concrete and detailed policies โข The policies would be framed with an effort to have minimum interference with existing organizations and policies โข Amicable means would be used to settle disputes and spread more awareness โข A positive campaign of the penalties would be promoted to cause awareness of the fact that the funds are being used for their own benefit
