Dr. Silas Blackstock has developed a new approach called redox-auxiliary (RA) catalysis that appends a redox unit to a reaction site to trigger electron transfer and chemical reactions electronically. This new technology allows reactions to occur at lower temperatures without requiring products to be stronger oxidants than reactants. It also makes RA reactions triggerable electronically. Dr. Blackstock, a professor with over 50 publications, is the inventor of this new redox-auxiliary catalysis technology being developed at the University of Alabama.
