 “listening is a process of receiving and reacti
ng to the message received from communica
tion sender.”
 The receiver should carefully listen to the feel
the pulse of sender,to understand more and r
eaction,which allows freedom of expression t
o speakers.
 Different situation require different of listening.
WHAT IS LISTENING?:
TYPES OF LISTENING:
 Relationship listening
 Informative listening
 With care and criticism listening
 Appreciative listening
 Discriminative listening
 Sympathetic listening
 Empathy listening
 Therapeutic listening
 The purpose of relationsahip listening is eithe
r to help an individual or to improve the relati
on ship among people.
 Therapeutic listening is special type of relatio
nship listening.
Therapeutic listening:
 Therapeutic listening brings to mind those sit
uation where consellors,medical personals,or
other can be used when you listen to friend o
r acquaintance and allow them to “get things
of that chest.”
RELATIONSHIP LISTENING:
RELATIONSHIP LISTENING:
 Informative listening is known in which we giv
e to the siution where the listeners primary c
oncern is to understand the message.
 Informative listening is done for get the imfor
mation in different ways. Like wise listening i

oom.

nly aggression or misunderstanding.

ional listening ….
 Vocabulary

 Memory
 Knowing these variables can help
you improve your informative
listening skills; that is, you wipp b ecome increasing
ly sucessful in understanding what the speakers me
ans.
 The ability to listen critically is essential in democracy.
 On the job community, at service club, in part of works
hop at this place critical listening is important.
 Financial, emotional, physical, spiritual need reqiures us
to place a premium on listening and thinking that accom
panies it.
WITH CARE AND CRITICISM LISTENING:
 Appreciative lostening includes listening to m
usic for enjoyment, two speakers beacuse yo
u like their style, in theaters, television ,radio
or films.
 It response of listener, not the source of mes
sage, that defines this types of listening.
 Which provides appreciative listening for one
person may provide something else other.
APPRECIATIVE LISTENING:
APPRECIATIVE LISTENING:
 This type of listening is final type of listening.
 It can be the most important type, because it is basi
c of other for.
 Because of this types of listening we can sensing i
mpact of certain response, relation listening can be
ensolidated.
 By being sensitive to change the speaker’s rate, vol
ume, force, pitch, and meanig of difference in mean
ing.
DISCRIMINATIVE LISTENING:
 In this types of listening we care about the ot
her person and show these concern in the w
ay we colse attention and express our sorrow
their event vand happiness at that joys.
SYMPATHIC LISTENING:
 This types of listening include paying attentio
n to other person with empathy.
 An excellent techniqe to help one to do this is
called active listening whereby you repeat ba
ck to person what you think she or he said to
make certain you understand.
 Empathy is not sympathy.
 Sympathy is feeling for someone, empathy is
feeling as someone.
EMPATHIC LISTENING:
 The most important issue about empathic list
ening in classroom seating is when to use it.
 When we listening empirically, we go beyond
sympathy, to seek a truer understand how ot
hers are feeling.
 This requires excellent discrimination and cl
ose attention to emotional singnals. Whem w
e are truly emphatic we actually feel what the
ir feeling are.
