It defines social media as a two-way communication medium that allows users to interact with each other by sharing content, comments, and participating in online communities. Some popular social media sites mentioned are Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn. The document also notes that social media usage is highest among those under age 40 and its growth on mobile devices has removed barriers to access. However, increased social media use has also led to growing cyber crimes that target children.
Social Media and Mobile Internet Use Among Teens And Young AdultsJulius Trujillo

Social Media in the Middle East 2022: A Year in ReviewDamian Radcliffe
Welcome to the latest annual study on Middle East Social Media Trends. This report, the eleventh in a series dating back to 2012, provides an in-depth analysis of the current state of social media in the Middle East. As the most comprehensive and up-to-date study of its kind, it is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in the region's digital landscape.
In this report, we examine the most popular social media platforms and the ways in which people are using them. We explore the impact of social media on politics, business and culture in the region. Our findings will be of interest to anyone interested in how social media shapes the way we connect with one another, as well as the ways in which we consume and find information. These trends are relevant to marketers, journalists, brands and businesses, as well as government agencies and public bodies.
Over the past decade, the Middle East has seen a significant increase in social media adoption. Today, it boasts some of the highest penetration rates of social media in the world, making it a key market for platforms and businesses looking to engage with Arab audiences.
From staying in touch with friends and family to consuming news and entertainment, social media - as it is around the world - is an integral part of daily life in the region. Social media is also playing an increasingly important role in politics, with many politicians and activists using the platforms to connect with the public and mobilize support for their policies.
Usage of Social Media on Phones in IndiaPALLAV GROVER
This document summarizes a student project on the nature of social media use in mobile phones in India. It conducted a survey of 38 respondents which found that most youth aged 18-20 access social media daily via their mobile phones rather than computers. WhatsApp and Facebook were the most popular apps used. The shift to mobile is driven by factors like affordability, accessibility, and easy interface of apps on phones.
The document summarizes key statistics about internet and social media usage globally and in emerging markets. It finds that internet and mobile adoption is growing faster in emerging markets like Africa and Asia than elsewhere. These regions also have more engaged social media users and lower online advertising spend. The document recommends that global businesses divert some of their online ad spending to capitalize on the growth in emerging markets where they will see a higher return on investment.

Sysomos conducted an extensive study analyzing data from 11.5 million Twitter accounts to document Twitter's growth and how people use it. They found that over 72.5% of users joined in 2009, with most users posting less than once per day and having fewer than 100 followers. While most users are inactive, the top 5% of users generate 75% of all Twitter activity. The study also examined geographic user data and differences between regular users and social media marketers.

The document provides an in-depth analysis of Twitter usage based on a study of 11.5 million Twitter accounts. Some of the key findings include: 1) 72.5% of Twitter users joined in 2009, with heavy growth in March and April, 2) A small group of only 5% of users generate 75% of all Twitter activity, 3) The majority (85.3%) of users post less than once per day, with more active users having more followers. Location data also showed which cities had the most users.

The document discusses 5 common social media fails including posting too frequently without thought, repetitive promotional posts, excessive requests to share posts, lack of strategic alignment with the target audience, and having many followers without engaging them. It advises pacing social media updates, using promotions sparingly and reciprocating favors before asking for shares. It emphasizes the importance of understanding one's audience and having engaged followers over a large following.
Social media can be tricky for sports teams to utilize effectively. The document provides ideas for how teams can use various social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Google+, and YouTube to engage with existing and potential fans. It suggests responding to fan queries on Twitter, using hashtags to promote events, sharing historical team content and polls on Facebook, tailoring content for different fan groups on Google+, and uploading videos to YouTube to increase discoverability. Examples are given of teams like Manchester United, the Los Angeles Lakers, women's soccer teams, and the Vancouver Canucks that effectively use social media.

5th LF Energy Power Grid Model Meet-up SlidesDanBrown980551
5th Power Grid Model Meet-up
It is with great pleasure that we extend to you an invitation to the 5th Power Grid Model Meet-up, scheduled for 6th June 2024. This event will adopt a hybrid format, allowing participants to join us either through an online Mircosoft Teams session or in person at TU/e located at Den Dolech 2, Eindhoven, Netherlands. The meet-up will be hosted by Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), a research university specializing in engineering science & technology.
Power Grid Model
The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.
What to expect
For the upcoming meetup we are organizing, we have an exciting lineup of activities planned:
-Insightful presentations covering two practical applications of the Power Grid Model.
-An update on the latest advancements in Power Grid -Model technology during the first and second quarters of 2024.
-An interactive brainstorming session to discuss and propose new feature requests.
-An opportunity to connect with fellow Power Grid Model enthusiasts and users.

Introduction of Cybersecurity with OSS at Code Europe 2024Hiroshi SHIBATA
I develop the Ruby programming language, RubyGems, and Bundler, which are package managers for Ruby. Today, I will introduce how to enhance the security of your application using open-source software (OSS) examples from Ruby and RubyGems.
The first topic is CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures). I have published CVEs many times. But what exactly is a CVE? I'll provide a basic understanding of CVEs and explain how to detect and handle vulnerabilities in OSS.
Next, let's discuss package managers. Package managers play a critical role in the OSS ecosystem. I'll explain how to manage library dependencies in your application.
I'll share insights into how the Ruby and RubyGems core team works to keep our ecosystem safe. By the end of this talk, you'll have a better understanding of how to safeguard your code.

Webinar: Designing a schema for a Data WarehouseFederico Razzoli
Are you new to data warehouses (DWH)? Do you need to check whether your data warehouse follows the best practices for a good design? In both cases, this webinar is for you.
A data warehouse is a central relational database that contains all measurements about a business or an organisation. This data comes from a variety of heterogeneous data sources, which includes databases of any type that back the applications used by the company, data files exported by some applications, or APIs provided by internal or external services.
But designing a data warehouse correctly is a hard task, which requires gathering information about the business processes that need to be analysed in the first place. These processes must be translated into so-called star schemas, which means, denormalised databases where each table represents a dimension or facts.
We will discuss these topics:
- How to gather information about a business;
- Understanding dictionaries and how to identify business entities;
- Dimensions and facts;
- Setting a table granularity;
- Types of facts;
- Types of dimensions;
- Snowflakes and how to avoid them;
- Expanding existing dimensions and facts.
