With the Navigator Express’ 2020 first quarter issue, we start the issue with Everything AUXAIR in a diagramed graphic design format created by our Navigator Express Layout/Design Editor Andrew Niquette. This technique will be applied to articles about our Auxiliary specialties using this creative informative format. Next the history of Air Station San Francisco as it transitioned from fixed wing aircraft to an all Helicopter station using currently the M 65-D Dolphin Helicopters in high visibility safety orange. There is an article with tips on aerial photography from a fixed wing Cessna 172 similar to many owned and flown by AUXAIR aviation specialists and used by qualified AUXAIR crews and observers, as well as a platform for AUXPA photographers. We end our AUXAIR feature theme with the amazing interview story of and by Cmdr. “Bill” Burns, Jet Jock to AUXAIR Crew Trainee. We continue with new features and changes in the issue in layout design that include articles in every issue on Auxiliary Food Services, Sea Scouts, AUX Fitness, Navigator’s Corner and Scuttlebutt. They’re inserts describing, about the Auxiliary and the programs we participate in, and exciting photography and articles reflecting our efforts to cover a broad base of topics. We strive for geo-diversity in our articles to illuminate the national diversity of our Auxiliary membership and missions.
In 2011, the WaterSports Foundation (WSF) was awarded a USCG non-profit grant entitled Increasing the Awareness of Safe Boating Practices. Now in its sixth year, WSF’s outreach campaign is designed to heighten the public’s awareness of safer boating and paddling practices through four outreach grants.
The campaigns utilize boating/paddling media as the conduit to reach boaters and paddlers. The FY16 goal is to reach more than 46 million boaters/paddlers with qualified safety messages. The project now utilizes nine well-known boating and paddle sports media outlets to reach more boaters and paddlers than ever. Safety messages are delivered in both print and digital media. Content is produced as print ads, print editorial, radio content, radio advertising, digital newsletters, newsletter banner ads, website banner ads, boating safety articles, video shorts, photos, social media posts, boating safety quizzes, and specially produced alternative ending webisodes. WSF distributes other safety organizations safety messages, at no charge, through its Cross-Pollination program.
Current partners include NSBC, NASBLA, ABYC, ACA, US Power Squadrons, USCG Auxiliary, Energy Education Council, Sea Tow, Sea Scouts, Army Corps of Engineers, US PowerBoating, SPIN and US Sailing.
Since 2011, WSF has been awarded more than $4.6 million in non-profit grants and as of December 2016, the campaign has produced more than 498 million safe boating and paddling impressions.

Pasig River Rehabilitation: A Multi-Sectoral ApproachMichael Rubio
This presentation was delivered (with transitions and video) at the YouthLEAD Conference in Baguio City, September 2014. It shares how the ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation through its program "Kapit Bisig Para sa Ilog Pasig" took leadership in reinvigorating the efforts of rehabilitating the Pasig River, leading to the transformation of the pilot tributary: Estero de Paco in the City of Manila, Philippines.
An astonishing, first-of-its-kind, report by the NYT assessing damage in Ukraine. Even if the war ends tomorrow, in many places there will be nothing to go back to.
