What do in house to achieve a smooth running pump for you:
Here in our Alloa Works in Scotland we have a workshop called the High Integrity Pump Cell. In
which we have a team of specialists who are highly trained in these types of units. They follow
this tried and tested methodology, working to Customer approved Quality Plans:
• Initial condition assessment
• Total dissassembly, on our bespoke specially designed rigs
• Calcium (soft) blasting, to remove surface corrosion, scale & magnetite deposits
• 100% dimensional survey
• 100% running clearance survey
• Surface finish survey
• PMI examination
• NDT examination
• Electrical & Mechanical run out tests
When the unit is ready to be assembled, we then call on our in house machine shop to perform the following
steps:
• Skimming of pump rotating element
• Dynamic balancing (full rotating element with an average mass of 750kgs), balancing to a balance grade
of G1 (18ton capacity)
• Vertical bored (3’, 4’, 5’, 10’ & 24’) to ensure stationary component centre line and machining are
concentric and accurate
Once everything has been machined and thoroughly cleaned & inspected, the components are returned to
our High Integrity Pump Cell for final checks and assembly by our team of specialists. Where they work to
another Quality Plan to ensure the unit is assembled to the highest Quality standards.

5. Submersible Motors & Pumps

Submersible Motors & Pumps:
Based on the same overhaul methodology as The High
Integrity Pump Cell, we can totally strip down,
overhaul, manufacture spares, balance, assemble and
performance test submersible motors and pumps.
Full re-cores and rewinds to original specifications is
an ability that we are very proud of.
The Motors can be subjected to the following tests:
• Megger,
• Flash,
• Resistance,
• Temperature measurement
• No load & full performance tests to BSEN60034.
The performance tests are carried out to replicate site
conditions and can be witnessed remotely through our
online test portal.
We also, hold overhauled motors and pumps to be
called off within 24 hours, should the need arise to
fully support our customers.

6. Valves & Actuators

Valve & Actuator Workshop.
On site we have a dedicated valve and actuator workshop, in which we
overhaul the following:
• Safety valves
• Isolation valves
• Control valves
• Pneumatic, electrical & hydraulic actuators
• Torsion bar hysteresis
We can test our overhauled valves on our bespoke test rig, operating
to pressures up to 10,000 p.s.i. and with the addition of our actuator
test rig we offer a full flow control solution to our customers.

7. Test Facility

During 2020 we are undertaking a major upgrade of our existing
in House Test Facility. The main well has a depth of 10m, and
can hold 550m ³ of test medium.
• Test beds – surface mounted & wet well
• Cooling package to absorb 1,250kW
• Equipment lifting up to 72 tonnes
• 50 Hertz from LV to 11Kv (5,000kVA)
• 60 Hertz from LV up to 6.6kV (1,500kVA)
• Variable speed drive <2MW
• Up to 10,150m³/hr 37,000GPM
• Up to 40bar (higher test pressures by arrangement)
• Up to 4,250kW / 5,700BHP
In House testing removes risk to the end user!

8. Machine Shop

On site we have the following machines, all operated by
highly trained, experienced & dedicated machine men:
• Horizontal Bore Mills, 2 off
• Radial Arm Drills
• Vertical Boring m/c’s 3’, 4’, 5’, 10’ & 24’
• Conventional Lathes, 5 off
• CNC Lathe’s, Borer and Milling m/c’s
• Balancing m/c’s, 2 off
• Surface grinder
• In 2020 we are installing a new 5 axis CNC Lathe
All machining work is placed in our scheduling /
planning tool to ensure key required for dates are met.
We also have the full support from our Quality
Department, who look after m/c servicing, measuring
gauge certification, operator up skilling and inspection
of finished components.

Within our coatings department, we have
the following capabilities:
• Calcium blasting
• Shot blasting, both with 20’ and 40’ booths
• Spray booths
• Coatings testing
• Various component build up techniques
• Bespoke fully ventilated paint kitchen
• Full dedicated Bay for any coatings work
• Over 60 years experience working each day
on your components
Our coatings systems combine engineering and
coating expertise to provide efficiency upgrades
to most pump and valve internals.

10. Spares Supply

Spares supplied from the people who use them.
Taking another risk out of the process, we have extensive knowledge of
pump, motor and valve spares. We can identify prior to manufacture that
form, fit & function is correct
Within Alloa we have our spares supply team, who work closely with our
Contracts Engineers, Quality Department & Machine Shop to fulfil our
customers spares needs.
We can manufacture from new and also procure from the market. Our
global supply chain is vetted regularly and performance is monitored
constantly to ensure the components are manufactured correctly to the
most stringent QA standards.
Supplied spares can be used in overhauls or to replenish our customers
stock holding.

controls to improve efficiency and greater control over process.
- During 2019 & 2020 Trillium Directors have approved a six figure CAPEX spend on APS technology
encompassing:

- Artec Leo – Wireless Laser Scanner

2 Data Acquisition
All critical component information identified, captured and recorded
1 ENG-IMS-FA17 Request Form
Project details, equipment details, serial numbers, site details, duty
details, operational issues, work scope required.
3 Data Review and Approval DMS
Review of all data acquisition to ensure compliance with process.
Suitably qualified/experienced engineer review. Upload to DMS with
reference to project, equipment and other unique identifiers.
Electronic sign off by qualified/experienced engineer.
4 Model and Manufacturing Information
Review ENG-IMS-FA17 request for work scope requirements and
product background. Develop model and required manufacturing
information utilizing relevant design standards.
5 Design Verification
Suitably experienced engineer reviews and approve designs. Utilize
standards, experience and CFD/FEA software to verify compliance
and performance.
6 Manufacture Component
Multidiscipline team review enquiry and create necessary QP.
Manufacture components using QP and generated design
information. Inspect component and collate QA documentation (LTRP
or other) to ensure compliance with customer order.
