Electronic Commerce - A Penny for your thoughts
This document appears to be a presentation on e-commerce and the internet given by Mark Cathcart of IBM UK. It covers topics such as the current and future state of the internet, trends in internet usage, implications of the internet regarding international boundaries and law, and enabling e-commerce. Diagrams are included on asymmetric encryption and public/private keys. The presentation provides an overview of key issues and considerations regarding e-commerce and the internet landscape in the late 1990s.

Accidental Architecture 0.9
Dell's current management infrastructure for its servers emerged in an accidental, unplanned way and lacks consistency. This makes the infrastructure expensive to develop, test, and maintain over time. Dell would benefit from transitioning to an intentional architecture that is proactively planned and uses shared, standardized interfaces. This would reduce costs while allowing Dell to better control and profit from its management offerings. It could also provide customers with a more unified experience across Dell's products and simpler ways to manage their infrastructure.
Installing and using VM/SP Release 5
In response to some discussions on the H390-VM Yahoo group about what came as part of VM/SP5 I've added this paper/presentation on the IBM Operating System VM.
The slides were produced using a in-house developed "foils" package that used DCF/Script macros. I don't have the source for the presentation, or access to the macros, but it was so much easier than Powerpoint :)
This version of the slides was scanned from a paper archive, and submitted with over 100 over examples of my work as part of my US Immigration/Green card application.
What is a six pack presentation?
This never really caught on at IBM, or for that matter, I didn't push it at Dell. Technology companies are some of the worst when it comes to being succinct. Presentations are often a business case, marketing justification and technical specification jammed into one. The primary objective of which is to convince the audience you know what you are doing, you must, after all, you have 130 slides.
"death by powerpoint" is a well known condition, but it doesn't mean you have to become a terminator.

Texas A&M IAP Distinguished Lecture
Large-scale software engineering projects require speed, discipline, and the right culture and processes. The speaker discusses how engineering must be treated as a discipline with defined processes to effectively manage large, globally distributed teams. Additionally, the software architecture must enable engineering teams to work together across locations without silos and roadblocks, while respecting cultural differences and priorities. Dell's approach focuses on open, horizontal integration to provide customer choice globally.
Enterprise Workstation Management from Chaos to Order
This presentation has it's origins in 1989 as a Lotus Freelance presentation printed on real overheads via a plotter. It covers the management of workstations and PC's in corporate environments. This version is dated from June 1996 and was recovered from the Internet Archive. Some of the colored overlays are the wrong colors and some of the graphics missing. I still think its worth taking a look through for both style and content. I got the summary slide wrong, but not by much as we move to what some are calling Cloud Clients
Thoughts on Utility, Grid, on demand, cloud computing and appliances
The document discusses the evolution of grid computing, cloud computing, and on-demand computing. It describes IBM's plans to launch "Blue Cloud", a family of cloud computing offerings based on open standards. Blue Cloud will provide a massively scalable compute platform for hosting data-intensive workloads. It will deliver an on-demand infrastructure and SOA environment to reduce IT costs and complexity while increasing business responsiveness.
Its Seven 2007
The document discusses seven ways to measure progress in one's career:
1. Focus on what work you do and how you do it. Don't do work you don't enjoy and understand its purpose.
2. Develop your profession through certification and having others recognize your skills. Success here can help promotions but isn't guaranteed.
3. Take an interest in managing your career path over time. Ensure career changes happen intentionally rather than passively.
4. Your level or "band" within a company is less important than your profession and career development. Don't get fixated on promotions.
5. Your salary is less important than developing your skills and career, but priorities may change over time.

Healing is the body’s response to injury in an attempt to restore normal structure and functions.
Healing can occur in two ways: Regeneration and Repair
There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.
