- #4 In type 1 sentences the sentence structure is father subject is riding –verb and what is he riding –scooter so scooter is object-we use the word ‘object’ to talk about the thing/person that the action is done to. We ca figure out the direct object by using this question format- the subject did what?or the subject (verb)what? In this case-……….. Sometimes a verb can take more than one object. As in the second sentence there is one direct object and one indirect object. We can figure out the indirect object by asking the question for whom or to whom.
