A. Affirmative to Negative.
Note.1:
•Affirmative sentence এ বিদ্যমান Only িা alone
ককান িযাবিিাচক শব্দকক বিকশষাবিত করকে, negative
করার সমি, উি Only িা alone এর পবরিকতে উি
িযাবি িাচক শকব্দর পূকিে, None but িসাকত হি এিং আর
ককান পবরিতে ন হিনা।কেমনঃ
•Aff: Only he can play good cricket.
Neg: None but he can play good cricket.
• Aff: Only the science students can apply
for the post.
Neg: None but the science students can
apply for the post.
•Aff: Only they can do the work.
Neg: None but they can do the work.

 মন্ত্রঃ Helping Verb ছাড়া Not িকস না। কেমনঃ
 Aff: Ratna is only ten.
 Neg: Ratna is not more than ten.
 Aff: Ratna bought only ten pens.
 Neg: Ratna did not buy more than
ten pens.

Note :4 Affirmative sentence এ must / have to/ has
to / need to থাককে , negative করার সমি, উি
Verb গুকোর পবরিকতে Main Verb পূকিে, can not
but / can not help িসাকত হি এিং আর ককান
পবরিতে ন হিনা।
 মন্ত্রঃ can not help এর পর Main Verb এর সাকথ
ing িসাকত হি। কেমনঃ
Aff : We must obey our parents.
Neg: We can not but obey our parents.
Aff : He needs to make a house.
Neg: He can not help making a house.
Aff : They have to play well to win.
Neg: They can not but play well to win.

Affirmative sentence এ had to/
needed to / Simple Past (উপাি না
থাককে ) থাককে , negative করার সমি,
উি Verb গুকোর পবরিকতে Main Verb পূকিে,
could not but / could not help িসাকত
হি এিং আর ককান পবরিতে ন হিনা।
মন্ত্রঃ could not help এর পর Main Verb
এর সাকথ ing িসাকত হি। কেমনঃ
Aff : Ayshi needed to read well.
Neg: Ayshi could not but read well.
Or:-
Neg: Ayshi could not help reading
well.

অথিা শুধু And দ্বারা েুি থাককে , negative করার
সমি, Both এর স্থাকন Not only এিং And এর স্থাকন but
also িসাকত হি। তকি শুধু And দ্বারা দ্ুটি শব্দ েুি
থাককে, and এর পূকিে কে শব্দটি থাকক তার পূকিে Not only
এিং And এর স্থাকন but also িসাকত হি। এিং আর
ককান পবরিতে ন হিনা।কেমনঃ
 Aff: He ate both meat and fish.
 Neg: He ate not only meat but also fish.
 Aff: Ratna saw Rima and Lima.
 Neg: Ratna saw not only Rima but also Lima.

প্রদত্ত Sentence এ Aff: Sentence টি As soon as … অথিা
Hardly had+subj+ V3+ex+ when+ simple past অথিা
Scarcely had +subj+ V3+ex + before+simple past েুি হকে
Negative করার সমি, No sooner had +subj+ V3+ex+than +
simple past প্রয় োগ করয়ে হ । যেমনঃ
 Aff: As soon as he saw me, he ran away.
 Neg: No sooner had he seen me than he ran away.
 Aff: Hardly had the police seen the thief when he
ran away.
 Neg: No sooner had the police seen the thief than he
ran away.

করার সমি,
1. Every / A এর পবরিকতে There is no এিং All এর
পবরিকতে There are no এিং Verb এর পূকিে but িসাকত
হি এিং অনয বকছুর পবরিতে ন হকি না।
Aff: Every mother loves her child.
Neg: There is no mother but loves her child.
Aff: A patriot loves his country.

এিং Verbটি েবদ্ have Verb হ , negative
করার সমি, Every / A এর পবরিকতে There is no
এিং All এর পবরিকতে There are no এিং
Have/Has/Had এর স্থাকন without িসাকত হি
এিং অনয বকছুর পবরিতে ন হকি না। কেমনঃ
Aff: Every building has iron.
Neg: There is no building without iron.
Aff: Every rose has a throne.
Neg: There is no rose without a throne.

প্রদ্ত্ত Affirmative sentence-এ too…to এবং
১ম Subject বযক্তিবাচক হলে, negative করার
সময়, too এর স্থালে so এবং to এর স্থালে that +
Subject + can not / could not বসালে হয়।
Aff: He is too weak to walk.

প্রদ্ত্ত Affirmative sentence-এ too…to এিং ১ম
Subject বস্তুিাচক এিং to এর পূয়বে for + Object থোকয়ে,
negative করোর সম , too এর স্থাকন so এিং for +
Obj+to এর স্থাকন that + Obj হয়ব Subject + can not
/ could not িসাকত হি।
মন্ত্রঃ এয়েয়ে ২ Verb এর যেয়ে ১ম Subject এর Pronoun এর
Object যক বসোয়ে হ ।

সমতা-অসমতাাঃ• 1. এলেলে Positive থথলক Comparative এবং
Comparative থথলক Positive হয়। ক্তকন্তু
এলেলে Superlative হয় ো।
• 2. প্রদত্ত Degree দ্বারা সমো থবাঝালে থকাে
Subject এর স্থাে পক্তরবেত ে হলব ো।
• 3. প্রদত্ত Degree দ্বারা অসমো থবাঝালে উভয়
Subject এর স্থাে পক্তরবেত ে হলব।
• 4. প্রদত্ত Degree টিলে োলবাধক থাকলে োলক
হযাাঁলবাধক করলে হলব। েলব হযাাঁলবাধক থাকলে োলক
োলবাধক করলে হলব।
• 5. কম= অসমো , কম েয় = সমো।
• 6. So……. as / as…… as= অথতাঃ মলো,

  • 1. Transformations of Sentences A. Affirmative to Negative. Note.1: •Affirmative sentence এ বিদ্যমান Only িা alone ককান িযাবিিাচক শব্দকক বিকশষাবিত করকে, negative করার সমি, উি Only িা alone এর পবরিকতে উি িযাবি িাচক শকব্দর পূকিে, None but িসাকত হি এিং আর ককান পবরিতে ন হিনা।কেমনঃ •Aff: Only he can play good cricket. Neg: None but he can play good cricket. • Aff: Only the science students can apply for the post. Neg: None but the science students can apply for the post. •Aff: Only they can do the work. Neg: None but they can do the work.

Affirmative to Negative. The old man was alone alive. None but The old man was alive. Rana saw only her. Rana saw none but her. Only the brave deserve the fair. None but the brave deserve the fair. Only the graduates can apply for the post.  None but the graduates can apply for the post.
  • 3. Note:2 A. Affirmative to Negative. Affirmative sentence এ বিদ্যমান Only িা alone ককান িস্তুিাচক শব্দকক বিকশষাবিত করকে, negative করার সমি উি Only িা alone এর পবরিকতে উি িস্তু িাচক শকব্দর পূকিে, Nothing but িসাকত হি এিং আর ককান পবরিতে ন হি না।কেমনঃ Aff: Education alone can remove darkness. Neg : Nothing but education can remove darkness. Aff: Only Vitamin A protects blindness. Neg : Nothing but Vitamin A protects blindness. Aff: He bought only vegetables. Neg : He bought nothing but vegetables.
  • 4. Examples Transformations of Sentences A. Affirmative to Negative.  Only the moon was visible.  Nothing but the moon was visible.  He likes only sweet.  He likes nothing but sweet.  Only money can destroy us.  Nothing but money can destroy us.  Only money can save me now.  Nothing but money can save me now.
  • 5. Note : 3 A. Affirmative to Negative. Affirmative sentence এ বিদ্যমান Only ককান সংখ্যািাচক শব্দকক বিকশষাবিত করকে, negative করার সমি, উি Only এর পবরিকতে উি সংখ্যািাচক শকব্দর পূকিে, Not more than / not less than িসাকত হি এিং আর ককান পবরিতে ন হিনা।  মন্ত্রঃ Helping Verb ছাড়া Not িকস না। কেমনঃ  Aff: Ratna is only ten.  Neg: Ratna is not more than ten.  Aff: Ratna bought only ten pens.  Neg: Ratna did not buy more than ten pens.
  • 6. Examples Transformations of Sentences A. Affirmative to Negative.  Aff: The man has only a shirt.  Neg: The man has not more than a shirt.  Lima buys only five books.  Lima does not buy more than five books.  They make only one house.  They do not make more than one house.
  • 7. Note :4 Affirmative sentence এ must / have to/ has to / need to থাককে , negative করার সমি, উি Verb গুকোর পবরিকতে Main Verb পূকিে, can not but / can not help িসাকত হি এিং আর ককান পবরিতে ন হিনা।  মন্ত্রঃ can not help এর পর Main Verb এর সাকথ ing িসাকত হি। কেমনঃ Aff : We must obey our parents. Neg: We can not but obey our parents. Aff : He needs to make a house. Neg: He can not help making a house. Aff : They have to play well to win. Neg: They can not but play well to win.
  • 8. Examples Transformations of Sentences A. Affirmative to Negative.  We must obey our parents.  We cannot but obey our parents / we cannot help obeying our parents.  We must realize the fact and come forward against corruption.  We can not but realize the fact and come forward against corruption.  Man must submit to destiny.  Man can not but submit to destiny.  You must obey your teacher.  You can not but obey your teacher.
  • 9. Note:5 A. Affirmative to Negative. Affirmative sentence এ had to/ needed to / Simple Past (উপাি না থাককে ) থাককে , negative করার সমি, উি Verb গুকোর পবরিকতে Main Verb পূকিে, could not but / could not help িসাকত হি এিং আর ককান পবরিতে ন হিনা। মন্ত্রঃ could not help এর পর Main Verb এর সাকথ ing িসাকত হি। কেমনঃ Aff : Ayshi needed to read well. Neg: Ayshi could not but read well. Or:- Neg: Ayshi could not help reading well.

Affirmative to Negative.  He went there. He could not but go there. She had to suffer a lot. She could not help suffering a lot. They needed to arrange a party. They could not but arrange a party. They punished the thief. They could not but punish the thief.
  • 11. Note:- 6 Transformations of Sentences A. Affirmative to Negative.  Affirmative sentence এ দ্ুটি শব্দ Both…. And অথিা শুধু And দ্বারা েুি থাককে , negative করার সমি, Both এর স্থাকন Not only এিং And এর স্থাকন but also িসাকত হি। তকি শুধু And দ্বারা দ্ুটি শব্দ েুি থাককে, and এর পূকিে কে শব্দটি থাকক তার পূকিে Not only এিং And এর স্থাকন but also িসাকত হি। এিং আর ককান পবরিতে ন হিনা।কেমনঃ  Aff: He ate both meat and fish.  Neg: He ate not only meat but also fish.  Aff: Ratna saw Rima and Lima.  Neg: Ratna saw not only Rima but also Lima.
  • 12. Note:7 Transformations of Sentences A. Affirmative to Negative. প্রদত্ত Sentence এ Aff: Sentence টি As soon as … অথিা Hardly had+subj+ V3+ex+ when+ simple past অথিা Scarcely had +subj+ V3+ex + before+simple past েুি হকে Negative করার সমি, No sooner had +subj+ V3+ex+than + simple past প্রয় োগ করয়ে হ । যেমনঃ  Aff: As soon as he saw me, he ran away.  Neg: No sooner had he seen me than he ran away.  Aff: Hardly had the police seen the thief when he ran away.  Neg: No sooner had the police seen the thief than he ran away.
  • 13. Examples Transformations of Sentences A. Affirmative to Negative. 1. As soon as she heard the news, she started to cry. = No sooner had she heard the news than she started to cry. 2. Scarcely the Headmaster entered the room before the students stood up. = No sooner had the Headmaster entered the room than the students stood up. 3. As soon as we reached the station, the train left. = No sooner had we reached the station than the train left.
  • 14. Note:8 Transformations of Sentences A. Affirmative to Negative. প্রদত্ত Aff: Sentence এ Subj: েবদ্ Every+ noun অথিা A+ noun অথিা All+plu Noun হ , negative করার সমি, 1. Every / A এর পবরিকতে There is no এিং All এর পবরিকতে There are no এিং Verb এর পূকিে but িসাকত হি এিং অনয বকছুর পবরিতে ন হকি না। Aff: Every mother loves her child. Neg: There is no mother but loves her child. Aff: A patriot loves his country. Neg: There is no patriot but loves his country. A: All Bangladeshis are polite. N:There are no Bangladeshis but are polite.
  • 15. Note:8 Transformations of Sentences A. Affirmative to Negative. 2. Every / A এর পবরিকতে There is no এিং All এর পবরিকতে There are no এিং Verb এর পূকিে who + পবরিতে ন কোগ্য শকব্দর বিপরীত শব্দ িসাকত হি এিং অনয বকছুর পবরিতে ন হকি না। Aff: Every mother loves her child. Neg: There is no mother who hates her child. Aff: A patriot loves his country. Neg: There is no patriot who hates his country. Aff : All Bangladeshis are polite.
