How to Enhance Influence and Collaboration with an Executive MindsetCurt Buermeyer
Many people fail to move into higher levels of leadership because they have not adapted to the next-level thinking. Having an "executive mindset" is key to success at higher levels of leadership. This presentation highlights the strategies to develop an executive mindset.
Changing the prevailing mindset that maintains the status quo is one of the hardest things to do. Change in a system as complex as healthcare is even harder! If you believe that a mindset of opportunity and optimism is needed to move your team or system to the next stage of change; then this is the session for you.
Marlies has been facilitating change processes using liberating structures for the last eight years and has found them incredibly useful to start the conversation. There are many approaches in the suite of liberating structures but Marlies has found TRIZ the most versatile and easy to use. She will share with you three different ways that she has used it. Michael Auld, Shannon Hennig and Lindsay Meyer will join her to talk about their experiences with TRIZ.
Research has shown that a simple idea, the mindset, could affect the way we lead our lives. But not only affect us as individuals but could also affect our organisation's "agility". being aware of the two types of mindsets, fixed and growth or as Linda Rising like to name agile mindset, is the first step towards changing your mindset and your organisation's one! this material has been used to facilitate a learning lab that organised by Ericsson's High Performing Team Environment network of coaches.
This is a slide deck, which we've created for a Chameleon PA, is a short introduction to the benefits of outsourcing for small businesses, the pitfalls to look out for and how to get the ball rolling.
Outsourcing has become a critical part of the growth strategy of small businesses since it gives them the opportunity to be more competitive in the global marketplace while maintaining control over their overheads.
Technology gives small businesses easy access to the time, skills and experience of a vast network of resources which means they can offer their clients more comprehensive problem solving solutions.
The main problem most small businesses struggle with is to get into the mindset of outsourcing. You need to move from working IN your business to working ON your business and make outsourcing part of this process.
The Power of an Agile Mindset - Linda RisingAgileSparks
I've wondered for some time whether much of Agile's success was the result of the placebo effect, that is, good things happened because we believed they would. The placebo effect is a startling reminder of the power our minds have over our perceived reality. Now cognitive scientists tell us that this is only a small part of what our minds can do. Research has identified what I like to call "an agile mindset," an attitude that equates failure and problems with opportunities for learning, a belief that we can all improve over time, that our abilities are not fixed but evolve with effort. What's surprising about this research is the impact of an agile mindset on creativity and innovation, estimation, and collaboration in and out of the workplace. I'll relate what's known about this mindset and share some practical suggestions that can help all of us become even more agile.
Agile is actually an approach and a Mindset, whereas most people misunderstand it as a set of practices. There are umpteen examples of people implementing the Agile practices and artefacts, but are failing to get the intended positive results. This is a classic problem of ‘doing Agile’ as opposed to aiming to ‘be Agile’. The key to getting the optimal benefits is having the Agile Mindset.
Mindset is abstract and hence one needs to understand it based on what is visible in behaviours, policies etc. The talk is about not only what these visible characteristics are, but also about what can be some of the enablers to move towards achieving the Agile Mindset. It has been proven that Leadership of an organization plays a key role in enabling the right Mindset, and hence this talk is meant for Leaders.

We'll show you how classroom response systems ("clickers") offer a powerful way to increase student engagement by going beyond simple quizzes. Challenging conceptual questions provide an opportunity for peer instruction as students discuss answers with their classmates, giving teachers a chance to hear student ideas and misconceptions by listening to their conversations. The real-time histogram of students responses to these multiple-choice questions also provide instant feedback to both teachers and students as to the precise level of student understanding on that particular topic. Clicker questions can also be posed before and after instruction, giving quantitative information about the effectiveness of a variety of types of instruction. We'll share ideas for question writing, give you practice to write your own questions and receive feedback, and provide a wealth of tips for facilitating class discussion and getting students to buy in to this teaching technique.

Desing principles: tensions and synergies v3.0Ilias Bartolini
Version presented at Agile Day 2014
We created a workshop to help developers to start learning and questioning design principles.
The basic idea is to put them one against the other and realise how they are applied differently based on context and that design is based on trade-off choices.
People will be splitted into pairs working on a small code exercise.
Starting from a small codebase you’ll be asked to implement a new feature following one principle.
After 20/30min we’ll share our code in a facilitated conversation

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
