2. • Convention : Forbidden love/ someone or something coming in-between the relationship.
• For example in ‘Your Sisters Sister’, the sister is the cause of what separates her and her best
friend.
• However, in the A2 production called, ‘What If’, it is the element of time travel which
separates the couple.
3. • Inspiration: With the genre – in general – I found the fonts influential because they had
meaning to the films such as in the romantic comedy film ‘The Oranges’ it is such a
plain orange screen which is symbolic for the film.
• The fonts in romantic comedies are always relevant to the storyline and are not over the
top such as the cliché blood dripping fonts in horror films.
4. • Convention: Something or someone interrupts the normal society of every day.
• For example, in the ‘Red Dawn’ trailer, the government seems to interrupt to calmness
and normality at the beginning.
5. • Inspiration: I find how the sci-fi/thriller genre explores the unpredictable becoming real
such as aliens.
• Additionally, what I find influential is that it sometimes manipulate everyday elements
such as in the movie trailer ‘Alienate’.
• In this part of the trailer, the voice over says, “Don’t drink the water” and the shot shows
an effect of it.
6. • Convention : Taking a realistic situation and highlighting something positive out of it.
• For example, in ‘Welcome to Riley's’, it explores the situation about prostitution amongst
teenagers and the concept of mourning over a child.
7. • Influential: What I find influential throughout the drama genre is that the
characterisations through MES such as costume and makeup are realistic
which makes the audience have a connection with the characters.
8. • Convention: Something which is not human is normally causes the horror.
• Stereotypically, it is usually ghosts and demons such as in the A2 trailer, ‘Paralysis’.
• However, this is slowly changing.
• For example, in the trailer ‘The Pyramids’, its mummies.
9. • Inspiration: Horror storylines are now becoming more based on true stories which is
more scary.
• What I find influential is that the horror genre is starting to in-cooperating history such
as in the new film, ‘As Above, So Below’ which involves the catacombs under Paris
because it highlights – in a scary way – how society was mad.
