and prominent locations like food joints,

3.Vehicle Control Signs and Speed Limit: These signs
indicate the maximum speed limit for vehicles and other vehicle
control measures.
4.Restriction Ends Sign: This sign indicates the end of a

Warning signs are used to alert drivers of potential hazards on
the road ahead. In India, warning signs are further classified into
the following categories
1.Cautionary Signs: These signs are triangular in shape with a
red border and a black symbol or graphic inside. They warn
drivers of potential hazards ahead, such as sharp turns, steep
inclines, or pedestrian crossings.
2.Information Signs: These signs are rectangular in shape with
a blue background and white lettering or symbols. They provide
information about the road ahead, such as upcoming
intersections, hospitals, or rest areas.
3.Construction Signs: These signs are diamond-shaped with an
orange background and black lettering or symbols. They warn
drivers of construction zones ahead and provide information
about detours or lane closures.
10. INFORMATORY
SIGNS
Informatory signs are meant to provide information on direction, destination,
roadside facilities, etc. to the road user . In India, these signs are generally
blue in color and are further classified into the following categories
1.Destination Signs: These signs indicate the direction and distance to
various destinations falling on that particular road. They are generally
installed before intersections.
2.Direction Signs: These signs show the direction and distance of the
destination/place written on it. They help drivers in locating places and thus
are very helpful in saving time and fuel. They assure the driver that they are
on the right path and also tell the distance of the places written on it.
3.Place Identification Signs: These signs identify the area. They tell that
the limit of the particular area has started. They are illustrative on national
highways.
4.Public Facility Signs: These signs indicate the availability of public
facilities such as telephones, petrol pumps, hospitals, first aid posts, eating
places, light refreshment areas, resting places, parking lots for cars,
scooters and motorcycles, cycles, taxis, and auto-rickshaws.
