With the acceleration of customer and business demands, site reliability engineers and IT Ops analysts now require operational visibility into their entire architecture, something that traditional APM tools, dev logging tools, and SRE tools aren’t equipped to provide. Observability enables you to inspect and understand your IT stack on premises and in the cloud(s); It’s no longer about whether your system works (monitoring), but being able to task why it is not working? (Observability). This presentation will outline key steps to take to move from monitoring to observability.
The data management industry has matured over the last three decades, primarily based on relational database management system(RDBMS) technology. Since the amount of data collected, and analyzed in enterprises has increased several folds in volume, variety and velocityof generation and consumption, organisations have started struggling with architectural limitations of traditional RDBMS architecture. As a result a new class of systems had to be designed and implemented, giving rise to the new phenomenon of “Big Data”. In this paper we will trace the origin of new class of system called Hadoop to handle Big data.
This is basically about the hybrid cloud and steps to implement them, starting from what is cloud, hybrid cloud to its implementation. Hybrid Cloud is nowadays implemented by many organisations and transitioning a traditional IT setup to a hybrid cloud model is no small undertaking. So, one should know about it and how it is implemented.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides on-demand computing resources and services in the cloud, with pay-as-you-go pricing. This session provides an overview and describes how using AWS resources instead of your own is like purchasing electricity from a power company instead of running your own generator. Using AWS resources provides many of the same benefits as a public utility: Capacity exactly matches your need, you pay only for what you use, economies of scale result in lower costs, and the service is provided by a vendor experienced in running large-scale networks. A high-level overview of AWS infrastructure (such as AWS Regions and Availability Zones) and AWS services is provided as part of this session.

ieee standard base paper.-Load balancing in the cloud computing environment has an important impact on the performance. Good load balancing makes cloud computing more efficient and improves user satisfaction. This article introduces a better load balance model for the public cloud based on the cloud partitioning concept with a switch mechanism to choose different strategies for different situations. The algorithm applies the game theory to the load balancing strategy to improve the efficiency in the public cloud environment.

Through this presentation you will gain a good understanding of how the clean architecture pattern is implemented at Taxibeat. What issues the Android Taxibeat team has faced so far and what solutions we came up with. Of course, the benefits of clean architecture will also be discussed along with the way we managed to build two fast paced iterative apps that share functionality.
As more applications are being developed as a set of microservices, containers and platforms such as Kubernetes make many things much easier, but still leave untouched many operational issues such as traffic management and visibility, service authentication, security and policy. Istio, is a new service mesh that attempts to address many of these. We will discuss the architecture of Istio and the benefits it may offer to new microservice-based systems in a multicloud world.
Dave Orchard - Offline Web Apps with HTML5Web Directions
There’s an old expression, that there are only 2 hard problems in computing: naming, cache invalidation and off-by-one errors. Building offline web apps is all about those hard problems. There are some different ways of storing stuff — such as html5 caching, html5 storage, sqllite, and even native stores such as contacts and calendars — and we’ll sing their praises. But the really hard problems are knowing what to store, whether the stuff is still good or needs refreshing, how much to store, how to resolve conflicts between the client and server, how to integrate with data-specific stores, all in a bewildering cacophony of network and storage limited devices. We’ll spend the bulk of our time on these hard problems, which is probably more useful than api description and sample code.
Dave Orchard is Mobile Architect at Salesforce.com and located in Vancouver, Canada. This means being involved in many mobile platforms, architectures, tools, technologies and APIs. Prior to that, he was a co-founder of Ayogo Games and focused on iPhone and ruby/merb/mysql based casual social games. Back further in the mists of time, he was the Web standards lead for BEA Systems for 7 years, including being elected three times to 2 year terms on the W3C Technical Architecture Group chaired by Sir Tim Berners-Lee.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
