their mothers because we celebrate Mother´s Day.
7. Autumn Traditions
• One of the Slovak autumn traditions is the exhibition of pumpkin
monsters called „Tekvičák“.
• It is a very beautiful tradition during the harvest of pumpkins - in
October.
• We carve pumpkin monsters
at school and at home.
We put candles in them.
• We show carved creations
at school, at home and in our city.
8. Harvest festival, Vintage
• After harvest, we celebrate the end of the harvest, the harvest of crops.
• In many regions, we often celebrate a festival called "Harvest
Festival" in Slovakia.
• In our Vráble region, we celebrate Vintage
because we live in a wine-growing area.
• People organize ceremonial parade,
walk, sing and dance in folk costumes.
• They also make beautiful wreaths from
vine twigs.
• This way they celebrate the end of the grape harvest. It's actually a
thank for a good harvest.
9. All Saints‘ Day
•In November, we remember those who left our world
forever, as well as all the saints.
•We go to the cemetery,
the graves and light candles
on them.
10. St. Martin on the white horse - 11 November
• 11th November is the day when St. Martin should come in
Slovakia on a white horse.
• People said it should start snowing on this day.
• That is why it was said and still
says today that Martin is coming
on a white horse.
11. The time before Christmas - Advent

Stephen - December 26.
• On 24th December at Christmas Eve dinner Slovakian people
meet at the family table in the evening, do some habits and
eat some typical meals: sauerkraut or lentil soup, potato salad
