2. Mária Ďuríčková
• Mária Ďuríčková was born on the 29th September 1919 in
Zvolenská Slatina. She was a Slovak writer, translator,
scenarist and author of literature for children and youth.
• She worked as a teacher in any places,
also in Bratislava.
• She worked as the editor in many magazines.
3. Her creation
• Her work has been extensive,
we will mention only her most
famous works.
• Her first debut appeared in 1954 :
Tale od Grandpa Frost –
Rozprávka o dedovi Mrázovi.
4. • The story of twins – Danka and Janka
– is still very popular even until these days.
• The book is designed for younger kids.
• A popular novel “Majka Tárajka“
was written for children from
the age of 11.
5. • Some other books for children: Janko Hraško, Zlatá brána -
Gold gate, Zlatá priadka, O Guľkovi bambuľkovi, Babulínek,
...
6. • The pupils of the 3rd grade of Slovakian school have read a story
from the book “Danka and Janka“ together.
• The book is about twins sisters.
• The story called “Balloon“ was about
the celebration of the 1st May – Work holiday.
• They have read the story, talked about it, made illustrations, then
they wrote a short English summary of the story together.
• Here is the result.
8. Danka and Janka are sisters - twins.
They are completely the same.
It was the 1st May, a big holiday.
Pupils of 1st class got balloons.
Danka got pink balloon and
Janka got blue balloon. On the ballons there was
the title: Peace to all children all over the world.
9. The children launched balloons into the air.
Only Danka didn´t do it.
She wanted to have balloon
only for herself.
But she was suprised.
All children were happy despite
they left balloons to fly away.
10. They talked about balloons.
Where can their balloons get to?
Maybe to Prague, China, to America.
Danka decided.
She left her balloon fly away
with the others.
All children were so delighted.
