GARMENT PRODUCTION
SYSTEM
PROGRESSIVE BUNDLE SYSTEM
VS
SINGLE PCS FLOW SYSTEM
 WE ARE GOING TO BRIEF MORE ON THE EXISTING SYSTEM OF PROGRESSIVE BUNDLE SYSTEM AGAINST
OUR PROPOSAL OF SINGLE PCS FLOW SYSTEM
GARMENT PRODUCTION SYSTEM
o Garment production system is the process in which the fabric is converted into garment
through a manufacturing process.
o The best apparel production system is chosen by the company based on the feasibility
of the product, policy of the company, capacity & capability of the company and
manpower handling.
o There are four types of production systems widely found :
PROGRESSIVE BUNDLE SYSTEM.
MODULAR PRODUCTION SYSTEM.
SINGLE PCS FLOW SYSTEM
UNIT PRODUCTION SYSTEM WITH OHT ( Over Head traveler – Hanger ).
PROGRESSIVE BUNDLE SYSTEM
o As the name itself explains, the bundle with the garment parts move from operation
to operation.
o The most traditional production system.
PROGRESSIVE BUNDLE SYSTEM - WORKFLOW
o All the cut parts of required parts of the garment are matched , ticketed & bundled.
o Some of the factories keep the bundle size as standard but more often the bundle size
changes according to the size of the cut pcs & operations.
o As the bundles are loaded into the lines, the operators who performs the operations are
Bound to perform the same operations on all the pcs of the bundle at once & retie the
Bundle & move it to he next workstation for upcoming operation.
o This sequence of bundle goes on till the last operation.
PROGRESSIVE BUNDLE SYSTEM
ADVANTAGES DIS ADVANTAGES
Labors such as skilled, semi skilled & unskilled can be
involved in the simple operations
More labor leads to more cost
Each operator will have accountability of the quantity of
operation performed
Time consuming due to untying , operation of complete
bundle, retying & moving of the bundle
Tracking of the bundles are possible
Leads to huge WIP if the line balancing is not done, hence
require efficient supervisor
Operator shortage or absenteeism will lead to excess WIP
Less accountability on the reworks & alteration leading to
poor control on RFT
SINGLE PCS FLOW SYSTEM
o As the name suggest, instead of making a bundle of multiple pieces, a small bundle with
all the components of a single garment is made.
o Clips can be also used in production to hold the components of a piece.
o Cut parts from the cutting in the form of cakes are also taken directly into lines for single
pcs flow of basic styles.
SINGLEPCSFLOWSYSTEM- WORKFLOW
o Complete component of the a single piece is bundled or clipped together .
o These small bundles or clips are then loaded into the sewing line one by one.
o The main difference is that the operators receives one bundle from the back then
performs his operation & move that one pcs to the next operator.
o This cycle continues till the last operation of a single bundle for output.
SINGLEPCSFLOWSYSTEM
ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES
Less WIP within the production line Proper planning required for each styles to be effective
Time saving process hence Less throughput time in flow Labor turn over will lead to less productivity.
Well balanced sewing lines leading to In creased
productivity & improved Quality
Dependency on complete team for whole production
Reduced WFT & flexibility on reworks & alterations
Empowered employees
SINGLE PCSFLOW SYSTEM
THANK YOU!
