Examples Of Resistance To Change
The most dramatic example of resistance to change that I have encountered has been the change to an
electronic medication administration record (MAR) and electronic treatment administration record
(TAR). In response to some major systems issues with the paper MAR/TAR system, the corporate
team for our skilled nursing facility (SNF) decided that our facility would transition to an
eMAR/eTAR system. However, this was not communicated to the facility until the Monday prior to
the anticipated Friday rollout. The facility was also in our survey window and State was expected any
day. Understandably, staff was unhappy and even angry, mostly of the unknown and how it would
impact their workflow. This vendor provided a two hour training throughout

Battle Of Peleliu Analysis
A Battle Analysis of Peleliu The Battle of Peleliu is one of the United States Marine Corps bloodiest
battles that is underappreciated because it held no such tactical value in the allied forces strategy to
win the war in the Pacific theater, Sledge (2007) tells us: the battle of Peleliu resulted in the 1st
Marine Division suffering more than twice as many casualties as the 2nd Marine division had on
Tarawa. (p.57) To get a true understanding of the battle of Peleliu, it is important to understand the
kind of terrain that was fought on, the size, composition and disposition of both the US and Japanese
forces were and finally going over the actual fighting on Peleliu. Terrain is a huge factor that dictates
what courses of action that can be taken in order to influence the battle. There for terrain analysis is
needed to help come up with your courses of action. First look at the size of the objective area.

Wireless Communications, The Radio Industry
With the recent surge in wireless communications, the radio industry has seen an increase in the
number of different communication standards each requiring its own specific hardware and
processing. Our project addresses the need for radio interoperability with these various standards
through the development of hardware generators for a software defined radio (SDR) system. These
hardware generators will be created using Chisel, a hardware construction language. When given a set
of parameters or constraints, the hardware generators will automatically output circuit designs for the
given application thereby accelerating the hardware design process and introducing a new method for
multi standard support. Specifically, our team will focus on the development of generators for the
system s beamforming and MIMO blocks. For this reporting period, our team was responsible for
updating our previous CORDIC block for incorporation in the carrier frequency offset correction
(CFO) block. To refresh, the CORDIC block is simply a set of hardware efficient algorithms capable
of performing hyperbolic and trigonometric calculations without the use of a hardware multiplier. By
avoiding use of hardware multipliers, the CORDIC architecture reduces the number of logic gates
required to perform these trigonometric calculations thereby saving significant circuit power and area
in exchange for less accuracy. The work breakdown for this task is depicted in the diagram below (see
Figure 1). This task

combination of several factors. Among the physical causes and risk factors related to work
organization include: Handling loads , especially when you rotate or bend your back; Repetitive
movements or that require an effort; Taking improper or static postures; Vibration, low light or work

Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act Essay
Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) the end of the tax heavens and the Banking Secrecy,
International cooperation or coercion?
The offshore tax evasion is a problem that most countries face mainly because there are many
structures that help sophisticated investors to avoid the payment of those taxes. After the 2008 global
financial crisis, the United States was going through one of the most severe recession, the tax evasion
crisis and the growing budget deficit was at it highest point, in 2009 President Obama stated during an
interview I did not run for office to be helping out a bunch of, you know, fat cat bankers on Wall
Street, making very clear his position about the bailouts and the general about the banking industry.
It has been estimated the United States losses approximately $345 billion in tax revenue each year as a
result of offshore tax abuse . One of the biggest scandals of offshore tax evasion was the UBS,
Switzerland s largest bank, in 2009. The Obama s Administration came up with new approach in order
to collect more revenue and try to tackle down the excessive offshore tax evasion problems, so in
March of 2010 as a part of the Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment Act ( HIRE Act ), Foreign
Account Tax Compliance (FATCA) was enacted, creating the sections 1471 to 1474 of the Internal
Revenue Code creating a new chapter in the IRS code (Chapter 4).

The Importance Of Being Earnest Irony
In the satirical play The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, the author uses exaggeration
and two examples of irony to create humorous dialogue and situations between the characters of
Algernon a wealthy man from the city who is good friends with Jack, and, in this scene, is pretending
to be Jack s made up younger brother Ernest and Jack s young, eighteen year old ward who lives in the
country, Cecily. Wilde uses Cecily s age, personality and upbringing to his full advantage in this scene
in order to emphasize the theme of fictitious reality by exaggerating her obsession with Jack s made
up younger brother, Ernest. After Algernon proposes to her, Cecily immediately accepts, revealing to
him and the reader that the two of them she

Why Math Is Important For Teaching Mathematics And How...
Math Philosophy Paper Math is developing concepts or standards that s important for teaching
mathematics to students from Pre K to high school. In our changing world, those who understand and
can do mathematics will have significant opportunities and options for shaping their future. (NCTM
2000, p.50). The two important tools to be an effective teacher is knowledge of mathematics and how
students learn mathematics. The purposes of math education effect our life since the time we were
able to walk. We were taught how to count on our fingers to being able to write our numbers to ten.
Then as we got older, concepts were more challenging and involved critical thinking to solve the
problems. In society today, math is being utilized in simple to complex avenues such as grocery
shopping, measuring, budgeting, investments, architecture, science and technology to name a few. If
we take a look around our environment signs, buildings, bridges, streets and just the different patterns
and shapes all relate back to mathematics. My role as a math teacher in the classroom would be
creating an inviting math environment for my students, being able to explain math to all my students
in ways that they understand and model math in an effective way. I want to be a leader, share my
knowledge, engage and challenge my students, support them, respect them, be positive and keep them
interested in math. The qualities I would have as an effective teacher is the knowledge and skills and

Formal Analysis Of Dance Dawg
What type(s) or genre(s) of dance was (were) presented?
During the first performance, I watched the dancers perform to the hip hop song Worth It so of course
their choreography was hip hop combined with a little street dancing or twerking . During the second
performance, the girls performed a jazz routine to the song Shut Up and Dance With Me.
How did you participate?
For these performances I didn t actually get to participate. I did however, watch the dancers and
analyze their movement. They were amazing so I cheered for them throughout their performance and
sang along to the songs.
What did you expect the event to be like?
I expected a great performance because I had previously looked into auditioning to be a Dance Dawg
so based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of my expectations were exceeded for both performances. The performances were very different
from each other and its quite amazing how one team can be so perfect at two completely different
styled of dance and perform two completely opposite routines in such a short time frame. In both
shows the dancers had great intervals and moved in synchronization.
What was the most memorable dance, section or element for you? Why?
The most memorable part of the hip hop show was when the dancers did a large hair flip followed by
a big strut and lots of hip movement paired with the use of their hair and arms to accentuate the
movement of their hips and torso.
The most memorable part of the jazz routine was when the girls did six pirouettes, turned into an
attitude leap that transitioned straight to floor work. Everyone moved simultaneously so it looked as if
they were one unit and not separate dancers. Even the details were perfect every leap was the same
height, every leading foot hit the floor at the same time and every toe was pointed.
How did this event connect you with your readings, classroom experience and/or general knowledge

Canagarajah Analysis
There are a couple of authors that I agree with. I first would like to share why Canagarajah is the
author who I mostly agree with before the other one. Her intention to write her statement was to have
both evangelicals and non evangelicals dialogue in the TESOL field. She mentioned that post
positivist scholars are tired of being stereotyped. On the other hand, believers feel rejected because
they have pawned their attitudes and values to one way. Canagarajah offered on her statement what
other authors did not. On her statement she did not lean to one particular side, Christian or non
Christian. Instead, she politely exposed both sides on the plate. She asked a number of questions to
why do Christians hinder and do not attend non Christian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the existence of a supernatural creator of the world in which I live (p. 21). His statement describing
the importance of respect, empathy and sincerity can make a better world. But, how can creation not
surrender to the Creator of the universe the Almighty God. How can mere people have good deeds
without knowing the one Who is good. I do not agree with Edge pointing fingers instead I would like
to refer to him a quote, Wishing spirituality would die away is not helpful (Canagarajah, S, 2009, p.

How Does Kim Kardashian Deserve To Be Famous
Does Kim Kardashian really deserve to be famous?
We all know it s no lie that fame is one of the greatest things one can achieve, but do some people
really deserve the amount of fame that they have? I mean, I know there are many different ways in
which one can grab the fame at any given opportunity... but leaking your private life to the whole
world is just a step too far if you ask me. Some may say it s desperate, some may say it s not her fault
that the sex tape got leaked but others may then say she thrives off it. Does Kim Kardashian really
deserve to be famous?
It s like a simple equation on how the Kardashians gained fame; Kim Kardashian has sex with Ray J
(on camera), Ray J leaks the video, Kim becomes famous, her sisters and mother then become famous,
and all for what? Nothing. Although, people say that she gained fame through the fact her dad was a

the taxi back to collect her, or was it just the usual stupid antics of Kim? I m sure she is a loving
mother, but your child comes before your publicity. Let s not forget about that episode of KUWTK in

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Layered Security And...
It is not uncommon to find various organizations complaining about security flaws in their
information systems. Failing to prevent or mitigate the security flaws may lead to system breakdown,
errors, and loss of crucial information. This is why it is important for users of information systems to
find the right solutions that can help counter and mitigate security flaws. One common problem with
security flaws connected with information systems or networks is that the security flaws occur in
multiples. Technological advances have, fortunately, made it possible for people and organizations to
prevent and detect such security flaws using security strategies. Layered Security and Defense in
Depth are two strategies that can help prevent attacks and protect information systems against security
flaws. The two strategies are similar but are based on completely two different concepts. This paper
compares and contrasts the Layered Security and Defense in Depth Strategies by explaining how each
of the two functions. Additionally, the paper includes an explanation about the advantages and
disadvantages of the two strategies.
Layered Security refers to the use of a collection of or various tools to cover the gaps in security not
covered by other tools. Layered Security operates on one principle in that there is no silver bullet
when protecting networks or computers (Chatterjee, Hora, Rosoff, 2015). This means that there is no
single method of making systems 100 percent safe; instead,

Synthesis and Reactivity of tert butyl Chloride via an Sn1 Reaction
Copeland 1
Introduction/Background
Substitution reactions are important chemical processes that contribute to the production of new
compounds. Simplistically, these reactions take place through a series of steps in which one functional
group is replaced by another (March). There are two types of nucleophilic substitution reactions, first
order and second order, but this experiment only involves the Sn1 first order reactions. Sn1 reactions
are considered unimolecular meaning that only one molecule is involved in the rate determining step,
the slowest step of the reaction which determines the overall speed of the reaction. In contrast, Sn2
reactions are considered bimolecular, and complete the substitution reaction in one step. The main
components of these reactions are the nucleophile and the leaving group; a nucleophile replaces the
leaving group by donating its electrons to form a new bond to the carbon (Weldegirma). For this
experiment, the nucleophiles and leaving groups of the Sn1 reactions are alkyl halides and alcohols
respectively. When a hydrogen atom is replaced by halogen in an alkane, the resulting compound is
referred to as a alkyl halide. There are certain factors that affect both Sn1 and Sn2 reactions which
include the structure of the substrate, and the concentration and reactivity of the nucleophile (Sn2
only). If a

Persuasive Essay About Homework
Can you agree that lately homework is being largely misguided? Can you agree that homework is
being abused without producing its primary intended results? I highly urge you on behalf of all
students operating through this system; change is needed. The current use of homework may be
contributing to the decline in the motivation of students; therefore, interfering with their academic
potential. Evidently, there has been an abundance of research which shows how homework is
detrimental to a teen s self confidence, social skills, overall health, and most importantly their attitude
towards school. Why am I directing this straight to the teachers? Teachers have full control over what
they hand out and what they demand from students. Teachers also have the authority to practice their
style of teaching and alter them accordingly. Every teacher should consider the unhealthy and negative
outcomes which come with the homework system. In every student s life, a teacher is another
character you will meet who is supposed to guide, motivate, and support you through your journey in
life. Teachers are rather more like mentors. However, this concept has escaped for a majority of
students because of the pressure and the endless amount of stress which is constantly being stacked on
top of each other. In 2013, researchers from Stanford surveyed more than 4,300 students from high
schools in California. One of the questions the researchers asked the students was; did you experience

Implementing the Ramsar Convention in Developing Countries: The Role of Local Community
Support and Involvement
Over the last two decades, a consensus has gradually emerged that long term conservation depends on
understanding and support from those closely connected to the environment and its resources (Shine,
Klemm, 1999.) Several international environmental conventions have reflected this consensus by
establishing a legal basis to involve local communities, especially those in developing countries, in
their implementation. Recent changes in the focus of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands are
consistent with this global trend towards emphasizing the importance of community support and
involvement. Adopted in Ramsar, Iran on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By contrasting and comparing case studies in developing countries with varying degrees of wetland
conservation success, it is clear that local community involvement and support of conservation is
critical to success. Acknowledging this, those sites with unsuccessful wetland conservation have
begun to plan initiatives to promote community participation and support.
This study focuses solely on wetland conservation in developing countries, where lifestyles and lack
of government capacity make community support and involvement in wetland conservation policies
and practices particularly important. People in the developing world are more closely connected to the
environment than those in developed countries. Since they rely more directly on the extraction of
natural resources and use of natural services for their sustenance and economy, their lifestyles have a
more direct impact on the immediate ecosystem. Given that all countries, but especially developing
countries...need to enhance their internal capacity to manage their environmental protection and
sustainable development, a lack of national and state government capacity results in a greater need for
the support and involvement of local communities in wetland conservation (Susskind, et al. 2002).
Since developing country governments may not have the finances, institutions, or knowledge to
strictly enforce their wetland conservation policies, community policy support is

Annotated Feedback
To conclude, the idea of teaching writing with CALL definitely offers much in the way of learning
value. Particularly the concept of giving feedback to a learner in a variety of approaches gives more
potential for learning than previously ever predicted. The many different forms of feedback discussed
in this assignment isolate different learning methods and responses from a student. There are two
studies that look specifically into how effective online learning environments are and both indicated
that automated feedback adds significance to student writing, although students do not appear to enjoy
the process as much as being in a classroom. These studies identify two important points, that learning
how to write should be engaging and that other real people tend to make it more so. Of these two
studies, one was a huge data sample and one was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was found that embedded audio feedback is not as preferred by the students as written feedback,
even though it offered much more detail to the specific feedback being given. This was probably to do
with the technology but if students were asynchronously checking their writing, it needs to be simple
and attractive for them to enjoy doing it. With written feedback, the information is present in front of
the student to quickly adapt their writing. In regards to synchronous and asynchronous feedback from
a teacher, synchronous was preferred whilst writing, although asynchronous does have its place.
Students struggled to determine the learning value if they were not correcting their work as they wrote
and returning to fix it later made the work more tiresome. Additionally, peer feedback was less
preferred than teacher feedback in online settings. This is probably because peer feedback is not
always trustworthy and often peers do not know how to correct what needs

How Did Winston Churchill Impact The World
Winston Churchill is perhaps known as England s most famous Prime Minister. His brief career in
office in WWII brought England through the war relatively unscathed, as well as the rest of the Allies.
His political career, while no doubt less lustrous, was no less impressive, making several radical
changes to how England operated. Many of his acts not only impacted his home country, but also the
world. Churchill was truly a great man as well as one of the best world leaders. Winston Leonard
Spencer Churchill, or Winnie, was born on November 30th, 1874. His father was Lord Randolph
Churchill, a British statesman. He had been born into a respected family, and passed down his ways of
life to Winston. Winston s mother was Jeanette Jerome, otherwise known as Jennie, a socialite from
New York. Winston grew up in Dublin, Ireland, along with his parents. For work, his father was a
secretary for his grandfather, John Spencer Churchill. Winston did poorly in school, preferring not to
follow the rules of his teachers. After leaving two schools, Winston was sent to Harrow School, a
boarding school, in April of 1888. He joined the Harrow Rifle Corps there, hoping to be a part of the
military. However, it did not turn out well at first, as Winston failed the exam to get into the British
Royal Military College twice. He eventually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Bacterial Tannase Enzyme Lab Report
Bacterial tannase enzyme were purified from the 24 h old solid state culture filtrate of E. cloacae by
two step purification protocol consisting of ammonium sulfate precipitation (60%) followed by
chromatography techniques, Ion exchange chromatography (DEAE) and Gel filtration
chromatography (Sephadex G 100). In the final step, Ion exchange chromatography enzyme was
purified 1.96 fold with 20.25% recovery and specific activity of 5.51U/mg, and then gel filtration
chromatography enzyme was purified 1.45 fold with 29.97 recovery and specific activity of 4.08 U/mg
(Table ). The purification of tannase from microbial source generally involves sequential
chromatography techniques, mainly, ion exchange, gel filtration chromatography techniques (Qiu et
al., 2011; Goncalves et al., 2011). In these steps, a considerable amount of enzyme is lost due to auto
lysis and some remain physically adsorbed on the matrix. To overcome these constraints, single

monomeric in its structure. Noteworthy, the MALDI TOF MS analysis (Fig. 1) of purified tannase also
indicated the presence of a single strong peak at m/z 52,000, thus definitelyruling out any possibility
of multimeric protein being responsible for tannase activity. Previously, Klebsiella pneumonia and
Lactobacillus plantarum tannase were also found to be monomer with molecular mass of 50 and 46.5

The Importance Of Educational Psychology
Educational Psychology fosters an understanding for student development and helps teachers be
effective, design lessons and make a difference for their students. First we must define what education
psychology is, and how it applies student development and to the education community. The textbook,
Educational Psychology written by Anita Woolfolk, (2012), defines educational psychology as, A
distinct discipline with its own theories, research methods, problems, and techniques. Educational
psychologists do research on learning and teaching and, at the same time, work to improve educational
practice. (p. 12). Essentially, educational psychology is the study and research behind creative and
effective learning strategies and the principles for development and learning. It enables teachers to
reach and engage their students at the highest level of learning with effective learning strategies.
Learning educational psychology through the study of cognitive development and the influences on
children and adolescents as they grow, the implication of moral and identity development, as well as
obligations teachers have professionally to create safe learning environments that promote high
expectations and inclusion of all learners, helps teachers to nurture and understand their students. For
example, learning about student diversity and culture, characteristics, learning levels, how to design
and present content, enhance classroom management creating a safe effective learning

Mobile phone design
Introduction
After careful market research of some of the different phone markets in today s industry; the market
that was the most interest to the writer was the disability phone market. Of all the mobile phones
researched, none were found to have Braille included; only speaking activated commands designed to
send text messages as well as calling. The idea the writer proposes is a phone for the visually impaired
which has a sole purpose for calling people. The keys will be fitted with Braille so that the individuals
are able to effectively feel what number they are pressing.

Strategy
The push/pull strategy involves creating demand from two aspects; push strategy involves the demand
being created by the manufacturer s distributers, and pull relates to the manufacturer creating demand
via their own promotion techniques (Frazier and Summers, 2011). The brand will follow a pull
strategy because it is envisioned that demand will be created through advertising and an effective,
unique selling point. This is good because through a push strategy, it is sometimes required to
distribute a higher volume of goods, which is better related to a mobile phone industry with a larger
audience, unlike the niche, disabled market. Another benefit of this is that because the developing
brand is unheard of an unproven; preventing stock piling of products if they are not sold, saving
money. Although, a pull strategy will require a large investment for advertising, it is estimated that the
cost of production and potential stock piling outweighs this in fiscal terms. Relating to the objectives,
the pull strategy will aid the

The Communist Manifesto By Sigmund Freud
Sigmund Freud, was a neurologist that mainly focused on psychoanalytical theories for psychology.
His most famous research was done during the late 19th and early 20th century, in which during this
time he wrote one of his most famous works Civilization and Its Discontents. In this book of his,
Freud manages to draw on many Enlightenment ideals and challenges some of these notions through
his theoretical analysis on the subconscious mind. In this book of his, Freud proposes that individual s
minds are divided into three distinct parts comprised of the ego, super ego, and the id. In his analysis
on these three parts of the mind, Freud encourageous individuals to regard their mind in emotional
qualities that are characterized by the id, ego, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this paper of his, Marx tackles many Enlightenment ideals but also challenges many with his
analysis on class struggle (bourgeoisie vs. working class), capitalism, and the development of society
as a result of these struggles. Marx s main proposal in The Communist Manifesto is that of historical
materialism , which is basically self divided into two parts: historically and materialistic. Historically,
Marx defines history as a change from the past to present in which the present relies on analysis of the
past to ensure progress. Furthermore, Marx regards that relations in the past have continually been
subject to historical change consequent upon the change in historical conditions .7 The analysis of the
past is consequent with the present as it is dependent with progress. Without analyzing the past, Marx
is stating that society in general will not learn from the class struggles that so aptly occupied society
during that time. The materialistic aspect of this, is prominent through Marx s explanation that the
economy of a society does not necessarily lead to distress and chaos in society, furthermore the
economy of a society is not to blame. In many ways Marx says that following every historical period,
the prevailing mode of economic production and exchange, and the social organization necessarily
following from it, form the basis upon which it is built up [...] .8

Importance Of Human Interaction In The Novel The Fault In...
In today s society, human interaction is a must. People crave relationships to fill a void in life, feeding
off of others in order to succeed as well as develop the social skills needed to persevere in the world.
Human interaction (such as building relationships with loved ones) is a very critical and crucial part in
life. In 1932, an experiment by Harry Frederick Harlow a well known psychologist involving rhesus
monkeys was conducted. In this experiment, Harlow and his colleagues separated newborn rhesus
monkeys from their mothers, holding each one in isolation chambers. The study showed that when
placed in total isolation for the first eights months of life, denying all contact with other infants or with
either type of surrogate mother, they were permanently damaged. The need to be accepted and cared
for by another person (or in this case primate) is inevitable. In the novel, The Fault In Our Stars , a
theme surrounding relationships is present and plays a major role in developing the story. John Green
not only shows the effects of cancer and its side effects, he also shows how those detriments on the
one fighting the battle can affect friends and family around them, as well as the importance of building
relationships while you still can. The protagonist, Hazel Grace Lancaster, closes out the world and
everyone in it, in hopes of minimizing her path of destruction that will be made after she dies. On the
other hand, Augustus Waters is the light at the end of her

Essay on MADD, A Driving Force for Change
M.A.D.D. is a political interest group for all mothers against drunk driving. It was specifically created
for mothers of kids who have fallen victim to drunk drivers, whether it be in injury or in death.
Founded on September 5th 1980, M.A.D.D. has made a huge impact on the government today and an
even bigger impact on society. The idea of M.A.D.D. was first introduced by a mother, Candice
Lightner, who lost her thirteen year old daughter in a car accident killed by an intoxicated driver. She
took action and initiative after the loss of her daughter to help prevent drunk driving accidents so other
parents wouldn t have to go through the grief of the loss of a loved one, especially their son or

All of their efforts were supported and encouraged by the government, government corporations,
educators, the public and the media. The mothers mission statement was also officially changed in
1999 in order to put focus on preventing underage drinking. The mission of Mothers Against Drunk
Driving is to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent underage
drinking was then the new mission of M.A.D.D. and is still used to this day. In the year 2000,
M.A.D.D. was nationally recognized for supporting the law that the legal limit of driving while
intoxicated should be lowered from .10 to .08. The law was passed in 2005 by congress all throughout
the United States, making the chance of an intoxicated person driving and injuring themselves or
others much lower. Also, as the result of lobbying and M.A.D.D. s efforts in changing the law, the
state of California also passed a law that enhanced the penalties and fines for re offenses of DUI
charges as well as prevented minors from purchasing alcohol. Five different bills have been signed to
add weight to the DUI charges, as well as prevent minors from obtaining fake ID s by cracking down
on security measures and rules in liquor stores. In the state of Rhode Island, M.A.D.D. is spreading the

The Art Of Public Speaking Summary
In chapter one of The Art of Public Speaking , Lucas begins by talking about the power of public
speaking he lists all the incredible people foreign and domestic who have spread there ideas and
influences through the art of public speaking. Lucas uses a quote from the Greek leader Pericles , One
who forms a judgement on any point but cannot explain it clearly might as well never have thought at
all on the subject ( Lucas,2012,p.4) Lucas uses this point to clarify the fact that you have to know a lot
about the subject you are speaking on to gain credibility. Later on in chapter one Lucas talks about
developing confidence while speaking in front of a group of people . Lucas goes on to give statistics
like public speaking is the number one fear for 40% of americans according to a 2001 Gallup Poll.
After stating some statistics he begins to give some tips on how to gain confidence in public speaking.
Lucas ends chapter one by discussing speaking in a multicultural world. America is the most diverse
society on earth, therefore as cultural diversity increases speechmaking becomes more complex. the
complexity comes from the differences in languages and meaning. Even basic messages are culturally
based. Lucas is trying to convey that you have to be culturally aware when you are giving speeches to
a large group of people. After reading chapter 1 of The Art of Public Speaking , I have came to the
realization that preparing for a speech is more than doing research and planning out

Are People Inherently Good Or Evil
The concept of whether or not humans are inherently good or evil is as complex and just as regularly
debated by philosophers as to whether or not there is an afterlife. Now if we temporarily ignore the
grey scale that is moral and immoral and the fluctuations it may have based on individual morals and
instead use a generalisation of what is good and bad, (this consisting of the obvious murder, rape etc)
we can freely debate if human nature is inherently good or evil. There are some philosophers like
Clancy Martin who argue that people are mostly good but there are also others like Alan Strudler who
are more pessimistic and comeback with The idea that people are good because they do mostly good

This compelling piece of literature explores the idea of two worlds; the world of light and the world of
darkness. The world of light is described by Sinclair as The parental home...its name was Mother and
father, it was love and strictness, education and example. What belonged to this world was gently
shining radiance, clarity, and cleanliness; quiet friendly conversation; washed hands, clean clothes,
good behaviour. (Hesse 1919, p.3) To be direct this parental world consisted of his home and the
church; all that was seen as good, pure and moral. While the other world was the opposite and
everything outside the home on the streets and the public schools. Sinclair firsts extends his hand to
the other world when he lies about stealing apples in order to impress a young boy named Kromer
which causes Sinclair to torment himself and thus allows Kromer to do the same when he blackmails
him. This is where Sinclair meets his first mentor, Max Demian. This mentor taught Sinclair many
wonders and causes him to go into a bout of self discovery. After years of switching between the two
worlds, he discovers a god named Abraxas. Damian had once discussed with Sinclair the God Jehovah
and how everything that is pure and sacred is given to him while everything that is sinful is seen as the
devils. He explains that he believes both worlds should be worshipped as a whole and you must either
find a god that is both the Father and the devil or have two gods. This is why the god Abraxas
intrigues Sinclair to such a degree as he is the god that reigns over both heavenly and demonic; the
combination of the two worlds. This ancient Greek and Egyptian deity shows Sinclair and the reader
that a person should not be so concerned and concentrated on immoral

Upon watching the video on the Angola Prison Hospice I became more aware of the importance of the
role of nurses/healthcare professionals in this particular setting. The healthcare professionals and
volunteers of the hospice program play an imperative role in providing not only care in terms of
temporary pain relief or for terminal patients, daily medications, but also care in terms of humanizing
the patients in the prison; not treating them in regards to their crimes, but treating them with the same
morality and thoughtfulness that they would any patient and Roach s 6 C s serves as a foundation to
those behaviors. As a volunteer or healthcare professional in the Angola Prison Hospice I would
implement the use of Roach s 6 C s through my everyday behaviors at work. Roach s first C is
compassion. We are all human beings and regardless of whether one is a patient in a prison hospital or
a patient in a children s hospital, we are naturally inclined to put ourselves in that person s shoes and
relate to their pain. By showing empathy towards my patient and their family, that enables me to build
a rapport with my patient and his/her family and open a line of trust and communication between us.
Relating to my patient and understanding his/her pain and discomfort allows me to place myself in a
position to further express my compassion. I would refrain from judging my patient on the nature of
his/her crimes because I personally, believe in forgiveness.

Key Concepts 4.1 Globalizing Networks For Communication...
Key Concepts 4.1 Globalizing Networks for Communication and Exchange.
4.1 The degree of global interconnection greatly increased after 1500 CE at which point it started to
include the Americas, and parts of the world it had not before. BEfore this time period the globe was
only connected in the eastern hemisphere and places were not as open and involved with one another
everywhere. After this time period trade of materials, people, and crops became more prominent and
new things were introduced to new areas, this was mainly due to the introduction of water based trade
and the introduction of the Americas to the rest of the globalized world.
4.1.1 The global trade network introduced after 1500 CE affected the pre existing trade routes only in
that there was a new trade network that was becoming prominent so some other trade routes started to
get used less and by different people. An example of this would be how the Europeans did not travel
on the Silk Road as often because they had a new means of transportation and trade that took them to
another part of the world. But overall there was not an extremely large impact on the pre existing trade
routes in the world.
4.1.11 A The development and improvement of maritime tools such as compasses, boats, and maps
made the transoceanic European trade and travel possible. This is because the new developments
made it easier to travel for longer periods of time and it was easier to get where someone needed to be
without getting lost.

Lab Report On Iron Stoichiometry
Copper/Iron Stoichiometry
Grace Timler
AB1
October 3, 2017 Abstract
The techniques used in this lab are quantitative transfer and vacuum filtration with the reaction of
8.001 grams of copper (II) sulfate, CuSO4, and 2.0153 grams of iron powder, Fe. The goal of this
experiment was to determine the product of copper (II) sulfate with iron. The reaction occurred and
2.4469 grams of solid copper, Cu, precipitated; therefore, showing that the limiting reagent was iron.
The iron oxidation state was iron (II) because iron (II) sulfate was formed during the reaction. The
percent yield of the reaction was 106.7%.

The solid was washed over vacuum filtration with a 15.0mL DI water rinse. Then the solid was
washed again by four 15.0mL rinses of acetone. The copper was dried over the vacuum filtration for
exactly 10 minutes, so there was no excess water and the copper did not oxidize. Then the mass of the
crucible was taken again with the product included using the same analytic balance as before, which
came out to be 32.9490 grams. The amount of solid copper collected was 2.4469 grams, calculated by
subtracting the initial weight of the crucible from the final weight.
Results
The empty sintered glass crucible had a mass of 30.5021 grams (table 1). Then the reaction occurred
and the copper precipitate was collected the crucible plus product had a mass of 32.9490 grams.
Therefore, the mass of the precipitated copper was 2.4469 grams. The moles of CuSO4 and Fe used
and the moles of Cu precipitated are shown in Table 2.

Animal Soldiers
Do you give [a] horse its strength or clothe its neck with a flowing mane? Do you make him leap like

Dogs were one of the greatest alliances the U.S has joined with and this alliance would continue to
grow and improve war efforts.
In World War II dogs were being used more than ever. Forces began using dogs as defense in hand to
hand combat. Cable laying dogs had sizable spools of telephone cable hitched to their backs. They d
head out into the field so that soldiers on the front lines would be able to communicate with troops
back at base camps or other central command units (Rogak 52) Horses and camels may have vanished
during World War II because of the mass expansion of technology, but dogs still remained. Patrolling
with dogs lessened the danger of ambush and tended to boost the morale of soldiers.
Just like humans had recruitments animals also had to be recruited. Dogs had to have no health
problems or diseases, and had to be around eighteen to thirty six years old. The dogs must be alert,
active, outgoing, and socializing towards people. The also had to have normal mobility at walking and
running speeds. The coat had to be clean with no matted fur and they had to have normal dental
hygiene with all four K 9 teeth present. The dogs could not be over aggressive do to risk of injury
towards handlers and other dogs (Rogak 30).

in World War I and was in more than seventeen battles. He was the first dog to

In male dominated cultures sex roles are sharply differentiated. There is a clear role distribution which
suggests itself in the fact that men are superior to women and men normally occupy management
positions. Hence, the focus is on achievement, competition and fighting . However, in female oriented
cultures genders are less distinguished and both genders play the same role. These cultures stress care,
compromise and harmony.
The fourth dimension called Uncertainty Avoidance aims at the way people try to get a grip on
unpredictable and ambiguous situations. People living in a culture with strong uncertainty avoidance
have fear of the unknown. Therefore elaborate rules, regulations, and clear orders exist. Cultures with
a low uncertainty avoidance tolerate differences, unanticipated situations and are more open toward
change. People make decisions which are subject to individual discretion and which are based on
more universal rules.
Long Term Orientation vs. Short Term Orientation relate to the choice between future and present
virtue. In other words, Hofstede s last dimension can be seen as an indicator for a society s attitude
toward time and tradition. Values associated with Long Term
Orientation are thrift, filial piety and perseverance. Young people should sacrifice their pleasures of
their life at their young age for the sake of the benefit of their future. Values associated with Short

about her trip to the Great Blasket Islands. I have her for English and she got me hooked the first time
she mentioned she would be doing her chat over her trip. The first chat I went to was over Greek life
and the whole era in general. The most interesting story that the professor told was about Oedipus.
Laius and Jocasta are the king and queen on Thebes. The king goes to a fortune teller because they are
having trouble conceiving a child. He is told, they will have a child, but his son will kill him and
marry and have children with the queen. They send the child to someone far away, so the prophesy
cannot be filled. The young boy ends up becoming a king somewhere else then goes out and meets his
father and they fight and he kills his father. He had no idea who the man was. He ventures out and
kills a sphynx and then becomes king because of that. He never thought the place he now ended up at
was supposed to be his true home. He marries the current queen and the prophesy is filled. The story
shows there are some things you cannot escape but you make your own legacy at the same

Rebelling Colors. Carlos Cruz-Diez, “Chroma May Be...
Rebelling Colors
Carlos Cruz Diez, Chroma may be interpreted as breaching the routine pattern of hue in everyday
scale.
Carlos works is based on his groundbreaking color theory and art philosophy. Most of his works
consist of site specific installations and new innovations in the field of color theory and developing
new color patterns and applying them to everyday space. His gallery pushes my attention towards his
experimental work and focuses on multidisciplinary nature of his practice.
When I got into Carlos Chroma gallery in SCAD Museum of Art, you can see his inductive color
phenomenon is structured. I can visualize two major points out of the structure one is the use of color
contrast and the other is Induced color. His choice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After spending a little amount of time with the illustration, I understand that the third color was just an
illusion. Which makes me think of the process. Then I realized my phone, television, digital camera,
etc. a great amount of color I perceive are not actually present . What I see is a rich and studied
mixture of different primary light colors. The mix was made by the brain through my visual organs.
This relates to the RGB system that creates all perceptible colors from the mixture of red, green and
blue. Human eye receptors are especially sensible to these three colors. Now the RGB colors are
provoking me to look into them in a much deeper sense and all his works have this strong
representation of colors. These colors have a strong impact on my emotions. Then to my surprise, I
met with another piece of work from his gallery called Douches D Induction Chromatique. It is
closely related to the phenomenon of retinal persistence. The installation has three semitransparent
cylinders with three different RGB colors basically red blue and green. Initially, I was completely
blank and do not have any thoughts are assumptions about that artwork. At first, I entered the Red
tinted cylinder and decided to dedicate 2 mins for each cylinder with a different color. As the time
runs, the impact of the red tint is increasing faster with seconds. All I can see is red tented
surroundings. The visuals which I was passing through were

The Idea Of Women And Men Use Language Differently
Discuss the idea that Women and Men use Language differently.
The data on Table 1 shows that the men in the meeting had more turns but there was an exception
(woman D) and the men in the meeting generally spoke for longer per turn but again there was an
exception (woman B). Additionally men also interrupted more (except for man E), and men were
interrupted more except Man E and Man I, therefore there is no significant pattern in terms of which
gender was interrupted more.
Robin Lakoff found that women s language lacks authority when compared to that used by men and
she believes that women use many techniques in their speech that are deficient to men s speech. In the
Deficit Model Robin Lakoff describes male language as stronger, more prestigious and more
desirable. She argues that women are socialised into behaving like ladies . She gives examples of
language techniques women use that make their language seem deficient these include, fillers, hedges
e.g. sort of , you know , intensifiers e.g. so , weak expletive terms e.g. oh dear , empty adjectives e.g.
charming, sweet, hypercorrect grammar and tag questions which shows uncertainty e.g. isn t it?
Moreover she interprets that women use more precise colour terms e.g. mauve, magneta.
I agree that women use these techniques but they don t make women deficient to men. For example,
the use of intensifiers if someone says This chocolate is very tasty and another says This chocolate is
tasty . This doesn t make

The Science Of Determination The Figure Of The Earth
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Research Background:
Geodesy is considered, according to Bruns (1878) and Helmert (1884), as the science of determination
the figure of the earth as well as its gravitational field. This covers the basic general form of the earth
as a flattened rotational ellipsoid and the visible topographic surface resulted from gravitational
attraction of uneven inner masses. Thus, physical and geometric aspects are inseparably correlated
(Moritz 2015).
In geodesy, the figure of the earth refers to the figure extracted physically or mathematically from the
true surface of the earth (Moritz 1990). This includes the geoid and the reference ellipsoid along with
the normal ellipsoid. While the geoid can be interpreted as the physical figure of the earth, the
reference ellipsoid can be considered as the mathematical figure of the earth, and the normal ellipsoid
can be considered as the mathematical and physical figure of the earth. However, the reference
ellipsoid and the normal ellipsoid are a close approximation of the geoid. Hence, the figure of the
earth studied in geodesy mainly refers to the figure of the geoid (Lu et al. 2014).
Geoid is defined as an equipotential surface of the earth s gravity potential, where the mean surface of
the oceans particularly forms a part (Hofmann Wellenhof and Moritz 2005). On oceans, the geoid
agrees with the mean sea surface, more precisely, with a calm ocean surface subjected only to the
force of gravity, which is assumed

Examples Of Resistance To Change The most dramatic example of resistance to change that I have encountered has been the change to an electronic medication administration record (MAR) and electronic treatment administration record (TAR). In response to some major systems issues with the paper MAR/TAR system, the corporate team for our skilled nursing facility (SNF) decided that our facility would transition to an eMAR/eTAR system. However, this was not communicated to the facility until the Monday prior to the anticipated Friday rollout. The facility was also in our survey window and State was expected any day. Battle Of Peleliu Analysis A Battle Analysis of Peleliu The Battle of Peleliu is one of the United States Marine Corps bloodiest battles that is underappreciated because it held no such tactical value in the allied forces strategy to win the war in the Pacific theater, Sledge (2007) tells us: the battle of Peleliu resulted in the 1st Marine Division suffering more than twice as many casualties as the 2nd Marine division had on Tarawa. • 4. Wireless Communications, The Radio Industry With the recent surge in wireless communications, the radio industry has seen an increase in the number of different communication standards each requiring its own specific hardware and processing. Our project addresses the need for radio interoperability with these various standards through the development of hardware generators for a software defined radio (SDR) system. These hardware generators will be created using Chisel, a hardware construction language. When given a set of parameters or constraints, the hardware generators will automatically output circuit designs for the given application thereby accelerating the hardware design process and introducing a new method for multi standard support. Specifically, our team will focus on the development of generators for the system s beamforming and MIMO blocks. For this reporting period, our team was responsible for updating our previous CORDIC block for incorporation in the carrier frequency offset correction (CFO) block. To refresh, the CORDIC block is simply a set of hardware efficient algorithms capable of performing hyperbolic and trigonometric calculations without the use of a hardware multiplier. By avoiding use of hardware multipliers, the CORDIC architecture reduces the number of logic gates required to perform these trigonometric calculations thereby saving significant circuit power and area in exchange for less accuracy. The offshore tax evasion is a problem that most countries face mainly because there are many structures that help sophisticated investors to avoid the payment of those taxes. After the 2008 global financial crisis, the United States was going through one of the most severe recession, the tax evasion crisis and the growing budget deficit was at it highest point, in 2009 President Obama stated during an interview I did not run for office to be helping out a bunch of, you know, fat cat bankers on Wall Street, making very clear his position about the bailouts and the general about the banking industry. It has been estimated the United States losses approximately $345 billion in tax revenue each year as a result of offshore tax abuse . One of the biggest scandals of offshore tax evasion was the UBS, Switzerland s largest bank, in 2009. The Obama s Administration came up with new approach in order to collect more revenue and try to tackle down the excessive offshore tax evasion problems, so in March of 2010 as a part of the Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment Act ( HIRE Act ), Foreign Account Tax Compliance (FATCA) was enacted, creating the sections 1471 to 1474 of the Internal Revenue Code creating a new chapter in the IRS code (Chapter 4). • 8. Why Math Is Important For Teaching Mathematics And How... Math Philosophy Paper Math is developing concepts or standards that s important for teaching mathematics to students from Pre K to high school. In our changing world, those who understand and can do mathematics will have significant opportunities and options for shaping their future. (NCTM 2000, p.50). The two important tools to be an effective teacher is knowledge of mathematics and how students learn mathematics. The purposes of math education effect our life since the time we were able to walk. We were taught how to count on our fingers to being able to write our numbers to ten. Then as we got older, concepts were more challenging and involved critical thinking to solve the problems. In society today, math is being utilized in simple to complex avenues such as grocery shopping, measuring, budgeting, investments, architecture, science and technology to name a few. If we take a look around our environment signs, buildings, bridges, streets and just the different patterns and shapes all relate back to mathematics. My role as a math teacher in the classroom would be creating an inviting math environment for my students, being able to explain math to all my students in ways that they understand and model math in an effective way. I want to be a leader, share my knowledge, engage and challenge my students, support them, respect them, be positive and keep them interested in math. Failing to prevent or mitigate the security flaws may lead to system breakdown, errors, and loss of crucial information. This is why it is important for users of information systems to find the right solutions that can help counter and mitigate security flaws. One common problem with security flaws connected with information systems or networks is that the security flaws occur in multiples. Technological advances have, fortunately, made it possible for people and organizations to prevent and detect such security flaws using security strategies. Layered Security and Defense in Depth are two strategies that can help prevent attacks and protect information systems against security flaws. The two strategies are similar but are based on completely two different concepts. This paper compares and contrasts the Layered Security and Defense in Depth Strategies by explaining how each of the two functions. Additionally, the paper includes an explanation about the advantages and disadvantages of the two strategies. Layered Security refers to the use of a collection of or various tools to cover the gaps in security not covered by other tools. Layered Security operates on one principle in that there is no silver bullet when protecting networks or computers (Chatterjee, Hora, Rosoff, 2015). • 17. Reactivity Of Tert-Butyl Chloride Lab Report Courtney Copeland Alexis Madrazo TA: Katrinah Tirado October 10, 2017 Synthesis and Reactivity of tert butyl Chloride via an Sn1 Reaction Copeland 1 Introduction/Background Substitution reactions are important chemical processes that contribute to the production of new compounds. Simplistically, these reactions take place through a series of steps in which one functional group is replaced by another (March). There are two types of nucleophilic substitution reactions, first order and second order, but this experiment only involves the Sn1 first order reactions. Sn1 reactions are considered unimolecular meaning that only one molecule is involved in the rate determining step, the slowest step of the reaction which determines the overall speed of the reaction. In contrast, Sn2 reactions are considered bimolecular, and complete the substitution reaction in one step. The main components of these reactions are the nucleophile and the leaving group; a nucleophile replaces the leaving group by donating its electrons to form a new bond to the carbon (Weldegirma). For this experiment, the nucleophiles and leaving groups of the Sn1 reactions are alkyl halides and alcohols respectively. When a hydrogen atom is replaced by halogen in an alkane, the resulting compound is referred to as a alkyl halide. There are certain factors that affect both Sn1 and Sn2 reactions which include the structure of the substrate, and the concentration and reactivity of the nucleophile (Sn2 only). If a ... Evidently, there has been an abundance of research which shows how homework is detrimental to a teen s self confidence, social skills, overall health, and most importantly their attitude towards school. • 26. How Did Winston Churchill Impact The World Winston Churchill is perhaps known as England s most famous Prime Minister. His brief career in office in WWII brought England through the war relatively unscathed, as well as the rest of the Allies. His political career, while no doubt less lustrous, was no less impressive, making several radical changes to how England operated. Many of his acts not only impacted his home country, but also the world. Churchill was truly a great man as well as one of the best world leaders. Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill, or Winnie, was born on November 30th, 1874. His father was Lord Randolph Churchill, a British statesman. He had been born into a respected family, and passed down his ways of life to Winston. Winston s mother was Jeanette Jerome, otherwise known as Jennie, a socialite from New York. Winston grew up in Dublin, Ireland, along with his parents. For work, his father was a secretary for his grandfather, John Spencer Churchill. Bacterial Tannase Enzyme Lab Report Bacterial tannase enzyme were purified from the 24 h old solid state culture filtrate of E. cloacae by two step purification protocol consisting of ammonium sulfate precipitation (60%) followed by chromatography techniques, Ion exchange chromatography (DEAE) and Gel filtration chromatography (Sephadex G 100). In the final step, Ion exchange chromatography enzyme was purified 1.96 fold with 20.25% recovery and specific activity of 5.51U/mg, and then gel filtration chromatography enzyme was purified 1.45 fold with 29.97 recovery and specific activity of 4.08 U/mg (Table ). The purification of tannase from microbial source generally involves sequential chromatography techniques, mainly, ion exchange, gel filtration chromatography techniques (Qiu et al., 2011; Goncalves et al., 2011). In these steps, a considerable amount of enzyme is lost due to auto lysis and some remain physically adsorbed on the matrix. Noteworthy, the MALDI TOF MS analysis (Fig. 1) of purified tannase also indicated the presence of a single strong peak at m/z 52,000, thus definitelyruling out any possibility of multimeric protein being responsible for tannase activity. Previously, Klebsiella pneumonia and Lactobacillus plantarum tannase were also found to be monomer with molecular mass of 50 and 46.5 kDa, respectively (Sivashanmugam Jayarama 2011; Iwamoto et al., 2008). • 28. The Importance Of Educational Psychology Educational Psychology fosters an understanding for student development and helps teachers be effective, design lessons and make a difference for their students. First we must define what education psychology is, and how it applies student development and to the education community. The textbook, Educational Psychology written by Anita Woolfolk, (2012), defines educational psychology as, A distinct discipline with its own theories, research methods, problems, and techniques. Educational psychologists do research on learning and teaching and, at the same time, work to improve educational practice. (p. 12). Essentially, educational psychology is the study and research behind creative and effective learning strategies and the principles for development and learning. It enables teachers to reach and engage their students at the highest level of learning with effective learning strategies. Learning educational psychology through the study of cognitive development and the influences on children and adolescents as they grow, the implication of moral and identity development, as well as obligations teachers have professionally to create safe learning environments that promote high expectations and inclusion of all learners, helps teachers to nurture and understand their students. For example, learning about student diversity and culture, characteristics, learning levels, how to design and present content, enhance classroom management creating a safe effective learning ... This could therefore encourage other companies to develop other suitable day to day products to suit their needs also, which could furthermore promote the idea of developing a whole new organisation specially aimed at designing products to aid people with special needs. Strategy The push/pull strategy involves creating demand from two aspects; push strategy involves the demand being created by the manufacturer s distributers, and pull relates to the manufacturer creating demand via their own promotion techniques (Frazier and Summers, 2011). The brand will follow a pull strategy because it is envisioned that demand will be created through advertising and an effective, unique selling point. This is good because through a push strategy, it is sometimes required to distribute a higher volume of goods, which is better related to a mobile phone industry with a larger audience, unlike the niche, disabled market. Another benefit of this is that because the developing brand is unheard of an unproven; preventing stock piling of products if they are not sold, saving money. In this paper of his, Marx tackles many Enlightenment ideals but also challenges many with his analysis on class struggle (bourgeoisie vs. working class), capitalism, and the development of society as a result of these struggles. Marx s main proposal in The Communist Manifesto is that of historical materialism , which is basically self divided into two parts: historically and materialistic. Historically, Marx defines history as a change from the past to present in which the present relies on analysis of the past to ensure progress. Furthermore, Marx regards that relations in the past have continually been subject to historical change consequent upon the change in historical conditions .7 The analysis of the past is consequent with the present as it is dependent with progress. Without analyzing the past, Marx is stating that society in general will not learn from the class struggles that so aptly occupied society during that time. The materialistic aspect of this, is prominent through Marx s explanation that the economy of a society does not necessarily lead to distress and chaos in society, furthermore the economy of a society is not to blame. In many ways Marx says that following every historical period, the prevailing mode of economic production and exchange, and the social organization necessarily following from it, form the basis upon which it is built up [...] .8 ... • 31. Importance Of Human Interaction In The Novel The Fault In... In today s society, human interaction is a must. People crave relationships to fill a void in life, feeding off of others in order to succeed as well as develop the social skills needed to persevere in the world. Human interaction (such as building relationships with loved ones) is a very critical and crucial part in life. In 1932, an experiment by Harry Frederick Harlow a well known psychologist involving rhesus monkeys was conducted. In this experiment, Harlow and his colleagues separated newborn rhesus monkeys from their mothers, holding each one in isolation chambers. The study showed that when placed in total isolation for the first eights months of life, denying all contact with other infants or with either type of surrogate mother, they were permanently damaged. The need to be accepted and cared for by another person (or in this case primate) is inevitable. In the novel, The Fault In Our Stars , a theme surrounding relationships is present and plays a major role in developing the story. John Green not only shows the effects of cancer and its side effects, he also shows how those detriments on the one fighting the battle can affect friends and family around them, as well as the importance of building relationships while you still can. Lucas goes on to give statistics like public speaking is the number one fear for 40% of americans according to a 2001 Gallup Poll. After stating some statistics he begins to give some tips on how to gain confidence in public speaking. Lucas ends chapter one by discussing speaking in a multicultural world. America is the most diverse society on earth, therefore as cultural diversity increases speechmaking becomes more complex. the complexity comes from the differences in languages and meaning. Key Concepts 4.1 Globalizing Networks for Communication and Exchange. 4.1 The degree of global interconnection greatly increased after 1500 CE at which point it started to include the Americas, and parts of the world it had not before. BEfore this time period the globe was only connected in the eastern hemisphere and places were not as open and involved with one another everywhere. After this time period trade of materials, people, and crops became more prominent and new things were introduced to new areas, this was mainly due to the introduction of water based trade and the introduction of the Americas to the rest of the globalized world. 4.1.1 The global trade network introduced after 1500 CE affected the pre existing trade routes only in that there was a new trade network that was becoming prominent so some other trade routes started to get used less and by different people. An example of this would be how the Europeans did not travel on the Silk Road as often because they had a new means of transportation and trade that took them to another part of the world. But overall there was not an extremely large impact on the pre existing trade routes in the world. 4.1.11 A The development and improvement of maritime tools such as compasses, boats, and maps made the transoceanic European trade and travel possible. This is because the new developments made it easier to travel for longer periods of time and it was easier to get where someone needed to be without getting lost. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These cultures stress care, compromise and harmony. The fourth dimension called Uncertainty Avoidance aims at the way people try to get a grip on unpredictable and ambiguous situations. People living in a culture with strong uncertainty avoidance have fear of the unknown. Therefore elaborate rules, regulations, and clear orders exist. Cultures with a low uncertainty avoidance tolerate differences, unanticipated situations and are more open toward change. The data on Table 1 shows that the men in the meeting had more turns but there was an exception (woman D) and the men in the meeting generally spoke for longer per turn but again there was an exception (woman B). Additionally men also interrupted more (except for man E), and men were interrupted more except Man E and Man I, therefore there is no significant pattern in terms of which gender was interrupted more. Robin Lakoff found that women s language lacks authority when compared to that used by men and she believes that women use many techniques in their speech that are deficient to men s speech. In the Deficit Model Robin Lakoff describes male language as stronger, more prestigious and more desirable. She argues that women are socialised into behaving like ladies . She gives examples of language techniques women use that make their language seem deficient these include, fillers, hedges e.g. sort of , you know , intensifiers e.g. so , weak expletive terms e.g. oh dear , empty adjectives e.g. charming, sweet, hypercorrect grammar and tag questions which shows uncertainty e.g. isn t it? Moreover she interprets that women use more precise colour terms e.g. mauve, magneta. I agree that women use these techniques but they don t make women deficient to men. For example, the use of intensifiers if someone says This chocolate is very tasty and another says This chocolate is tasty . This doesn t make ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Science Of Determination The Figure Of The Earth CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Research Background: Geodesy is considered, according to Bruns (1878) and Helmert (1884), as the science of determination the figure of the earth as well as its gravitational field. This covers the basic general form of the earth as a flattened rotational ellipsoid and the visible topographic surface resulted from gravitational attraction of uneven inner masses. Thus, physical and geometric aspects are inseparably correlated (Moritz 2015). In geodesy, the figure of the earth refers to the figure extracted physically or mathematically from the true surface of the earth (Moritz 1990). This includes the geoid and the reference ellipsoid along with the normal ellipsoid. While the geoid can be interpreted as the physical figure of the earth, the reference ellipsoid can be considered as the mathematical figure of the earth, and the normal ellipsoid can be considered as the mathematical and physical figure of the earth. However, the reference ellipsoid and the normal ellipsoid are a close approximation of the geoid. Hence, the figure of the earth studied in geodesy mainly refers to the figure of the geoid (Lu et al. 2014). Geoid is defined as an equipotential surface of the earth s gravity potential, where the mean surface of the oceans particularly forms a part (Hofmann Wellenhof and Moritz 2005). On oceans, the geoid agrees with the mean sea surface, more precisely, with a calm ocean surface subjected only to the force of gravity, which is assumed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
