The International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) provides advice on sustainable fishing and marine protection. It models over 263 fish stocks, but its current modeling approach has challenges. It desires a more flexible and integrated approach available as a service. ICES is testing integrating its R environment with the BlueBRIDGE e-infrastructure, which would enable provenance management, collaboration, and utilizing high-powered computing while remaining in a familiar workspace. This may help ICES scientists focus on scientific development rather than technological complexity.

EUDAT is a cross-disciplinary data infrastructure project in Horizon 2020 that aims to provide a collaborative framework for managing the exponential growth of research data. It brings together several European research communities and over 25 user communities to develop shared services and solutions for storing, finding, accessing, and analyzing large amounts of complex research data. Some key services EUDAT provides include a metadata catalogue, persistent identifiers, data staging between storage and high performance computing, a simple store for uploading and sharing data, and safe replication of data across multiple sites. The goals of EUDAT in Horizon 2020 are to consolidate and improve its core services, ensure financial sustainability, enhance interoperability with other e-infrastructures, and help bridge national and European data solutions.

Discovering and accessing relevant data is a problem often faced by urban researchers, policy and decision-makers
across Australia. Several public, private and academic entities are establishing Data Hubs; online catalogues for data discovery, access and interrogation. Data Hubs are
typically web services accessible via a portal, often with narrow geographic or application focus, with varied levels of analytical and visualisation capability. The Australian Urban
Research Infrastructure Network (AURIN) is focused on providing better access to comprehensive datasets through a dedicated e-Infrastructure platform. The AURIN portal
will facilitate programmatic access to data held in many emerging Data Hubs across Australia. AURIN is implementing a federated data model, providing a single access point and common interface for interrogating datasets. This paper outlines the Data Hub concept, describing the process and benefits of Data Hub integration within the AURIN e-infrastructure contextNSF DataNet Partners Update at RDAP14
The NSF DataNet Program aims to create exemplar data infrastructure organizations called DataNet Partners to provide researchers with access to data and advance research. SEAD is one such DataNet Partner that provides lightweight data services for sustainability science. It acts as an active content repository and curation service, and is developing tools for community exploration of data. The current focus is on an end-user workshop, conference demonstrations, and interface redesign to refine models for supporting the full lifecycle of research data objects.
EOSC-synergy (CSIC)
EOSC-synergy receives funding from the EC via Horizon 2020 to expand capacities and build capabilities for the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) by leveraging national digital infrastructures. The project aims to foster greater integration of services and alignment of policies to help lower barriers to EOSC adoption. Key activities include deploying an EOSC-enabled infrastructure, designing strategies for national data repositories, integrating thematic services, and adding training as a fully-fledged EOSC portal component.
DARE: Delivering Agile Research Excellence on European e-Infrastructures
This document discusses the DARE project which aims to deliver a new working environment for scientists and research developers. It will present methods and tools to help domain experts understand and use big data technologies more effectively when working with extremely large and complex scientific datasets.
