This document provides instructions for a teacher conducting a TOEFL speaking test preparation lesson. The lesson includes exercises where the student answers common speaking test questions within time limits. For each exercise, the teacher times the student's response, provides feedback on fluency, structure, grammar, and vocabulary, and notes how long it took the student to prepare and deliver their answer. The lesson concludes with overall feedback for the student on their performance and areas for improvement.

- During the TOEFL test, you will be scored on your ability to speak clearly and
coherently about familiar topics.
- During the TOEFL test, you will be able to take notes during the reading and
audio portions of the test. You are permitted to use your notes to help prepare
your responses.

Please structure your lesson as follows:
1. After a brief introduction, ask the student the question in Exercise 1.
Please time the student. (15 seconds to prepare; 45 seconds to answer)
2. Provide feedback on the answer’s fluency, structure, and time.
• Correct mistakes in grammar, pronunciation, and use of expressions /
vocab.
• Structure: Good answers will begin with a conclusion or summary statement,
followed by supporting evidence / information. Your student should end
strong by restating the conclusion or summary.
• Tell the student how long his/her answer took to (a) prepare, and (b) deliver.
3. Work through the additional exercises, repeating step 2 for each exercise.
4. In the final 5 minutes, provide feedback on how your student performed
and highlight at least three areas for improvement.
