2. INTRODUCTION TO THE SLIDES
• I am sure, the presentation time will be one of the most hardest situations in the life of
a undergrad student.
• The only solution I can recommend is to PREPARE EFFECTIVELY.
• The phrase PREPARE EFFECTIVELY is not a hard task once you know the tips.
• So I am not going to deliver a great introduction which will make you close the
presentation…. LOL 
• So in the upcoming slides, I will be giving you some tips to prepare and present an
excellent presentation.

4. PURPOSE OF THE SEMINAR
• First of all, you should know the purpose of a seminar presentation
• They are
1. Exploring a new area/technology in your area
2. Sharing the knowledge you have gained in that particular area
3. As part of your academic curriculum   
• Unfortunately, most of the students out of fear and laziness, focusses on the third one.
But if you guys focus on 1 & 2… This seminar will be one of the most beautiful
moments in your academic life.

5. ORGANIZING THE SEMINAR SLIDES
• Here we will be discussing the following
– Title slide
– Outline of the presentation slide
– Introduction
– Literature review/ Evolution of that particular topic/ Background study
– Results
– Conclusion
– Scope for future work
• And some formatting, referencing and some general styles

6. TITLE SLIDE
• It should contain a GOOD TITLE first of all…
• If we are preparing based on a journal, don’t just COPY the paper title as it is…
• Title should not be very short and very long. Problem is that short title will be general
and it will not attract the audience and the large title will make the audience run away

• No need to number the title slide
• Don’t forget to include the name and specific details of the student
• Do not ALTER the slide format if provided by the college/university.

7. OUTLINE OF THE PRESENTATION
• This section gives a brief idea about the flow of the presentation.
• Many students will be detailing this slide.. But you should just tell this is the outline of
the presentation.
• No need to read out each terms in the outline
• Outline can be shown in bullets but you should not put the slide number and
numbering should be avoided.
• Outline can be of 2 types
– General
– Topic specific

8. INTRODUCTION SLIDE
• One of the main reason behind the POOR PRESENTATION is the poor introduction
about the topic.
• So my personal tip is to explore more on the net about your topic to make a PERFECT
INTRODUCTION. ( Believe me it will take time).
• A PERFECT INTRODUCTION make the audience more enthusiastic about what we are
going to say. So spend 2-3 minutes with the introduction slides(for that you will have
to give minimum one hour of browsing to make a time bound perfect introduction).
• For example you can refer to a recent event in the news, or an important technological
advancement or sometimes you can correlate with your day to day life

9. LITERATURE REVIEW/ EVOLUTION /
BACKGROUND STUDY
• This slide is usually found in project presentation in the name “LITERATURE REVIEW”,
but can also be included in the seminar in any of the above mentioned terms.
• This section will reveal the importance of your topic in the current scientific era.
• This brings out the names of the scientists around the world working in this area and
their contributions in this field.
• While doing literature review you should add only high impact journals/SCIE journals.
Adding poor quality journals will question the knowledge and understandings of the
student.

10. LITERATURE REVIEW/ EVOLUTION /
BACKGROUND STUDY
• While mentioning the names of authors follow the referencing style
– For two authors –
(Davis and Alex, 1990)
– For more than two authors –
(Davis et al., 1993)

11. RESULTS
• While explaining your results, try to put in a tabular form and some presentations need
to be in pictorial form like bar charts, pie charts and graphs.
• Because they are more powerful in explaining the right meaning.
• And they will keep the audience active while you try to explain the graph or chart.
• Believe me, no one will bother about your tables or writings, unless you make a mistake in that…
• Try to use excel, origin like software for interpreting the results into graphical data
• You can use open source software like GIMP for labeling the figures.

12. CONCLUSION & FUTURE SCOPE
• Try to write conclusions after referring reputed journal articles in your project area.
• Conclusion is not just writing results
• Try to include future scope in your slide, that shows this work has scope and can be
extended. It shows the relevance of our study

13. REFERENCES
• References must be written in standard formats like APA, MLA, Chicago, Turabian,
IEEE
• Always stick to one format
• Better to use Mendeley desktop for referencing. It helps in literature review and in
making the correct formats for reference.

14. LAST BUT NOT THE LEAST
• If you are going for a presentation
– Be prepared and take some mocks. BE COOL
– Carry a laser pointer with you (it will provide a standard feel)
– Acknowledge the resources and facilities provided for your research/project work
