This document discusses tide calculation using U.S. tide tables. It explains that tide tables are published in 4 volumes by the National Ocean Service covering different regions of the world. Each volume contains 5 common tables providing tide height predictions for reference stations and information to modify these for other locations. The document also defines several tidal datums used in tide calculations like Mean Lower Low Water and Mean Sea Level. Oxygen is variable yet close to expected ranges. Sizable oil sheens were sighted in Gig Harbor and Carr Inlet.

Jellyfish are still going strong in southern inlets. Ocean climate indices (PDO, NPGO and Upwelling Index) explain much of the variability in Puget Sound temperature, salt and oxygen. Nutrients, however, are steadily increasing while sub-surface algal pigments (chlorophyll a) are declining!

The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.

Each volume has 5 common tables:
• Table 1 contains a complete list of the predicted times and heights
of the tide for each day of the year at a number of places
designated as reference stations.
• Table 2 gives tidal differences and ratios which can be used to
modify the tidal information for the reference stations to make it
applicable to a relatively large number of subordinate stations.
• Table 3 provides information for finding the approximate height of
the tide at any time between high water and low water.
• Table 4 is a sunrise-sunset table at five-day intervals for various
latitudes from 76°N to 60°S (40°S in one volume).
• Table 5 provides an adjustment to convert the local mean time of
table 4 to zone or standard time. consecutive number to assist in
locating the entry in table 2.

Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) is the average height of the
lower low waters of each tidal day.
Mean Low Water (MLW) is the average height of all low waters at a
given place. About half of the low waters fall below it, and half
above.
Mean Sea Level (MSL) is the average height of the surface of the
sea for all stages of the tide over a 19 year period.
Mean High Water (MHW) is the average height of all high waters
over a 19 year period.
Mean Higher High Water (MHHW) is the average height of the
higher high waters of each tidal day.
