Why Is Winston Peacock Murder
The death of Winston Peacock was in fact a suicide, not a murder. Winston was found face down,
holding a gun. He used that gun to shoot himself in the head, thus killing himself. Winston had swords
and guns on the wall. They are in a crisscrossed pattern but one of the guns is missing. The reason as
to why it is missing is because the missing gun is the gun that he is grasping in his hand. Some might
believe somebody stole the gun, shot him, and run, but it is the exact same type of gun Winston is
holding, so a hit and run cannot be a factor. The gun is in his right hand and the right side of his head
is bloody. They indeed match up. If he were to hold the gun up to his head with it in his right hand, it
would be on the right side

Separation Anxiety And Its Effects On Children
Separation anxiety is very common as children grow and develop. They may fear those few moments
during daycare drop off or that initial first meeting with a new babysitter. These children will often
times grow out of this anxiety after they become familiar with their surroundings and caregivers. But,
if they continue having these separation anxiety induced outbursts, even after they have been with a
trusted caregiver for a time, parents and primary caregivers often worry about the well being of their
child and their child s development. They may believe that their child has acquired a Separation
Anxiety Disorder (SAD). I selected this topic because I work with multiple toddlers in a center and
their parents have expressed some minor worry towards whether or not their child suffers with SAD or
if this anxiety is causing them delays. I would love to be able to know some minor details about this
broad topic and refer them to the website and articles that I found helpful when writing this report.
This topic is important because it is has many symptoms that are similar to regular and
developmentally appropriate separation anxiety. When a child suffers from SAD, it is something that
needs attention by a pediatric professional in order for it not to affect the child later in life. The first
article that I read and reviewed was called Adult Agoraphobia and Childhood Separation Anxiety:
Using Children s Literature to Understand the Link . It was a fairly theoretical and made the

Tobbaco Companies in Indonesia
Tobacco industries are categorized as oligopolies. Oligopoly, according to McConnell Brue Flyyn s
textbook, is characterized by multiple firms, one or more of which will produce a significant portion
of industry output. Tobacco had been present in Indonesia since the 1600s. It was brought in to Java
Island by Portuguese merchants. At first, Indonesia s cigarettes were handmade at home. They were
rolled and wrapped with cornhusks, but that was a long time ago. The Indonesian tobacco industry
today is characterized by the dominance of big three tobacco companies Gudang Garam, Bentoel, and
Sampoerna. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once their sales come back to normal, using more machines instead of hiring thousands of people will
be more effective as it presses down the labor cost. Tobacco companies should invest more in doing
research to do a breakthrough invention so they could produce products that are healthier as the anti
cigarettes campaign is showing definite results. With e cigarettes that states themselves as healthier
products, maybe in the future the demand will shift again to e cigarettes. Only by discovering new
things that satisfy the customer s want and need will the company be successful.

Case: African Beer
SABMiller and Diageo are two largest beer producer in Africa. SABMiller, if combined with its
partnership with France s Castel Group, sells roughly 60% Africa s beer by volume. Diageo s also
expands its operation successfully that Senator Keg, its supercheap beer, is also now number two most
popular beers in Kenya. As these giant brewers monopolized Africa s beer market, it can be said that
the market has an oligopoly market structure, and both pursue identic operations, so the market can be
labeled as competitive. The interdependence that is happening between both brewers makes the
competition happens. As SABMiller produces Impala that is half price from its previous beer Manica,
Diageo produces Senator Keg to balance it. Diageo

How Did Primo Levi Survive The Holocaust
Rough Draft Surviving the holocaust was almost impossible but some manage to do so. Many people s
lives were changed due to one tragic event. While analyzing Primo Levi s life, we can conclude that
he was depressed by the torture he experienced in Auschwitz. His depression got worst as the years
went on. Primo Levi was born in 1919 in Turin. He was an Italian, an atheist, and a Jew. He went to
the University of Turin and graduated with chemistry Ph.D. Levi wasn t fond of the Italian literature
program (Paris Review). He says in an interview that he always loved chemistry. Primo Levi was a
man with very many friends, who nevertheless was isolated from the world by his depression
(jochnowitz). He was caught by the Fascist Militia and imprisoned ... Show more content on

When Primo Levi returned to Italy from the concentration camp, he was very eager to write all about
his experience that he wrote his first book. His first book that was published in 1947 was Survival in
Auschwitz. His cousin Anna Yona helped him by giving it to her editor at Little, Brown and Company
(jochnowitz). In this book, Primo Levi talks about every minute spent in Auschwitz. Primo Levi had a
very difficult time publishing this book. He makes the reader feel that they were there with him every
step survival. He does not write Survival in Auschwitz with any rage but instead with crucial facts.
Primo Levi does not talk about any hatred towards the Germans. He believes that his actions and
thoughts be the product, as far as possible, of reason (new republic). He knew that if he detested the
Germans he would be following the precepts of Nazism (new republic). All the different mentalities
needed in order to survive are explained in this book. Levi states that in order to survive Auschwitz
one must retain one s mental sanity, one must focus on small distractions ( ). Primo Levi s publishes
his second book The Reawakening 15 years later. This book is basically the older brother of Survival
in Auschwitz. The Reawakening and Survival in Auschwitz shares the same stories in the book. This
book was originally named the truce but later changed to the Reawakening. Primo Levi refers the
book to this time

Operant Conditioning In Jurassic Park
Zach and Gray were sent to Jurassic World to visit their Aunt Claire, who is the park s manager.
Jurassic World, a dinosaur amusement park built on the island that was once home to the original
Jurassic Park, sought to increase park attendance by genetically creating a new dinosaur. Masroni, the
owner of the amusement park, asks Claire to consult with American Navy veteran and Velociraptors
trainer Owen Grady on the new dinosaur s containment. This new attraction, the Indominus Rex,
proves to be extremely dangerous, uncontrollable, and uncontainable. The Indominus Rex ends up
escaping and goes around the island killing both people and dinosaurs. Claire decides to have the park
evacuated, but Zach and Gray ignore the evacuation order, opting ... Show more content on

The general response syndrome is known as Selye s concept of the body s adaptive response to stress
in three phases alarm, resistance, exhaustion (Myers, 2014, p.393). The constant stressor in the movie
would be the Indominus rex who poses as a threat to their safety and confronts them with the need to
stay alive, to survive. Phase one of the GAS, alarm, can be seen when Owen and the guard realize
Indominus is with them inside the paddock. We see them become more alert and we can guess that
their hearts have begun to race. During Phase 2, resistance, your temperature, blood pressure, and
respiration remain high. Your adrenal glands pump hormones into your bloodstream. You are fully
engaged, summoning all your resources to meet the challenge (Myers, 2014, p.393). Owen
experiences phase two as he runs as fast as he can towards the slight opening as Indominus follows
close behind. Adrenaline has kicked in and he s using everything in him to run faster. We can only
guess that Owen experiences Phase three, exhaustion, as he lies under a truck covered in oil or
gasoline, when we see him breath with relief after Indominus failed to distinguish his

The Importance Of Book 22 Of The Iliad
Book 22 of the Iliad (Death of Hector) extensively explores the need for bravery in the face of
impending danger. In the contemporary world, different parts of the world have experienced situations
that require people to stand up for the country. As seen recently in Europe, there has been a wave of
terrorist attacks in major cities in Germany and England and in response, gallant soldiers have fought
to keep the terrorists at bay, to avoid a repeat of the same. Citizens have also shown their humane side
by coming out in large numbers to help where they could by offering material or any other kind of
support. In this case, the focus is on how Hector valiantly stood up for his city, to fight for it despite
knowing that Achilles might probably ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Seeing that Hector would lose against Achilles, Zeus sympathizes with him and is tempted to rescue
him but is rebuked by Athena who says that Hector s fate is to die this way. Athena even states that
Hector s fate is beyond Zeus s ability to save him in which case he relents and allows fate to take its
course. In fact when Achilles fails to catch up with Hector, Athena tips the scales in Achilles favor.
She further poses as Hector s brother giving him false confidence that he has someone to support him
in the war that breaks out between the two. Athena assists Achilles in fighting Hector by handing him
back the spear while Hector is not aware. From the above description, Athena s character captures the
life of the societal members willing to go great heights for the destruction of their fellows. The same
energy she used to help Achilles, she could have used the same energy for the protection of Hector
who was fighting for a more worthy cause of defending his city and ridding it of the interference of
the outsiders. When Zeus tries using his power to save Hector, he is rebuked by Athena who claims it
is his fate to die in the hands of his enemies. The sharp contrasts between Zeus and Athena capture the
stark realities in the real world where there are people with good and ill motives. While there are those
who are willing to go out of their way for the good of the society,

Faith and Politics Essay
Faith and Politics
Nowadays, more so than ever before, religion plays a significant role in American presidential
elections. As citizens, our job is to examine that role and decide how it will affect our vote. The
Bush/Gore campaign has been very much influenced by religion. Joseph Lieberman, Gore s running
mate and the first Orthodox Jew to run for vice president on a major party ticket, has been extremely
vocal about his faith. Both George W. Bush and Al Gore, a Methodist and Baptist, respectively, have
also referred to their religious beliefs during this presidential campaign ( Anti Defamation League
Criticizes ), raising several questions about the part religious faith plays in presidential elections. First,
what role ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And now we think Senator Lieberman crossed it (Pellegrini). The ADL is concerned partly because of
the possibility that Lieberman s comments will rouse anti Semitism in the American public. The Pew
Research Poll found that of those bothered by the merging of religion and politics, 49 percent
supported Lieberman and 30 percent did not. The statistics were virtually the same among those who
reported they were not concerned with politicians discussing religion. These results show that, so far,
there doesn t appear to be any hostility against Lieberman. Examining the bigger picture, the poll
found that about three quarters of the American public have a positive view of Jews (Lester). This
means that while the public isn t annoyed because he s Jewish and referring to his faith; but perhaps
his references to his faith may be negatively pinned to his being Jewish changing our perception of
Jews. The Anti Defamation League is also concerned with the (not so popular) principle of separation
of church and state. We do not think that religion belongs in the political campaign and political arena,
Foxman declared to The New York Times. There s nothing wrong with somebody professing their
faith and going to church or synagogue, but this is almost hawking it (Pellegrini). In response to
Foxman s warning, Lieberman s spokesperson Kiki McLean reports that he respectfully

The Slaughterhouse By Upton Sinclair And Fast Food Nation...
Over the span of one century, the world has had significant changes to society, such as advancements
in transportation, fashion and technology. However, not all industries have had significant
advancements in today s modern world. For example, the food industry has been lacking in the basic
necessities needed to sustain a safe, humane work environment, especially in the meat industry.
Excerpts from The Jungle by Upton Sinclair and Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser elaborately
explain the horrible environments inside the factory. Schlosser mainly addresses how unfit the
conditions are for the workers, while Sinclair informs the reader of how the animals have been
neglected in such poor conditions before death. Despite their differing ... Show more content on

The fine was $480 for each man s death. (Schlosser). That any supervisor who loses a worker on the
job has to only pay a compensation fee of $480 is impossible to justify. One especially sad anecdote is
that of Kenny Dobbins, an uneducated man, who is repeatedly injured on the job, but keeps going
back until he is crippled and permanently disabled. This story speaks the truth of how meat packaging
corporations take their workers for granted by using them for everything they have, than discarding
them like a dirty rag. Corporations like slaughterhouses do not care about employees getting injured
because they know a majority of desperate immigrants would gladly have the morally degrading job.
Often, animals feelings and well being have been overlooked because society has instilled the idea
that animals have no emotions. The Jungle describes animals as being a worker s project that needs to
be completed within a given time limit. After hogs entered Durham s meat facility, they were chained
by the ankles and abruptly tossed around the room; the only audible sound was the high squeals and
low squeals, grunts, and wails of agony (Sinclair). The hogs anticipated in fear of what was to happen
next, bred to be slaughtered for the greater good of humankind. Sinclair describes the workers

Competitive Strategy and Competitive Advantages
1 Innovation is important because it allows differentiation from competitors, manufacturing is easier
and more flexible, the bar for competition is raised, and there is greater market segmentation. 2 Some
advantages of technological innovation are: a wider range of products and services can be delivered to
people, GDP has increased, people can communicate in every part of the world, the production of food
has become more efficient, and it has yield medical treatments to improve medical conditions. The
quality of life has improved. It has created new knowledge to solve practical problems. Disadvantages
include: harmful pollution to surrounding communities, erosion from fishing and agricultural
technologies, elimination of natural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2 Well developed firms are likely to adopt to new technologies instead of developing them because
new technologies does not have a dominant design. Established firms are very familiar with the
dominant design and do not experiment with new technologies. Instead, the established firms focuses
on new knowledge/understanding of existing technologies. It tries to improve products and make
production more efficient. New entrants are eager to experiment with new technologies because they
are introducing something new into the market; they can perhaps build on that to develop market
share. 3 The invention of a laptop with Internet is a radical innovation. It is portable, users can access
internet on the go without wires, and work can be done from anywhere. The laptop is competence
enhancing as it has built the way for other technologies (e.g. tablets). 4 S Curve technology
improvement: in the early stages, the technology is not understood and effort is put into understanding
the technology, when the understanding of the technology is better, improvements are accelerated. The
technology begins to gain legitimacy, more improvements are made and the

Quiet American Morality
Graham Greene s The Quiet American demonstrates the façade of morality in the world, specifically
in foreign affairs, and how it negatively affects humanity as the true ulterior motives pronounce
themselves. The Quiet American has many contemporary resonances; especially the complex role the
US has in world politics. The novel contains suggested criticism of the new US colonialism,
demonstrated in the Indochinese setting and personified in the character of Alden Pyle, the quiet
American .
Greene s first person narrator, Thomas Fowler, bears an intrigued, challenged and irritated attitude
towards Pyle, an earnest, naive young American, described by several characters as the quiet
American . He maintains a conservative, old fashioned and idealist ... Show more content on

As a war narrative, Greene s novel introduces the reader to modern warfare, the French use of napalm,
the local warlord in the form of General, the guerilla mode of the Viet Minh, predecessors of the Viet
Cong. Fowler s witnessing of a dive bombing of a sampan and a street massacre using bicycle bombs
have strong contemporary resonances to embedded journalists and the Middle East situation. As a
political document, it anticipates developments that have come to dominate global politics, especially
the use by the US of the domino theory to justify intervention in Vietnam (as in Cuba and Chile). It
reflects the Cold War focus on crushing communism and then the new colonialism of spreading a
particular definition and form of democracy. As a character study, the novel develops a detailed
portrait and makes a close examination of the psychology of men, competition and ageing. The love
triangle brings this into sharper focus, but Fowler s reactions to Pyle reveal a kind of alter ego
relationship. Pyle sees Fowler as cynical but straight, which is not totally accurate in his desperate bid
to hold on to Phuong. Pyle seems more self convinced but also far from innocent. He dies for his
cause, believing he protects both a woman and a country, but without the honor he naively prizes. He
represents an agent and sets the precedent for state backed terrorism making it unsurprising that Noyce
s film of The Quiet American was shelved in September

This diagram, at right, shows a graph (purple line) of chemical potential energy (vertical axis) versus a
reaction coordinate (horizontal axis), which here represents the progress of a reaction in which one
bond must break and a new bond forms. Examples of such reactions are provided by the many
isomerization reactions, such as the interconversion of cis 2 butene and trans 2 butene.
Let us first consider the forward reaction, A → B. Reactant molecules (A) in the system with enough
energy to reach the energetic peak, the transition state(symbolized by the double dagger, ‡) can
continue forward along the reaction coordinate to conversion to product B.
This minimum energy required is the activation energy. For the forward reaction, this is symbolized as
Ea, fwd, and is the energetic cost required to advance the bond breaking in a molecule of A to the
point where formation of the new bond in B can begin to provide an energetic payback. The increase
in potential energy must be provided by the kinetic energy of the molecules in the system, which
varies by temperature, according to a Maxwell Boltzmann distribution. For molecules, the kinetic
energy can reside not only in their motion through space, but also in bond stretching, bending, and
twisting. Kinetic energy in these forms is constantly being redistributed by

Self-Esteem And Self Esteem
In a world where having friends is highly stressed, being perfect in academics, we are showing future
generations what s right and how they need to look and act. Young teenage girls have to undergo the
pressure of getting into a good college and being well rounded. Added onto that they must have
confidence and a strong self esteem, along with other factors that will play into their lives.
Everyday many girls under the age of 14 open up a form of social media and see pictures where they
find goals. This might be a picture of their friend where they look absolutely stunning. This young girl
will then check the comments and she ll see that everyone s telling her how beautiful her friend is.
Then after realizing that she has the exact same friends she goes to her own picture to see if they
commented on her post too. To her disappointment there s only five comments, 4 comment are talking
about homework and only one of them is telling her how pretty she is. Sadly, she thinks yourself that
she wished she were prettier and that she had more friends. Although she has the highest GPA she still
doesn t feel socially accepted, your role model is exactly like this. She is someone who has great
achievements but even greater beauty. This only leads you to ask yourself do you like your role model
for their achievements or for their beauty.
At the age from 12 Years to 18 years a girl s self image is the world to her. This is the time when she
sees her friends wear make up and suddenly

Karl Marx, Max Weber and Emile Durkheim offered differing perspectives on the role of religion.
Choose the theorist whose insights you prefer and outline how they perceived religion operating
socially. Discuss why you chose your preferred theorists views over the others.
Marx, Durkheim and Weber each had different sociological views of the role and function of Religion.
My preferred theorists view s on Religion is Karl Marx s as I feel his ideas are more relevant to what
Religion actually is. And I have chosen Marx s theory on Religion as I feel that it is the most similar to
my own views on the subject. His views are more interesting to me as I don t practise any Religion

Durkheim s theories make sense and are for me a nice and fluffy way of looking at Religion, but I
have a feeling that if he were to see the route Religion has gone down in modern society would he still
feel the same about the majority of Religions, for example the scandal s in the Catholic church over
the past forty years that are only really surfacing now. And Weber s thoughts were more rational as
that what was expected of people was to keep their heads down and they would eventually be
rewarded with Heaven.
Even if in today s society more numbers are in decline of practicing religion, Marx s views on the
subject are definitely the most valid. There expectations of people may not be as extreme as they were
back in the 1800 s of their followers as they are now, but of the three, Marx s views are the most
realistic of what Religion truly is. His ability to see what religion was actually doing to people s lives
back then is remarkable and for his words to still have such relevance now in modern society shows
that he was extremely perceptive of society. Marxism also assumes that Religion will eventually
disappear and for someone to envisage that from over one hundred years ago is clearly someone who
knew what they were talking about. And that is why I chose Marx.

Governmental Efforts to Achieve a Drug Free Society
Obviously, government has not at any point shown laxity in her effort to achieve a drug free society, a
dream that, perhaps by the virtue of existing measures, seems unrealizable. Its efforts include
enforcements and bringing drug offenders to justice which entails incarceration, capital punishment,
and what a few. This has financial impacts on the government, for instance, cost of custodial services,
police and court cost, community supervision etc; as well as social impacts and collateral costs,
(Beckley 2009). Despite these costs, drug markets keep booming and patronage keeps increasing
unfortunately. It is then necessary that we review that law which criminalizes our citizens and makes
the economy spend more of its hard earned income incarcerating drug offenders. Thanks to President
Goodluck Jonathan for suggesting models for decriminalizing and regulating some of these illicit
drugs.
However, attention has been drawn to the yearnings and criticisms of notable law enforcement agents,
group of parents, constituency members who still share optimism in the present measures, opining that
any suggestion short of further criminalizing drug users (both violent non violent) would only worsen
the situation. Perhaps, sharing their view, the mere thought of imagining that a government would
approve/sell drugs to her citizens sends a chill of fear down the spine.

The Psychological Side Of The Injury
Personal
It is widely an accepted belief that sports are ninety percent mental and ten percent physical so when
an injury occurs it is just as equal in importance to be aware of the psychological side of the injury as
well as the physical injury. Athletes around the world know not only the physical pain, but the
emotional toll injury places on a person who is sought after to perform their best day in and day out.
Small injuries that lower one s top performance ability, big injuries that force cease of play for any
amount of time, as well as chronic injuries that consistently keep coming back and influence
performance ability for a long time all effect people mentally negatively; some rise above and some do
not. Staying mentally strong during a time of injury is difficult and just as in any difficult situation
people respond differently. Knowing the ways that are typical in response to an injury and being able
to apply positive traits can provide for a much healthier, better, and in some cases faster recovery.
I have always been prone to injury and had to deal with them consistently while growing up playing
sports. My dad has likewise always been my coach and it has been instilled in me since I was young
that the tough play through the pain. Playing through pain puts your mental toughness on display. My

Insanity In Edgar Allan Poe s The Tell Tale Heart
Insanity is not always seen directly from the outside. Edgar Allan Poe once said, I became insane, with
long intervals of horrible sanity. Someone may appear normal, but no one can read someone else s
mind when it comes to mental health. In Edgar Allan Poe s short story The Tell Tale Heart, the
narrator strives to support his lucidity after murdering the old man under his care. Although he
repeatedly claims that he is logical and acts with sagacity, the narrator s noetic process and behaviors
indicate he actually is insane. The narrator s lack of reason and auditory hallucinations provide proof
of his dementia. To begin with, the narrator s lack of reason for his groundless actions provides
evidence for his insanity, contradicting the belief that he is mentally stable. The narrator had no
rational reason to murder the old man. For example, the narrator stated Object there was none. Passion
there was none. I loved the old man. He had never wronged me. He had never given me insult (p 1).
Therefore, the old man had never done anything to harm the narrator, nor had he ever wronged him in
any way. The only reason the narrator killed the old man was because he was deranged in multiple

A Brief Note On The Causes And Solutions
Dysgraphia: The Causes and Solutions
Kelsey Swain
Ashland University
Take a moment to reflect on your day, how often do you find yourself writing. We live in a world that
revolves around technology. If you think about it, we have email on our cell phones so we do not have
to write letters, we have cars that can park themselves, and we even have televisions that are smarter
than some human beings! Despite how much technology surrounds us, writing is something that will
never go away. Written language is something we experience in every day life and it is something that
is essential to daily activities. Whether or not we realize it, written language is present in all aspects of
our lives. The good and readable handwriting is another dimension that is necessary in developing
society (Rostami, p. 10). Although the written language is such a large part of our daily living, how we
express this written language, spelling, is often overlooked. Rostami states, handwriting is generally
the storage of information. The data are written objectively and everyone can use it in every time and
place. From the benefits of handwriting we can refer to the limited amount of data that human
memory can hold and the unlimited amount of data that can be stored in written form. Thus, humans
are not only able to learn the knowledge of their ancestors, but also they can use them to achieve new
discoveries and new conclusions (p.7).
Although skilled handwriting is required for 30%

The History Of Healing Wizards
The history of healing wizards in Peru matches that of the ritual use of hallucinogens and appears to
have emerged alongside the first major temple building culture Chavín (1200 BC 200 AD).
Agriculture, ceramics and other technical processes including some metallurgy had already been
developed by 1200 BC, but Chavín demonstrates the first unified and widespread cultural movement
in terms of sacred architectural style, and the forms and symbolic imagery used in pottery throughout
much of Andean and coastal Peru during this era. Chavín was a religious cult which seems to have
spread from the central mountains, quite possibly from the large temple complex at Chavín de Huantar
near Huaraz. Taking hold along the coast, the image of the central Chavín deity was woven, moulded,
and carved onto the finest funerary cloths, ceramics and stones. Generally represented as a complex
and demonic looking feline deity, the Chavín god always has fangs and a stern face. Many of the idols
also show serpents radiating from the deity s head.
As far as the central temple at Chavín de Huantar is concerned, it was almost certainly a centre of
sacred pilgrimage built up over a period of centuries into a large ceremonial complex used at
appropriate calendrical intervals to focus the spiritual, political, and economic energies of a vast area
(at least large enough to include a range of produce for local consumption from tropical forest, high
Andean and desert coast regions). The magnificent stone

John Winthrop Model
In 1630, the Arbella carried Puritans from England toward the colonies. Once they had arrived, John
Winthrop took responsibility to teach the passengers the principles of a model society so the future
generations could live well. By following these principles, the community was going to be able to
survive by working together in order to ensure that the community would last. Although America
started with John Winthrop s idea of a model society, this nation is no longer the community that was
envisioned then because the bond between people has been broken by the racism and the selfishness
of most Americans.
In 1630, Puritans, led by John Winthrop, sailed on the Arbella from Boston, England to Salem,

John Winthrop teaches the ones from the Arbella that they must keep their neighbor in mind when
saving extra. Today, most of the citizens work hard just so their family can have enough to be able to
put food on the table. Providing for their neighbor is the last thing in their minds. Some people can
barely provide for themselves let alone an entire family. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics,
the average consumer yearly expenditures was approximately $55, 978 in 2015. From $55,978, around
$29,000 come from housing and shelter. Food adds relatively $7,000, and transportation, education,
and healthcare add around $14,000 ( Consumer ). With all the expenses, the family does not have
enough to spend what is left on the ones surrounding them, so how can America help each other when
in need when they can barely help themselves? Families will prefer to fool themselves into believing
that no one needs anything just so they do not have to give from what they have, and when they do
happen to save extra, they do not plan on saving for when their neighbor needs it, they plan to save it
for when they need it. They may even save it so in the future they can splurge on an expensive item
that will please the family, something they do not necessarily need. The people do

Teens are more likely to respond to calls, text while driving, and riding than adults. They talk and text
on the phone without realizing that it can cost their lives. Even the U.S. Government Website for
Distracted Driving has proven that traffic crashes are the leading cause of death in teens. 3) Increases

Texting is instantly gratifying, but it also produces anxiety. The instant reply by the friend can bring
joy and elation. But in case of delayed response or no response, this same pleasure turns into
disappointment. 4) Cancer: Research shows that electromagnetic radiation emitted by mobile phones

The Lackluster Town of Holcomb
Henry David Thoreau once wrote, A man s interest in a single bluebird is worth more than a complete
but dry list of the fauna and flora of a town (Thoreau). Truman Capote, author of In Cold Blood,
disagrees with Thoreau s sentiment and utilizes his description of Holcomb, Kansas to produce an
illustration of a rustic village within the minds of his audience. Capote portrays the town as utterly
average as well as drab and dreary in nature so that he can convince the audience that Holcomb was
nothing more than a haphazard hamlet and to foreshadow the coming drama (para. 2). Through an
ingenious application of vivid imagery, superfluous syntax, fantastic figurative language, as well as a
tone laced with melancholy, the speaker effectively demonstrates that Holcomb is nothing special and
induces a feeling of normalcy and simple serenity within the audience while simultaneously
foreshadowing the future turmoil. In the excerpt from In Cold Blood, Capote couples intriguing
imagery with his gloomy and, at times, dull tone to emphasize the fact that Holcomb, like Maycomb,
the setting of Harper Lee s novel To Kill a Mockingbird, is a desolate place deprived of drama as well
as to foreshadow that change is coming to the tiny town. Capote uses imagery to paint a picture in the
minds of his readers of a ghost town utterly destitute of life and completely isolated in the wilderness
of Arkansas. When the speaker monotonously says, ...irrelevant sign, this one in flaking gold on a

Truth Behind The Mirror
Reflections no longer hold truth when encased by a mirror. There is darkness behind the glass that
seeps into people s subconscious. As it lingers inside them, it does not let up on its firm grasp on the
victim. This demonstrates how society s views can have a negative effect on an individual. Outside
pressure can become an overbearing force that is placed on individuals. People should not try to
capsize a stable boat when there is nothing wrong with it. People are too focused on what makes them
different from society, and how that is a negative thing. However, being unique is what makes them
beautiful. Comparing murky pond water and a crystal clear mirror allows people to see the distortions
in themselves and how everything is not surface deep. When looking into a murky pond or a clear
mirror, people perceive a distorted version of themselves. A pond drenched by pouring rain soon
causes the overflowing waters to escape from the banks and loosens the rich, black soil. The next day,
the cloudy pond is consumed by the disrupted mud which dims the reflection that is cast when the on
looker is looking in. As the mud rises to the surface, the image people have of themselves become
muddled. Mud that is now stirred in with the water will not let the sediment float back to the pond s
bottom which makes it appear that the once clear water will forever remain as a diluted pond. Even the
moss that is scattered on the surface limits the person s view, and capsizes on their

Parametric Design in Architecture
Introduction:
The development of technology has made people pay more attention to computer skills. In
architecture, the advantages of digital tools have also become increasingly significant since 1940.
Before the parametric design, designers always used traditional software, like AutoCAD, Sketch up,
and Photoshop, to make the architectural expression. However, the parametric system encourages
designers to consider the variety of design, and make the design more editable by changing parameters
and controlled conditions. Therefore, we could say that parametric strategy did modify the process of

Through this rule based design strategy, the form of the building is easy to change by modifying the
constraints of the parameters. The time cost of the model could save because the whole model does
not need to rebuild. By parametric design, we could use the characteristics of Building Information
Modeling (BIM) elements to response the data from the environmental analysis, such as solar
radiation and wind velocity. Considering BIM providing a corporation system for information to share
and use by architects, which not only could build three dimensional models, predict the performance
of the building, but also enable to analyze the environment, BIM already become one of the most
significant computational design tools for contemporary architecture. The author uses sun shades as an
example to show the approach used by designers to complete a façade design step by step and the
relationships between analytic data, BIM and different software, such as Revit, Ecotect, and Excel.
Also, the limitations of parametric design are mention in the

When the first power point hit in the movie, it was when Warner feels he s better than Elle, because he

him. Power point (2) was when Warner and Vivian became in engage, she felt she was on top of the
winner circle for being engage to Warner. Another great part of the movie I find very powerful, was
when Elle became the attorney for Brooke Windham, which was on trial for the murder of her
husband. In the beginning Elle feels very afraid, but she gain her confidence and won the case. With
this big win not only did Elle gain confidence, she also receive power, which was the two main things
she was lacking when she first enter into law school.
Main conflicts took place within the entire movie. Many were big and some were small. The first of
many conflict was when Elle and Vivian first met. Next was when Elle s teacher tried to make moves
on her. But the one I feel was the biggest of all conflicts was the on Elle was battling within herself. In
her eyes she wanted to provide to everyone that she could make it into Harvard Law School, but in
order to do this she had to stop doubting herself first. Therefore, when Elle met this guy name
Emmett, he help Elle to gain some self esteem for herself. With his help, this help Elle want to do

Review of the Film Adaptation of The Butcher Boy The butcher boy was made into a film adaptation
in 1997 by Neill Jordan and author of the original book Patrick McCabe. The Novel was highly
praised and controversial. Many saw it as the best account of Irish childhood. Its time frame is
reminiscent of the early 1960 s. It is about a young boy called Francie Brady who becomes isolated
from reality and eventually commit s the ultimate sin of murder from this isolation he is experiencing.
He is the victim of a dysfunctional family and of the effects of modernization in Ireland at this time
and we soon realize that he has been raised in an atmosphere of inhumanity. Both Novel and film

Most importantly the film uses a lot of comedy which carries off very well in the film as it did in the
novel. As in McCabe s book, the film is not just a story about social victims in 1960 s Ireland but a
story that explores a society through the eyes of a child called Francie Brady in a time of
modernisation . The setting of The Butcher Boy was in Clones Co.Monaghan. Jordan decided to have
the characters also speak in a Monaghan accent which mirrored McCabe s. As this was a film to be set
in the accents of Monaghan all the actors who were not native speakers went to considerable trouble to
master this tongue .# Not only was Jordan bringing this mainstream film production to Ireland but to
Monaghan. This was a boost for any town or city to get the chance to be in a blockbuster and For
McCabe, it was a remarkable experience to return to his home town with a motion picture crew in tow
# The setting of the film was a very important aspect of the movie in my opinion because if Jordan
failed to pick a place as ideal as McCabe s hometown then it might have been too outside the domain
of the novel and may not have worked as perfect as it did. The fact that Jordan went with Monaghan
as the location of the film shows just how close he wanted to get to the novel and to the writer. It
would have been just as easy to keep all the filming in Dublin or Galway and without the

A Study of Warfare in Europe Between 1300 and 1500
Since the introduction of gunpowder into Europe, it has gone on to dominate warfare into the
twentieth century. With the development of the first European guns in the fourteenth century, armies
were given use of a weapon which was to radically alter most of the ways of making war which had
been established during the Middle Ages, and changes began to be seen within only a few years. It is,
however, questionable whether the nature of these early changes constituted a revolution in the
methods of war, and even more so whether guns had by 1500 made a great deal of impact on the
character of war as it had existed in 1300. In assessing whether a revolution had taken place (or at

The use of the counterweight trébuchet, which had been in existence in Roman times, failed to decline
until the 1380s and was still listed as an active weapon in some French arms inventories until the
1460s. This shows the gradual nature of the introduction of gunpowder artillery (perhaps caused by
shortages of materials for the cannons or unwillingness to invest in them when a prince already owned
trébuchets), but there was little doubt that guns were becoming by far the better siege weapons. Their
importance gave rise to a kind of arms race in France in particular, with cities in the contested areas of
the Hundred Years War assigning the acquisition of guns a high priority. Charles the Bold s army
included a substantial artillery element in his war with the Swiss (although he was perhaps not a good
enough general to make effective use of it), while in 1494, Charles VIII invaded Italy with ...an army
of 18,000 men and a horse drawn siege train of at least forty guns. Even contemporaries realised that
this marked a new departure in warfare: in 1498 the Venetian Senate declared that the wars of the
present time are influenced more by the force of bombards and artillery than by men at arms .
Despite their undoubted worth, however, artillery did have a number of disadvantages at this time.
Perhaps the main one of these is the chronic difficulty of moving

From the beginning, the zero tolerance policies have been reactionary policies to problems that have
other root causes that cannot be solved by criminalizing every action that falls outside of the law, and
by mandating punishment for all school violations regardless of the situation or circumstance, schools
systems have created larger educational problems than they have solved in their reaction to some very
unfortunate school shootings.
One of the problems that have been created by the implementation of the zero tolerance policies is the
elimination of common sense when determining punishment for non threatening and non violent
offenses. Administrators have stopped considering the intent of an action or the circumstances of the
event. The Lindsay Brown case is a good example of how school administrators have stopped utilizing
common sense when a violation has occurred. Lindsey Brown was a high school student that was in

Throughout the 1800 s there were many crucial debates on the idea of slavery. One of the biggest
controversies in this time was the Kansas Nebraska act, passed in May of 1854. The act was the

Censorship Filters The Media Within The World
Does censorship filter the media within the world? Censorship has followed the free expressions of
men and women like a shadow throughout history. Censorship is a way to filter the media in the world
by suppressing unacceptable viewings or hearings by not showing, bleeping out, and covering the
distasteful parts. In ancient societies, China for example, censorship was considered a logical tool for
regulating the political and moral life of the population. The term censor can be traced to the office of
censor established in Rome i 443 BC. In Rome, in the ancient Greek communities, the thought of
good governance included shaping the character of the people, although, censorship was regarded as a
righteous task. In China, the first censorship law was introduced in 300 AD. Censorship is a healthy
way of teaching the world, helps control the influx of information and ideas in society and compresses
the violence within the world.
Though freedom of speech is legal within the United States of America, all things said, shown, or
expressed are not always appropriate. In most cases, inappropriate speech and/or acts lead to illegal
acts or urge others to. For example, if someone witnesses a scene, is a part of a scene or hears about it,
most will want to converse about it or take part in it creating chaotic controversy. However, more
severe forms have led to people or groups such as the Ku Klux Klan being denied certain marching
permits or the Westboro Baptist Church being sued,

4 Idols Of The Cave Summary
The sixteenth and seventeenth centuries saw significant increase of interest in classical education and
values, with heavy focus on the development of arts and sciences. This time period saw so much
development and growth in these areas that it is regarded as the ending of the renaissance and has
been given the credit of having officially bridged to a new age of modern history . Included among the
philosophers, educators and theologians responsible for this period immense development lies Sir
Francis Bacon. Bacon, most popularly regarded as major contributor to the development of natural
philosophy during the English Renaissance due to his desire to divulge into and eventually challenge
Aristotelian methodology, resulting in our modern day understanding of the scientific method. He
believed that truth should be acquired through evidence found in the real world . Bacon continued to
investigate and challenge this Aristotelian methodology, eventually publishing his studies in a book
titled New Organon in 1620. He included his beliefs of the effects that observation has on the mind,
calling this doctrine The Four Idols of the Mind. These idols, which Bacon regarded as obstacles
preventing the human race from truly understanding nature and reality, create a mental block of biases
such as racism, gender, or sexuality.

Flag Desecration Case Study
this case the Court considered whether the First Amendment protected non speech acts, as Johnson
was convicted of flag desecration and not of verbal communication. If acts of non speech are
protected, then would Johnson s burning of the flag represent expressive conduct which would permit
him to invoke the First Amendment in challenging his conviction. The court reiterated its long
standing that the protection of speech does not end at written or spoken word, as previously decided in
the case of Stomberg v. California, and Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School
District. The Court acknowledged that conduct may be sufficiently imbued with elements of
communication to fall within the scope of the First and Fourteenth Amendments. Having reviewed
whether the intent to convey a message was present and the likelihood that the message conveyed
would be understood, by bystanders, the Court felt that there were sufficient communication elements

In Cold Blood Syntax Analysis
Capote walks his reader through his harrowing novel of In Cold Blood using many intriguing
mechanisms. Throughout the exposition of the book, he introduces the setting, an isolated town in the
middle of nowhere by the name of Holcomb in Western Kansas. A contrast of Holcomb is created of
before and after the murder in order to show the significant impacts it had on the community. Capote
shows how the tragic murdering of the Clutter family traumatized and emotionally impacted the
citizens of the town. By sustaining various patterns of contrasting peaceful and suspicious visual

Capote uses modifying sentences and metaphorical language and in order to stress the transition to
Holcombs suspicious atmosphere. He states, At the time, not a sleeping soul in Holcomb heard them

sufficiently seldom to lock their doors, found fantasy recreating them over and over again those
somber explosions that stimulated fires of mistrust in the glare of which many old neighbors viewed
each other strangely, and as strangers (6). Here, Capote uses metonymy to emphasize the violence of
the murder when isolating the words four shotgun blasts. By using the word blasts he tries to
communicate the brutalness of the event and its disastrous impact. He uses a metaphor of the gunshots
to portray how they unfolded a sense of mistrust amongst Holcomb s community. By choosing the
word fire as opposed to a more plain word, Capote makes the situation more strongly felt, causing the
reader to feel more passionate about it. The rushed details of the sentence also help speed up the pace

Absurdism In The Stranger
Albert Camus utilizes an existential philosophy, absurdism, in his story, The Stranger . Absurdism is
when humans live meaningless lives in an irrational universe. Meursault, the protagonist in The
Stranger , has an absurdist view to life, which the story revolves around. Meursault s unique view of
life is unique and different from the ethics of the society. Absurdism plays a key role in Meursault s
life as the absurd sun influences his actions while his absurdist philosophies make him a stranger to
society. The absurd sun physically weakens Meursault leading him to make irrational decisions. The
sun is symbolic in The Stranger as it presents the irrationality in Meursault s universe. The sun is a
recurring symbol in the story and the first instance where it displays the irrationality in Meursault s
world is when Meursault is faced with the Arab at the beach as the sun was starting to burn [his]
cheeks, and [he] could feel drops of sweat...It was this burning that made [him] move forward (58).
Meursault encounters the Arab and the intense weather dictates his actions and makes Meursault think
irrationally. The use of the words made him show how the sun dictates his actions, which is
completely irrational. When Meursault is physically weakened in any form he thinks irrationally. In
this case, the sun weakens him physically as it is burning and leads him to step forward thinking he
could get the sun off of him, which is irrational. The irrationality of the weather dictating Meursault s
actions is absurdism. As Meursault makes his journey to the Arabs at the spring he realizes that all [he]
had to do was turn around and that would be the end of it. But, the whole beach, throbbing in the sun,
was pressing on [his] back. [He] took a few steps toward the spring (58). Meursault is aware that all he
needs to do is turn back; however he takes a few steps forward showing how the sun dictates his
actions. Furthermore, Meursault is physically weakened as the intense heat was pressing on his back
leading to his irrational thought to disregard his mind and move forward. Throughout the story,
Meursault is constantly led into irrational thought when physically weakened. An absurdist world is
defined to be one

Social Criticism Of Geoffrey Chaucer
Ashley Cartagena
Ms. Morris
English 12 5th period
5 December 2017
Geoffrey Chaucer as a Social Critic Geoffrey Chaucer, also known as the father of English literature,
is one of the greatest writers in his time. He is still famous today for his publications about fictional
characters ranging from all sorts of social classes, including the most luxurious of lifestyles, the
pauperized, and everything in between. Being a frequent traveler, Chaucer was able to observe groups
of people and develop his own opinions and ideas based on these observations subsequently creating
these characters. From his daring opinions embedded in his work, Chaucer easily became one of the
most controversial writers. In his literary work, Geoffrey Chaucer conveys his disdain for corruption
in the Church, politicians, and societal standards. In The Canterbury Tales Chaucer indirectly
proclaims his views of the Church by giving his characters involved in the Church corrupt
personalities and intentions in working for the Church. His characters that work for the Church or
claim to serve by God commonly possess avaricious personalities, ultimately interfering with what
should be honest and holy work. The Friar, for example is meant to live a life based off charitable
donations in the name of religion with a minimalistic style of living. However, he rather dedicates his
life using the donations he receives for giving each of his young women what he could afford her

Hanson Production
The president of production at Hanson Productions, an off Broadway production company, was faced
with the same situation for every Broadway production: where to locate, how many seats, what to
charge and how to promote and market the production. There are three separate venues, with three
separate value propositions to the studio, case and audience. While bigger means more seats and more
revenue for each show, there is a capacity percentage that must be factored in to the decision due to
the increased rental costs. Smaller venues may lead to higher capacity percentages, but ultimately
leave money on the table. The ticket prices must be set for advance sales; any change in price after this
period will effectively hurt future sales more so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For corporate houses we could only cite that it is just like as any other corporate deal with the only
differentiation that it produces films which is considered under the head of creative segment
(essentially organised corporate structure of producing in creative industries which is a new concept
for Indian film industry) (Subramaniam, A, 2003) So when Industry status was granted in 2000,
Corporate started getting attracted towards the films industry realising the huge potential that was
there to be exploited. When the corporate started entering to film industry with huge investment power
they started incorporating studio culture of Hollywood by following vertical integration. Leaving
behind the prevailing system of horizontal integration to the independent producers. The studio model
production house started giving more importance to the content. It stressed on script development,
introducing younger generation actors and directors, budget and time management, co productions and
international distribution. None of the new corporate production house had the background of film
production when they entered the segment. However most of them were involved in activities related
to the media (The Business Line, 2007). Barney says that the first to exploit the resources would gain

Roger Ackroyd Analysis
The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie is a story about the untimely demise of the title
character Roger Ackroyd. The novel takes place in the small town of King s abbot. The town is just
like any other small town in England it is based around a factory with each person in the town doing
their own part to help the town. However, after the mysterious death of Mr. Ferras, nothing was ever
the same. Most people think that Mrs. Ferras killed him, and on one faithful day it turned out to be
true with a hundred percent certainty; this was because Mrs. Ferras had killed herself the in the night.
It just so happened that she had been in love with Roger Ackroyd and planned on marrying him. In
addition, she had sent him a letter revealing that she had been getting blackmailed for some time and
this with the conjunction that she had really killed her late husband caused her to take such a drastic

at which the blackmailer is attending. The murder knows he is about to be caught in his blackmailing
scheme, so he jumps into action to take out the only other person who knows of his act. After the part

  • 2. Why Is Winston Peacock Murder The death of Winston Peacock was in fact a suicide, not a murder. Winston was found face down, holding a gun. He used that gun to shoot himself in the head, thus killing himself. Winston had swords and guns on the wall. They are in a crisscrossed pattern but one of the guns is missing. The reason as to why it is missing is because the missing gun is the gun that he is grasping in his hand. Some might believe somebody stole the gun, shot him, and run, but it is the exact same type of gun Winston is holding, so a hit and run cannot be a factor. The gun is in his right hand and the right side of his head is bloody. They indeed match up. If he were to hold the gun up to his head with it in his right hand, it would be on the right side ... • 3. Separation Anxiety And Its Effects On Children Separation anxiety is very common as children grow and develop. They may fear those few moments during daycare drop off or that initial first meeting with a new babysitter. These children will often times grow out of this anxiety after they become familiar with their surroundings and caregivers. But, if they continue having these separation anxiety induced outbursts, even after they have been with a trusted caregiver for a time, parents and primary caregivers often worry about the well being of their child and their child s development. They may believe that their child has acquired a Separation Anxiety Disorder (SAD). I selected this topic because I work with multiple toddlers in a center and their parents have expressed some minor worry towards whether or not their child suffers with SAD or if this anxiety is causing them delays. I would love to be able to know some minor details about this broad topic and refer them to the website and articles that I found helpful when writing this report. This topic is important because it is has many symptoms that are similar to regular and developmentally appropriate separation anxiety. When a child suffers from SAD, it is something that needs attention by a pediatric professional in order for it not to affect the child later in life. The first article that I read and reviewed was called Adult Agoraphobia and Childhood Separation Anxiety: Using Children s Literature to Understand the Link . Econ 201 Essay Sarah Khairunisa Microeconomics 201 Prof. Barry Kotlove 7 June 2014 Current Microeconomic Events Tobbaco Companies in Indonesia Tobacco industries are categorized as oligopolies. Oligopoly, according to McConnell Brue Flyyn s textbook, is characterized by multiple firms, one or more of which will produce a significant portion of industry output. Tobacco had been present in Indonesia since the 1600s. It was brought in to Java Island by Portuguese merchants. At first, Indonesia s cigarettes were handmade at home. They were rolled and wrapped with cornhusks, but that was a long time ago. Tobacco companies should invest more in doing research to do a breakthrough invention so they could produce products that are healthier as the anti cigarettes campaign is showing definite results. With e cigarettes that states themselves as healthier products, maybe in the future the demand will shift again to e cigarettes. Only by discovering new things that satisfy the customer s want and need will the company be successful. Sarah Khairunisa Case: African Beer SABMiller and Diageo are two largest beer producer in Africa. SABMiller, if combined with its partnership with France s Castel Group, sells roughly 60% Africa s beer by volume. Diageo s also expands its operation successfully that Senator Keg, its supercheap beer, is also now number two most popular beers in Kenya. As these giant brewers monopolized Africa s beer market, it can be said that the market has an oligopoly market structure, and both pursue identic operations, so the market can be labeled as competitive. The interdependence that is happening between both brewers makes the competition happens. As SABMiller produces Impala that is half price from its previous beer Manica, Diageo produces Senator Keg to balance it. Diageo ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While analyzing Primo Levi s life, we can conclude that he was depressed by the torture he experienced in Auschwitz. His depression got worst as the years went on. Primo Levi was born in 1919 in Turin. He was an Italian, an atheist, and a Jew. He went to the University of Turin and graduated with chemistry Ph.D. Levi wasn t fond of the Italian literature program (Paris Review). He says in an interview that he always loved chemistry. He knew that if he detested the Germans he would be following the precepts of Nazism (new republic). All the different mentalities needed in order to survive are explained in this book. In the contemporary world, different parts of the world have experienced situations that require people to stand up for the country. As seen recently in Europe, there has been a wave of terrorist attacks in major cities in Germany and England and in response, gallant soldiers have fought to keep the terrorists at bay, to avoid a repeat of the same. In fact when Achilles fails to catch up with Hector, Athena tips the scales in Achilles favor. She further poses as Hector s brother giving him false confidence that he has someone to support him in the war that breaks out between the two. Athena assists Achilles in fighting Hector by handing him back the spear while Hector is not aware. From the above description, Athena s character captures the life of the societal members willing to go great heights for the destruction of their fellows. The same energy she used to help Achilles, she could have used the same energy for the protection of Hector who was fighting for a more worthy cause of defending his city and ridding it of the interference of the outsiders. As citizens, our job is to examine that role and decide how it will affect our vote. The Bush/Gore campaign has been very much influenced by religion. Joseph Lieberman, Gore s running mate and the first Orthodox Jew to run for vice president on a major party ticket, has been extremely vocal about his faith. Both George W. The Pew Research Poll found that of those bothered by the merging of religion and politics, 49 percent supported Lieberman and 30 percent did not. The statistics were virtually the same among those who reported they were not concerned with politicians discussing religion. These results show that, so far, there doesn t appear to be any hostility against Lieberman. Examining the bigger picture, the poll found that about three quarters of the American public have a positive view of Jews (Lester). Over the span of one century, the world has had significant changes to society, such as advancements in transportation, fashion and technology. However, not all industries have had significant advancements in today s modern world. For example, the food industry has been lacking in the basic necessities needed to sustain a safe, humane work environment, especially in the meat industry. Excerpts from The Jungle by Upton Sinclair and Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser elaborately explain the horrible environments inside the factory. That any supervisor who loses a worker on the job has to only pay a compensation fee of $480 is impossible to justify. One especially sad anecdote is that of Kenny Dobbins, an uneducated man, who is repeatedly injured on the job, but keeps going back until he is crippled and permanently disabled. This story speaks the truth of how meat packaging corporations take their workers for granted by using them for everything they have, than discarding them like a dirty rag. Corporations like slaughterhouses do not care about employees getting injured because they know a majority of desperate immigrants would gladly have the morally degrading job. Often, animals feelings and well being have been overlooked because society has instilled the idea that animals have no emotions. The Jungle describes animals as being a worker s project that needs to be completed within a given time limit. After hogs entered Durham s meat facility, they were chained by the ankles and abruptly tossed around the room; the only audible sound was the high squeals and low squeals, grunts, and wails of agony (Sinclair). Quiet American Morality Graham Greene s The Quiet American demonstrates the façade of morality in the world, specifically in foreign affairs, and how it negatively affects humanity as the true ulterior motives pronounce themselves. The novel contains suggested criticism of the new US colonialism, demonstrated in the Indochinese setting and personified in the character of Alden Pyle, the quiet American . Fowler s witnessing of a dive bombing of a sampan and a street massacre using bicycle bombs have strong contemporary resonances to embedded journalists and the Middle East situation. As a political document, it anticipates developments that have come to dominate global politics, especially the use by the US of the domino theory to justify intervention in Vietnam (as in Cuba and Chile). It reflects the Cold War focus on crushing communism and then the new colonialism of spreading a particular definition and form of democracy. As a character study, the novel develops a detailed portrait and makes a close examination of the psychology of men, competition and ageing. The love triangle brings this into sharper focus, but Fowler s reactions to Pyle reveal a kind of alter ego relationship. Pyle sees Fowler as cynical but straight, which is not totally accurate in his desperate bid to hold on to Phuong. Pyle seems more self convinced but also far from innocent. Reactant molecules (A) in the system with enough energy to reach the energetic peak, the transition state(symbolized by the double dagger, ‡) can continue forward along the reaction coordinate to conversion to product B. This minimum energy required is the activation energy. For the forward reaction, this is symbolized as Ea, fwd, and is the energetic cost required to advance the bond breaking in a molecule of A to the point where formation of the new bond in B can begin to provide an energetic payback. The increase in potential energy must be provided by the kinetic energy of the molecules in the system, which varies by temperature, according to a Maxwell Boltzmann distribution. Governmental Efforts to Achieve a Drug Free Society Obviously, government has not at any point shown laxity in her effort to achieve a drug free society, a dream that, perhaps by the virtue of existing measures, seems unrealizable. Its efforts include enforcements and bringing drug offenders to justice which entails incarceration, capital punishment, and what a few. This has financial impacts on the government, for instance, cost of custodial services, police and court cost, community supervision etc; as well as social impacts and collateral costs, (Beckley 2009). Despite these costs, drug markets keep booming and patronage keeps increasing unfortunately. It is then necessary that we review that law which criminalizes our citizens and makes the economy spend more of its hard earned income incarcerating drug offenders. Thanks to President Goodluck Jonathan for suggesting models for decriminalizing and regulating some of these illicit drugs. However, attention has been drawn to the yearnings and criticisms of notable law enforcement agents, group of parents, constituency members who still share optimism in the present measures, opining that any suggestion short of further criminalizing drug users (both violent non violent) would only worsen the situation. • 21. A Brief Note On The Causes And Solutions Dysgraphia: The Causes and Solutions Kelsey Swain Ashland University Take a moment to reflect on your day, how often do you find yourself writing. We live in a world that revolves around technology. If you think about it, we have email on our cell phones so we do not have to write letters, we have cars that can park themselves, and we even have televisions that are smarter than some human beings! Despite how much technology surrounds us, writing is something that will never go away. Written language is something we experience in every day life and it is something that is essential to daily activities. Whether or not we realize it, written language is present in all aspects of our lives. The good and readable handwriting is another dimension that is necessary in developing society (Rostami, p. 10). Although the written language is such a large part of our daily living, how we express this written language, spelling, is often overlooked. Rostami states, handwriting is generally the storage of information. The data are written objectively and everyone can use it in every time and place. From the benefits of handwriting we can refer to the limited amount of data that human memory can hold and the unlimited amount of data that can be stored in written form. Thus, humans are not only able to learn the knowledge of their ancestors, but also they can use them to achieve new discoveries and new conclusions (p.7). The History Of Healing Wizards The history of healing wizards in Peru matches that of the ritual use of hallucinogens and appears to have emerged alongside the first major temple building culture Chavín (1200 BC 200 AD). Agriculture, ceramics and other technical processes including some metallurgy had already been developed by 1200 BC, but Chavín demonstrates the first unified and widespread cultural movement in terms of sacred architectural style, and the forms and symbolic imagery used in pottery throughout much of Andean and coastal Peru during this era. Chavín was a religious cult which seems to have spread from the central mountains, quite possibly from the large temple complex at Chavín de Huantar near Huaraz. Taking hold along the coast, the image of the central Chavín deity was woven, moulded, and carved onto the finest funerary cloths, ceramics and stones. Generally represented as a complex and demonic looking feline deity, the Chavín god always has fangs and a stern face. Many of the idols also show serpents radiating from the deity s head. As far as the central temple at Chavín de Huantar is concerned, it was almost certainly a centre of sacred pilgrimage built up over a period of centuries into a large ceremonial complex used at appropriate calendrical intervals to focus the spiritual, political, and economic energies of a vast area (at least large enough to include a range of produce for local consumption from tropical forest, high Andean and desert coast regions). Once they had arrived, John Winthrop took responsibility to teach the passengers the principles of a model society so the future generations could live well. By following these principles, the community was going to be able to survive by working together in order to ensure that the community would last. Although America started with John Winthrop s idea of a model society, this nation is no longer the community that was envisioned then because the bond between people has been broken by the racism and the selfishness of most Americans. John Winthrop teaches the ones from the Arbella that they must keep their neighbor in mind when saving extra. Today, most of the citizens work hard just so their family can have enough to be able to put food on the table. Providing for their neighbor is the last thing in their minds. Some people can barely provide for themselves let alone an entire family. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average consumer yearly expenditures was approximately $55, 978 in 2015. From $55,978, around $29,000 come from housing and shelter. Food adds relatively $7,000, and transportation, education, and healthcare add around $14,000 ( Consumer ). With all the expenses, the family does not have enough to spend what is left on the ones surrounding them, so how can America help each other when in need when they can barely help themselves? Families will prefer to fool themselves into believing that no one needs anything just so they do not have to give from what they have, and when they do happen to save extra, they do not plan on saving for when their neighbor needs it, they plan to save it for when they need it. They may even save it so in the future they can splurge on an expensive item that will please the family, something they do not necessarily need. The people do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Truman Capote, author of In Cold Blood, disagrees with Thoreau s sentiment and utilizes his description of Holcomb, Kansas to produce an illustration of a rustic village within the minds of his audience. Capote portrays the town as utterly average as well as drab and dreary in nature so that he can convince the audience that Holcomb was nothing more than a haphazard hamlet and to foreshadow the coming drama (para. 2). Through an ingenious application of vivid imagery, superfluous syntax, fantastic figurative language, as well as a tone laced with melancholy, the speaker effectively demonstrates that Holcomb is nothing special and induces a feeling of normalcy and simple serenity within the audience while simultaneously foreshadowing the future turmoil. In the excerpt from In Cold Blood, Capote couples intriguing imagery with his gloomy and, at times, dull tone to emphasize the fact that Holcomb, like Maycomb, the setting of Harper Lee s novel To Kill a Mockingbird, is a desolate place deprived of drama as well as to foreshadow that change is coming to the tiny town. As it lingers inside them, it does not let up on its firm grasp on the victim. This demonstrates how society s views can have a negative effect on an individual. Outside pressure can become an overbearing force that is placed on individuals. People should not try to capsize a stable boat when there is nothing wrong with it. People are too focused on what makes them different from society, and how that is a negative thing. However, being unique is what makes them beautiful. Comparing murky pond water and a crystal clear mirror allows people to see the distortions in themselves and how everything is not surface deep. When looking into a murky pond or a clear mirror, people perceive a distorted version of themselves. A pond drenched by pouring rain soon causes the overflowing waters to escape from the banks and loosens the rich, black soil. The next day, the cloudy pond is consumed by the disrupted mud which dims the reflection that is cast when the on looker is looking in. As the mud rises to the surface, the image people have of themselves become muddled. Mud that is now stirred in with the water will not let the sediment float back to the pond s bottom which makes it appear that the once clear water will forever remain as a diluted pond. The setting of The Butcher Boy was in Clones Co.Monaghan. Jordan decided to have the characters also speak in a Monaghan accent which mirrored McCabe s. Their importance gave rise to a kind of arms race in France in particular, with cities in the contested areas of the Hundred Years War assigning the acquisition of guns a high priority. Censorship has followed the free expressions of men and women like a shadow throughout history. Censorship is a way to filter the media in the world by suppressing unacceptable viewings or hearings by not showing, bleeping out, and covering the distasteful parts. In ancient societies, China for example, censorship was considered a logical tool for regulating the political and moral life of the population. This time period saw so much development and growth in these areas that it is regarded as the ending of the renaissance and has been given the credit of having officially bridged to a new age of modern history . Included among the philosophers, educators and theologians responsible for this period immense development lies Sir Francis Bacon. Bacon, most popularly regarded as major contributor to the development of natural philosophy during the English Renaissance due to his desire to divulge into and eventually challenge Aristotelian methodology, resulting in our modern day understanding of the scientific method. He believed that truth should be acquired through evidence found in the real world . Meursault, the protagonist in The Stranger , has an absurdist view to life, which the story revolves around. Meursault s unique view of life is unique and different from the ethics of the society. Absurdism plays a key role in Meursault s life as the absurd sun influences his actions while his absurdist philosophies make him a stranger to society. The absurd sun physically weakens Meursault leading him to make irrational decisions. The sun is symbolic in The Stranger as it presents the irrationality in Meursault s universe. The sun is a recurring symbol in the story and the first instance where it displays the irrationality in Meursault s world is when Meursault is faced with the Arab at the beach as the sun was starting to burn [his] cheeks, and [he] could feel drops of sweat...It was this burning that made [him] move forward (58). Meursault encounters the Arab and the intense weather dictates his actions and makes Meursault think irrationally. The use of the words made him show how the sun dictates his actions, which is completely irrational. When Meursault is physically weakened in any form he thinks irrationally. In this case, the sun weakens him physically as it is burning and leads him to step forward thinking he could get the sun off of him, which is irrational. The irrationality of the weather dictating Meursault s actions is absurdism. As Meursault makes his journey to the Arabs at the spring he realizes that all [he] had to do was turn around and that would be the end of it. But, the whole beach, throbbing in the sun, was pressing on [his] back. [He] took a few steps toward the spring (58).
