Cognitive, personality and behavioural predictors of academic success in a la...Blackboard APAC
In recent years there has been growing interest in the use of e-learning tools that are able to adapt to suit the ability levels, needs, or preferences of individual learners. In this project we aim to test the utility of an adaptive e-learning study tool within the context of a large undergraduate Psychology course (approximately 700 students). The study tool and a number of associated summative tests are hosted on the course’s Blackboard Learning Management System. Pilot data indicates that students that use the tool perform significantly better on the summative tests compared to non-users (t[683] = 4.35, p <0.001). We examine the relationship in the context of 1) learning analytics data that can be obtained via Blackboard, and 2) a number of known psychological predictors of academic success.

Tracking BTEC grades in Moodle - Bedford CollegeJISC RSC Eastern
Bedford College has developed a sophisticated Moodle plug-in to track students’ progress against criteria and units for BTEC qualifications. The system currently supports all levels of qualifications including Diplomas, Extended Diplomas, FDs, HNCs and HNDs. The system is currently being extended to accommodate other families of qualifications.
In addition to providing teachers and students with a graphical overview of progress in completing qualifications, the system also provides predicted grades based on prior qualifications and on current progress in meeting criteria.
Teachers are provided with tools that enable them to update progress, add comments at criteria level, customise qualifications and units, specify individualised programmes for students and view reports by class list, unit or student.

Abstract
This project, which aims to develop a professional portfolio for teacher educators and student teachers, is in its budding stage. The focus is to develop a Learning Management System with many of the social networking features.Student teachers can upload products including My Teaching Philosophy, Reflective Journal, Lesson Plans, Teaching Video and Photos in addition to detailed personal and academic profiles,.Every product is uploaded with a reflective note and there is a provision for comments and feedback. A major feature is to make performance assessment strategies as an integral part of the portfolio system. The self, peer, and mentor assessmentsare carried out using rubrics. Login to the system is also allowed for educational institutions, employers and guests and the public. It is expected that the system works as an effective tool for engaging student teachers and teacher educators to create and share a pool of pedagogical knowledge.

Online Teaching Learning (OTL) systems are the future of the education system due to the rapid development in the field of Information Technology. Many existing OTL systems provide distance education services in the present context as well. In this paper, several types of existing OTL systems are explored in order to identify their key features, needs, working, defects and sectors for future development. For this, different aspects, types, processes, impacts, and teaching–learning strategies of various OTL systems were studied. In addition, the paper concludes with some future insights and personal interest in the further development of OTLs on the basis of previous research performed.
